Kelly's bag harbours the snake
The snake is seen, hiding in Kelly’s bag, as Sam crawls around the floor, searching.   When Anita comes in, remarking that he looks like a snake, down there on the floor, he says he has lost his watch, which Anita immediately finds.
"I heard about your crazy ingredient!"
Kelly dashes downstairs, loudly complaining about her alarm clock;  “I’m late!   I heard about your crazy ingredient – mice in the freezer!”   As she grabs her bag, she adds, “Don’t turn Anita into a weirdo like you!”
Sam is still looking for any trace
and hurries off.
As Siôn enjoys his breakfast in the café, Iolo warns him to make the most of it;  “Gwyneth won’t let you do that every day!”
"Back to muesli tomorrow"
Siôn regrets that he will be back to muesli tomorrow.   Kelly rushes in, full of apologies for her lateness, and puts down her bag on the counter.
"You're over half an hour late!"
“You’re over half an hour late!   Don’t just stand there – clear that table!” orders Debbie.
Checking out the environment
As Kelly does so, the snake surveys its new surroundings.
Sam searches the street
Sam is looking behind bins in the back street;  Colin asks if he has lost something, and just as Sam confesses that he has, there are several screams from the direction of the café.   They run to find out what is happening.
"It's going over that way!"
The snake is on its way across the counter, with Debbie and Kelly standing on a seat, pointing, panic-stricken at the creature.
Colin is not much use either
When Colin realises that there really is a snake, he too climbs on to a chair, and is anxious when his father goes behind the counter to retrieve the missing creature.
"Everything is all right now!"
“Everything is all right now,” he reassures them, “A bloke from Tonga taught me to handle snakes years ago.”
They do not look particularly reassured
Debbie is now regretting employing Kelly, as she brought the snake into the café, but Sam tells them, “Don’t argue, girls – the snake’s name is Katrina – she’s mine!”
"How are you, Chester?"
In the visiting room of the Detention Centre, the prisoners troop in, with Chester at the end;  Britt asks how he is.   “How do you think I am?” he snarls in reply.
"I couldn't help you escape!"
Britt tells him, “I know you’re angry with me, but I couldn’t help you escape and make matters worse.   As your mother, I have to do what’s best for you.   Let’s not argue – I only have half an hour.   It’s Catrin’s birthday tomorrow.”
"If it hadn't been her birthday, I wouldn't have turned up at all!"
“I know, I’ve made a card for her,” he says, “If it hadn’t been her birthday, I wouldn’t have turned up here at all!”
"The salon is closed today"
Gwyneth goes to the salon;  Iolo asks if she had a good holiday, and informs her that the salon is closed today.
Gwyneth meets the plumber's mate
Then Siôn appears with a wrench in his hand, and tells her that he has had to help Iolo.
“Will you be long?” Gwyneth asks, “I’m sure Iolo can finish the job on his own.”   Siôn points out that if he could, he would not have asked for help.
"Taking advantage!"  (You're a fine one to talk!)
“He’s taking advantage – getting a labourer on the cheap!” she protests.
"This is my job now!"
Siôn begs to differ;  “Not at all – this is my job now, no more translating!   I think it offers us stability, and once I qualify, the money will be greater.”
"You're making a big mistake!"
“You’re making a big mistake, being irresponsible!” she rants, You’ve got a good career and I can’t believe you’re throwing it away!
"You have responsibilities!"
You have responsibilities towards me , and Gwern!”
"Are you on a break or something?"
Iolo appears and demands, “Are you on a break or something?”   Gwyneth stomps out of the salon.
Sam tries to take the credit
Back at number 10, Sam tells Kelly that if he had not owned up, Debbie would have sacked her.
"Don't make out you're some kind of hero!"
“Don’t make out you’re some kind of hero!” she squeals, “She threatened to sack me because of your stupid snake!”
"A live snake is going too far!"
Anita confirms, “I’m on Kelly’s side, 100%!   It’s bad enough having dead mice in the freezer – having a live snake is going too far!   It’s not staying here a moment longer.”
"I can't turn my back on Katrina!"
Sam protests that he cannot turn his back on Katrina, as she needs him,
"Then find somewhere else to live!"
so Anita tells him, “Then find somewhere else to live!   If you won’t get rid of that snake – you’re out of here!”
He was left the snake in a will
“You don’t understand – my old friend Merfyn Mumbles left me Katrina in his will,” explains Sam.   Anita is unmoved, reminding him that he brought the snake into her home, knowing that she would not want it here – he went behind her back.
“I like you, Sam – you’re a lot of fun!” says Anita,
"The problem is us!"
“But the snake is not the problem, is it?   It’s us – this relationship is beginning to get stale!”   He agrees that it is not as it used to be, and resolves to go and pack.
"Keep that thing away from me!"
Kelly comes downstairs and stresses that she wants that thing kept away from her.   “Don’t worry – you’ll never see her again – or me, either!”
"Are you booting him out?"
Kelly asks Anita, “Are you booting him out?”   Anita does not like that choice of words, but agrees that she is, and hopes that they can remain friends.   She admits that it is really a relief, as things have not been right for a while, and this business with the snake was probably a blessing in disguise.
Chester's card for Catrin
Britt looks at the card and asks Chester, “Don’t you think it breaks my heart to see you locked up?”   His mother is now in tears, and he says he does not like to see her upset, so she urges him,
"I can't wait to have you home!"
“Don’t shut me out then!   Not a minute goes by when I don’t miss you – I can’t wait to have you home.”
"Why are you so stubborn?"
He grumbles that she is the reason he is still there, so she demands, “What sort of future would you have on the run from the authorities?   At the end of your time here, you can pick up your life again.   You’re a clever boy, and I want the best for you – why are you so stubborn all the time?”
"I get it from you"
He replies that he gets that from her.
"Where's you-know-what?"
When Sam comes downstairs with his bags, Anita asks him, “Where’s you-know-what?” and he assures her that the snake is safe.
"I'm leaving Cwmderi"
He has concluded that the time has come for him to leave Cwmderi;  he thought that he could settle down, but now realises he was deluding himself.
"You must speak to Colin first"
Anita insists that he must speak to Colin before he goes.
The official plumbing polo shirt
Iolo presents Siôn with a green polo shirt, commenting, “We could get logos put on them – how about ‘White and Father’!   You’ve been quiet this morning, what’s wrong? – Gwyneth?’
"She says I'm making a mistake"
Siôn tells him that Gwyneth is convinced he is making a mistake, and that he should consider her and Gwern.
"Listen to your instinct, Dad"
He is reminded, “It’s your life, Dad, so just listen to your instinct, and if she’s serious about you, she will understand.   Now, are you going to put on that polo shirt?
"Here's the van keys – you can finish the job"
You can finish the job – it’s only fitting the washer, and I’m confident you can do that!”
"That Columbian has been selling well"
Kelly gives Debbie a cup of her Columbian coffee, which she reports has been selling well, so Debbie agrees to keep selling it;  “I’m sure a few coffee snobs will pay through the nose for it.”
"Ham sandwich, please"
Siôn comes in for a ham sandwich;
"He's got you wearing uniform now!
Gwyneth, sitting in the window, comments, “He’s got you wearing uniform now – what I think obviously means nothing!”
"Try to accept it's important to me"
Siôn stresses that he has given the matter a lot of thought;  “It’s an investment, something really worthwhile – if you can’t understand that, try to accept that it’s important to me.”
"It doesn't mean you have to leave"
Colin argues with his father;  “The fact that things have not worked out with Anita doesn’t mean you have to leave.”
"You'll be better off without me"
Sam maintains that Colin would be better off without him.   “Thank goodness I’ve got Britt,” replies Colin, “Things would be pretty bleak otherwise.”
Colin goes
Sam has realised that he does not belong anywhere, and says that he is proud of Colin, who begs him to keep in touch and then leaves.
"I shall always be a wanderer!"
Sam admits to Anita that he has not been much of a father to Colin, But I shall never change – I’ll always be a wanderer!”
Off goes Capten Sam
He picks up his bags, and after a hug from Anita, leaves the house.
A wrench left lying around
Gwyneth goes to the salon, noticing a wrench on the basin;  she finds Siôn eating his sandwich, and he announces that he has finished the job.
"I won't stand in your way!"
“If it means so much to you, I won’t stand in your way,” she tells him, and he is overjoyed.
"We can spend the afternoon together"
“You’ve no idea how much that means to me!” he replies, “As I’ve finished early, we can spend the afternoon together.   Let me just tidy up here, and I’ll soon be home.”
She pretends to leave . . .
Gwyneth pretends to leave the salon, slamming the door, then creeps back, picking up the wrench
. . . and then tries a bit of sabotage
and using it to loosen the connection on one of the water pipes.   Then she quietly makes her exit.
