Tyler is late getting up; “Why didn’t you wake me? I’ve got year 7 first lesson!” he tells Iolo, who replies that he has a day off today.

| Tyler does not appreciate his breakfast |
“I phoned Gaynor, and we have both got a day off, so sit down,” Iolo tells him, “Eileen didn’t have any smoked salmon, so we’re having ham and eggs.”

| "Did you have to punch me so hard?" |
Tyler asks why Iolo had to punch him so hard last night, as he has a headache. Iolo blames it on the champagne they drank, but Tyler has trouble remembering that.

| "You don't regret it, do you?" |
“It was quite a night with one thing and another! You don’t regret it, do you?” Iolo asks, and Tyler decides that stepping into the ring with him was the most stupid thing he has ever done.

| "I got knocked out too" |
Colin comes down and points out that he got knocked out too; Iolo emphasises that there is a difference between fainting and being knocked out.

| "Sitting there won't help" |
Diane tells Dai, “Sitting there, breaking your heart, won’t help.” Dai, on the other hand, wants to be on his own and does not imagine a day in the company of her and Jim will alter anything. “DJ wants us back to how we used to be,” she insists,

but he answers that it will never be back how it was. When she leaves for APD, Dai changes his mind and decides to accompany her.

| Iolo has some shopping plans . . . |
Tyler feels better after a shower, so Iolo suggests they could go shopping in Swansea, or even Cardiff. “I can’t do that – I’ve pulled a sickie!” objects Tyler, “Actually, I feel much better now – I’m going to school. Year 9 have an important test this morning, and I’d like to be there.”

Iolo is upset, as he has cancelled some jobs today.

Ed starts to apologise profusely to Sioned about last night, but she mournfully announces,

“It doesn’t matter now – there’s no baby! You don’t want the gory details, but no baby! I was so sure!”

| Ed looks as if he has already given up |
Ed hugs her but his face shows either relief, or perhaps disinterest.

| Sheryl has lunch with Hywel |
Sheryl brings Esther to the Deri, as she is having lunch with Hywel.

“You’ve been very patient with me, letting me stay at the flat until I can find somewhere,” he says.

| "There's no chance she'll be left here today!" |
As he goes to order their meal, Sheryl rather unnecessarily comments, “At least, there’s no chance she’ll be left here today!”

Dai is standing around, looking depressed, around the back of APD; Diane concludes, “You’re right – there’s no point in you being here. You have to sort yourself out, or you’ll make yourself ill.

“Go and have a quiet lunch, put your feet up and mull it over.”

| "Sorry it turned out like this" |
Dai tells her, “Sorry it turned out like this, and for dragging you into it – it’s not fair!” She repeats that the sooner he sorts himself out, the better; “You’re right – as usual!” he says, and heads homewards.

Iolo is doing his business accounts when Colin comes in with chips again; he says he will phone about the oven when he gets a chance, and insists that Britt is always pleased to see him, as she is glad of a friend in the village.

“Where’s lover boy?” Colin enquires, “Don’t tell me you’ve argued again? You’re like yo-yos – like cheerful Charlie Chester this morning, now you’re more like Jim Probert on a bad day!”

Iolo reveals, “I asked Tyler to marry me, and he said yes, but I think he’s changed his mind.”

Colin concedes that it is a big question to ask someone; “He was more than willing last night, but today he hasn’t even mentioned it,” says Iolo.
Colin suspects, “As you’ve only known each other five minutes – perhaps he needs time to think.”

Iolo is more of the opinion that Tyler does not know how to tell him that last night was a mistake.

Colin’s advice is, “Talk to him when he comes home – ask straight out, with no messing – it’s the only way.”

At the Deri bar, Sioned looks across at Hywel and Sheryl with the baby, and warns Ed, “Don’t talk about boxing again, and don’t drink too much! You want tip top seeds –

“you should start taking zinc and selenium – that’s what the magazines say.”

Ed wearily asks, “Can I eat what I like?” and she replies that he can, within reason.
“Don’t you want me to get pregnant?” she demands, and he enquires whether they have to discuss the subject in a pub.

“This is the first meal I’ve had without Madam crying!” announces Sheryl, then her phone rings.

Iolo is obsessively cleaning the sink when Tyler returns unexpectedly, as he has a terrible headache. Iolo tries to raise the subject of last night, but Tyler stops him,

“Can we forget about last night? I feel such an idiot – last night shouldn’t have happened! It’s my fault, not yours – I shouldn’t have agreed to it!”

“I’m going to take a couple of tablets and have a nap.

| Sioned is unusually subdued |
Eileen is back from another of her runs, and after having a drink of water, notices Sioned, sitting despondently on the sofa. “It was a false alarm – I’m not pregnant,” she announces, “I’m sorry – I’ve been horrible to you!”

“That’s OK – I’m used to it,” replies the long-suffering Eileen.
“Sioned goes on, “All my life, when I’ve wanted anything, I had to have it there and then, or I lose interest but this is different!

“Do you think Ed is getting cold feet? His behaviour is weird. I love him and he loves me.”

Eileen advises that she will have to stop getting stressed if she wants to become pregant, and that she cannot control everything, especially nature. “I’m going to give nature as much help as possible,” insists Sioned.

Sheryl feels herself to blame; “If I had stayed there longer, things could have been different.”

Hywel assures her that she did what Esther’s mother wanted; the baby deserves love, a home and a mother, like every child, and she is the ideal mother.

“I’m scared to do this on my own,” she admits, “I want her to have the best!”

“And that’s what she’ll get – I’ll make sure of that!” declares Hywel, “How about going home – together?

Iolo tells Colin that Tyler wants to forget last night;

Colin enquires, “Was that the boxing or the proposal?” Iolo is not sure, but intends to give him time to think, as he may be in shock.

He instructs Colin not to mention this – to Tyler or anyone else, but Colin reckons he is giving up too easily.

Sioned has a word with Ed: “I’ve been in too much of a rush with this baby business, but it’s not going to happen again. I’m not going to be disappointed again –

“I’ve worked out my fertility chart, and nothing will go wrong this time!”

Going rather over the top, she continues, “I’ve got the strongest, most handsome and loving man as a husband – the perfect father for my child – I know it’s going to be all right.”

Anxiously, she looks at Ed and asks, “It is – isn’t it?”

Ed hugs her once again, but with the same blank expression as before.

Diane arrives home at Bryntirion, calls Dai’s name and then sees the note on the table.

“Dearest Diane, I’ve taken your advice. I need time to think. Don’t know when I’ll be back. Sorry, Dai.”
