In the café. Mark is sure that Dai will kill him; “When I was in prison, I shared a cell with a bloke from Carmarthen, called Gordon – maybe he could help – I don’t have any choice!” Debbie warns him to be careful.

Ffion and Anita come in for coffee, hoping that they will have a good crowd for their inaugural meeting. Debbie enquires if Siôn White will be on the committee;

Anita replies, “I called at Y Felin last night, but his head’s not in the right place – he wouldn’t even take the laptop back, and I had to give it to Iolo.”

By the stairs, Mark phones this Gordon, asking for a favour.

| "He doesn't suspect a thing!" |
The birthday party preparations are in full swing at Brytirion, with caterers at work. “He doesn’t suspect a thing,” chuckles Diane, “Imagine the surprise he’ll get at one!”

| "Yes, Mam, I ordered the taxi for 2:00pm" |
Jason has booked Ed’s taxi to take her and Dai to Bristol, for their hot air balloon trip, at two o’clock.
In the Deri, Gethin tells Garry about the new exhaust for Eifion’s van, but Garry is preoccupied,

and demands, “Where’s Iolo? He’s supposed to be here!

“He and your dear brother are responsible for this mess!” he tells Dani.

| "Right, we're off to Nant y Dderwen!" |
As soon as Iolo walks in, Garry orders him, “Right, we’re off – to Nant y Dderwen Hotel, to get my money back!”

| "It will never be back to how it was!" |
The committee, consisting solely of Anita, Ffion and Megan, begins its deliberations; Megan is convinced they will never get Bethania back to how it was,

| "We need a multi-purpose building" |
but Ffion suggests, “Perhaps what we need is a multi-purpose building, not only for worship, but also for socialising and holding Eisteddfods.” When Megan protests that the vestry was for that purpose, Ffion goes on, “There won’t be a vestry, just one building.”

Debbie comes over to tell them, “With respect to Bethania, no-one used it – you should create a place to draw the crowds, where people can enjoy themselves. Karaoke, Bingo!”

Megan is outraged at the suggestion.
The meeting is concluded as Anita and Megan are off to Dai’s 62nd birthday party.

When Gethin enquires how it went,

| "Quite spirited!" |
Ffion describes it as, “Quite spirited! Someone has to push for change, or nothing will get done.”

Gethin thinks that this project will not do her any harm when it comes to the headship of the new school.
As a result of the phone call. Mark reports to Debbie that he is going to Carmarthen to meet Gordon, and is again urged to be careful.

At APD, Jason tells Dai, “Sara has made us some lunch, and we’ve got to be at Bryntirion at one.” Dai tells Jason to go, and he will follow in the van, as he has to price a job in Llanarthur this afternoon.

Despite Jason’s entreaties, Dai insists he will go in the van.
Before he leaves, he tries to contact Mark again, but with no success;

“He promised to pay for that bathroom today,” he tells Jim, “I don’t trust him!”

At last he goes;

Jim shuts up shop and laughs.

| Dani is sympathetic towards Iolo |
At the hotel, Dani concedes that if he and Tyler are not happy, there is no point in going ahead with the wedding. Garry is becoming irritable; Where on earth is this prat of a manager?” he grumbles. Dani pleads with him not to do anything stupid,

but he replies, “You’ve done something stupid – that’s why we’re here! You’ve had a week to get my money back – did you manage it?”

Then the manager appears; Garry instructs Dani and Iolo to stay there.

when she sees a bald man ringing the doorbell of Cysgod y Glyn; she panics and makes a hasty retreat.

In the café, Debbie says she fancies gate-crashing Dai’s party, but Gethin says he has work to do.

Then Ffion rushes in, reporting that one of Craig’s gang is trying to break into the flat;

Gethin goes to investigate.
Dai comes in, looking for Mark; “He’s gone to Carmarthen to get your money,” Debbie explains.

“Carmarthen today, Swansea yesterday – where will it be tomorrow?” demands Dai, “Cardiff, London, Zurich, Cayman Islands? Has he looked under the mattress? That’s where people like him keep their money”

The hotel manager points out, “It’s company policy, Mr Monk – there’s nothing more I can do!” Garry instructs him to stuff his policy and storms out of the office.

As Iolo tells Dani, “The court case is always on my mind, but Meleri has not contacted me again.”

Garry re-enters, full of smiles, and boasts that he has secured a refund of every penny.

He invites Iolo to bring over the invoice for the cellar work, and he will see what he can do. When the others have walked from the room, his face turns grim again.

The caterer has set out all the food, including the impressive cake, but Dai is still nowhere to be seen. Jim helps himself to a cake, then Hywel phones, saying he cannot postpone the rugby club’s rendition of Happy Birthday, as they have to go back to work

The radio at Maes-y-Deri is also on, but there are also sounds of loud banging and grunts of exertion coming from upstairs.

Iolo returns to number 7 and finds Meleri sitting in the kitchen;

When they have returned to the Deri, Garry will not reveal how he got the money refunded; “All that matters is, I got it back – but don’t go behind my back again!” Dani is now about to go to the party at Bryntirion.

Ffion comes in and tells Garry about the man trying to break into Cysgod y Glyn; Gethin adds that he was dressed like a meter reader.

Garry ventures the opinion, “Perhaps that’s what he was! After the boss was arrested, the gang fled abroad. Ffi, there’s no cause for concern!”

Meleri tells Iolo that after last week, she felt there was a connection between them, but they did not have enough time to talk.

Iolo replies, “Some of the comments you made about not being at ease among gay people – don’t think you told me the truth. Maybe you’ve got homosexual tendencies.”

Mel denies this, and is quite clear, “I know who I am, unlike you. You’re the one who needs help – I went on the internet and printed this – it will open your eyes, I think.”

She hands over a document, entitled ‘Conversion Therapy’.
Iolo is angry; “You’d better leave! Homosexuality isn’t a disease!” Mel assures him that he can be cured, but he insists that she must go.

Anita and Megan commiserate, after all the effort Diane had put into this party. Then Dani reports that a taxi has arrived outside.

“If he doesn’t come quickly, we shall miss this balloon ride as well!” rages Diane.

Mark is dejected as he returns to the café; “He never turned up!” he tells Debbie,

As Debbie tries to comfort him, Jim arrives, looking for Dai;

“He didn’t turn up for his surprise party – and APD is locked up!” Mark realises that Dai still has a key to Maes-y-Deri, and threatened to take the bath out;

Tyler is irate when he finds the papers Meleri brought, but Iolo tries to explain.

“She is trying to help me – she doesn’t think I am actually gay. But I think she’s a lost soul who doesn’t know who she is. She is young and messed up – and got in with the wrong crowd.”

Tyler maintains she is just manipulating him to change his evidence, and orders Iolo not to let her in the house again.

as Mark, Debbie and Jim arrive; “Tough – you’ve had your chance!” Dai shouts.

Then Diane joins them, and Dai looks in astonishment;

“What are you doing here? You’re supposed to be on a cruise with Glenys Pop!”
Diane accuses him of spoiling everything, as usual;

“We’ve thrown a party for you at home – and we were supposed to be going up in a hot air balloon!”

Dai demands why she did not tell, him rather than playing games.

| Mark staggers, then collapses |
Meanwhile, Mark, who has been looking increasingly unwell during the episode, staggers into the livingroom and collapses on the floor.

As Dai calls it, “Amateur Dramatics,” Debbie realises that Mark is unconscious.
