| Ed jokes with his mate, Jason |
At Awyr Iach, Jason tells Ed that he heard about a bloke who advertised for a wife, and had hundreds of replies, all saying the same thing – “Take mine!” Ed laughs, but Sioned is there, lurking within earshot, and looking severe.
“You’re struggling without the boss here – I can help you after I deliver these parcels,” offers Ed.
![]() |
| "I've got work for you!" |
Sioned soon objects to that, insisting that he must deliver paperwork to the accountant and get more printer ink; then she has some fares for him. He can deliver the parcels tomorrow.
![]() |
| "We're a taxi company!" |
“We’re a taxi company, not a courier service,” she snaps, and instructs Jason, “Check with me when you have deliveries to do – I know when he’s available!” When she has stalked off,

| "I'll do the deliveries as well" |
Ed says that he can do the deliveries as well, and keep everyone happy. When Jason invites him for a pint after work,

| Sioned keeps him under surveillance |
again Sioned is eavesdropping.

| Diane has bought something big |
At Bryntirion, Diane has a large box delivered, and looks very pleased with herself.

| Egg and spoon tuition |
Garry has Gwern in training for the egg and spoon race;
![]() |
| Chester gives some assistance |
when his attention is distracted by a phone call, Chester sticks the ping pong ball to the spoon with chewing gum. Garry is subsequently delighted with Gwern’s performance,
![]() |
| "He's his Dad's son, all right!" |
until Dai takes the spoon and inverts it; “Yes, he’s his Dad’s son, all right!” is Dai’s caustic comment.
Apparently Dai has been forced into doing folk dancing at the festival,
![]() |
| "I won 'best sexy legs' twice!" |
and boasts that he won ‘Best Sexy Legs’ at Llanarthur carnival twice.
![]() |
| Then Dai turns on Chester |
Then he asks Chester, “What’s your contribution, then? It’s thanks to your antics we have to raise the money for Bethania. I hope you can prove to everyone that you’re not just a waster!”
![]() |
| "It's for the sake of the village, honest!" |
Chester asks if he can store some stuff in the garage until tomorrow. “It’s for the sake of the village, honest!” Garry agrees but does not want any funny business.
![]() |
| "I'm afraid our secretary is off today" |
At Awyr Iach, Jason is on the phone
![]() |
| "Are they going to fit Dai?" |
while Diane and Anita sort the folk dancing costumes, borrowed from the Mynach Dancers.
![]() |
| "Ah – it's my guardian angel!" |
As soon as Sara comes in, and is welcomed rather too effusively by Jason, Diane starts fussing over her, but when Sara sees what Anita is doing,
![]() |
| Sara is back to her normal complaining self |
she snarls, “Can you do that in your own time?”
Anita gathers up the costumes, assisted by Jason, and transports them to the Deri, ready for the rehearsal later.
![]() |
| Is Diane taking over control? |
Diane, who seems to be taking over Awyr Iach, tells Sara she has a surprise for them over at Bryntirion later.
![]() |
| "All right if I leave these here?" |
At the Deri, Dai is having second thoughts about taking part in the festival, and Anita tries to encourage Ed and Garry to join in.
![]() |
| Sioned is ordering Ed around again |
Just then, Sioned arrives and tells Ed he has a fare; he replies that his shift has ended, but she maintains that no-one else is available. “Siôn White needs to get to Llanelli urgently,” she insists; she removes the pint from his hand, telling him, “A driver who’s lost his licence is no good to me!” and instructs him to go.
![]() |
| "No need to ask who wears the trousers" |
Behind the bar, Garry comments, “No need to ask who wears the trousers in your house!”
![]() |
| "We're working for your mother now!" |
Jason says he would not like to work for Sioned, but Anita replies, “Well, we’re working for your mother now – I don’t know who’s worse!”
![]() |
| "Taxi? I didn't order a taxi" |
Ed arrives at Y Felin, but Siôn has no knowledge of any taxi for Llanelli, and Ed realises he has been set up by Sioned. “You can give me a lift into the village, if you like,” Siôn suggests.
![]() |
| "You're too soft on the workers!" |
As she locks up Awyr Iach, Diane reprimands Jason for being too soft on the workers; “Now that Sara is – er – unwell, we all have to pull together!”
![]() |
| Siôn agrees not to mention this |
Ed stops the taxi by the chip shop, and asks Siôn to keep the incident ‘under his hat’, as he would be the butt of jokes,
![]() |
| Sioned's giving me a hard time" |
explaining that Sioned is currently giving him a hard time. Siôn understands what that is like and remarks, “You look as if you have the weight of the world on your shoulders.
![]() |
| Siôn heads towards the Deri |
“It’s not wise to work with your wife, and spend too much time together.”
![]() |
| Garry has to take a photo of Dai |
Garry is amused by Dai’s folk dancing outfit. Dai explains why Colin and Eileen have not come; “They don’t want to make fools of themselves – anyway, everyone has lost interest by now.”
![]() |
| The festival has changed since Chester suggested it |
Chester looks at the leaflet, and sneers, “Folk dancing, Bardic contest? Cool!”
![]() |
| "It's middle class snobbery!" |
Siôn describes it as middle class snobbery,
![]() |
| "You're jealous you're not top dog!" |
but Dai accuses him of being jealous because he is not top dog. Chester predicts, “It will be an epic fail, anyway! It was my idea, before everyone took it over –
![]() |
| "I'll make sure it doesn't fail!" |
“but I’ll make sure it doesn’t fail!”
![]() |
| "I'll give the villagers a shock!" |
On his way out, he tells Siôn, “I’m expecting to give the villagers a shock!” Garry would like a word with Siôn upstairs.
![]() |
| "You didn't have to embarrass me like that" |
Ed is in a foul mood when Sioned walks in, and tells her, “You didn’t have to embarrass me in front of everyone in the Deri. I hope sending me to Y Felin was an honest mistake.”
![]() |
| "Siôn has lost everything" |
She explains, “I wanted you to go in the house and see Siôn, a man who’s lost everything – possessions, wife, family. He’s in that house on his own, and nobody cares.”
![]() |
| "At least he can have a pint when he likes!" |
Ed replies that at least he can have a pint when he wants one.
She goes on, “You’ve got a wonderful life compared with him – but it would be a lot better if you found us a house!
![]() |
| "Make sure you're back at 5:30!" |
“You can go for a pint now, but don’t be long. Dinner is at 5:30 – right?”
![]() |
| "The effect it will have on Gwern" |
In the Deri flat, Garry complains that Gwyneth is again seeing Siôn, and he is concerned about the effect it will have on Gwern.
![]() |
| "You think I'm a bad influence?" |
“So you think I’m a bad influence on him?” enquires Siôn.
![]() |
| "I'm not the one wearing the tag!" |
Garry insists that he wants the best possible upbringing for Gwern, and reminds Siôn, “I’m not the one wearing that tag! You can go now, and be grateful I’m not banning you from the Deri.”
![]() |
| Siôn seems to find this amusing |
Siôn chuckles as he leaves.
![]() |
| Diane has now elevated herself to manager |
At Bryntirion, Diane informs Sara, “With me as manager, you could start your maternity leave now. You must put yourself and the baby first.
![]() |
| "Plenty of vegetables!" |
“I’ve made us a healthy dinner tonight – plenty of vegetables!” Then she goes to fetch the surprise from outside the back door.
![]() |
| Dai's cobweb-covered pram . . . |
Meanwhile, Dai is manoeuvring a cobweb-covered pram through the front door, and when Jason has removed the surprise from its box,
![]() |
| . . . and a posh one, straight out of the box |
it is, coincidentally, a pram, though much more modern and expensive.
![]() |
| They bicker over the prams |
Dai and Diane argue about the merits of their respective purchases, Diane’s being top of the range, and Dai’s being built like a 4x4, ideal to take jogging. “You don’t know where it’s been!” scoffs Diane, “It will be covered in germs!”
![]() |
| "I'd like to see you jogging behind that!" |
Jason says he would pay good money to see Dai jogging behind it.
![]() |
| "Stop behaving like this!" |
Sara finally explodes, “Stop behaving like this! I’m only two months gone, and don’t believe in buying baby stuff too early – it’s unlucky! I want you to take them back; Jason and I will buy a pram when the time is right.
![]() |
| "I don't want you fussing for the next seven months!" |
“I don’t want you fussing for the next seven months – I haven’t got used to the idea myself yet!”
![]() |
| Dai and Diane look dumbfounded |
She tells Jason they are going home.
![]() |
| "I wouldn't put a dog in there!" |
Diane dismissively remarks, “I wouldn’t put a dog in there!” then she and Dai burst out laughing.
![]() |
| Sioned is clock-watching |
Sioned has been checking the time on her phone, and when Ed returns, it is 17:32.
![]() |
| "Had more important things to do, did you?" |
“You decided to come back then?” she moans, “You’re late! Had more important things to do, did you? Like sharing jokes with Jason? Why didn’t you come back earlier?
![]() |
| "You knew I was here on my own" |
“You knew I was here on my own.”
Ed suggests that she is making a mountain out of a molehill, but she is having none of that.
![]() |
| "I'm being ignored!" |
“No – I’m being ignored! You make deals at Awyr Iach without consulting me – go for a pint with Jason without telling me – and you come back late!
![]() |
| Her face contorted with rage |
“Who do you think you are?”
Ed wants to quietly get on with his dinner,
![]() |
| "Hey – that's my dinner!" |
but she snatches the plate and empties the food in the bin, whilst snarling at him “If you’re not going to respect me, I won’t respect you!
![]() |
| He has murdered before, Sioned . . . |
“Find your own dinner!”
