![]() |
| "Can you take Arwen?" |
“Can you take her this morning?” Ffion asks, “I have to call at the Deri on the way to school to make sure Garry has not forgotten tonight’s meeting.”
Gethin thinks that he would have heard something from Hywel and Sheryl by now if they intended to take the matter further,
![]() |
| "Thank goodness it's the end of the week!" |
and Ffion irritably comments as she leaves, “Thank goodness it’s the end of the week!”

![]() |
| It does look slightly past its best |

She is soon forced to run upstairs once more, shouting, “Oh no, not again!”

![]() |

![]() |
| . . . and has something to ask Garry |

![]() |
| "I keep having the same nightmare!" |
Then Ffion comes across the road, telling Garry that she keeps having the same nightmare – Craig forcing her to drink – and wants to be able to forget it.
![]() |

He once again insists that she is safe, but there is nothing else he can do.

![]() |
| "If it wasn't for him, we wouldn't need the meeting" |

| "I've forgotten what I came in for" |
she tells him she cannot remember what she came in for.
![]() |
| Nicky sits on the draining board |
Vicky has just bathed Nicky in the sink at Maes-y-Deri, when Dai comes visiting,
![]() |
| "Hello, little fellow!" |
wanting to talk to Mark. “You are joking! He’s at Mam’s, and you’ll get even less of a welcome there,” says Vicky.
![]() |
| Dai notices the use of the sink |
Then he sees Nicky sitting on the draining board;
![]() |
| "That's his bath – thanks to you!" |
“That’s his bath – thanks to you!” snarls Vicky.
Rather sheepishly replies, “Jimbo is out on a job all day – maybe Jason can help.

“I’ll install the bath upstairs before the end of the day!”
![]() |
| "Is anything wrong?" |

Sara returns from the bathroom, complaining, “I don’t know how much more of this I can stand!”
![]() |
| "Ginger tea is supposed to be good" |
Jason presents her with some ginger tea, as his research online indicates this can help.
![]() |
| "How about Rhys for a boy?" |
He says, “If it’s a boy, how about calling him Rhys?”
![]() |
| "Your mother will arrange everything!" |
“Diane will have named him, baptised him and enrolled him in school by the end of the month!” replies Sara, rather caustically, then adds, “The tea has not helped – bin!” Jason brings it round, and she vomits, very loudly, into it.
![]() |
| "I don't want this baby any more!" |
Dai has just arrived, and hears her wail, “I can’t do this! I don’t want this baby any more! I want it to be over!” Looking aghast, he creeps out again.
![]() |
| Ffion is fast asleep |
Gethin arrives home to find Ffion fast asleep on the sofa;
![]() |
| It is not explained what this bottle actually is |
he looks in the carrier bag on the worktop and finds a bottle.
![]() |
| "I'm supposed to be taking a lesson!" |
He wakes her, and she panics, shouting, “I have to go, I’m supposed to be taking a lesson! Will you have Arwen while I go to the meeting?”
![]() |
| "We have to face them sooner or later" |
Gethin insists that he will be going with her; “We may meet Hywel and Sheryl there, but we have to face them sooner or later.” She rushes off to school.
![]() |
| "Are you keeping something from me?" |
When Vicky asks her mother if she and Mark are keeping something from her, Debbie changes the subject.
![]() |

Then Dai returns and Vicky announces that he is bringing the bath back, but he explains there is a problem.
![]() |
| "If it's not done today, it will be tomorrow" |
“If it’s not done today, it will be tomorrow,” he says, “Jason’s got rather a lot on his plate at the moment!”

| "I'd like a word with you and Mark" |
Then he tells Debbie that he would like a word with her and Mark, and she replies that it depends on what he has to say.
![]() |
| A nice hot water bottle . . . |
Jason gives Sara a hot water bottle, covers her with a blanket,
![]() |
| . . . and a snuggle under the blanket |
and sits under the other end of it. “After Dai’s performance, I thought that Diane would be phoning every half-hour!” he says, puzzled.
![]() |
| "That thing gets uglier!" |
Sara simply wants to enjoy the peace and quiet; turning her head, she adds, “The more I look at it, the uglier it gets!” Jason points out that it was his.
![]() |
| "I didn't mean what I said!" |
“What I said earlier – I didn’t mean it,” she confesses.
![]() |
| "Say the word, and he goes!" |

![]() |

Dai is very contrite; “First, I’m sorry for what happened and the fuss I caused – I’m not proud of that. I want you to take your time paying the debt.”
![]() |
| "What made you change your mind?" |

![]() |
| "Take care of yourself" |
“Yes – take care of yourself,” and leaves quietly.
![]() |
| Colin has a brilliant idea . . . |
The meeting is under way at the Deri. Colin has just come up with an idea; “Kelly can publicise it through the Western Post – thousands will come!” Eileen cannot believe he is serious, suggesting a ‘Miss Cwmderi’ contest, but apparently he is;
![]() |
| . . . which his father finds amusing |
“Bikinis in the afternoon, gowns in the evening – a bit old-fashioned, but very classy!”
![]() |
| Gaynor lists the suggestions |
Gaynor summarises the ideas thus far; “From Garry – a race, carrying trays of beer, Megan’s Whist Drive, Kelly’s sponsored silence – and . . . Miss Cwmderi!” As Chester lurks in the background, Gaynor goes on, “We need a more prestigious event to raise the money.”
![]() |
| "I've got an idea!" |
Chester steps up, announcing, “I’ve got an idea, but before that I want to say sorry for everything – I know you’re all here today because of me!
![]() |
| A full public apology and an offer to help |
“I can’t undo what I did to Bethania – but I promise I’m going to do my best to help you make the new Bethania a success!”

![]() |
| "What's this idea of yours?" |
Colin asks what this idea is.
![]() |
| "Cwmderi's version of Glastonbury" |
“Cwmderi’s version of Glastonbury,” he says, “A day or two of bands and live stand-up. Everyone loves festivals, and it could make a lot of money.” The suggestion receives widespread approval.
![]() |
| "Come on, we're going home!" |
Gethin tells Ffion that they are going home, as she is half asleep, but she urges him to go and collect Arwen.
![]() |
| "About time you took responsibility for your little girl" |
“It’s about time you took responsibility for your little girl!” he says, rather brusquely, and she takes exception to this.
![]() |
| Probably not exactly the festival Chester had in mind |
Gaynor is talking about a Bardic Contest, hosted by Twm Morys, folk dancing, or Cerdd Dant (which is, apparently, the art of vocal improvisation over a given melody.)
![]() |
| "I've never been so proud of you!" |
Meanwhile, Britt tells Chester, “I’ve never been so proud of you!” Garry agrees, and asserts that he is turning into a man at last.
![]() |
| "It takes a real man to apologise" |
Even Megan compliments him that it takes a real man to apologise.
Chester personally apologises to her, “I took advantage of your kindness,”
![]() |
| "Creep!" |
and Garry describes him as a creep.
![]() |
| "You should go to bed" |
Back at Cysgod y Glyn, Gethin tells Ffion to go to bed,
![]() |
| "What I need is . . ." |
but she protests, “That’s the last thing I need! You don’t understand – what I need is . . .”
![]() |
| "Go on, say it! You want a drink!" |
Gethin prompts her, “Go on, say it! You want a drink! Answer me! Are you drinking again? You’ve been like a zombie all week.”
![]() |
| "I can recognise the look on your face" |
She emphatically denies this, but he says he can recognise the look on her face when she wants a drink.
![]() |
| "You were wrong then, and you're wrong now!" |
“You’re wrong!” she shouts, “You were wrong about me writing the letters and you’re wrong now!” He comments that he might as well go back to the Deri.
![]() |
| "Do you want me to drink again?" |
“Go on, turn your back!” she snarls, “Do you want me to drink again? The reason I’m like a zombie is because I can’t sleep –
![]() |
| "I keep seeing Craig . . .!" |
“I keep seeing Craig stuffing a vodka bottle into my mouth – over and over!”
![]() |
| "This is just an excuse!" |
He maintains that she is using this as an excuse, but she screams, “He was in our home, threatening our children! If it wasn’t for you and Garry, I wouldn’t be in this mess!
![]() |
| "It's your fault – and his!" |
“It’s all your fault – and his! But there we are – just say it’s my fault!”
