As she has a cup of tea at Penrhewl, Eileen tells Cadno that Jim came home on Sunday; “Well, I think it was Sunday – I don’t know what day it is at the moment. And it’s hard to know how Jim is – he doesn’t say much.”

| "She was terribly upset" |
and she replies that Angela was terribly upset. “Not upset enough to phone me, though!” he grunts.
Sioned takes her sister’s side; “Perhaps she doesn’t know what to say – why don’t you phone her?” Jim flatly refuses,

| "Do you think I don't know that?" |
“Do you think I don’t know that?” demands Jim, and retires to his bedroom.

![]() |
| "It was my fault she was hit by the car" |
Diane answers, “I’m not thinking about that – it was my fault that Sara was hit by the car. I criticised her for drinking alcohol when she was pregnant, and she walked off, straight into the path of the car.”
