"You're not welcome"

Eifion encounters Jim, who reminds him, “You’re not welcome at the funeral – remember that!”

"False accusation!"

Eifion responds, “And you remember that it was a false accusation!”   As Jim appears rather inclined to hit Eifion, 

Mark steps in to prevent bloodshed

Mark steps between them, suggesting that Courtney deserves better than this.   

Mark adds that he does not know how Eifion can show his face;  

"Neither do I!"

Gaynor, who happens to be passing, agrees, “Neither do I!”   Eifion thought that Mark would understand, as a false accusation was made against him too;  he walks off in disgust.

"Dai says you were responsible"

Then Diane appears on the scene, insisting that, according to Dai, Jim  was responsible for the accident.   

"It was his scaffolding - up there!"

Jim quickly replies, “It was his scaffolding which was not secure!”   Then he repeats, “I’m finished with APD, and that is the end of it!”

"He'll be getting a solicitor's letter!"

Diane insists that if he continues to say that sort of thing, Jim will be getting a solicitor’s letter.

"It's not too late to change your mind"

At number 9, Jason and Sara are preparing to leave, and Jason tells her it is not too late to decide not to have the test.   “I didn’t sleep well,” he says, What if you lost the baby after the test?   You’d never forgive me.”   

"The odds are in our favour"

She insists that the statistics are in their favour, and they go.

"I found these under the bed"

Gwyneth finds some of Siôn’s dirty clothes, and remarks, “You don’t usually put dirty clothes under the bed.”   

"I fell over while walking"

He invents a tale of falling over when he was walking in the Wenallt, and did not say anything about it to avoid embarrassment.   Gwyneth leaves for work.

"I can help now"

DJ is working out in the field with the 4x4, erecting fences;  he tells Cadno, “I know I was not much help to you after the accident, but I can help now.   You said that I scarpered, while Eifion was a great help.”   

Cadno has a phone call

Cadno receives a phone call from Eifion.

Mark is pleased with the radiator

Mark is very pleased with his new radiator at Maes-y-Deri;  

"It's made a lot of difference already!"

“It’s made a lot of difference already,” he enthuses, and Siôn comments that the old one had been there since Roman times.

"Can you pay the labour in cash?"

Siôn hands him an invoice for the materials, but would like the labour paid in cash;  

"Only £15?   I was expecting more than that"

Mark gives him £15, which Siôn does not think is sufficient, but Mark points out, “I did you a favour, really – something to put on your CV.”

"Come for a drink in the Deri"

Siôn invites him to the Deri for a drink at lunchtime, which Mark describes as, “Customer feedback,” adding, 

"Most people prefer to pay in cash"

“Most people prefer to pay in cash for the parts as well.   I’ll bring cash at lunchtime – 

"Minus the VAT?"

“minus the VAT of course!”

"I'm so proud of you!"

When they arrive home after the test, Jason praises Sara;  “I’m so proud of you – it went like clockwork.   I’m sorry I had a wobble earlier – it was definitely worth taking the test.”

"Do you want to have an abortion?"

Sara bluntly replies, “Well, I’m glad you’re happy.   Do you want to have an abortion?   Come on, answer me – if the test says the baby definitely has Downs, will you want me to get rid of it?”   

"That's an unfair question"

Jason cannot answer that, and says it is an unfair question to ask.

Eifion is getting physical

Eifion is energetically driving in a fence post, working out his frustration.   

"I'm not saying I don't believe you . . ."

DJ says, “If we have to work together, we need to clear the air – I’m not saying I don’t believe you about Courtney . . .”

“That’s not what you told everyone in the Deri!” snarls Eifion.   

"It looks suspicious"

DJ maintains that his defensive attitude looks suspicious.   “I don’t need to defend myself – I haven’t done anything!” shouts Eifion. 

Lunch has arrived

Cadno brings their lunch out to the field, and DJ is told that she and Eifion are going to an unofficial gathering at the Deri, organised by Dani, as the funeral is to be private.   

"Leaving MacNabbs to do all the work?"

“Leaving MacNabbs on his own to do all the work, are you?” says DJ.

Siôn enjoys his plumbing

Siôn tells Mark in the Deri that he enjoys the plumbing work, 

"We can't all afford to relax in pubs!"

then Gwyneth walks in, commenting, “We can’t all afford to relax in pubs!”   

Mark is quick to leap to Siôn’s defence;  “He’s been working very hard for me, fitting a new radiator – and he fixed the toilet seat.”   

Now Gwyneth knows the truth

Gwyneth remarks that it is dangerous work, plumbing.

Jason apologises again

Jason tells Sara he is sorry if he gave her the wrong impression;  she replies, “I can’t believe I took that test if it doesn’t make any difference!”   He maintains that no-one knows how they will feel or react until they are in the situation.   

"We are in the situation!"

“We are in the situation!” rages Sara, “The CVS test will only confirm what I’ve accepted.”

"I don't want you to go through that again!"

Jason says, “To answer your question about abortion – of course I don’t want you to go through that again!”   

She does not want to talk about the past

Sara is adamant she does not want to discuss the past, and he suspects she may be feeling guilty.   

"So you can interrogate me . . ."

“It’s very strange that you can interrogate me about my feelings, but I can’t do the same.   Is that the way it works?” he enquires.

"I've made my decision"

“There is nothing to say, because I’ve made my decision,” she insists, “You believe that this baby has Downs because I left it too late.”   He replies that it is bound to be a factor, 

She storms off upstairs

but she gets up and goes upstairs.

"We've upset him again, haven't we?"

As DJ leans on the gate, Eifion tells Cadno, “We’ve upset him again, havent we?   

"I doubt if Angela will stay away"

“Perhaps I shouldn’t have the afternoon off, after all – it’s not as if we’re going to the funeral, anyway.   I’ve been thinking, and doubt if Angela will stay away.”   

"It would be odd to miss her daughter's funeral"

Cadno agrees that it  would be odd not to attend her own daughter’s funeral.

DJ approaches, and Cadno emphasises that Eifion has been like a father to Courtney lately.   

"Oh yes – you were close!"

“Oh yes – you were close!” DJ agrees, 

"Say that again, and I'll knock your head off!"

and Eifion warns him that if he says that again, he will get his head knocked off.   Undeterred, DJ repeats, “Well, you were close.   It’s not safe to say anything on this farm any more!”

"You could come to the Deri tomorrow"

Cadno tells DJ he could come to the Deri tomorrow, but he answers, “I don’t have a smart enough shirt – I know my place.”

What is the significance of the white seal?

Dai is putting the Christmas display in the window of APD, 

"You ought to settle your differences"

as Diane urges him to settle his differences with Jim.   

"He has tarnished the good name of Ashurst!"

“When he tarnishes the Ashurst good name, he tarnishes all Ashursts, including you,” is Dai’s reply.   

"He doesn't know you have also lost a daughter"

Diane points out that Jim is not aware that Dai has also lost a daughter, and that they should shake hands and forget all about it, as too much has been said in the heat of the moment.

Dai resumes his window-dressing

Dai is unrepentant, despite Diane’s insistence that this is doing APD no good at all;  “We haven’t had a single customer this morning!” she laments.

"I'd better keep my mouth shut"

“Listen, I don’t want to argue with you,” says Jason, “So I’d better keep my mouth shut to avoid putting my foot in it.   

"I'm here for you – both of you!"

“But I can say this – I’m here for you and always will be – for both of you!”   Sara has concluded that the baby is to test their love.

"I'm afraid this is our last chance!"

Then she admits, “You were right – I’m afraid that this is our last chance – if we got rid of this baby, we might not have another chance, we would not be able to have children, 

"I couldn't live with that!"

“and I couldn’t live with that.”

"Sorry for lying"

Gwyneth is not happy when she and Siôn arrive home;  he apologises for lying to her, explaining that he enjoys plumbing, and is proud of his first job at Maes-y-Deri.   

And does she not look thrilled to bits?

“I’m thrilled to bits for you!” she grumbles, “You broke your word – you said you’d give up plumbing!”

"Everyone's a winner!"

Siôn cannot see any problem;  “Mark wanted the job done – Iolo couldn’t do it – I was paid for the job – everyone’s a winner!”   

"You'd better get used to it!"

“You’d better get used to it, because I’m going to do more plumbing.”    

Gwyneth's plans are going awry

Gwyneth does not look pleased about this.

"You took Eifion's side"

DJ complains that Eifion took his comments the wrong way, and Cadno took his side.   

"I'm stuck between the two of you!"

She argues that it is stressful, being stuck between the two of them;  “This is a sensitive time for Eifion, so if you can’t talk sensibly, keep your distance,” she warns DJ.

"Someone has to look after the boys"

“Maybe you should do that,” he replies, “When were you going to tell me about this unofficial funeral?   Anyway, someone has to look after the boys while you go and stick up for Eifion!”

"Cwmderi makes me sick sometimes!"

Cadno accuses DJ of kicking Eifion while he is down by spreading vicious rumours.   “Cwmderi makes me sick sometimes!   You’re making a fool of yourself – you and the rest of this dump!   They’re all wrong – and I’ll tell them tomorrow!”
