10 October 2016

"I didn't half get a mouthful!"
Dai has arrived at he garage to collect his car, but it is blocked in by a van;  “When I asked him to move, I got a mouthful from him and his cronies!” Dai complains, “I have no idea who they are, but if they don’t move when I ask again, I shall blow my top!”
A gang makes Gethin think
Gethin is troubled;  “If they were locals, Dai would know them!”   Garry has enough on his mind with the court case tomorrow.
A fleeting visit from Ffion
Ffion calls in to remind Gethin that Arwen is going to help her prepare dinner tonight.
"The yobs have moved"
Then Dai returns with the welcome news that the yobs have moved, and he collects the car keys.
"I spent the night at Morriston"
At Llwyncelyn, Sam returns, having spent the night in Morriston with a friend, sharing reminiscences and a few whiskies;
It is not revealed what is in the sack
he has a small sack in his hand.
"Right, I'm late for school"
Gaynor hurries off, as she is late for school.
"Gloria want me to go to Greece!"
Garry tells Britt that Gloria has phoned from Newcastle, to wish Chester well, and to ask Garry if he would like to go to Greece to help with the refugees there, as Neil is unable to go after his stroke.
"You – doing voluntary work?"
Britt is incredulous;  “You – doing voluntary work?”
“Chester has gone to school to keep his mind off things,” says Garry, “And probably wants to see his mates – just in case.
"The case could go either way"
The case could go either way, you know – it’s important to prepare for the worst.”   Britt replies she is trying to keep positive,
"No, Chester's coming home tomorrow!"
and insists that Chester will be coming home tomorrow, in spite of Garry’s warnings to the contrary.
"It's like a hangover without the good time the night before!"
At number 10, Kelly protests that all she has done this morning is to drink tea;  “It’s like a hangover without the good time the night before!” she moans.
"Something will turn up"
Anita assures her that something will turn up and asks if she wants to look at the job adverts in the paper.
"Not in that paper!"
“Not in that paper!” is the reply, “I appreciate your help, but I really don’t need it.
"What would help is if you stopped interfering!"
What would help is if you stopped interfering!”   She grabs her coat and leaves the house.
"Sorry, Debbie, I forgot my money"
Britt forgets to bring any money with her to the café, as she has so much on her mind;
"No, the machine's packed up!"
Kelly comes in for a coffee, but Debbie regrets that the machine has packed up, so Kelly offers to have a look at it.
Kelly will take a look at it
Debbie asks her to keep an eye on the place for a few minutes.
Sam must be feeling warm
Capten Sam is sitting on the sofa in T-shirt and shorts when Gaynor comes home to collect her phone;
Gaynor can see a large bill coming
“Have you turned up the heating?” she asks, “Turn it down, for the sake of the environment and my bank account.”
"Just checking you're OK, Ffion"
At the garage, Gethin leaves a message for Ffion;  “Just checking that you’re OK – give me a call.”   When Garry comes in,
"You haven't seen my spare house key, have you?"
Gethin asks if he has seen his spare house key on a blue keyring, which he keeps in the filing cabinet.
"Forget the key – get on with that gearbox!"
“Forget the key – get on with that gearbox!” Garry replies.   Gethin asks if he does not think it strange that, now Craig’s men are back in the country, that a gang no-one knows turns up in Cwmderi and his key goes missing.   He suspects they have come looking for him.
"You're being paranoid!"
“You’re being paranoid!” shouts Garry, and when Gethin is about to go and check on Ffion, he adds, “You’re not going anywhere until you’ve finished that gearbox!   It’s about time you grew a backbone!”
Ffion confirms all is well
Ffion returns Gethin’s call, and confirms that everything is OK.
"Gearbox!"
“You see – there is no problem!   Gearbox!” orders Garry.
"What have I done to deserve that?"
Later, when Gethin gets home, he gives Ffion an unexpected kiss.
"Did you open the bedroom window?"
A few moments later he asks, “Did you open the bedroom window?”   She apologises for leaving it open;  “We pay a fortune for heating, and you leave the window open,” he scolds, then enquires, “Have you seen my spare key – the one I usually keep at the garage?”
He suddenly decides that they should go out tonight, and take Arwen to see ‘Frozen’.
"Not on a school night!"
Ffion objects as it is a school night, and Arwen is supposed to be helping her cook the meal.   He argues that it would be a change to go and enjoy themselves as a family.
"Is something bothering you?"
“Is something bothering you?   You seem to be on tenterhooks,” says Ffion, “All right then, we’ll go.”
Llwyncelyn is positively sweltering
When Gaynor returns from school, it is even warmer in Llwyncelyn;
"I told you to turn it down!"
“I told you to turn it down,” she admonishes.
"You won't be out of pocket!"
“Don’t worry – you won’t be out of pocket!” Sam assures her, “There is a way to enjoy central heating without having to pay through the nose for it!”
“Please don’t say you’ve been fiddling with the meter,” replies Gaynor, and,
"It's illegal – change it back, please!"
looking in the meter box by the front door, continues, “It’s illegal – change it back, please!”   Sam does not think that he can, as he knows how to fiddle them, but not how to fiddle them back.   He tells Gaynor he thought she would be pleased.   “Do I look pleased?” she demands.
She phones Dai for assistance;
"Right – I won't delve any further!"
he is in the café, and finds her predicament rather amusing, promising to call there later, to see what he can do.
"Thanks for fixing it!"
Kelly has managed to get the coffee machine functioning again, and offers Dai an experimental cup of coffee;  “You’re my guineapig – I’ve put an extra shot in it!”
Dai describes himself as more of an ‘instant’ sort of man,
"Blimey!   It's got a kick like a donkey!"
but after one sip exclaims, “Blimey!   It’s got a kick like a donkey!”
"I need a new lock before it gets dark!"
Gethin comes in to see Dai, insisting that he needs a new lock on the house door before it gets dark;  after various excuses, Dai replies that he will see what he can do.
Debbie needs more help
Debbie suggests to Kelly that she could help on a more regular basis, as Gwen and Courtney can only work sometimes.
"You ran the place with Jinx"
“It might not be the job you wanted, but you’re good with customers – and you ran the place with Jinx.   We could help each other out here – let’s have a week’s trial to see how things go.”
"On one condition!"
Kelly agrees, on one condition;  “If I can redesign that awful menu!”
"At least he'll look smart tomorrow"
Britt has ironed a white shirt for Chester;  “At least he’ll look smart tomorrow,” she tells Garry.   He tells her that he will not be going to Greece, as he is needed here to support her.
"They wouldn't send a 15-year-old there"
“You think he’s going to prison, don’t you?   They wouldn’t send a 15-year-old there,” says Britt.
"How would you cope if they did?"
Garry asks how she would cope if they did, and wants to talk to Chester about what to expect, but is forbidden by Britt.   “I don’t want you putting ideas into his head.
"I'm his mother, and I'll look after him!"
I’m his mother, and I look after him,” she insists.
"You're too much of a coward!"
“By letting him believe everything is going to be all right?” demands Garry, “You’re too much of a coward to face reality!”
"No more, Garry – get out!"
Britt does not want to hear any more and orders him out of the flat.
"I can't unfiddle it!"
Dai takes a look at Sam’s handiwork with the meter, and remarks, “You’ve done such a good job of fiddling it that I can’t unfiddle it!”
"There must be something you can do!"
When Sam pleads that there must be something he can do, Dai agrees;  “Yes, phone your supplier!   I know a bloke in Tremyrddin, but he’s not cheap!”
Money changes hands to facilitate the process
Gaynor immediately instructs him to phone this contact, handing over a couple of notes to speed the process, and Dai leaves.
"I've reached the end of my tether!"
Gaynor announces, “I’ve reached the end of my tether!   I think it’s time you found somewhere else to live!   This was never meant to be long-term – you should move on now!”
"Just one more chance, Gaynor"
Sam urges her not to be hasty and begs for one more chance, but Gaynor is unmoved by his entreaties.
"Trouble follows you like a shadow!"
“Trouble follows you like a shadow, and I’ve got too much on my plate at the moment!   I should have been at a governors’ meeting half an hour ago.   The prospective head of the new school can’t share a house with someone who breaks the law!”
"I want your bags packed!"
She issues an ultimatum;  “I want your bags packed by the time I get home!”
"Sorry, Auntie Anita"
At dinnertime, Kelly returns home with a bottle of wine as a peace offering for Anita, and relates that she has a job, but when she reveals that it is at the café, Anita is rather scathing.   “You deserve a proper job, something which suits a professional journalist, not sweating in a café.
"Oh, that's what you think, is it?"
What about your career?”
"We'd better not go, then"
Gethin tells Ffion that Dai is coming round to fix the lock, which he says is sticking, and Ffion concludes that they had better not go out then.   Gethin insists, as he has already bought the tickets.   “Is it Arwen or you that wants to see the film?” Ffion asks.
Oh – look what Gethin has discovered in his pocket!
He puts his hand into his coat pocket, and finds – the missing key.
"It's important to have you around"
Britt comes into the Deri and apologises to Garry for her earlier outburst;  “I’m glad you decided to stay home,” she tells Garry, “It’s important to have you around.
"Chester will need you when he comes home"
Chester will need you when he comes home – his family needs to be there, and that includes you.
"We'll spend quality time together"
We’re going to spend some quality time together, once tomorrow is behind us.”
"You really believe that, don't you?"
Garry realises that she really believes that;  she says, “I know what it’s like in prison – I’ve been there –
"I have to believe it!"
I have to believe it!”
