22 November 2016

The tributes have multiplied . . .
The flowers, candles and messages have increased in number,
. . . together with a photo of Courtney
and Jim is looking at them;  sadly he says,
"This is not your place!"
“Where are you, Courtney, my love?   This is not your place – in the middle of all this rubbish!”
Dai notices Jim
Dai comes out of the shop, notices Jim and assumes that this display will give him some comfort,
"No comfort at all!"
but Jim growls, “No comfort at all!   Cheap tat!”
Eileen and Llinos are putting the bread on display
Jim is very distraught
when Jim comes in, crying piteously.
"I hate that shrine!"
“I hate that shrine!    I know I shouldn’t have gone out there, but I couldn’t help it – something draws me there.   When I stand in front of it, I can see it happening again – the car turning, and the horrific last seconds!
Eileen is anxious about his state
“I keep asking if I could have done anything else – I shouted at her to stop, but she was determined to go somewhere, she had something to say about . . .”
"Shge had something to say about Ed!"
Then he suddenly remembers what she said;  “She had something to say about Ed!   It all makes sense now – who was breaking his heart by the grave?   Ed!   Elliw said that Courtney and Sioned had a huge row – about what?   Ed – Sioned had found out!”
"Ed?   What's this all about?"
As Eileen listens in horror,
"Ed was the baby's father!"
Jim comes to the conclusion, “Ed was the baby’s father!”
"Well, it's Diane's choice!"
Jason says he has not heard from his mother all weekend;  “Well, it’s Diane’s choice if she doesn’t want anything to do with her grandchild,” replies Sara, adding, I’m going to work – there’s no point in sitting here, doing nothing.”
"You're supposed to be taking it easy"
Jason reminds her that the doctor advised her to take it easy after the accident, but she is determined that she is going back to Awyr Iach –
"I'm going to tell them about the baby"
and that she is going to tell them about the baby.
"Gwyneth won't be in this week"
Siôn has called at Awyr Iach to tell them that Gwyneth will not be in this week, as she is rather fragile and cannot sleep.   In the background Ed is loading parcels into the taxi.
"How's the new throne?"
“How is the new throne at Maes-y-Deri Palace?” Siôn asks Vicky, and she confirms it is totally wobble-free.
There is more radiator trouble at Maes-y-Deri
Then she tells him, “The radiator in my room doesn’t work, and we’ve got no money to replace it.”
"I think Iolo has some spare ones"
Siôn thinks that Iolo has some spare ones after another job, and will make enquiries.   “We also need one for Ricky’s room, as there was no money after the loft conversion,” she adds.
Sara is back at work
Then Sara comes in, and Anita is surprised that she has returned so soon after the accident.
Jim is sure Ed is the father
Jim tells Sioned that he has more than a suspicion;  “I’m sure Ed is the father!”
"Nothing happened between them!"
She is quite adamant that nothing happened between Ed and Courtney,
"Where is he?"
but Jim insists, “Courtney’s last words were that she had something to say about Ed!   Where is he?”
She tells him that Ed is at work, and as Jim walks out,
"Jim is spouting rubbish again!"
she maintains that he is, “Spouting rubbish,” but Eileen does not know what to believe.
Sara makes her announcement
At Awyr Iach, Sara announces, “Last week I had a CVS test – the baby we are having has Down’s Syndrome – it was not a big surprise, as we had been told it was likely, but news like that can be hard.   Jason and I have decided not to let it stop us looking forward.”
It comes as rather a shock. . .
Vicky and Anita look shocked, as Jason adds, “It’s going to be a challenge, but also an honour, to raise him or her.”
. . . but Anita hugs her
Anita hugs Sara and Siôn says they are doing something very brave.
Vicky has her doubts
Vicky, however, looks disapproving.
"He's out delivering for Awyr Iach"
Iolo is doing some work in the Deri Deithio office;  Jim bursts in, demanding the whereabouts of Ed, and is told that he is out delivering.   Siôn gives Iolo the news about the baby;  “Jason and Sara seem very happy about it –
"No-one wants an angry Jim around the place!"
but no-one wants an angry Jim around the place!
"Remember those radiators from Bryn Hebog?"
“Remember the radiators you removed from the holiday home at Bryn Hebog?”
Siôn is thinking in terms of a Christmas present
Iolo is afraid he is about to be told that they cannot be stored at Y Felin, but Siôn suggests, “I’d like to give the Joneses at Maes-y-Deri an early Christmas present.
"Well, when will he be back, then?"
Jim demands to know when Ed will be back, and why they do not keep track of their workers,
"I want to see him the minute he gets back!"
stressing that he wants to see Ed the minute he gets back.
"He should control his temper!"
After he has stormed off, Jason comments, “I know he’s having a hard time, but he should control his temper!”
Anita shows Vicky the scan
Sara shows Anita the scan photos on her phone, and she in turn shows them to Vicky;
"They haven't thought it through!"
“I don’t think they have thought it through – a lot of women reach a difficult decision,” Vicky says, “If she had a termination, no-one would judge her.   When I was pregnant with Nicky, I considered every eventuality, but all the tests and scans were OK.   Having a disabled baby is a huge resonsibility – it ties you down.   Maybe their next baby would be normal.”
"You can't say things like that!"
Iolo has just walked in with Siôn, and recoils in horror;  “You can’t say things like that!
"He has not had any relationship with Courtney!"
Sioned assures her mother that Ed has not had any kind of relationship with Courtney;
"Nothing slips under my radar!"
“I know where he is all the time – nothing slips under my radar!” she boasts, “Anyway, do you really think Courtney would sleep with Ed?   She wasn’t Angela!
"If you think that, you don't know Courtney at all!"
If you really think he was the father, you don’t know Courtney at all!”
Eileen fears that Jim has got it wrong again, and tries to phone him;
"I have to talk to him"
“I have to talk to him before he does something he regrets!”
"No, I'm too busy!"
Iolo tells Vicky that they cannot do the plumbing job, as he is too busy.   Vicky asks if it is because of what she said, and he answers,
"I don't have the time – or the inclination!"
“Yes!   You should think before you speak!   Thinking a baby with Down’s is not ‘normal’ isn’t right!   I don’t have the time to do it – or the inclination either!”
"I did 'sort of' promise!"
Siôn points out that he did ‘sort of’ promise, adding that it is nearly Christmas and he has nowhere to store those radiators.
Ed is back from his delivery round;
Ed has had a near miss
“I’ve just had a near death experience!” he relates, “I was just making a delivery at Cross Hands, and a Doberman came at me!   If I hadn’t got back to the car, he’d have taken a chunk out of my backside!”
"You've got worse to come – Jim's on the warpath!"
Anita warns that he has worse to come – Jim is on the warpath.
Jim is again haranguing them
Back at the café flat, Jim is still in a state;  “During the driving lesson she wanted to say something about Ed – it must have been important, because she wanted me to do something.”
"Looking for me, Jim?"
Ed walks in and enquires, “Looking for me, Jim?”
"I have no idea!"
Jim rages that just before Courtney was killed, she wanted to say something about him, but Ed replies that he has no idea what that might be.   In that case, Jim resolves to go to the police.
Sioned concocts a far-fetched fable
Sioned has to think quickly here, and says, “There was something . . . Courtney had found out that Ed had hit me . . . in a temper a few days before.   I was ashamed, and she was angry with me because I wouldn’t tell anyone.   That’s what she wanted to tell you about, Jim!”
"What is the dopey woman going on about?"
Ed, quite naturally, is shocked by this total fabrication, but when Sioned declares, “I hate to admit it, but that’s the truth – isn’t it, Ed?” he nods his head.
Dai and his little teddy
Sara comes out of the Antur to see Dai by the floral tributes;  he adds a teddy to the display.
"I know I'm an old softie!"
He smiles, “I know I’m an old softie – but Jim would disagree.   He thinks I don’t respect his feelings.”   Sara tells him that she has told the Awyr Iach staff the news, but she does not have the energy to talk to Diane again.
Sioned embroiders the tale as she goes along . . .
Eileen demands why Sioned had not told her about this abuse;  “Ed and I were going to sort it out – we had to face up to what happened first,” Sioned explains.
. . . and Ed is forced to join in with it
Ed backs up her fantasy;  “I was trying to grasp how I could do something so awful to Sioned – I don’t want to hurt her, honestly!”
Eileen is pleased that they have now established that Ed was not the father, but Jim laments, “We’re even further now from knowing the truth about who the father is!” and walks out of the flat.
"We'll sort this out another time!"
As Eileen goes after him, she warns Ed, “We’ll sort this out another time!”
"Iolo found time in his schedule"
When they arrive at Maes-y-Deri, Siôn tells Vicky that Iolo has found time in his schedule.
"I just said she had options"
She points out that she did not say Sara had made the wrong choice, but simply that she had options.
Iolo clearly states his objections
Iolo strongly objects to her using terms like ‘normal’ and ‘abnormal’, but she argues that it is what mothers think before giving birth.   He advises her not to let Sara hear her saying things like that.
"For once, I haven't done anything wrong!"
Ed scolds Sioned, “There’s no point stomping around like that – for once, I haven’t done anything wrong!   I just stood there like an idiot while you said I hit you!”
"Well, you forced me to say it!"
She is adamant that he forced her to say that;  “What – held a gun to your head and insisted you tell stupid lies? he demands.   She answers that Jim was about to call the police, so she had to say something.   “The first stupid thing that came into your head!” he snarls.
"If I didn't support you – you'd be in jail now!"
Now she is becoming angry;  “This all comes back to you having so many secrets to hide!   If I didn’t support you – you’d be in jail now!”
"I would be happier in jail than living with you!"
In desperation, he demands, “Do you know what?   I should be there!
Seriously – Sioned is surprised?
“I would be happier in jail than living with you!”
