30 September 2016

The fugitive
Ed creeps out of his hidingplace, and approaches the inert Gwyneth;  at the other end of the alley,
Mark is enjoying life
Mark can be heard, saying to Debbie, “Of course I haven’t been drinking in my condition – I was dancing because I’m alive and enjoying life!”   Ed scurries back to his refuge.   “This is like sneaking around behind the bike sheds again,” comments Mark, “Come home with me tonight!”
"Will you look after Nicky for me?"
Vicky then joins Mark and Debbie to ask if they will look after Nicky, as she is having such a good time there, and does not want to go home yet.
A shadowy figure peers out
As Mark and Debbie head for Maes-y-Deri, Ed again peers cautiously along the back street.
"Mel has shopped Tom – her boyfriend!"
Tyler is unpacking a takeaway from Cwm Delhi, as Iolo tells him, “The police just phoned – Mel has shopped Tom, her boyfriend!   Yes, she’s not gay!   How could she?”
"That says everything about her!"
Tyler replies that it shows she cannot be trusted, and he would like to tell her exactly what he thinks of her now.
"I can't believe I fell for that!"
“Me too!” growls Iolo, “I can’t believe I fell for her lies – I feel so naïve.   In a way I’m glad – it will help me to move on.   I’m sorry – you were right all along!”
"I'm glad to see you smiling again"
They tuck into their curry, and Tyler remarks, “I’m glad to see you smiling again.   I thought there was no future for us.”
Dol, in front of the box
Dol is watching TV when Ricky comes in, having been researching his next essay at Carwyn’s.
"She enjoys herself too much!"
“You’ve got your Gran’s brains,” boasts Dol, “My report said ‘an abundance of talent, but enjoys herself too much’!”   They are expecting Vicky,
"Sam is giving away free beer"
so are surprised when Mark and Debbie arrive.   When they reveal that Sam is giving away free beer,
"What am I waiting for?"
Dol immediately asks, “What am I waiting for?” and rushes upstairs to change.
"Dad needed someone to escort him home, did he?"
Ricky enquires, “Dad needed someone to escort him home, did he?”   Debbie tells him that she has come to babysit, as Mark needs an early night – he has work tomorrow.   “Right – if you say so,” says Ricky as he goes up to his study.   Mark is pleased that they now have some peace.
The rings are replaced
Iolo and Tyler put on their rings again;
"Why don't we go and tell Dad?"
“Why don’t we go over and tell Dad?” proposes Iolo, “He’ll be glad to see us – it’s thanks to him that I went to court.   I have to support him now he is trying to get on with his life.”
"Reserve some for Gran!"
Dol phones Vicky to make sure there is some beer left for her, and leaves the house, but a few seconds later Ricky comes down.
"Not disturbing you, am I?"
“Not disturbing you, am I?   I’m fed up with being in that attic on my own,” he says, “I like company – you don’t mind, do you?   Or would you like to be alone?”
"We don't spend much time together"
Mark replies that they do not spend much time together, the three of them.
Siôn congratulates Iolo and Tyler
Siôn is glad to hear the news from Iolo and Tyler;  “Thanks for your support, Iolo – I’ve let you both down,” he says.
"We can look forward to the wedding now"
Tyler answers that he gave Iolo good advice about going to court, and they can look forward to the wedding now.
"We're trying to rekindle the flame"
“Gwyneth and I are trying to rekindle the flame as well,” Siôn announces, “It speaks volumes that she still wants me after the way I behaved.”   Iolo expresses serious reservations about Gwyneth, asking if his father can trust her, and pointing out that she can be very dangerous.
"You can speak to Gwyneth"
Siôn is adamant that he wants no more secrets, and says that Iolo should tell her what he has said;  he phones her mobile.
Here comes the reclusive figure again
Ed emerges once more, furtively looking around;
"Gwyneth, can you hear me?"
when he reaches her motionless body, he pleads, “Gwyneth, can you hear me?   Say something!”   Her phone rings and he picks it up;
An incoming phone call scares him off
when he sees it is Siôn calling, he puts it down again and flees once more.
"It's pretty loud – with Chester and his mates!"
Tyler suggests that if Gwyneth is in the street, she will not be able to hear her phone;  “Chester and his mates took over the festival, and he was doing the DJing.”
"Perhaps she's setting fire to something!"
Iolo envisages another scenario;  “Or perhaps she is setting fire to something!   She threatened to set my van on fire if I didn’t tell her where you were staying in Tylorstown!”
"I know she has a temper"
Siôn admits that she has a temper, but also a soft side, and she really cares about him.
He seems to have done some thinking in there
The next time Ed shows his face, he appears to have a plan.
"Garry's not happy about all this free booze!"
Vicky and Dol are at the end of the alley, where Vicky says, “Garry is not happy there’s so much free booze about.”   Meanwhile, Ed has run down to the Bethania end of the High Street,
"Good evening, ladies"
then strolls past Vicky and Dol into the alley, where he supposedly makes a discovery.
"Someone has collapsed over here!"
“Vicky, come quickly!” he shouts, “Someone has collapsed over here!”   Dol discovers that it is Gwyneth.
Vicky is absolutely horrified
Ed urges them to call an ambulance.
She soon comes round, and is obstinate
Soon Gwyneth, having regained consciousness, is sitting on the steps of the ambulance,
"No, I'm not going to A&E!"
refusing to be taken to A&E;  “Too many bevvies, is it?” enquires Dol, but Gwyneth asks Ed to take her to Y Felin.   Vicky suspects that Gwyneth was attacked, and wants to go home.
"I'll come with you – and this beer!"
“I’ll come with you, and I’m taking this beer!” says Dol.
Ricky's update on the current position
Ricky sends a text to Vicky, “They’re still not admitting anything!” then goes to sit between his parents.
"I don't want to feel like a gooseberry!"
“If you want to be alone, just say so!” he tells them, “I don’t want to feel like a gooseberry.”
Debbie replies, “Your father and me?   Don’t be soft!   As if!”
"There's been an incident"
Then Vicky and Dol return, rather subdued after the incident in the village.
"Put the kettle on, Mark!"
“Put the kettle on, Mark– we’ve had a bit of an experience!” says Dol.
Gwyneth tells of her ordeal
Ed brings Gwyneth into Y Felin;  she explains, “I went the back way, as the High Street was very busy, and someone pushed me to the ground.   It was deliberate and powerful.”   Siôn goes to run her a bath,
"It's easy to fall over there"
and Ed points out that it is easy to fall over there, with recycling bags and the light being inadequate,
"No, I was pushed!"
but she insists, “No, I was pushed!”
"Probably been guzzling Sam's beer"
Dol presumes, “She has probably been guzzling Sam’s beer – free beer can be very dangerous,
"This is strong stuff!"
and this is strong stuff,” as she takes yet another swig.   Debbie is glad they came home to avoid any risks.
"Maybe you should stay here"
Mark tells her, “I don’t want you walking back to the café on your own, or spending the night alone in that flat.   Maybe you should stay here – you’ll be safe.”   Vicky and Ricky exchange glances.   Debbie accepts Mark's kind offer.
"What coward would attack me?"
When Gwyneth returns from her bath, Siôn bemoans the lack of a sofa for her.   “I was reading a text – that’s why I didn’t see who it was,” says Gwyneth, “What coward would attack me?”   Siôn insists that no-one is out to get her, but she is not so sure.
"Plenty of people hate me!"
“Britt?   Chester?   Plenty of people hate me!” she ponders.
"We can't sleep together with everyone here"
In the kitchen, Debbie tells Mark, “I hope you have a sleeping bag!   We can’t sleep together with everyone here.   We promised to keep it quiet – you’ll have to wait, Casanova!”
"Why not tell them the truth?"
Mark suggests that they could tell the truth;  “Ricky will be delighted that his Dad and Mam are back together.   Are you afraid to admit it to him – or to yourself?   We won’t make the same mistakes this time.”
"Yeah, all right, go on then!"
Debbie eventually comes around to his way of thinking, and they make the announcement.
"We have something to tell you"
“We have something to tell you . . . the thing is, we still like each other, and we’ve decided . . .”
“You’re back together!” shouts Ricky,
"You've been acting like teenagers"
and Vicky refers to them acting like teenagers and kissing at the festival.
"You must think we're thick!"
“You must think we’re thick, not to notice!   It will be fun!” Ricky adds.
Dol has her say;  “Just remember, I’m first lady in this house!”
"Dad would be better off without her!"
Iolo considers that Gwyneth is making up this attack to get sympathy, although Tyler does not agree;  “She’s got history – Dad would be better off without her!” Iolo insists.
"Do you want me to ask around?"
Ed, who for some reason is still there, asks if he should make enquiries in the village to see if anyone has information,
"I think this is a matter for the police"
but Siôn thinks this is a matter for the police.   “There is no evidence that anyone hit you,” Ed points out, but Gwyneth’s mind is made up;  she does not trust the villagers and makes a phone call.
"I want to report an attack!"
“I want to report an attack in Cwmderi!” she says, as Ed looks very worried.
