7 September 2016

"What time did you get in last night?"
Gaynor looks at Sam’s collection of bottles on the table, and asks what time he got in last night – or this morning.
"Oh, about five"
He confesses that it was about five, and that he was down at Neyland with Nigel.   Gaynor wants the wine removed.
"Eifion's dodgy photos"
“There’s gossip about you in the village – about dodgy photos that Eifion has,” says Sam.
"I thought that had blown over"
Gaynor had been hoping that it would have blown over by now, and does not want to draw attention to herself.
Cadno is getting Bobi ready for his first day at school;  he is not keen to go,
"Will you come with me?"
and she asks for Eifion to come with her, but he insists he has to be at the market.   “I know exactly what DJ would do,” she muses, but Eifion reminds her he is not DJ.
"I thought you'd done a Siôn White!"
When Colin sees Gaynor by the shop, he asks where she has been hiding;  “I thought you’d done a Siôn White!” he jokes, adding that Eileen saw Siôn last night and could not get any sense out of him.   “He wants everyone to respect his right to privacy – I thinks he’s ashamed of wearing that tag.”
"I know just what it's like!"
Gaynor knows what it is like, with everyone talking about him behind his back.
"I hear it all, behind that till"
Colin replies that he hears it all behind that till.   Then Anita approaches, asking if Gaynor will be at the committee meeting in the café at lunchtime tomorrow, but she has an appointment in Carmarthen.
"I heard that . . ."
As soon as Gaynor has gone, Anita remarks, “How is she?   I heard that . . .”   Colin cuts her off, asking what he can get her.
Ed does some housework
Ed is vacuuming in the shop flat, arguing that it is only fair that they help out.   He is about to take a fare to Swansea, and suggests that he and Sioned go to the cinema.
"You always pick rubbish!"
She denigrates him;  “I don’t trust your choice of films – you always pick rubbish!”   He tells her to choose, and he will pick up the tickets while in Swansea.
Garry is busy
As Garry cleans the Deri windows, Sam arrives and Garry asks him, “Do you want me to stash the booze you pilfered from Y Felin?   Dol told me – she was furious!”
"You ought to see how much Dol took!"
Sam replies that he ought to see how much Dol took from the cocktail cabinet, then advises that he wants a word with Garry.
"When Harry met Sally!"
Downstairs in the shop, Colin reminisces, “It’s been years since I went to the flicks – the last time was When Harry met Sally – it made Gaynor and me laugh.
The divorce came through a few months after that.   You’ll have a lovely time – bag of popcorn, back seats!”
“I can understand now why Gaynor divorced you,” says Sioned, and continues,
"The whole of Cwmderi knows"
“It must be hard, hearing about Gaynor and Eifion.   The whole of Cwmderi knows about the photos.   But what bothers me is that Eifion took them!”
Colin does not like what he hears
Colin wants to know what she means, and after he badgers her, she reveals, “When I lived at Penrhewl, he was hassling me.   It was a bit of fun at first, but then he got really obsessive – he took photos of me in the shower, without me knowing!”
"I'm off to the awards ceremony"
Kelly comes in, announcing she is going to the Western Post’s annual inhouse awards ceremony;  “You know – food, booze and awards!”   She is Ed’s fare to Swansea,
Sioned is not happy
and Sioned does not look particularly happy about it.
A bottle of expensive, vintage something
In the Deri, Sam has a proposition for Garry;  he opens a box containing a vintage bottle,
"There's a lot of profit in spirits"
explaining, “As well as wine, there’s a market for spirits.   Nigel and I worked out what sort of profit can be made.”
"Nigel has contacts on the continent"
Garry seems interested in learning more, so Sam goes on, “Nigel has contacts on the continent, and can import anything we want.   This stuff is good quality.”
"It's got potential"
Garry considers the idea has potential, and they will talk again.
"There's a very dark side to Eifion!"
Colin goes round to see Gaynor, and asks, “Has he been stalking you?   There’s a very dark side to Eifion – I’m warning you, that’s all.   He took some pictures of Sioned a few years ago without her knowing – she was naked, and things turned very nasty!   I doubt that burying your head in the sand is the answer.”
"He's just making up the stories!"
Gaynor is adamant that there are no photos, and that Eifion is making up stories, which people believe.
"Eifion, can you come and see me?"
She phones him and asks him to come to Llwyncelyn at four this afternoon.
"Shall I hide upstairs?"
Colin offers to hide upstairs as back-up, but she considers this will not be necessary.
Sam hides away his wine bottles
As Sam puts bottles into Anita’s sideboard, he boasts that he has sold one already, and when he has got rid of the rest, he will take her away for a weekend.   “I’ll book it in the laptop I got from Siôn yesterday!”
"You ought to give that back"
Anita is of the opinion that he should give the laptop back, or at least to Iolo, in case Siôn changes his mind, but Sam’s response is, “Finders keepers,
"He wants to get rid of everything"
and he wouldn’t accept it, anyway – he wants to get rid of everything.”
He suggests a weekend in Oporto;
"And Garry's on board too"
“Nigel and I have plans to make money – and Garry’s on board too.”
"Garry is a man not to be trusted"
Anita warns him be careful around Garry, as he is not to be trusted, but Sam maintains that he and Garry understand each other.
Cadno is upset about Bobi
Eifion returns to the farm, pleased that he obtained a good price for the two cows they sold, but finds Cadno depressed, as Bobi virtually had to be dragged into school.   She has arranged to meet the head at four,
"No, I can't come"
but is angry that Eifion has another commitment at that time.
"You don't care about anyone but yourself!"
“Bobi means nothing to you!   You don’t care about anyone but yourself!” she shouts.
"Have you thought about it?"
Sam is eager for a decision from Garry, but he is told, “You’re a nice enough bloke, but I don’t want you ending up in prison!
"Don't mess with the Customs and Excise!"
You don’t mess with the Customs and Excise – their boys can be ruthless!”   Sam is adamant that Nigel can also be ruthless.
"He's an idiot – and so are you!"
Garry spells it out, “He’s an idiot – and so are you!   The best thing is to forget it – I’ve lived long enough to know what’s what, and there’s a price to pay if you try to be too clever.”
It's the 'Journalist of the Year'!
Kelly arrives home in jubilant mood, with flowers and a £100 shopping voucher;  “I’m Western Post Journalist of the Year!” she exclaims, You should have heard the editor!”
She hugs Ed . . .
In her ecstasy she flings her arms round Ed, who looks surprised.   Then she wants Anita to pay Ed the £30 fare, as she has no cash.
. . . and then Auntie Anita
She and Anita are going to celebrate in the Deri.
"I haven't done anything – honest!"
When Ed arrives back at the shop flat, he is worried about the smell of perfume on his jacket.   “She was so excited, she hugged me – but I haven’t done anything,” he admits, contritely, to Sioned.
"You're not scared of me, are you?"
“What did you think I was going to do?” she demands, “You’re not scared of me, are you?”
"I want you to delete the photos"
When Eifion gets to Llwyncelyn, Gaynor asks him to delete the photos from his phone, as they might get made public.
"I'm the only one who will see them"
He insists that as they are on his phone, he is the only one who will see them.   He wonders,
Gaynor does not appear to believe him
“Why would I want to cause you harm?   I’m the last person who would put them on the internet!”   Then he has a text to pick up Cadno from the school, and so leaves.
"Whoa!   Hold your horses, Dad!"
Colin urges his father, “Hold your horses!   You know what happened the last time you got involved in one of Nigel’s scams!   He’s crazy – Waccy-Baccy is his middle name!”
Kelly is proud of her achievement
Anita and Kelly come into the Deri and Kelly announces her accomplishment.
"We're going to celebrate with Kelly!"
Ed wants to leave, but when Sioned joins him, she tells him they are going to celebrate with Kelly.
"He was worried I'd think he was having an affair!"
Then she says, “Ed was worried I’d think he was having an affair, as he had perfume on his jacket!”
Ed is going to be humiliated even more
She turns to the cringing Ed,
"I was only showing how ridiculous you can be!"
and tells him, “I was only showing how ridiculous you can be sometimes!”
"Do it somewhere else!"
Garry joins Sam and Colin, informing them, “If you want to discuss scams, do it somewhere else!”   Colin implores Sam to stop this nonsense with Nigel.
"You weren't much help!"
Cadno reports that the school are confident that Bobi will settle down, but complains, “You weren’t much help – couldn’t even spare half an hour!
"What are you smiling about?"
What are you smiling about?   You’ve been on that phone ever since we got back.
"Come on then, Bobi!"
You can go and give Bobi a bath, then read him a bedtime story.”

Gaynor is depressed . . .
Gaynor sits at the bottom of the stairs at Llwyncelyn.   Her text tone sounds and she sees the threatening message from Eifion;
. . . and the text from Eifion does not help matters
“You know I’ve got more.”
What is she to do?
Very troubled, she looks into the oval mirror by the door.
