"We're not visitors, woman!"
When Dai and Diane go to Penrhewl to see DJ, Linda insists he is not ready for visitors, but Dai takes no notice.
"I almost lost her!"
DJ says that he almost lost Cadno;  “She’s only keeping the doctors on their toes,” Dai tells him, “Checking they weren’t slacking!”
Linda wants them to go, but Diane suggests that Dai and DJ go for a walk instead, and DJ agrees to this, although Linda is against it.
"Don't push Dai out!"
“I know you’re worried about him, but you can’t wrap him in cotton wool,” Diane tells her, “He’s not a child, and he has a Dad – don’t push Dai out!”
"If Dai doesn't like it – tough!"
Linda insists that this is the closest she and DJ have been for years, and if Dai does not like it – then ‘tough!’
Kelly is shocked by the treatment of Sheryl
Kelly is at number 7;  “I can’t believe they were so heavy-handed with Sheryl – it was a mistake – she’s not a criminal.” she says, and then wants to know Iolo’s news.
Both he and Tyler act as if they cannot think of anything;
"Apart from the fact we're engaged!"
Tyler replies, “No – apart from the fact that we’re engaged!”
"Since when?"
Kelly is very happy for them, and hears that they have not set a date yet.   As soon as Iolo leaves the house,
Tyler is in a hurry to go somewhere
Tyler also is eager to go out somewhere.
"Shall we have red or white wine?"
Siôn and Gwyneth are in the shop, and Siôn seems to be preoccupied.
"I've just heard the news!"
Kelly come rushing in, announcing, “I’ve just heard the news about Iolo and Tyler getting engaged!”   Seeing Siôn’s blank expression, she adds, “Please tell me you knew – me and my big gob again!”
Gwyneth sniggers at Kelly's hasty exit
and hurries out.
"He should have talked to me first"
Siôn is aggrieved that Iolo did not talk to him first;  “And why get engaged so soon?”   Gwyneth tells him that is what people said when she moved in with him, but he goes on, “He should be careful after what happened with Wiliam!”
"It's my last chance!"
Linda tells Diane, “I don’t want us to argue – you’ve been good to me.   I know I’m suffocating DJ, but you don’t understand – it’s my last chance!
"The cancer is back!"
I want to be here in his life – I haven’t recovered and the cancer is back!”
Tyler arrives home with flowers, and finds Iolo is not yet back;
"You've gone all out, haven't you?"
Kelly comes in and wants to know what is going on, so he shows her the ring he has bought Iolo.
Closeup of the ostentatious ring
“I can’t wait to see his face tonight when I propose,” says Tyler, “I want to do it at home with candles and music.”
"I'm going to cook us a meal"
After they have had a drink in the Deri, Siôn wants to go home and cook something for Gwyneth,
"You ought to ring Iolo first"
but she insists he should phone Iolo and congratulate him first.
Siôn tries several excuses
Siôn is still irked that Iolo did not talk to him about his engagement, and invents excuses for not ringing him.   “What if he doesn’t want to speak to me?   Will you lend me your phone?   If he sees my name, he might not answer.”
Linda continues that she knew when she saw the doctor that it was not good news;  “I thought it was all behind me – and there’s nothing they can do this time.
"I don't want DJ to know!"
I just want the chance to be a mother – but I don’t want anyone else to know, especially DJ!   I just want to enjoy the time I’ve got left.”
"Well, it sure smells like manure!"
Dai and DJ return from their walk in the fields, during which Dai slipped over in the top field and is covered in mud – or possibly manure.   Linda straightaway offers to put his dirty clothes in the wash;  “Take them off!   We all know what’s under there!” she says,
"Shepherd's Pie – your favourite!"
and then offers to cook them a meal – shepherd’s pie, DJ’s favourite.
"You didn't want to know after the fire"
Iolo obviously was contacted by his father, as he arrives at Y Felin to be told that they heard about the engagement from Kelly.   Iolo explains that when he tried to help after the fire, Siôn did not want to know, so he kept clear.
"I'm proud of you, Iolo!"
Siôn tells him, “I’m proud of you!” and presents Iolo with a bottle from his wine rack.   Iolo asks if he is doing anything tonight,
"I'll see you in the Deri!"
inviting him to a celebration at the Deri.
"How about a pint in the Deri?"
After the meal at Penrhewl, Dai suggests that he and DJ should have a pint at the Deri, and Linda immediately objects;  “I’m fed up with you interfering!” Dai tells her, “We’ll only be gone half an hour.”
"That mother hen never stops!"
As DJ goes to get changed, and Linda fusses over him, Dai remarks to Diane, “That mother hen never stops!”
"She's dying!"
Diane has tears in her eyes as she informs him, “She’s dying – the cancer has come back!”   This upsets Dai, but Diane tells him, “She doesn’t want DJ to know – or you!   Not a word to anyone, OK?”
"If anything happened to you . . ."
Dai is rather emotional as he says, “If anything happened to you, I’d be lost without you –
A kiss from Diane
you know that, don’t you?”
"We're celebrating in the Deri!"
Iolo arrives home with the bottle and informs Tyler that they are going to the Deri to celebrate;  he has arranged this with his father.
"There goes my nice quiet evening in"
Tyler is put out as this rather conflicts with his plans for a nice quiet evening in, but Iolo will not take no for an answer.
"Life's too short to stand in front of a sink!"
Dai is ready to leave for the Deri, and suggests, “Linda, why don’t you come with us – life’s too short to stand in front of a sink!”
"I thought I could trust you, Diane!"
“You know, don’t you?” demands Linda, “I thought I could trust you, Diane!”   Diane protests that she had to tell him, as she is his wife, and she cannot be expected to keep a secret like that from him.   Again Linda emphasises that DJ must not be told.
The happy couple caught, possibly for CnocCnoc
At the Deri, Gwyneth takes a photo of the smiling Iolo and Tyler;
"I was going to do this at home . . ."
“I was going to do this at home, with just the two of us – I know we’re engaged, but I want to do it properly this time,” says Tyler.
"Iolo White, will you marry me?"
He kneels before Iolo and says, “Iolo White, you’re everything to me – will you marry me?” as all the customers watch.
Kelly's amusement . . .
Iolo looks solemn, and makes Tyler stand up;
. . . abruptly changes to horror
the audience now look aghast.
Now it is Iolo's turn
Iolo also produces a ring, kneels and asks the same thing of Tyler, amidst a chorus of laughs and cheers.
Not what DJ wanted to see
DJ comes in while this spectacle is going on, takes one look and leaves again, followed by Dai.   Outside the door, DJ complains bitterly, “Cadno and I should be celebrating, not them!   Why are they allowed to be happy?   It’s not fair!”
"When Cadno comes round, you'll have your moment, too!"
Dai assures him, “We all know what he’s been through – and when Cadno comes round, you’ll have your moment, too!”
Siôn has been hitting the booze
Siôn appears to have drunk more than enough, and Gwyneth tells him it is time he went home.
"You don't like it, do you?"
Kelly sees Iolo looking at the ring on his finger, and remarks, “You don’t like it, do you?   It’s obvious!”   He admits that he cannot stand the thing, as he has never liked bling;  “Then tell him – you’ll have to wear it every day from now on,” Kelly advises, but of course Iolo will not say anything.
"Haven't you celebrated enough!"
When he arrives back at Y Felin, Siôn continues to drink;  Gwyneth considers he has celebrated enough.   “I might not get the chance again,” he slurs,
"I'm going to prison!"
“I might as well face facts – I’m not going to be here to see my own son get married!   I’ll be in prison!   I’m guilty, Gwyneth, and people who are guilty go to prison.
"If you don't mind, I'm going to celebrate!"
Now, if you don’t mind, I’m going to celebrate!”
"Iolo and Tyler had got engaged"
DJ goes straight to bed when he gets back to Penrhewl, and Dai explains why;
"You didn't tell him, did  you?"
Linda is only interested in whether or not Dai told him.
"Perhaps he should know!"
“Perhaps he should know!” states Diane, “We had a friend, Meic Pierce, Anita’s husband.   I knew the end was coming, but didn’t tell her – she missed out on his last few days because of me.”
Linda refuses to change her mind, so Diane stresses,
"I don't have any choice!"
“Keeping the truth from him is not helping anyone!   What if he blamed Dai?   It could ruin their relationship for ever!   I don’t have any choice!”
