Hywel takes Esther for a walk
Hywel takes Esther for a walk in her pram;  a passing stranger remarks,
"What a lovely baby!"
“What a lovely baby!”
Meleri texts Tom
At number 7, Meleri types a message to Tom on her phone;
"How did you sleep?"
when Iolo come downstairs she tells him, “I slept well –
"I shall have to be honest more often!"
I shall have to be honest more often!   I’ll be going after a cup of tea – I’ll go out the back way, as I don’t want to take advantage.”
Hywel continues his perambulations
Hywel continues along the street and meets a police constable and a detective;
At least, they are not looking for him
he is pleased that they walk straight past him.
Iolo admits to Meleri, “I’ve done a lot of thinking, you may be right.   You have suffered a lot, and can come to an agreement about the court case.”
Meleri is pleased she is off the hook . . .
She expresses her gratitude and flings her arms around him.   “I need to move on,” he continues.
. . . and breathes a sigh of relief
Meleri breathes a sign of relief.
As she says, “You’re an incredible guy – I won’t forget this!” there is a knock on the door;
"Mr Iolo White?"
Iolo expects it to be Colin, who has forgotten his key, but it is the two police officers.   When they see Meleri, she flees out of the back door,
That sticking bolt gets them every time
but is not a match for the sticking bolt on the back gate, and they catch up with her.
"I'm arresting you . . ."
The DC informs her she is being arrested for breaking her bail conditions and cautions her.   As they drag her away,
Iolo is distraught
she wails, “Tell them to stop, please Iolo!”
Ffion would rather be getting ready for school
Sheryl has phoned Ffion, asking some trivial questions about adoption, while Ffion tries to get ready to leave for school.
"She keeps phoning!"
Ffion complains to Gethin, “I regret offering to help hr – she keeps phoning.   At least she’s getting a chance to get used to Esther.   I can’t believe they’re allowed to have the baby while going throught the adoption process.”
Gethin realises she is comparing this situation with that of her and Jinx.
"They don't know how lucky they are!"
She goes on, “They don’t know how lucky they are – they’ll have to be honest with the authorities if they want to keep Esther.   Neither of them are angels!”
"Please, Tyler, she needs our help!"
Iolo is pleased to see that Tyler is back at number 7;  he replies he is only there to pick up some school work.   “I was right about Mel – she’s gay – I knew there was something.   That’s what drove her to it – she was too afraid to accept it.   Please, Tyler, she needs our help – she doesn’t have anyone else – her parents threw her out, and she’s been arrested.”
Tyler is far from sympathetic
Tyler has not spoken a word,
"Did you tell the police?"
and Iolo asks, horrified, “You didn’t tell the police?”
"No"  (rather unconvincingly)
Tyler rather half-heartedly denies it, and Iolo continues to panic, “What happens if they arrest me for letting her stay?”   Tyler turns and walks out, without a word.
John Post is glad to see cadno back in circulation
When Cadno and Eifion arrive at the café, John Post waves to her through the window.   Opposite, Sheryl is keeping watch,
"You must think we're stupid!"
and when Gethin comes in for a bacon sandwich, she comes over and starts haranguing him.
“You must think we’re stupid!” she begins, and Gethin is puzzled, “Did she think I wouldn’t find out?   Just tell her to share her feeling to my face!
"She's the only one who knows all the details!"
It hit me just now – she is the only one who has been helping with the adoption, and has been through all the details.   She is the only one who would know how to use it against us!”
The other customers are all ears
Her voice has been increasing in volume all this time, and the other café customers are taking an interest.
"All she's done is support you!"
Gethin has had enough of this, and refutes her argument;  “All she’s done is support you!   This is all a bit convenient, isn’t it?   Bear in mind that you have to disclose every last detail if you want to adopt – you’re not angels!   Good luck, but if you’re rejected, you have to accept it’s all a matter of procedure.
"Don't try to bend the rules again!"
That’s the system - remember before you try to bend the rules again!”   Sheryl rushes out.
Dai settles down for his quiet lunch . . .
Dai has just prepared his lunch – a couple of ham rolls and a cup of tea;  “I know how to enjoy myself too, Diane!” he mutters.
. . . when in walks DJ
Then he is shocked when the door opens and DJ walks in.
"You almost gave me a thrombo!"
“You almost gave me a thrombo!” Dai shouts.
DJ asks if he can stay for a while as it did not work out the way he wanted in New Zealand.
Apparently, DJ's shearing is not up to much
“Shearing is not a talent developed overnight, and no-one would give me a job as a chef.”
"This is not to do with Cadno?"
Dai enquires whether he is back because of Cadno.   DJ denies that, simply saying that he is a failure, but when he is told that Eifion has quit his job as traffic warden, DJ replies, “Hallejujah – free parking!”
DJ hears that Eifion has moved into Penrhew
DJ does not look too pleased when he hears that Eifion is now farming full-time at Penrhewl.
"We'll go to the Deri later"
Dai proposes going to the Deri for a pint and a steak, after he has put his feet up for a while.
Iolo is being quizzed
Now Iolo is being interviewed by the police;  “Miss Dafydd says that the back door was open, and that she came to talk to you, but we arrived before she could do that.   Is that correct?”
"That's exactly what happened"
Iolo agrees that was exactly what happened, and is told that is the end of the matter untio the court case.
He enquires, “As a matter of interest, what will happen to Meleri now?”
"She'll be remanded in custody"
The answer is that she will be remanded in custody until the trial date.
"Gethin wrote that letter!"
When Hywel returns to the salon with Esther, Sheryl drags him in to the back room and informs him, “I know who wrote the letter – it was Gethin!”
"You were sure iot was Ffion this morning!"
He points out that she was sure it was Ffion this morning, but she is insistent, “If you heard the way he spoke to me in the café, it was like he was reading out the letter!   Like not being fit to have Esther, and having to be honest with the the authorities.”
Hywel goes off to sort Gethin out
Hywel grabs the letter and marches out of the shop, to sort this out once and for all.
"Did you write this letter?"
At the garage, he grabs Gethin, forces him up against the storage cupboard, and demands, “I it you?   Did you write this letter?   It’s word for word what you said to Sheryl earlier.
"Does Ffion know about your views?"
Does Ffion know about your views?”
"All right, yes ,it was me!"
At the mention of Ffion, Gethin replies that it was him, but he does not know why he did it.
Things look like getting violent
“After all we’ve been through!” shouts Hywel and appears to be about to wallop Gethin.
On the way to the Deri . . .
Dai and DJ walk towards the Deri, but outside the chippy
. . . they meet Eifion and Cadno
come face to face with Eifion and Cadno.   DJ immediately retreats, saying, “I guess I should rest after the flight.”
Cadno wants to be taken home;  “Don’t go just because that numpty is back!” urges Eifion.
"Right – the truth now!"
Nearby, Dai sits DJ down on the bench and says, “Right – the truth now!   You’re back because of her, aren’t you?”  DJ admits that he thought being the other side of the world would make matters easier, but the opposite happened.
"All day long I thought of how it used to be"
“All day long I thought of how it used to be, but I don’t know what the next move is,” he says.
"I'm an expert in solving things like this"
Dai maintains he is an expert in solving things like this,
"Don't you dare!"
but DJ does not want him interfering.
"Some people just don't have a conscience!"
In the 4x4, Eifion goes on, “I don’t know how he has the nerve to come back – he’s caused enough trouble as it is.   Some people just don’t have a conscience!”
"He was as shocked as I was"
Cadno remarks that DJ was as shocked as she was, but Eifion reminds her that DJ ran off when she was at her most poorly.   “He’s not the sort of bloke you can rely on!”
Off they go, back to the farm
The 4x4 drives off, back to Penrhewl.
"You were right – Gethin wrote them!"
Hywel returns to the salon and tells Sheryl she was right – Gethin wrote the letters.   “I left before I did anything I’d regret,” he assures her.
"What if we've made matters worse?"
Then she suddenly thinks, “What if we’ve made matters worse?
"They might give character references!"
They might give character references, as ex-partners!”
"What was I supposed to do?"
Hywel is furious, arguing that he has done his best, and asks what else he is supposed to do.
"You promised not to see her again"
Iolo pleads with Tyler not to go, but he replies, “You gave your word – you promised not to see her again, and what do you do?
Off Tyler goes again
Put a roof over her head   You chose her over me – it’s as simple as that!”
Ffion kisses Arwen
When Ffion comes home to Cysgod y Glyn, Gethin takes her out of the room
"How could you?"
and demands, “How could you, after all they’ve been through?
"Haven't they suffered enough?"
Haven’t they suffered enough?   The anonymous letters they’ve been getting – what was it?   ‘They’re not angels’ and ‘they don’t deserve Esther’?   Where have I heard them before?”
"I wouldn't do something so cruel!"
Ffion is devastated that he could suspect her of doing such a thing;  “I wouldn’t do something so cruel!” she protests.
"You mean you didn't know about the letters?"
Gethin looks confused;  “You mean you didn’t know about them?   I’ve just admitted to writing them, thinking I was taking the blame for you!”

"Why are you so stupid?"
She explodes, “For something I haven’t done!   Why are you so stupid?   Your apology means nothing to me!   Why do you always make things worse?”
