Dai looks at the NHS Choices website as he makes a phone call; “No, I’m not the father, but I want some advice – I want to persuade her not to have an abortion – she’s making the wrong decision!

| DJ is disgusted by Dai's attempts |
DJ comes in and refuses breakfast; “I think you’ve done enough!” he tells Dai, “Did you really think that Cadno would take me back because I’d been with other women while she was in hospital? I told you not to interfere!

| "Stick to being an uncle!" |
“If this is the kind of father you are, stick to being an uncle!”
Seeing the box on the table, he asks what it is, and Dai tells him it is a gift for a friend who needs his help. DJ is very dismissive of him actually helping anyone.

| Ffion is tidying up |
Ffion has been up for ages, and when Gethin brings Arwen in, she asks, “Banana pancakes for breakfast?”

Arwen nods enthusiastically.

| "You must get some sleep" |
Gethin urges Ffion that she must get some sleep, but she replies, “I can’t, after that last nightmare!”
He reminds her that Garry assured them they are safe now;

she snaps, “But I’m not, because I’m drinking again – according to you!” He apologises for accusing her, but she has been acting weirdly lately. “And every time something affects me, you’re going to accuse me of being back on the bottle,” she growls.

She decides she is not going to school today.

| "You look terrible!" |
Sara comes downstairs; Jason remarks that she looks terrible, and asks why they cannot tell everyone about the baby.

“I don’t want to say anything until after the scan, and we know everything is all right” she answers.

| "Plenty of rest, water and sleep" |
She send him off to Awyr Iach, and he advises plenty of rest, water and sleep for her. Before he is out of the door, she is forced to rush upstairs once more.

Tyler returns to number 7, having turned off his phone over the weekend, as he needed time to think. He is only collecting things for school,

| Dol, behind the café counter |
Dol is working in the café, while Debbie cares for Mark; when Gwyneth comes in, she asks how Siôn is getting on.

Gwyneth tries to be upbeat about it; “Oh, he’s taking one step at a time.”

“Not too many steps after 7:00pm, though!” laughs Dol, adding, “I’ve been in his shoes – I can’t say too much, but if he wants someone who can fiddle the tag,

“I’m the woman for the job! I do charge though, obviously!”

| "Espresso, please" |
DJ comes in for an espresso, which unsettles Dol, as she has not made one before, and he announces that he is not DJ any more;

“It’s Richard! I don’t want people calling me DJ any more – DJ is a coward who lets people walk all over him. Richard is strong and takes no nonsense!”

| "Urgh! £2.70 for this?" |
He tastes the coffee and grimaces, not least because Dol has informed him that will cost £2.70.

| "Is Vicky single these days?" |
He asks if Vicky is single these days, and it just so happens that she is coming to the café this afternoon, so Dol suggests he comes back then; “Just leave it to Dolores,” she says.

| Gwyneth tries to enlist Iolo's assistance . . . |
Gwyneth goes to see Iolo, taking a bottle of wine with her; “It’s your father’s favourite – I thought you could take it over and build up his confidence, perhaps persuade him to go for a walk. He’s going through a difficult time, and you’re the best person to help him.”

Iolo thinks otherwise; “No, I cant! I always mess up, and I shall make things worse. Why don’t you phone Macs or Huw? Dad’s not the only one with problems – let me sort my own life out first. I’ve got enough to feel guilty about – you look after him!”

| Dai brings his shopping |
Dai arrives at Sara’s with his box; “I’ve done some shopping for you – that’s what fathers-in-law do!” She is rather surprised to see a cucumber in the box; he explains,

“It’s very good – you can put it on your eyes. I’ve read about it in Diane’s magazines. And ginger nuts – good for settling the stomach, as you’ve had this ‘bug’ for a week at least – it is a bug, isn’t it?”

Sara is keen to get rid of him, proposing she go and have a bath, but he insists on preparing lunch for her while she has gone; “I’m not going to leave you when you’re ill,” he says.

Gwyneth’s next stop is Cysgod y Glyn, where she explains to Ffion that Siôn will not open the door to anyone these days. She suggests that Arwen might be able to cheer him up.

Ffion, however, sees the wine bottle Gwyneth has with her and becomes agitated.

“What’s that? A little something to persuade me? You get me to drink, then phone Siôn to say that Arwen is at risk, to get him out of the house! Why bring wine here? I don’t want to hear your lies – go away!

“You’ll never buy me with alcohol – Arwen comes first every time! Go back and tell him that Arwen is safe with her Mam.”

At the garage, Gethin is on his phone; “She has had sessions with your therapist in the past, but I doubt she would be willing to make the appointment herself.” His attempt seems to be unsuccessful.

Dol is finishing her shift when DJ comes in for his meeting with Vicky; Dol sits him down and asks, “Tell me why you’re acting so strangely – you’ve changed your name for a start.” DJ explains he is fed up with people laughing at him – especially Eifion.

“The traffic warden who had a wife who pretended to be ill? Why care about what he thinks? You’re twice the man he’ll ever be! Changing your name won’t change who you are in your heart. Didn’t you run off to New Zealand to start a new life?

“Whatever you’re running away from is still haunting you – am I right to think it’s a lady – whose name starts with a C, and ends with an adno?”

but Dol points out, “Love is simple and life is short – remember that! Much as I’d love our Vicks to find a lovely hunk like you, your heart belongs to someone else. You’re too nice a bloke for her anyway – she’s got awful taste in men, like her Mam!”

DJ thanks her for the advice and she replies, “No problem, Richard.” He corrects her that it has reverted to DJ.

Dai serves some soup to Sara; “This will give you strength – it’s important to look after yourself. I know what they say about me in the village – that I’m all chops! But family means everything to me – you, Diane, Jason, and DJ – I’d do anything for you!

when Jason returns home, and she chickens out, referring instead to food poisoning. Dai reluctantly leaves,

and Jason tells her, “You were going to tell him, weren’t you? And after all you said this morning.” She suggests that if the scan goes well tomorrow, they should tell Dai, as he has been so nice to her.

Ffion brings home the shopping,

| "You won't find anything in there" |
and advises Gethin, “You won’t find anything in there – I know what you’re thinking! Gwyneth came over earlier, with a bottle of wine, and it turned my stomach!”

Gethin feels guilty for doubting her, but she concedes, “You might be right – I didn’t drink, but I was tempted. Seeing that wine took me back to a terrible place – I just wanted to get it out of here!

“I have to be more honest about the fact that I am going to be tempted sometimes. I talked to the therapist today, and he mentioned someone was trying to book an appointment for me.”

Gethin looks sheepish, but is told,

“Thank you – I should have gone to see him ages ago. You shouldn’t have to shoulder the burden every time – it’s not fair. I can be difficult sometimes, but after a good night’s sleep and seeing the therapist,

When Dai returns home to Bryntirion, DJ apologises for being hard on him, and vows, “I’m going to get Cadno back, aren’t I? When you want something, you have to go out of your way to prove your worth!”

Dai agrees; “You have to do what makes you happy, not listen to an old gronk like me. I’m not much of a father – I either say too much or not enough!” DJ simply encourages him to keep his nose out.

Tyler returns, and Iolo apologises to him; “Mel had been here, and my head was all over the place. I should never have accused you of reporting her –

Tyler is looking rather uncomfortable, and wants to forget about her, proposing they have beans on toast, “With those little sausages.”

Iolo describes that as, “Perfect – the one person I can rely on. Thank you for forgiving me!”
