Garry talks to Georgina
After speaking on the phone to his solicitor, Garry tells Chester that now it is only a matter of waiting for the appeal date;
He compliments Chester
“You did a good job there – according to Georgina you showed remorse without going overboard.”
Britt advises Garry that she did not tell him sooner, as she thought he would try and stop Chester from going to the police.
"Well done, Chester!"
Garry concludes, “The way it’s turned out, you’ve done him a favour – not many would hand themselves in like that.   Well done, Chest!”
"I booked two days off!"
Dai visits Penrhewl in search of Jim, who reminds him that he had booked two days off work, but Dai was not listening.
"DJ's here to do the farming"
“DJ’s here to do the farming,” argues Dai, “And this useless traffic warden!”   Eifion is about to go to the market, but DJ protests that he does that.
"I've got experience!"
“We need a good price – and I’ve got experience!” insists Eifion, so Dai orders him to sit down,
"Jim should have the last word"
and points out that Jim is the farm’s owner, so he gets the last word.   Eifion insists, “I’m an experienced farmer, and I want to be in charge of the lambs!”
Dai’s retort is, “Things have changed here since you ran away with that floozie, Angela!”
Decisions do not come easily to Jim
Jim does not welcome having to make a decision, and agrees that Eifion should go to market.
"Judas!"
Dai calls him, “Judas!”
"That couldn't have gone much worse!"
and DJ reckons the discussion could not have gone much worse.
"It's nearly lunchtime"
Sheryl is still at Cysgod y Glyn, and is not to keen to talk to Hywel when he arrives;  “Go and get dressed – it’s nearly lunchtime,” he says, “A shower will do you good.”
"No-one needs me"
She answers that she could stay in bed all day, as no-one needs her.
"The salon's been closed for a week"
Hywel reminds her that the salon has been closed for a week, but she is not interested.
Another new barmaid
Dai and DJ arrive at the Deri, where there is another new barmaid;  when he sees Chester,
Dai indulges in some Chester-baiting
Dai cannot resist commenting, “What have we here?   Out of prison already?   Typical Monk – getting away with it!”
Britt retaliates, You’ve got a nerve!   Your son put Cadno in hospital – no wonder she said Eifion’s name when she woke up!   He told us the other night.”
DJ objects to this
DJ is upset by this, and Dai tries to reassure him that he is the one Cadno wants.
"We need to focus on our relationship"
When she and Ed come in, Sioned is attempting to apologise for the way she has been recently;  “You’re right, we need to focus on our relationship.
Sioned flaunts her assets
I’ll buy us lunch – and a dessert!”
"More meat on it – like you!"
Ed fancies a rib-eye steak;  “There’s more meat on it – like you!” he smiles.
"That's what everyone is thinking"
Chester tells Britt, “What Dai said is what everyone is thinking!”   Garry maintains that everyone makes mistakes, but the important thing is learning from them.
"I've sorted out Penrhewl!"
Eifion is very pleased with himself when he returns to the farm;  “I’ve sorted out the lambs – and Penrhewl!   I bumped in to John ‘Ty Isa’.
"He offered to take over the farm"
He asked how Cadno is and offered to take over the farm.”
"Take over?"
Jim’s attention is immediately grabbed by this;  “Take over?” he exclaims.   Eifion replies that the farm will not last long without a farmer, John knows what’s what – and is starting on Monday.
“You had no right to agree to that!” rages Jim, and Eifion suggests they will thank him in a few months.
"Who do you think you are?"
“Who do you think you are?” thunders Jim, “Cadno, Eileen and I own Penrhewl – it’s nothing to do with you!”
"We have to be realistic!"
Eifion emphasises that they have to be realistic;  “There’s no point in being sentimental.   This is my children’s future, and it’s the only answer – otherwise say goodbye to Penrhewl for ever!”
In the Deri, DJ is anxious to get back to the farm, “To see what price that fool got for the lambs.”
"What's your game?"
Garry confronts Dai;  “What’s your game?   Picking on a fifteen-year-old boy is not acceptable!
"You'll be banned!"
If I hear you’ve been chopsy again, you’ll be banned!”   Then Garry admits to Britt, “He’s not going to be the most popular boy for a while, but what can you expect?”
"I'm going to phone Gloria"
Britt intends to phone Gloria and Neil, but Garry is adamant that Chester is not going to Newcastle, as he should be here with his family and friends.
"I want him here!"
“I want him here, where we can keep an eye on him!”   Britt suggests they have not made much of a job of that so far.
Garry orders two whiskies and sits by Hywel at the bar;
"You look as if you could do with a whisky"
“You look as if you could do with one,” he says.
Sioned turns up her alluring charms . . .
Sioned has enjoyed her rib-eye steak, and Ed thinks their lunch together was a good idea.   “I want to put us first – it’s nice to have you all to myself!” Sioned tells him,
. . . and her 'come-to-bed' eyes . . .
“You can have me all afternoon, if you want – Mam’s still away, and Jim’s at Penrhewl.”   Ed is easily persuaded,
. . . and Ed cannot get out of the door quick enough
and they hurry out of the Deri.
"You did the right thing, Hywel"
Garry asks Hywel if there is anything he can do;  “Can you take me back in time?” Hywel demands.   Garry replies that he did the right thing – someone was bound to find out in the end, but Hywel is not so sure.
"Do you know what this clown's done?"
When Dai and DJ arrive back at Penrhewl, Jim enlightens them, “Do you know what this clown’s done?   Without asking us, he’s agreed that Penrhewl should be placed in the hands of another farm!   That fool across the road is taking over on Monday!”
Dai and DJ are not happy
Dai is furious, but Eifion argues, “I won’t watch this place fail while you all play at farming!”   Dai stresses that DJ did a good job of farming while Eifion was playing happy families with ‘that lying wench’.
"I'm protecting my children's inheritance"
When Eifion insists he has a right to protect his children’s inheritance, DJ reminds him,
"Cadno would never let that happen!"
“Well, they’re Cadno’s children too, and she has a significant say in the matter – I suppose you discussed it with her?   She’d never let this happen – and you know it!   She’d do anything to keep this place going!   I’m not the one who threatened to give the keys to any Tom, Dick or Harry!”
"Go and put tickets on old women's cars!"
Eifion walks out, promising that they will regret this, and Dai comments acerbically, “Go and put tickets on old women’s cars – that’s all you’re good for!”
"They'd love to have you staying"
Britt has had a word with Gloria, who would love Chester to stay there;  “It will be a break from here, after all that has happened, and they’re the closest you have to grandparents,” she tells him.
Chester is in favour
Chester, at first reluctant, gradually warms to the idea.
"Don't miss this opportunity"
Garry confides to Hywel, “I missed the chance to be a father once or twice – Gwern might be the only child I have now.   You need to do everything possible to make sure you don’t miss out on this opportunity – it might be your last chance!”
"Sheryl has given up"
Hywel points out that Sheryl has given up, but Garry remarks, “There’s always a way!”
"We can be there before dark"
Britt tells Chester that there is a train at about five, so they can be there before dark.   As Garry approaches, Chester asks, “Does Gloria know what I did?” and Britt replies that she brought up Garry, so she has seen everything.
Garry is told that the decision has been made
She informs Garry that she has made the decision, as she is Chester’s mother, and he appears to accept this.
The half-time interval
Ed, stripped to the waist, is looking for a bottle-opener;  Sioned, in her dressing gown, urges him not to bother with that now.   “What, again?” he says, incredulously.
"You don't mind, do you?"
“You don’t mind, do you?” Sioned answers.
Ed becomes suspicious . . .
He queries whether she has taken her pill, as he did not see her do it.   “Of course!   Are you suggesting that I’m lying?” she snaps, “This is supposed to be our chance to be close again!”
“To get me to sleep with you!” he snarls, and opens the bag in which she keeps her pills.
. . . and finds the pills unused
“You’ve not taken any!”
“No!   And there’s nothing you can do about it!” he is told, emphatically, and he looks stunned.
Sheryl with her memories
Sheryl is looking at photos;
"These are all I have left!"
she tells Hywel, “All that they wanted was for someone to look after her – but I didn’t do that, did I?   These photos are all I have left!”
She dissolves into tears
She breaks down in tears, and Hywel hugs her.
"He won't try another stunt like that!"
Jim predicts that Eifion will not try another stunt like that,
"We shall have to watch him"
and DJ adds, “Dad was right – we shall have to watch him.   I’d better not tell Cadno – it will only upset her, and she’s getting worse.   She won’t be able to handle physical work for a while – it ever!”
"I'm moving in!"
Eifion suddenly reappears with his bags, announcing that he is moving in, and DJ objects most strongly.
"You can't leave Courtney on her own!"
Jim asks why he is leaving Courtney on her own, and he answers, “You’re her father – you sort her out!   The boys are my priority now, and this is their home.   It’s not fair to move them to the village, is it?   I’m taking these upstairs.”
Garry relaxes outside the Deri
As Garry sits outside the Deri, Britt and Chester come over,
"Would you like to take him up?"
about to leave for Newcastle.   Britt asks, “Would you like to take him up?   He’d love your company, and I’m sure Gloria and Neil would like to see you.”
"Right, we'll have a road trip!"
“Right, we’ll have a road trip!” says Garry.   Britt urges Chester not to forget to ring when they get there, and they set off.
"You've not thought this through"
Ed tells Sioned that she has not thought this through, but she simply asserts, “I want a baby and I’m going to have one!”
"We agreed to wait"
He argues that they agreed to wait, but she says, “I changed my mind – you weren’t complaining earlier!
"There's nothing you can do to stop me!"
This is what I want, Ed, and there’s nothing you can do to stop me!”
