DJ gets up late, and is admonished by Diane; “Trying to avoid Dai, are you? Mind you don’t lose your job, or you’ll be working at APD with him!” He walks out, without a word, and then Diane hears his phone ring;

she answers and is shocked by what she hears.

| "Right, I'll let him know" |
“Right, I’ll let him know,” she says.

| Sheryl is in a good mood |
Sheryl is feeling very happy – she has had breakfast in bed, and Esther has gone back to sleep.

| "I've not been very supportive lately" |
Hywel admits that he has not been very supportive lately, and he has been looking online about the adoption process.

| He is eager to get the process under way |
“Go and get the official documents and we’ll try to catch the post,” he tells her.

| "Here's the paperwork" |
She fetches them from a drawer; “This is better than winning the lottery!” she comments.

| "Oh that – I put it in the bin!" |
Tyler is looking for his file of year 9 reports; Iolo jokes that he put it in the bin, as he had spilt beans over it.

| Tyler becomes upset |
When Tyler becomes agitated, Iolo continues, “Joke! You got up at 3:00am and put them in the car, saying they’d be safer there!”

He is concerned that Tyler does not remember doing this.

| Britt brings some pickles for Colin |
Britt arrives with a jar of pickles for Colin, and detects that Iolo is worried about something. He says that Tyler is behaving strangely,

so Britt instructs him to put the kettle on and tell her about it.
DJ is grumpy at Penrhewl; Diane arrives,

| "Come to give me another mouthful?" |
and he demands, “Come to give me another mouthful?” He stalks off to the farmyard,

| "I can't take much more of this!" |
and Cadno reveals that she cannot take much more of his attitude.

| "He might not be here much longer!" |
“He might not be here much longer!” announces Diane, “I answered his phone earlier – a problem with his flights – to New Zealand – leaving on Friday! I can’t blame him, I suppose; there’s not much reason to stay here – with you and Dai.”

| Diane has a cunning plan |
Cadno does not want to see him going to the other side of the world; Diane fears that if he disappears, it could be too much for Dai. “We have to stop him – and I have a plan!”

| "This visa's in her grandmother's name!" |
Hywel is dismayed that the application form requires Esther’s visa, but there is only one in her grandmother’s name; “It’s a visitor’s visa, which runs out in three months!” he says,

| "It will be all complete by then!" |
but Sheryl is confident that the process will be completed by then.
“It will take less time as we already have the baby – it’s just a matter of going through the motions and signing a few forms. That’s just common sense,” she alleges, but Hywel questions what if she is wrong.

“After three months, she will be here illegally, with no visa – an illegal immigrant.”

| "She'll be here with her mother" |
Sheryl insists that is silly – she will be here with her mother. Hywel points out that she is not yet Esther’s mother – that is what the adoption process is all about. “They could possibly send her back – it is important to do this properly!” he stresses, and searches on chwilota.com for ‘visas for overseas adoption’.

Cadno tells DJ, “Diane says we can borrow APD’s rotovator to finish that corner – can you come with me to collect it?”

DJ is reluctant to go anywhere near APD, but she assures him that Dai and Jim will be at a site somewhere out in the sticks.

“I’ll buy you a pint afterwards, and you can finish early,” she tempts him.

Then he notices his mobile on the kitchen table, and asks why it is there; “That’s where you put it earlier,” lies Cadno.

Iolo carefully lines up the Bourbon biscuits on the plate. Britt considers that Tyler probably just needs a holiday;

“I remember what Macs was like at the end of term.” He picks up her cup from the table and places it on a coaster; she demands, “Come on, out with it, I know you too well – you’re hiding something!”

He tells her, “Last Thursday night, after the fight, I was a bit emotional and asked Tyler to marry me. I must have scared him off, as he has not mentioned it since. Why do I do such stupid things? Spoil things?”

“You’re not the only one!” exclaims Britt,

| Iolo cannot believe his ears |
and after Iolo demands to know, informs him, “I kissed Colin yesterday!” Iolo is highly amused by this.
When he and Cadno arrive at APD, DJ goes to find the rotovator;

inside the security cage, he finds Dai. “I’m just the skivvy to pick things up for Cadno,” DJ moans.

| "You're not coming out until you've talked!" |
Diane hurries to shut the gate and secure it with a padlock, telling them that they are not coming out until they have talked.

| "I need the toilet!" |
Dai is exceedingly displeased; “You can’t do this! I need the toilet, after all the coffee I’ve drunk! You can lock us in here for a month, and it won’t make any difference!” DJ is surprised to find himself agreeing with Dai.
“You don’t have a month!” Diane advises, “DJ is flying to New Zealand on Friday, so you’d better get on with it!”

Britt describes Colin as, “A lovely man – kind, and lots of fun!’ Iolo advises that she should text him and offer to go for a drink, then see how it goes, as she deserves a bit of fun.

She agrees to text Colin, if he will talk to Tyler; “It’s easier to talk than to worry – it’s time we started being brave!”

As DJ searches for a way out,

Dai laments, “If I organised a lock-in, it would be in a pub!” Then he muses, “One thing I would have liked my son to have been is that he took after his Mam. I can be stubborn and impatient at times – I wouldn’t like you to inherit that.”
DJ in turn considers, “One thing I would have liked in my father is some kindness, someone enough of a man to say, ‘You’re a good boy,’ or, ‘I’m proud of you,” but that’s too much to ask, I suppose. When I’m on the other side of the world, we can forget about each other and move on!”

and DJ suspects this is emotional blackmail,

When she comes back, she also suspects that he is only acting. “Do you want to stand there until I pass out?” he demands, and at Cadno’s suggestion, Diane tries unsuccessfully to release the padlock.

DJ tells her, “Let me do it!” but he manages to break off the key, and comments,

Sheryl protests that she only wanted to look after her little girl. Hywel is furious, “I asked you if everything was in place and I trusted you. How could you let me get close to that little girl, after everything I’ve been through?

“You tricked me to get pregnant with Meilyr – and now you’ve tricked me again to get another baby!” He walks out.

In a sudden change of heart, DJ exclaims, “Dad, if it means so much to you, I won’t go!”

As the gate is finally opened, Diane rushes in to comfort Dai.

Iolo is waiting for Tyler in the Deri; when he arrives, Iolo does not get a chance to speak to him, as he forgot that he has a PTA meeting in the café, and rushes off again. Iolo looks at Britt, who is behind the bar, and has been composing a text to Colin,

Dai is given a cup of tea, and DJ thinks he ought to go for a checkup, but he prefers a pint;

DJ tells Cadno she is welcome to join them, as she is almost family; she thinks otherwise, “I’m glad you’re staying, and that things are OK between you and Dai, but I’ll never be family,” and she goes.

Dai reassures him that he has to take one step at a time.

Sheryl, carrying Esther, finds Hywel in the Deri, drowning his sorrows, and pleads with him to come home; “I’m sure things are not as bad as you think,” she says, “I’ve just made a mistake, and no-one knows about the visa. If we keep quiet, it will be OK.”

Hywel insists that the adoption process will notice, just as he did. Sheryl replies, “Well, we won’t go through the process, then.

Sheryl naïvely insists, “By then we’ll have proved we can look after her like good parents – that’s all the adoption process is.
