The lack of Iolo's tidying influence is manifest
Number 7 is in a state of disarray as Ffion calls, hoping for a lift to school with Tyler, as her car has a puncture.   When Tyler tells her that Iolo has gone away for a few days, she says,
"Iolo will go mad!"
“You’d better start clearing up – he’ll go mad if he sees all this mess!”
Tyler replies that he is not likely to rush home – “Not until I move out!”
"I thought you two were happy"
Ffion thought the two of them were happy;  “Obviously you and I were wrong,” says Tyler.
"You can't keep ignoring me!"
Ed is back from some strenuous training;  “Is there a race coming up or something?” asks Sioned, “I’d love to come and support you.   You can’t keep on ignoring me!”
But he appears to have done so
He simply announces he is going for a shower.
Breakfast time at Bryntirion
At Bryntirion Dai and DJ are tucking into breakfast when Cadno comes visiting, with some photos of their weekend outing.
"We were like one big family!"
Diane comments that it makes them look like one big family, and apparently the boys are asking when they can go again.
Obviously they went to Aberystwyth
Dai tells Cadno, “We’ll go to the beach next time – those boys are a credit to you.”
DJ is a bit delicate
DJ is feeling rather delicate this morning as he and Dai polished off a bottle of brandy last night.
"I'm lucky to have her"
After Cadno has returned to the farm, DJ says he is lucky to have her;
"I'm going to ask her to marry me!"
“I’m going to ask her to marry me, so you two can be grandparents, like a proper family!”   Dai looks uneasy.
"The lesson started ten minutes ago!"
At school, Ffion sees pupils outside a classroom, and points out the lesson started ten minutes before.   Kyle tells her that the door is locked and Mr Davies has not arrived,
"Kyle, will you get the key from the office?"
so she sends him to the office for the key, deciding that she will cover this lesson.
"A surprise for Cadno!"
As he leaves, DJ informs Dai and Diane that he is organising a surprise for Cadno.   Diane hails this as an occasion to visit London to buy a hat, but Dai reminds her, “If she says yes!
"This is too sudden!"
I feel that this is a bit too sudden.   It was all off a few weeks ago!   Our life has changed overnight, and we are getting a chance to know the boys.
"Euphoria – that's what it is!"
Euphoria – that’s what it is!   A man does strange things when he’s full of euphoria!”
"Like using his brother's name in Paris?"
“Like using his brother’s name to go off with a single woman in Paris?” suggests Diane, but Dai insists he does not want DJ to make a mistake.
"He's going to get the best possible advice"
“It’s a father’s duty to make sure he makes the right decisions – I messed up the first thirty years of his life, now I’m going to make sure he gets the best possible advice.”
Diane maintains that he has no right to tell DJ anything;  “A piece of paper doesn’t mean you can say whatever you want!   It takes years to be a father.
"You can't help yourself"
“You can’t help yourself – you’ll say something and wreck your relationship!”
Dai leaves for APD, advising her, “I’m going to talk to the cement mixer – I’ll get more sense out of that!”
Ed has a nice healthy salad
As Ed toys with his salad at the cafĂ©,
"You could make some money out of fighting"
Dol mentions, “I heard about the fight – you could make money out of it.   The boys did, back in Ponty!”
"You're supposed to take the phone with you!"
Then Sioned comes in;  “The point of a phone is that you take it with you, so people can contact you,” she lectures him, “Brenda has been waiting fifteen minutes in the supermarket car park, and phoned to say the icecream is melting!   Come home, so we can talk properly.”
"I'll come home when I'm ready!"
Ed replies that he will come home when he is ready
DJ brings in some flowers
DJ puts some flowers on the table at Penrhewl and hides behind the sofa.   Cadno sees the flowers and assumes they are from Eifion, with whom she has had an argument.
"I thought they were from Eifion"
She tells DJ that she no longer wants to go on holiday to Halkidiki (in Greece, apparently) with Eifion, as she is now back with DJ.
"There's only one person I want to be with"
“There’s only one person I want to be with – and that’s you!” she emphasises.
The rather dishevelled Tyler arrives . . .
Tyler arrives at school and is reprimanded by Ffion;
. . . and is told off by the Deputy Head
“The children might take you more seriously if you dressed properly, and got to lessons on time!”
"Plenty of teachers have had to cover for you!"
He answers angrily, “From what I’ve heard, plenty of teachers have had to cover your lessons in the past!   Leave me alone!”
"A trip to the Royal Welsh Show"
DJ reveals he is going to pop the question while they are on a four-night trip to the Royal Welsh Show;  “With a bit of luck, I can borrow a caravan from Berwyn Garage, as he has a pitch as well.”
"Are going to propose by the portaloos?"
Dai responds, “Are you going to propose by the portaloos?   A caravan is punishment – not a holiday!”
"Well, what would you do, then?"
DJ asks what he would do, and,
"Mind what you say, Dai Ashurst!"
with Diane glowering at him, Dai begins, “I think . . .
"It should be up to you"
it should be up to you – you know Cadno better than anyone.”   DJ predicts that Builth Wells will not know what has hit it.
Dol looks at the contents of Anita's basket
In the shop, Dol peers into Anita’s basket and comments,
"The slippery slope and all that!"
“Biscuits and chocolate – you want to be careful – the slippery slope and all that!”
A bill for loss of earnings
She hands Anita a bill for £200 for loss of earnings.
"I'd still have a job if it weren't for your shenanigans!"
“I’d still have a job if it weren’t for your shenanigans!   You’d better cough up!”
"It's time we had a talk"
Ed returns as Sioned is taking the washing from the machine;  She says “It’s time we had a talk – it got out of hand yesterday.   I shouldn’t have reacted the way I did, and I’d love to turn the clock back.
"We've both been so stupid!"
We’ve both been so stupid!”
"We?   Are you serious?"
Ed turns in amazement;  “We?   Are you serious?”
"You didn't come home when I told you to"
She points out that if he had come home when she instructed him, it would not have happened.   “So it’s my fault, is it?” he demands, “All I did was have a laugh with Mark!”
Sioned asserts that he was trying to annoy her;
"And you spat in my face!"
“And you spat in my face!” he snarls, “I did think for a moment that you were going to apologise – but that was too much to ask.”
Diane is full of admiration
Diane compliments Dai on his handling of DJ;  “You kept it to yourself for once!   Uncle David would have messed up,
"You're not Uncle David any more, are you?"
but you’re not Uncle David any more, are you?”   He replies that she is talking nonsense, and he is the same bloke as before.
"No, I don't think you are!"
“No, I don’t think you are!” she insists.
"I know you're struggling"
Tyler is drinking at the bar in the Deri when Ffion arrives, and addresses him, “I know you’re struggling – I’m not talking about Iolo.”   Tyler realises she is accusing him of being an alcoholic.
"This is how it all starts"
“This is how it all starts – you can’t blame me for being concerned,” she continues, “You can’t miss lessons without explanation.”
He stresses that he likes a drink with the boys, but knows when to stop;
"I denied it, until it was too late!"
“I denied it, too, until it was too late!” states Ffion.
"Imagine being on holiday . . ."
DJ tells Cadno to sit down and close her eyes;  “Image you, me and the boys being on holiday – the boys playing, you and me relaxing with a cold beer – blue sky and everyone enjoying themselves.
"You'd better start packing!"
You’d better start packing – we’re going to the Royal Welsh in a caravan – I’ve borrowed one, with a shower and everything!”
"I hate caravans!"
He is rather deflated by Cadno’s reply;  “I hate caravans, since I lived in one with Eifion – it’s like sleeping in a skip!   You’re welcome to go!”
"Cottages will be booked by now"
DJ does not want to go alone, and any self-catering cottages will have been booked by now.
"What I did was wrong"
Sioned seems repentant;  “You’re right – what I did was wrong, and it’s not your fault!   I was so desperate to have a baby – frustrated – but that’s no excuse.
"Please don't hate me!"
I’m so sorry – please don’t hate me!”   She kisses him but receives no response.
"We've got the flat to ourselves!'
“We’ve got the flat to ourselves!” she adds,
"No!"
but Ed replies firmly in the negative.
“You’ll have to wait!” he tells her;  she asks until when,
"Until I say!"
and he answers, “Until I say!”
She is knocking on the door again
Ffion is again banging on the door of number 7, and Tyler reluctantly lets her in.
"You can get through it without drinking!"
“I’m sorry – breaking up with your boyfriend is tough, but you can get though it without drinking!”
"I'm not drinking!"
Despite Tyler’s vehement denials, she ploughs on,
"Alcohol will only make it worse!"
“You can fool yourself, but you can’t fool me!   I understand – you come home, lonely, missing Iolo, and you’re allowed to be upset, but alcohol will only make it worse!”

"Go and hassle someone else!"
He orders her to get out;  “Go and hassle someone else!   I don’t want you here – can’t you see that?   Just leave me alone!”
Ffion makes her exit
Ffion leaves the house.
