| "Another of Sioned's fads?" |
Inquisitively, Jim watches the video, and when Eileen comes in he asks her, “What’s this – one of Sioned’s latest fads? She flits from one to the next.”
![]() |
| "She'll have to give up exercise" |
Eileen replies that she will have to give up exercise soon, now they’re trying for a baby.
![]() |
| "Where are they going to live?" |
Jim is shocked; “Where are they going to live? We don’t want a baby crying all night in this small flat – and baby stuff all over the place.” Eileen confesses she is quite looking forward to being a grandmother;
![]() |
| "She'll make the most of having a baby-sitter on tap!' |
his reaction is, “I’m sure Sioned will make the most of having a baby-sitter on tap!” He laughs, “Sioned a mother?”
Eileen cannot meet him for lunch as she says she is meeting Ffion to discuss recipés for a dinner party. “Once Sioned has this bambino, you won’t have time to make a cup of tea!” grunts Jim, and leaves for work.
![]() |
| "The police have phoned twice already!" |
Britt anxiously tells Garry that the police have phoned twice already this morning; “I can’t keep putting them off for ever!”
![]() |
| "Tell them you don't know anything" |
He advises that she tell them she does not know anything, but she answers, “Perhaps I should stick to his version. I almost died six months ago, and sometimes think I would be better off if I had – all I want is a bit of normality in my life.”
![]() |
| "You mustn't tell a different story to Megan's" |
Garry reminds her she will be in trouble if she and Megan tell different stories.
![]() |
| "You want me to lie to the police?" |
At that moment, Siôn is speaking to Megan in the Maenan shop; “You want me to lie to the police? You’re putting me in a terrible position.”
![]() |
| "It would do nobody any good if I went to prison" |
Siôn insists that he cannot withdraw his statement now, and it would do nobody any good if he went to prison. Megan is adamant, “I can’t tell lies to the police – I’m not getting in trouble for someone else’s misdemeanours!”
Siôn growls at her, “Being a Christian is merely an act for you!”
![]() |
| "You're a fine one to talk!" |
and she considers that rather rich, coming from him. “So you want to punish me for being supportive as the congregation of Bethania is dwindling? That’s what I’ll tell the police – the money was a loan from you, but you turned against me when Gwyneth moved in!
![]() |
| "Tread carefully!" |
“I won’t make this easy for you, so tread carefully!” So saying, he walks out, leaving Megan shaken.

| Dai puts in some training |
Jim arrives at APD to find Dai training with a punchbag, and startles him by ringing the bell on the counter.
![]() |
| "I was a champion!" |
“I was Carmarthenshire Junior Middleweight Champion!” Dai boasts.
“Yeah – and my name’s Olga Korbut,” replies Jim. Dai admits that he may be struggling on the fitness front, but he still has the technique, and Jim realises that if this is true, they might have a chance to make some money here.
![]() |
| Jim sees a money-making scheme here |
“Let’s open a book – no-one will guess that you were a boxer – they’ll all bet on you losing.” Dai is concerned that it depends on who is his opponent, but Jim reveals he is on the selection committee; “Considering your age, you won’t be up against a good boxer. Then we’ll build up the hype about your opponent – with your heart condition and lack of fitness, no-one will rate you. Then all you have to do is deliver the knockout punch!”

| Sara has a cake for the workers |
Ed sees Sara come out of the café with a cake; “You’ll have to do a lot of exercise to burn that off!” he jokes, but it is to bribe her workers into staying late tonight.
![]() |
| "I'll be training later" |
She will be training in the park later.
![]() |
| "Sioned wouldn't like that" |
Ed admits, “Sitting in a taxi all day doesn’t help the waistline!” When Sara encourages him to join her with training, he is reluctant, as Sioned would not approve, but she eventually persuades him;
![]() |
| "All right – but don't tell Sioned!" |
“All right – but don’t tell Sioned!” he says.
![]() |
| Obviously, Eileen is not used to this . . . |
Ffion and Eileen are running in the park, and soon Eileen is exhausted and has to lean on a tree;
![]() |
| . . . and is about ready to give up |
when two men walk past, laughing, Eileen gasps, “I don’t think this is a good idea!” Ffion stresses that in a few weeks she will be much better, with more energy, sleeping better and her blood pressure will be down.
![]() |
| "Right, walk for three minutes" |
They move off, walking for three minutes, then jogging for one minute.
![]() |
| "Leave my sister alone!" |
As Siôn is on his way along the back street, he is accosted by Garry; “How many times to I have to tell you? Leave my sister alone!” he rages,
![]() |
| Garry resorts to violence |
grabbing Siôn and forcing him against the door of Gwynfor’s workshop, “When are you going to listen?”
![]() |
| "What was your friend's name?" |
Siôn calmly enquires, “What’s your friend’s name? Oh yes, Craig – he liked threatening people, just like you! What was he going to do? Yes – hurt Britt’s children – especially Chester.”
![]() |
| "What happens if Craig finds out?" |
Garry releases his grip, as Siôn continues, “He hated Chester, and I can understand why! What happens if Craig finds out I’m going to make a full confession? Going to report the money – and the gun? He could do something desperate again!”
![]() |
| "I've always thought of you as a bit of a joke" |
“I’ve always thought of you as a bit of a joke,” replies Garry, “But a joke with brains until now! Could you live with your conscience if something happened to the children? You know that hiding a gun carries a longer sentence than stealing money and then paying it back.”
![]() |
| "You could also be sent to prison!" |
“But you could also be sent to prison!” Siôn reminds him, “And that could give me a lot of power!”
![]() |
| Does Garry look slightly worried? |
He walks away and Garry appears concerned.
![]() |
| They seem quite serious about this training . . . |
Ed and Sara exercise strenuously in the park,
![]() |
| . . . and all the exertion . . . |
and Ed is grateful for a chance to rest for a moment.
![]() |
| . . . makes Ed glad to stop |
“When you have a baby, you’ll long for the days you used to go to the park,” Sara asserts, “Are you excited about being a father?”
Ed seems unenthusiastic, and she continues, “Jason wants children, but I’m a bit like you – it wouldn’t be the end of the world if I didn’t.
![]() |
| "Here comes your mother-in-law!" |
“Oh, look! There’s your mother-in-law over there!”
![]() |
| Ed keeps out of sight |
As Ed hides behind a tree, he admits, “It’s not a great omen – keeping secrets from the woman who wants to carry my baby.” Sara asks if he really wants this baby at all.
![]() |
| Ffion has to return to school |
Ffion and Eileen finish their run, as Ffion has to return to school; Eileen now feels quite proud of herself and wants to do it again.
![]() |
| "Crikey Moses!" |
When it is revealed who Dai will be facing in the ring, he exclaims, “Crikey Moses! He’s much younger than me!” Jim tries to allay his fears by saying that he has never darkened the doors of a gym, but Dai is unconvinced; “He works on a farm, so he must be fit!”
![]() |
| "Only water for Dai – he's training!" |
Siôn comes in and offers them both a drink; Jim replies, “Only water for Dai, as he’s training for the boxing – and he doesn’t stand a chance, the way he drinks lager!” Then he asks Siôn, “Fancy a flutter? Dai against DJ – with his heart, I think it’s a safe bet.”
![]() |
| Siôn actually has one redeeming feature |
Siôn replies that he is not keen on gambling.
When Dai enquires if the business with the police is over, Siôn answers, “Yes, Chester was stirring, as usual. The latest is that he has moved in with Uncle Garry – birds of a feather!”
![]() |
| "Truly detestable!" |
Megan goes to see Britt; “I’ve never seen him like that before – truly detestable!”
![]() |
| "He's facing public humiliation" |
Britt points out that if he is charged, he will be faced with public humiliation, and for Siôn that is worse than prison. “For the life of me, I can’t lie to the police,” adds Megan.
![]() |
| "I want it all to be over" |
“He’s asked me to tell lies; wants me to say I knew about the loan, and that you agreed to it,” Britt tells her, “I want it all to be over – it’s hard enough going through a divorce. They tell me it will pass, but it’s not passing quick enough!”
![]() |
| "It will be my word against the two of you" |
Megan deduces, “Then it will be my word against the two of you!” Britt regrets that it will cause a lot of problems for her if she does not side with Siôn, but Megan is adamant, “I intend to follow my heart, even if it means prison. Sometimes I panic about it, but I believe I’m doing the right thing.”
![]() |
| "Not your usual style!" |
Jim looks through the washing basket for his tie and comes across an unfamiliar garment; “Not your usual style!” he comments. When Eileen explains she has taken up running, he is unsympathetic.
![]() |
| "You're not serious? You're too old!" |
“You’re not serious? You’re too old – you hear about people who panic in middle-age, start running marathons and collapse with a thrombo!”
![]() |
| However, Eileen seems determined |
Eileen stresses that she is only jogging, as she wants to be fit and lose weight, and that she has to do this on her own terms.
In the Deri, Siôn apologises to Megan for his tone earlier,
![]() |
| "My conscience is clear!" |
but she calmly replies, “I’ve had a word with the police, and my conscience is clear. I told them the truth – whatever happens to me, I know I’ve done the right thing.”
![]() |
| Eileen is still telling off Jim |
As they arrive in the Deri, Eileen is still emphasising to Jim how she should have started exercising years ago. When Jim sees Dai there, he tells her, “Dai is fighting DJ, young enough to be his grandson – have an ambulance ready!”
![]() |
| "You should start looking after yourself!" |
This irritates Eileen; “What’s the matter with you? Having a go at anyone wanting to get fit! You should start looking after yourself instead of poking fun at everyone else!”
![]() |
| "The children could be in danger!" |
Siôn has gone again to Britt’s, where he announces, “It’s time you found out the truth – the lives of the children could be in danger!”
![]() |
| "Angela did exactly what you're doing now" |
Jim is worried, and confides to Eileen, “When I was married to Angela, she did exactly what you’re doing now. Lost weight, started exercising, and wasn’t interested in me after that.” She replies that she is doing this for the good of her health – not to look better and attract someone else. She needs to be fit enough to look after a baby, as she knows Sioned will take advantage.
![]() |
| "Do you still fancy me?" |
“Do you still think I’m . . . all right? Do you still fancy me?” he asks, nervously,
![]() |
| "Of course I do!" |
and she assures him that she does.
![]() |
| "You're saying he wanted to kidnap the children" |
Britt is shocked by Siôn advising her that Craig wanted to kidnap the children; “But Garry gave him Iolo’s address to save your children and Gwern –
![]() |
| "It's all down to Garry" |
“it’s all down to Garry,” Siôn tells her.
She thinks otherwise; “No, this is all down to you stealing the chapel’s money!”
He warns that when he tells the truth, the children could be at risk; “He had their photos – Plan B he called it – Iolo was the first plan, thanks to your brother.”
![]() |
| "You want to get revenge on Garry and me?" |
“So you’re willing to put the children at risk to get revenge on me and my brother?” demands Britt, and he reluctantly admits that if everyone else is going to tell the truth, he will have to do the same.
![]() |
| "What went wrong?" |
“What happened to you?” asks Britt, “You used to be such a good man! What went wrong?”
![]() |
| "You and the Monks!" |
He chillingly replies, “You and the Monks!”
