Delicious breakfast, coming up
DJ is cooking a fry-up for breakfast – which smells lovely;
"Tell Diane I had porridge"
“If Diane asks, say I had porridge with skimmed milk,” says Dai.
DJ has concluded that he cannot stay in Cwmderi, and does not know how he can get through this.   Dai replies, “By not running away again!”
"I don't stand a chance!"
“You saw the look on her face – I don’t stand a chance!” DJ insists,
Dai has a masterplan
but Dai explains he has a masterplan, in which they have to make Cadno jealous.   “But it’s my fault,” DJ tells him, “I want her to forgive me – your masterplan will only push her further away – don’t interfere!”
"Aren't you going to eat this breakfast?"
Dai continues to badger him, so he leaves his breakfast and goes outside;
"Don't want to waste it!"
Dai snaffles one of his sausages.
"It's handy to have live-in babysitters"
In the café, Gwyneth is telling Debbie that it is not ideal, but it is handy to have Jason and Sara to look after Gwern sometimes.   Debbie reveals that Mark is coming home today,
"It makes you think, when you hear things like that"
and that over the weekend she had been warned to prepare for the worst;  “It makes you think when you hear things like that!” she says, then enquires, “How are things with Siôn?   Am I allowed to ask?”
Gwyneth admits that Siôn has made his feelings quite clear, and there is no point in trying any more;  “Sometimes you have to admit defeat!”   Debbie demands what has happened to her fighting spirit.
Gwyneth sets her sights on the chocolate cake
“How much is that whole cake?” asks Gwyneth.
In the shop flat, Jim rushes in, pursued by Sioned, her hair wrapped in a towel;
"Can't one of you fix that lock?"
“Surely one of you can fix that lock on the bathroom door!” she shouts.   Jim remarks that knocking is cheaper, then comes to the conclusion that they cannot carry on like this, or someone will get killed.
"More room if one of us was locked up!"
Sioned fixes her gaze on Ed and comments, “Well, there would be more room if one of us was locked up!”
Jim wants to get rid of the pair of them (and who can blame him)
“You’re coming with me to look at a flat in Maes-y-Deri,” Jim tells them, “We’re family – and family help each other.   I’m going to loan you £5,000 to put down as a deposit on that flat.”   Sioned asks when he and her Mam decided this, and he answers, “I came to that decision thirty seconds ago – I’m sure your Mam will agree.”
"It's enough to secure this flat!"
Sioned does not wish to sound ungrateful, but says that £5,000 is not enough for a deposit on a house in the area;  “No, but it’s enough to secure this flat,” replies Jim, “I know the estate agent – I’ll phone him now!”   Sioned turns her nose up at the very mention of Maes-y-Deri.
Siôn is getting very wet
Siôn stands, without a coat, in the garden of Y Felin in the pouring rain, looking up into the trees;  Gwyneth arrives with her red umbrella.
"Quiet, you'll scare the birds"
“Don’t make a noise, or you’ll scare them – the birds,” he tells her, “I’ve named them, and the same ones come here each day.
"I'll get them sitting on my hand"
It’s only a matter of time before they sit on my hand – by the Autumn, perhaps.   Why are you not at the wedding?”
Gwyneth is surprised he has not heard about the cancellation.
She thinks he is losing his marbles
“That’s a pity,” Siôn says casually, then adds,
"They're calling for me!"
“Listen – did you hear that?   They’re calling for me!”
Off he goes, in answer to the call
So saying, he walks off into the trees.
Mark has some bad news
Mark has arrived back at the café flat, and has news for Debbie;  “I had the results back today – they’re not good.   According to Dr Phillips, my kidney – the one I had from Stacey – is going to fail.”
"No, that can't be right!"
Debbie insists that he is mistaken.
"It's going to fail"
He continues, “It’s all right at the moment, and if I look after it, it will last longer – but it is going to fail.”   Debbie cannot accept this, as she maintains he looks a hundred times better than last week.
Cadno looks rather sceptical . . .
At Penrhewl, Dai admits this is difficult, but he must speak to Cadno;  “He’s sent you here, hasn’t he?” she demands.   Dai explains that DJ does not know he is there, but he has to tell her something to avoid any gossip.
. . . as Dai tells her a far-fetched tale
“Some say that DJ is crazy, coming back after what happened when he was out there.   He made an impression in New Zealand – not just cooking and shearing, but – and this is difficult to say – he was very popular with the ladies out there.
"He left that all behind – for you!"
Not that anything happened – but he left all that behind and returned here – for you!   It’s not too late for you to throw your hat into the ring.   I’m only the messenger!”
"Don't take your boots off, Eifion!"
Eifion has just come in from the farmyard;  Cadno tells him, “Don’t take your boots off – the messenger might need some help to leave if he doesn’t go now!”   She advises Dai that he has said more than enough.
"He forgot all about me the moment he left!"
When Dai has retreated, Cadno remarks to Eifion, “Obviously the swine forgot all about me the moment he left – to think he had the nerve to send Dai over here – he’s gone too far!   That stuff of his in the shed – put it in the pick-up.   I’m going to see Casanova to give him his rubbish back!”
Devious Eifion
Eifion smiles.

Tea and cake  – in the garden shed
Inside the garden shed at Y Felin, where the rain is still pouring down, Gwyneth pours tea from her flask, and they have a slice of cake.   She remarks that it is like tea in the vestry.
"I don't need religion any more
“I don’t need religion any more,” Siôn insists, but Gwyneth stresses that she misses him, as does Gwern.
"This is where my future lies"
He continues, “That was all in the past – this is where my future lies.”   He takes her hand and assures her, “Stop wasting your time worrying about me, and focus on your own life.   Now I think you’d better leave.”
No response at all from Siôn
She insists she is not giving up on him, but when she tries to kiss him, there is no response, so she walks out into the heavy rain (leaving him with a lot of cake to eat).
Must have been a very localised shower at Y Felin
Sioned and Ed are standing outside the flat (where, surprisingly, it is not raining) while Jim phones the estate agent.   “Where are you?   We’re outside the flat.   No, we can’t come back tonight!”   Apparently he is in Aberaeron.
"I've still got the key"
Jim persuades them to have a look at Mark’s house, right opposite, as he still has the key;  “You can have a look at the layout of the houses,” he says.
Doesn't she look enthusiastic?
Sioned is far from eager.
Mark has to prepare for the inevitable
Mark tells Debbie that he has to go back next week, when he is stronger, to sort things out and prepare.
Debbie will not accept the diagnosis
She insists that they would not have discharged him if he were not better, and it is obvious they were mistaken.   “Listen, Debs,” he emphasises, “They know what they’re doing.”
DJ's quiet read of the paper is disturbed
Dai and DJ are sitting in Bryntirion,
"Yes, it's who I thought it was"
when they hear a car arriving;
DJ is confronted by Cadno
Dai opens the door and welcomes Cadno, but tells Eifion, “There’s no need for you to stay – she’s safe with us.”
"He told me all about your harem!"
“Where are all the ladies who were chasing you in New Zealand?” asks Cadno, “Your father told me all about your harem – did you break their hearts and leave them there, like you did to me?   While Eifion dumps your rubbish outside the door, is there anything you want to say?”
"I only came back for one reason!"
DJ replies, “I don’t know what Dad’s been saying, but it’s not true.   I only came back for one reason – and that’s you!”
Cadno is not going to fall for that
She maintains he made his feelings quite clear when he left her lying in hospital, and advises him to stop all these lies.
"I only asked you to do one thing"
He turns to his father;  “I only asked you to do one thing – just one thing.   You had to interfere – why, Dad?   I’ll have to move on – far away from here.”
"Don't do anything rash!"
Dai urges him not to do anything rash, just because of his father’s stupidity, and retreats to the Deri.
Sioned storms off down the road
Coming out of the Jones house, Sioned has had enough and stomps off down the road, ignoring Ed’s protests.
"Why didn't you stop?"
Later, when Ed gets back home, he asks why she did not stop when he called after her.
"I can't believe you agreed to view that dump!"
Sioned starts on him, “Do you have such a low opinion of me?   I can’t believe you agreed to view that dump!
"How much lower do we have to stoop?"
How much lower do we have to stoop before you start acting like a man, and show a bit of backbone?   You promised to look after me and love me – is this what you had in mind?   A flat in Maes-y-Deri?
Ed sits there and takes it
You could show me some respect – you used to say you’d do anything for me!
"Do you think that pigsty is good enough for me?"
Do you think that pigsty is good enough for me?   Don’t you ever humiliate me like that again!”
Debbie finds that Mark is telling the truth
Debbie has phoned the hospital, but is told that there is no mistake;
"I've never known anyone like you!"
Mark says that he has never known anyone like her.
"We have to get you on the transplant list!"
“The first thing we must do is get you on the transplant list,” she insists, but he replies that he cannot be put on that list until the kidney fails.
"Let's have a normal night tonight"
“It would be nice to have a normal night tonight,” he suggests,
They hug
and they embrace.
