When Sheryl opens the salon, she finds a puddle of water on the floor and looks exasperated.

| Catrin does not seem very interested |
Britt, Colin and Aaron are preparing the party food when Catrin comes in, engrossed on her phone. Britt wishes her Happy Birthday and gives her the card from Chester;

| Chester's card only merits a cursory glance |
she takes only a cursory glance and puts it down. Colin and Aaron go off to fetch something.

| Iolo puts things to rights in a few seconds |
Iolo has changed the washer and now all is well; “I thought you had put new washers on the sinks,” says Sheryl. Iolo points out that it was his father who did it, but assures her he is capable of doing such an easy job;

| Sheryl doubts that Siôn is as capable as that |
Sheryl is not convinced.

| "He's usually so conscientious" |
Gwyneth arrives for her appointment, and when told what has happened, comments, “I can’t believe Siôn was negligent – he’s usually so conscientious.”

| "You've changed your tune!" |
Iolo remarks that she has changed her tune, and stresses that he is sure this is not his Dad’s fault; it could be a faulty washer or excessive water pressure.

| "He takes it all very seriously" |
“You know I’m not thrilled with Siôn’s new career, but he takes it all very seriously,” Gwyneth tells Iolo. Sheryl concludes that either Siôn messed up, or the washer loosened itself overnight. Gwyneth smiles.

| Rather unconventional birthday cake |
Britt ceremonially brings in Catrin’s birthday cake, decorated with three skulls to mark Hallowe’en.

| "It's OK, I suppose!" |
Catrin is unimpressed; “It’s OK, I suppose, but I’m not eight! I’m not having a party anyway – I’m going to town with my friends. We can have the food later.

| "You're not bothered about anyone except Chester!" |
“I did tell you, but it’s not my fault you never listen – you’re not bothered about anyone except Chester!”

| The samosas join all the other food |
Saeed arrives with a plate of Samosas from his mother; then he and Catrin leave to catch the bus.

| Siôn is full of apologies |
Sheryl tells Gwyneth that there was a terrible stench in the salon. Then Siôn comes in, very apologetic,

| "I'm sure I did everything by the book!" |
and assures Iolo that he did everything by the book, screwing the joint up tightly. “Such negligence could have been very costly,” laments Siôn,

| "Did you notice anything when you called in?" |
then he asks Gwyneth, “Did you notice anything when you called in yesterday, when I was finishing in the back room?”

| Iolo smells a rat |
Iolo finds this rather odd, and reminds Gwyneth, “I told you earlier yesterday that Sheryl wouldn’t be here!”

| "Oh, I must have forgotten" |
Gwyneth replies that she must have forgotten, but Iolo adds, “I know what’s going on!”

| Britt laments the quality of her parenting skills |
Britt is depressed; “First it’s Chester and now Catrin – I feel as if I don’t know them – she turned her nose up at the cake.” Colin tells her that they are impossible to please at that age, as nothing is good enough,

| "Don't take it personally!" |
and that Britt should not take it personally. “What’s the point?” Britt demands,

| "I'm not going to bother!" |
“I try and try – for nothing – I’m not going to bother,” as she flings things back into the cupboards.

| "You need a cwtch – a big one!" |
Colin reprimands her, “Stop it now! What you need is a cwtch – a big one!”

| "A sort of 'Mother of the Groom' thing" |
Iolo tells Dani, “I’m going to ask Britt to be at my side at the wedding – a sort of ‘Mother of the Groom’ thing.” Dani predicts that things may be awkward between her and Gwyneth.

| "I'm sure it was her!" |
Then Iolo ponders for a moment and announces, “I’m sure it was her – Gwyneth – who caused the sink to leak. Why would she go there looking for Sheryl after I told her that Sheryl was out? She wants to undermine Dad’s confidence.

| "She was laughing at me!" |
“You should have seen the look she gave me – she was laughing at me! She can be so sly, but I know what her game is!”

| "We don't want a feud at the wedding!" |
Dani urges him not to tell his father, as they do not want a family feud to erupt at the wedding.

| Siôn tries to make amends |
In the Deri, Siôn, in a conciliatory gesture, buys coffees for Sheryl and Gwyneth; he muses, “If it had leaked all weekend, the salon would have been flooded.” Sheryl thinks he is going a little over the top now,

| "Do you think I'll make a plumber?" |
but he asks her, “Do you think I’ll make a plumber? I’d appreciate your opinion.”

| "You might be an OK plumber – but why do it?" |
She replies, “You might be an OK plumber – but why do it?” Siôn says that he wants to work with his hands.

| "Ooh – I am clever – I've engineered this perfectly!" |
Gwyneth smirks as she considers that things are going just the way she planned.
Dani arrives at Britt’s flat and is surprised that Catrin is not there; she wants a drink, as Iolo is getting on her nerves.

| Someone else is at the door |
Just then Garry phones, wanting to speak to Catrin, but talks to Dani instead;

| "Garry – when are you coming back?" |
she immediately asks him, “When are you coming back?

| Oh dear – it looks like bad news |
“What?” and her face falls.

| "Am I really kidding myself?" |
Sheryl returns to the salon, and Siôn asks Gwyneth if he really is kidding himself that the plumbing can work out.

| "I don't want to put pressure on you" |
“You know my opinion, but I don’t want to put pressure on you,” she answers. He concludes that this change of direction was just wishful thinking, and it would not do any harm to look for translation work.

| "I'm going to ask Britt's advice" |
Iolo comes in and tells his father he is going to ask Britt’s advice about the buttonholes. Siôn announces, “I don’t think that now is the right time to join you as a plumber – it’s wiser to go back to translation.”

| "Congratulations – you know what I mean!" |
Looking at Gwyneth, Iolo remarks, “Congratulations – you know what I mean!” Siôn stresses that his decision is nothing to do with Gwyneth.

| "You're so blind, Dad!" |
“No, she’s too sly for that – you’re so blind, Dad!” says Iolo and walks out of the Deri.

| "He's not coming back – well, not for a while!" |
After that phone call, Dani is in a state of shock; “He’s not coming back – well, not for a while! They’re desperate for volunteers.”

| "What do you think of this one?" |
Iolo arrives with the buttonhole samples and asks for Britt’s advice.

| Iolo asks a favour of Britt |
Then he adds, “I want to ask you a favour – I’d like you to be my mother for the wedding day – it would mean a lot to me, and leave Dad to me!”

Britt is quite overcome by this request.

| Siôn proclaims his availability for translation |
Before leaving the Deri, Siôn makes a phone call; “This is Siôn White, I’m available again for translation work. Feel free to get in touch.”

| "I'm so proud of you!" |
Gwyneth says she is so proud of him, and that it takes a real man to admit he has made a mistake. She is not keen to accompany him to Catrin’s party, as it might cause ill-feeling, but he eventually persuades her to come with him.

| "These samosas are something else!" |
In the chip shop flat, Colin is tucking into the delicious samosas, while Britt hopes that Siôn will not mind too much that Iolo has asked her to be involved with the wedding.

| "Is Catrin not around?" |
At that moment he is coming up the stairs and asks where Catrin is, handing his present to Britt.

| "Ooh – which one's mine?" |
Gwyneth sees the boxes containing buttonholes and asks which one is to be hers;

| "You're not on Iolo's list!" |
Dani replies, “I don’t think you’re on Iolo’s list to get one.”
Siôn takes exception to this slight, which he describes as not acceptable;

“If Britt is to get that honour, the least he can do is to give you a posy!”

| "I'm going to sort this out with Iolo!" |
Picking up all the boxes, he resolves to go and see Iolo, to sort the matter out.

| "Gwyneth is part of this family!" |
Arriving at number 7, Siôn demands, “I would like you to respect the fact that Gwyneth is part of this family – she is the only one without a buttonhole, and it is not fair to disregard her!” Iolo acquiesces, as it means so much to his father,

| "There is something else you should know . . ." |
adding that there is something else he should know, but he is interrupted by an incoming call on Siôn’s phone; Siôn goes into the kitchen to answer it.

| "How do you manage to pull the wool over his eyes?" |
“I don’t know how you manage to pull the wool over his eyes – don’t deny it!” Iolo snarls at Gwyneth.

| "I'll make sure that your wedding is a fiasco!" |
She haughtily replies, “There was no point arguing about the apprenticeship – I had to pretend to go along with it and bide my time. It didn’t take long to undo that washer! If you breathe a word of this to your Dad, I’ll make sure that your wedding is a fiasco! You know I’m not bluffing!”

Siôn returns, triumphantly announcing, “I hope you had nothing planned – I’ll be slogging over translation this weekend, and it’s good money too!”
