After they have gone, DJ looks depressed.

At Cysgod y Glyn, Sheryl is on the phone; “Esther Atieno,” she tells someone, “I’m Sheryl Hughes – I’ve not adopted her yet, because you took her away from me! When can I see her? No, you said that last week!

| "What's this – coffee morning?" |
At Maes-y-Deri, Dai and Jim sit at the table with Dol and Vicky; when Mark returns from his round, he wonders if this is a Mothers’ Union coffee morning, and Vicky explains that they needed a cup of tea, as the people next door have not provided them with one.
Dai and Jim are building an extension to the house next door. “They are extending right into the garden – eighth wonder of the world! I’m surprised you didn’t know about it!” says Dai.

It transpires that the letter the council sent about it was probably thrown away by Vicky.
“If it has ‘Mark’ on it, you shouldn’t be opening it!” insists Mark, and wants to know if it will be blocking the sun from his garden.

| "Imagine - a bedroom each!" |
Dol and Vicky begin whining about needing more space; “Imagine – a big kitchen, new bathroom – and a bedroom each!”

| "Unless you win the lottery . . ." |
Mark is quite clear that, unless they win the lottery, it will never happen.

| Hywel looks at photos |
Hywel sits in the café, looking at photos of Sheryl and Esther on his phone;

| "Until proven guilty!" |
Debbie comments that she has not seen Sheryl for days. Hywel stresses that Sheryl is innocent, but Debbie adds, “Until proven guilty – this is not the first time she’s done something stupid!

| "She tried to kidnap our Nicky!" |
“I wasn’t going to say, but it’s only right that you know – she tried to kidnap our Nicky!”
She is amazed when Hywel points out that Sheryl was ‘in a very dark place’ at the time.

“You knew?” she exclaims, “She’s desperate for a baby and will do anything to have one! If she wanted to do it right,

“there are plenty of children here, without going to Swahililand!”

| Jim describes the extension in glowing terms |
As Dol and Vicky continue to visualise a larger house, Jim suggests, “The kitchen could be halfway down the garden!”

Mark still maintains that they cannot possibly afford such a thing,

but Dai advises that he is not aware just how affordable APD’s prices are. Vicky moans that she and Nicky are on top of each other in the boxroom.

Jim offers to prepare them a quote, and under pressure from Dol and Vicky, Mark agrees.

As the boys sit on Cadno’s bed, Eifion tells her how they are helping with feeding the dogs and hens.

When Bobi and Arthur play with toys on the other side of the room, she asks how he really is coping;

Cadno is disappointed that DJ did not come with them, but rather sent the bag of clothes; she looks worried,

| Sheryl is at work on the laptop |
Sheryl is busily typing on the laptop at Cysgod y Glyn when Hywel arrives. Apparently, Ffion, Gethin and Arwen are visiting Nesta. “I’ve been busy, keeping up with the Home Office, Social Services and the council,” she tells him.

| "You have to go to the police station" |
He reminds her that she has to report to the police station,

| "I have to finish this first!" |
but she is insistent that first she has to complete her e-mail to the Home Office.

| "Losing your temper is not going to help" |
He advises that losing her temper with them will not help, but she replies, “What am I supposed to do – be nice and let them walk all over me? I want to finish this – I’ll only be five minutes!” He urges her to tone it down a bit, but she snaps, “I’ll write it how I want, Hywel!”

Debbie walks into Maes-y-Deri and is told they are having an extension; Mark quickly points out he is just obtaining a quote. “You can’t afford that – it will cost thousands!” says Debbie, incredulously,

“You’re off your head – you’ll get into debt.” Mark explains that he is only getting a quote to prove the point that the idea is unaffordable.

| Diane has cooked a meal for DJ |
DJ is at Bryntirion, where he is served a meal by Diane, who is surprised that he has not been to visit Cadno; “Dai will take you later, after work,” she tells him.

DJ points out that she was very distant with him yesterday, and when she came round from the coma, she did not want him, but Eifion. Dai insists, “Everyone knows that you and Cadno love each other!”

DJ reminds him, “I almost killed Cadno – she doesn’t want to see me.”

| "She is getting better now" |
Dai stresses that accident could have happened to anyone, and Diane adds that Cadno is now getting better.

“By the way, has anyone spoken to Mam?” DJ enquires, “I can’t get hold of her, and I get the feeling she just does not want to know.”

At the hospital, Eifion tells Cadno how the sheep will be going to market on Thursday; “I know what I’m doing – it soon came back to me.”

Then Bobi whispers in his ear; “He wants to know when you’re coming home. I explained that we have to be patient,

“but Mam will get through this – she’s stubborn enough!”

As they leave, Cadno thanks him for all his help with the boys and at Penrhewl.

Hywel and Sheryl are back, after she has been in rather an argumentative mood at the police station. “I don’t have time for a cup of tea,” she tells him, “I want to check if I’ve had a reply to my e-mail.”
“Hassling the authorities will not do any good – I miss her as much as you. I’m keeping calm for us,” says Hywel.

Jim arrives at Maes-y-Deri with his carefully drawn up quote, and, after a cursory glance at it,

Mark pronounces, “See? Like I said, we can’t afford that!” Dol is amazed, and reckons they could get a whole house in the valleys for that.

Jim is angry that he has worked on that quote all afternoon, simply for Mark to prove a point. Mark replies that it was he and Dai who gave the women these stupid ideas. Vicky predicts that Ricky will be really gutted when he hears,

and Dol berates Mark, “That was a very cruel move, Mark!”

| Diane speaks to Linda |
Diane speaks on the phone to Linda, “He doesn’t know whether he is coming or going – why don’t you send him a text?”

Dai wants to know what was her excuse, and is told that Linda is not feeling well today, but promised to text DJ.

| "Keeping secrets from him – it's not right" |
“I feel guilty that we’re keeping secrets from him – it’s not right,” maintains Dai, but Diane judges that DJ could not cope with any more bad news, with Cadno in her current state. “I’ve got my doubts whether you want to tell him at all,” he says,

and Diane insists that now is not the right time.

| "I'll go and separate the sheep" |
Eifion generously offers to go and separate the sheep, which DJ was about to do. When he asks how Cadno was, Eifion paints a gloomy picture;

“It doesn’t look promising – I don’t think she will ever be able to do physical work again. The consultant saw her this morning, but I don’t know all the details.”
DJ says he will talk to them later, when he visits, but Eifion warns him, “Don’t you dare! She is upset about it and can’t accept the situation – so it’s better that we don’t discuss it with her at the moment.”

DJ’s face falls, as he concedes that Eifion is probably right.

At Cysgod y Glyn, Hywel apologises to Sheryl, but she is not in a conciliatory mood;

“I mean it – I don’t want you near me! You let me down in the most cruel way, and I can never forgive you! I’ve had enough – from now on, I’m on my own. If I get my little girl back, she’ll be my little girl – you won’t have anything to do with her – you don’t deserve to be her father!”

As Hywel looks stunned, she orders, “Get out of my sight, Hywel!” He turns and leaves the flat.
