Colin runs up the stairs to the chip shop flat with yet another bag of his belongings, and some flowers for Britt. Chester complains about the boxes everywhere,

At the garage, Gethin tells Garry that the alternator they are expecting will be there in half an hour, and then he will fit it. “Are you not helping Colin?” Gethin asks, mischievously,

“He’s moving in with Britt today!” Garry laughs at the suggestion, but when informed that Colin was seen lugging boxes about this morning, he rushes out,

| "I didn't realise you had the day off" |
Anita, who is doing the vacuuming, did not realise that Kelly had the day off today, and suggests, “Shall we do something nice together? Some shopping?

“We haven’t had a girlie day for months.” Kelly replies that she would rather ‘chill’ today and puts on her coat.
“It’s such bad news, isn’t it?” says Anita suddenly, and Kelly thinks her secret is out, but Anita continues,

| "The primary school closing" |
“The primary school closing, and that new school replacing it – that would make a good story for the Western Post.” Kelly leaves the house.

“I can’t believe all this stuff you’ve got!” exclaims Britt, and Colin tells her that every item has a story. She grabs his rubber chicken, and he chases after her to retrieve it;

| Garry looks somewhat unamused |
at that moment a stern-faced Garry appears.
“What is going on here?” he demands,

| "I've just moved in!" |
and Colin explains he has just moved in. Garry goes on, “And nobody thought to tell me about it, despite the fact that I’m the landlord?

“I have a right to know when he moves from one of my houses to another!”

| "Well, you know now, Garry!" |
Britt tells him, “Well, you know now – don’t throw your weight around! Colin’s moving in and that’s an end to it. This is my home, and you should be glad your sister’s found a bloke who makes her happy. You should be helping him move the boxes!”

“If you’re sure that’s what you want,” says Garry, and when she has gone downstairs to open the shop, he informs Colin, “I shall expect rent – the same as before. Aren’t you going to offer me a cup of tea?”

Colin goes to the fridge, but regrets that there is no milk.

Anita tells Ffion in the chip shop, “I’m angry that the primary school is closing – it’s even been on the radio – it’s not right, is it?” She and Britt reminisce about the old school.

“Chester liked it there,” comments Britt, and then adds, “Of course he will be a lot better off after the court case next week – he’ll only get a slap on the wrist, of course.” Ffion and Anita look at each other sceptically.

“You think he’ll be sent to a Detention Centre, don’t you?” demands Britt, her voice growing in volume, “He’s only a boy and has had a hard life! How would you feel if it were one of your children?”

Gethin has found an oil leak, which he will repair,

| "Then I'm meeting Daniel off the bus" |
but he wants to leave early, to meet Daniel off the bus at 3:45pm, and Garry agrees to this, then acquaints Gethin with what he has learned in the course of his enquiries about Craig and his gang.

“They’re back in Britain – that doesn’t mean anything, but you should be on your guard – vigilant.

“Keep an eye out, and make sure you know where Ffion and the children are, just in case.”

Gethin requests that he does not say anything about this to Ffion.

Ffion finds Kelly in the café and asks a favour; “I’m the new secretary of the rugby club, and we’re producing fleeces and T-shirts with the club logo – I thought you could write a feature on it.”

“It would be a nice, positive story, now that the primary school is closing,” continues Ffion.

Anita, standing by the counter, is shocked by this outburst,

| "Everyone thinks he should be locked up!" |
When Britt returns to the flat, she is furious at what people are saying about Chester; “This village gets on my nerves,” she tells Colin, “Everyone thinks he should be locked up next week – they have no faith!”

| "Well, there is a 50/50 chance" |
Colin points out that they do not mean any harm, and according to websites it is 50/50; it is possible he may be all right, but then there is a chance he could end up in a Young Offenders’ Institution.

Britt snarls, “You read that on the internet? That’s full of lies, you know! You should know better than to believe what you read on there!”
Colin explains that he does not want it to come as a shock to her if it happens,

but she insists, “I won’t have a shock, because it’s not going to happen!”

| Kelly is outraged |
Kelly complains, “I thought they were going to tell me that my job was safe, not make me redundant! After winning Journalist of the Year! I know my desk is messy, and I don’t wash my cup – but I did think I was good!

Britt is in the shower when Garry calls,

and Colin advises him, “I’m worried about Britt – she has high expectations about this court case, and really believes he won’t be sent down.”

Garry confirms that he knows Chester is likely to get a spell at a Young Offenders’ Institution, but Britt does not need to know about it. “She’ll have to face it before long, but there’s no need to lie to her –

Gethin tells Ffion that Daniel would rather go to the cinema with his mates; “It’s not cool to spend Friday with his Dad!”

Ffion admits, “My head is spinning, thinking about the new community school! Do you think I have a chance of becoming the head? I have a lot of baggage.” Gethin assures her that is all in the past, and she must look to the future now.

and he looks very concerned.

Catrin has enjoyed her dinner, which they ate sitting round the television. “We’ll have a proper celebration next week, after Chester’s court case!” enthuses Britt,

while Chester sits, without a word. She continues, “Curry from Cwm Delhi, poppadoms, naan bread – the lot!” Then she gets Catrin and Aaron to help with the washing up.

Chester tells Colin, “She’s nuts! I can’t talk sensibly about the court case, because she’s in denial!”
Colin answers, “I don’t want to interfere, but I’m here if you want to talk.”

Chester begs him to look after his Mam if he has to go to prison. He is well aware that he may not be coming home, as he knows how it works. Colin confirms, “I’ll take care of her – don’t worry!”

Kelly toys with her meal, telling Anita that she is not hungry.

Anita replies, “This is not the end, you know. You’ve got talent and a voice strong enough to speak for us all. The Western Post may not appreciate you, but this village certainly does. This is your chance to start again, to use your voice to do something worthwhile. I know what will cheer you up!”

She gets out the album containing Kelly’s photos and articles,

and they sit down to peruse it.

In Colin’s arms, Britt confides, “It feels right, you being here. Garry will get used to it – you’re not worried about him, are you? After the court case, we can be a normal family again.”

Colin tells her, “I want us to be able to talk about anything, to be totally honest with each other.” However, this is interrupted by the arrival of Garry, complete with a bottle to celebrate Colin’s arrival.

He sits between them on the sofa, and announces, “Colin and I understand each other, don’t we?” Britt goes to open the bottle, and Colin to fetch some glasses,
