| "You shouldn't have bothered, Sioned" |
Sioned makes porridge for Ed; “Sit down and eat it – I’ll have something at work later.
![]() |
| "Will you be all right on your own?" |
Will you be all right on your own? I can come back and check on you.”
He insists that he will be all right, but admits he did not sleep last night; “It’s not fair on you,” he tells her,
![]() |
| "I'm going to get professional help today" |
“I’m going to get some help today.” She asks what he means, as she is helping him. “I need professional help – I must talk to a doctor about the way I lose control. You’re great, but it’s not fair to expect you to sort me out.”
![]() |
| "No-one else needs to know our business" |
This does not please Sioned; “Do you really want to tell a doctor? Let me help you – I’m your wife, and no-one else needs to know our business. I’m going to work – you stay here, and phone if you want anything.”
![]() |
| "I want to see a doctor, please" |
As soon as she is out of the door, he phones for a doctor’s appointment.

| Kelly is ready for her important meeting |
In the café, Kelly is smartly dressed for a meeting.
![]() |
| "That's a silly time for a meeting!" |
Dai comes in and asks Debbie to put up a notice about the rugby club committee meeting this evening at 5:00pm, requesting that they tell any men about it.
![]() |
| "Aren't women allowed to follow rugby?" |
Kelly pipes up, “Aren’t women allowed to follow rugby, or what?” Dai tells her to drop this suffragette nonsense, as he has no time for it.
Kelly realises it is time she went, and leaves her uneaten sandwich; Dai eyes it enviously, and enquires if anyone is going to eat it.

| "I hate to see anything go to waste" |
Then he quickly grabs it; “I hate to see anything go to waste,” he says.

| The driving lesson is about to begin |
Courtney’s car, driven by Jim, arrives in a quiet country lane; before Courtney can take the wheel, he insists they must have a chat,
![]() |
| "I have had lessons before, Dad!" |
but she reminds him she has had driving lessons before.
![]() |
| "A car is a dangerous weapon" |
“You can’t just jump in you know – it’s not just a car,” Jim tells her, and she replies that it is her car, and she can do what she likes with it.
He continues, “A car is a dangerous weapon – I want to do it by the book. This thing here is a gearstick.”
![]() |
| "Yes, I know what a gearstick is!" |
Courtney is quite aware of what it is, pointing out she has had lessons before, and the pair of them get out to change places; “No more than 10mph,” Jim stipulates.
![]() |
| "Ed, where are you?" |
Sioned returns to check on Ed, but finds that he is missing, and a note on the pad lying on the table,
![]() |
| She finds the evidence |
reading, “Dr Roberts, 12:45pm.” She looks angry.
![]() |
| "Have you remembered the committee meeting?" |
Ffion goes to see Siôn about the rugby club meeting,
![]() |
| "I shall be giving up as secretary" |
and he informs her that he is resigning from the secretary’s position. “I’d be happy to do it,” volunteers Ffion, “Would you support me?
![]() |
| "It would look good on my CV!" |
“I think I could do a good job – and it would look good on my CV!” Siôn thinks this is a great idea.
![]() |
| "Watch that ditch, Courtney! Whoa!" |
As Courtney reverses the car, Jim panics, “Watch that ditch – whoa!”
![]() |
| "I was nowhere near the ditch!" |
She protests that she is nowhere near the ditch, and accuses him of scaring her and undermining her confidence.
“You don’t realise that I’m growing up! I’m going home – on the bus!
![]() |
| Courtney's outburst surprises Jim |
“You can drive the car home, as you’re such an expert! Put the keys through the door.”
![]() |
| Courtney marches off |
She furiously gets out and walks across the road.
![]() |
| Sioned has tracked down Ed |
Sioned marches into the surgery, where Ed is waiting; “You’re coming home with me right now! I’ve said I’ll help you, but you won’t let me.”
![]() |
| "It's not fair on you, Sioned" |
He argues that it is not fair for her to take responsibility for him, but she goes on,
![]() |
| "How do you think I feel?" |
How do you think it makes me feel? You’d rather talk to a stranger than your wife. You were going in there to talk about us, weren’t you? That’s not fair – I haven’t done anything wrong, have I!”
![]() |
| He sits, impassionately |
Ed looks sheepish, as usual.
![]() |
| Kelly, not looking where she is going |
Kelly, preoccupied with looking at her phone, almost trips over Debbie, who is writing on the café sign.
![]() |
| "How did you meeting go?" |
Debbie asks how the meeting went;
![]() |
| "Great! Brill! Best ever!" |
Kelly shouts, as she opens the door of number 10, “Great! Brill! The best ever!” and slams the door.
![]() |
| "You don't realise what you're doing" |
Ed has not yet succumbed to Sioned’s verbal barrage, so she continues, “You don’t realise what you’re doing, do you? You lied to me about coming here, and didn’t listen when I told you not to!”
![]() |
| "I'm doing this for us, Sioned" |
He answers that he is doing this for them, but she is undeterred; “You don’t understand – the doctor will ask you personal questions –
![]() |
| "You'll talk about me" |
“and you’ll talk about me! We’ve been through so much, Ed, someone on the outside wouldn’t understand. Aren’t you afraid of sitting there, discussing your temper – telling them you can’t control it? I couldn’t do it – I’d be afraid of saying too much – they’re good at gleaning information from people,
![]() |
| "And once you reveal a secret . . ." |
“and once you reveal a secret, you can’t take it back!”
Ed’s name is called, and to Sioned’s horror, he stands and walks towards the doctor,
![]() |
| "Sorry, cancel the appointment" |
but then says, “Sorry, cancel the appointment – I don’t need it!”
![]() |
| Jim's peace offering |
Buses do not appear to be very frequent, and Jim offers Courtney a sweet as an apology. He says he is scared something will happen to her,
![]() |
| "I'm not a little girl any more!" |
but Courtney insists she is not a little girl any more,
![]() |
| She gets back into the car |
and gets back into the car. “I don’t think we’ll have another lesson,” she concludes,
![]() |
| "I'll find someone else to teach me" |
“I’ll find someone else to teach me!” and he rather rashly remarks that she is as stubborn as her mother.
![]() |
| "I'm nothing like her!" |
This does not go down well; “I’m nothing like her! You don’t like me growing up, and you losing your hold over me!
![]() |
| "Don't come near me again!" |
“Take my car home, and don’t come near me or my car again!” She stalks off down the road.
![]() |
| The meeting is in session |
The committee meeting convenes in the Deri; Dai says it is ridiculous that so few are attending. Eifion refers to 5:00pm as a stupid time to hold the meeting, as people will be at work.
![]() |
| "I've decided to step down" |
Siôn announces, “The fact is, Dai, I’ve decided to step down as secretary.”
![]() |
| "It's like being captain of the Titanic!" |
Dai regards himself as the ‘Captain of the Titanic’, and asks who will possibly replace Siôn. Jason suggests Eifion, but Dai dismisses him; “He can hardly hold a pen, let alone write with one!”
Siôn floats the idea, “What about Ffion? She’s a teacher!” Dai is dead against this, but is outnumbered by the rest. Ffion gives the impression of being reluctant,
![]() |
| "Yes, all right, why not?" |
but in the end agrees.
Dai insists that it has to be voted upon;
![]() |
| "Welcome to the committee, Ffion" |
Jason tells him, “Don’t be so soft,” turns to shake Ffion’s hand and says, “Welcome to the committee!” Dai is seriously put out by this development.
Debbie goes across the road to check on Kelly; after insisting that everything is fine,
![]() |
| Kelly reveals the truth |
Kelly eventually admits, “I’ve lost my job! We had a staff review – and I’m redundant!” She laughs at her recent award;
![]() |
| "Journalist of the Year – pah!" |
“Western Post Journalist of the Year! I thought I was doing well – but please keep quiet about it, as I don’t want Auntie Anita to know – I can’t deal with her as well.
![]() |
| Debbie is sworn to secrecy |
“She’s been bragging to everyone about her amazing journalist niece –
![]() |
| "Who isn't a journalist any more" |
“who isn’t a journalist any more.”
![]() |
| "Is there time for a pint?" |
Sioned tells Ed that dinner is nearly ready, and he asks if there is time to go for a pint; there is a rugby club meeting, and he could catch the end of it.
![]() |
| "I know what's best for you" |
Sioned informs him, “I’ve already told you I’m making dinner, and I don’t think it’s a good idea, not with things as they are. I know what’s best for you – you should stay here for now – go and sit down!” so he obediently does so.
Dai brings up the subject of the changing rooms, and Eifion says he has seen more comfortable barns.
![]() |
| "Nowhere near enough money!" |
Jason reveals there is nowhere near enough money in the accounts, so they will need to fundraise.
![]() |
| Ffion comes up with an idea . . . |
Amongst other ideas, Ffion comes up with selling merchandise with the club’s logo.
![]() |
| . . . which Siôn enthusiastically supports |
Siôn considers this could be a money-spinner in the approach to Christmas.
![]() |
| "What's wrong with the old ones?" |
Dai looks at his fleece and asks what is wrong with it; “It’s old and a bit shabby!” replies Ffion.
![]() |
| "Awyr Iach could produce them" |
Jason says Awyr Iach could produce them, so Ffion will liaise with him on the design.
![]() |
| Dai does not share Ffion's enthusiasm |
Dai is very keen to wind up the meeting.
![]() |
| "Oh, what a day I've had, Kelly!" |
Anita is home at number 10, complaining about the day she has had;
![]() |
| Kelly is in her pyjamas already |
“It’s not like you to be in pyjamas so early,” she tells Kelly. Then she remarks upon Kelly’s latest Western Post article; “This feature is great – I don’t know where you get your ideas from!”
![]() |
| Kelly does not think much of this 'great feature' now |
As Anita goes upstairs for a bath, Kelly flings the paper away.
![]() |
| "You know I love you, don't you?" |
During the night, Sioned finds Ed apparently asleep on the sofa; “Come back to bed,” she says, “You know I love you, don’t you? I have your best interests at heart.
![]() |
| "Don't dismiss my advice again! |
“Don’t dismiss my advice again – I know what’s best!”
![]() |
| Ed heard every threatening word |
Receiving no response, she returns to bed, but Ed’s eyes immediately open.
