10 August 2016

Sheryl has not had a good night
Sheryl is asleep on the sofa, having been up with Esther during the night.   After Hywel has opened the curtains,
She no longer wants a christening
Sheryl suggests, “The idea of a christening is not a good one – we don’t want to draw attention to ourselves, do we?   We’re fine here.”
"I didn't know the shop did deliveries"
Britt, doing some ironing, says that she did not know the shop did deliveries, but Colin points out,
"It's only for VIPs"
“It’s only for VIPs – and it’s worth it to see how beautiful you look in your pyjamas!”
"Chester's settling in well"
She tells Colin that Chester phoned earlier, and it appears that he is settling in well.   “Sorry that I’ve been a bit ‘offish’ with you lately,” she says, but Colin appreciates she has been through a lot recently.
"There's a steak with your name on it!"
“I’ve got the afternoon off, and there are a couple of steaks in the fridge – your name is on one of them!” Colin announces, “Come and have lunch with me.”   Britt readily agrees.
Garry chats to Chester
As Garry comes into the café, he is on the phone to Chester;  according to the conversation, he is apparently coming home.
Ffion is not pleased to see Garry
Ffion, who is there with Gethin and Daniel, does not look pleased to see Garry.
Daniel is enjoying Gethin's sausage
Daniel purloins one of his father’s sausages,
"I think it's time we left"
then Ffion decides it is time they left.
"I really am sorry for what happened!"
Garry tells her he is very sorry for what happened, but she is eager to go.   Then he tells Gethin, “I hope I have such a good relationship with my son.”
"That depends on whether you still mix with nutters!"
Gethin replies, “That depends on whether you still mix with nutters!   If it was not for you, Craig wouldn’t have come to Cwmderi!”
Hywel gives Sheryl tea . . .
When Sheryl returns from her shower, Hywel presents her with a cup of tea and tells her,
. . . and has planned what they will do
“Go and get dressed – Elinor is baby-sitting, so we can have lunch in the Deri.”   Sheryl protests that she does not want to leave Esther, but eventually agrees to have a quick lunch.
Sara, allegedly hard at work
Sara is lounging at home, waxing her leg and upper lip, when Jason phones.
"I'm expecting a lovely present"
She tells him she is catching up on paperwork, and is expecting a lovely present when he comes home.
"No, don't phone Elinor!"
Sheryl has already changed her mind, and Hywel finds it difficult to talk her out of phoning Elinor and going to fetch Esther.   “Do you want us to have a normal life?” he enquires,
"All right – just an hour then"
“We’re having lunch – you can’t hide up here for ever!”
"Problem?   What's that, then?"
Jason tells Sara that there has been a slight problem, and that she will not have to drive to Heathrow to collect him.   As she asks what he means,
"I'm standing right behind you!"
he creeps in the back door and surprises her, but as soon as they embrace, there is a furious knocking on the door.
"Don't answer the door!"
Diane’s voice is heard, shouting, “Jason!   I know you’re in there – Debbie saw you!”   Sara looks very disgruntled as he opens the door and Diane hurries in,
It's his overbearing mother again
with a barrage of questions, including “How was the flight?   Why are you back early?   Are you jet-lagged?”
She then announces that Hywel and Sheryl are having a party at the Deri;
"If they can make a fuss about their baby, so can I!"
“If they can make a fuss about their baby, so can I!” she insists.
"Well, there you go!"
Jason thinks it diplomatic to do as his mother wants.
Sheryl's mother has been summoned by Hywel
When Sheryl walks into the Deri, she is amazed to see her mother, holding Esther.
Debbie likes the idea of giving the baby back
Debbie comments, “I love being a gran – when you’ve had enough, you can give them back!”
"I can't get in contact with Dani"
Garry is trying to contact Dani, but gets no reply;
"Would you be unofficial godfather?"
then Hywel asks him, “I know that this is just an informal do, but would you look after Esther if anything happened to me?   An unofficial godfather, if you like?”   This surprises Garry, but in his more helpful mood today, he agrees.
Sheryl has her doubts about this
When Hywel tells Sheryl what he has arranged, she is somewhat less enthusiastic;  “Don’t ask anyone else!” she urges him.
The chef at work
Colin is industriously slicing onions when Britt arrives, wanting to put off their meal, as the ‘shindig’ is going on at the Deri, and she wants him to accompany her;
"There's a bag of cheese and onion crisps with your name on it!"
“There’s a bag of cheese and onion crisps over there with your name on it,” she quips.
"That party will be boring!"
Daniel is not keen to go to Hywel’s party, as it is likely to be boring
"I can't face the Deri yet!"
and Ffion is not ready to face the Deri yet, which Gethin quite understands.
"Just phone me, right?"
“I’ll only be an hour – just phone me, right?” he tells her.
Garry is in a repentant mood
When Gethin arrives at the Deri, Garry confesses, “What you said in the café earlier was right – I was responsible for bringing Craig to the village, and I don’t want people to get hurt because of me!”
He is pleased to hear that Gwern is all right
Garry has a call from Gwyneth, reassuring him that Gwern is enjoying himself.
"Babies bring a lot of problems"
Britt considers that babies bring problems, rather than solving them, but Colin replies,
"Look, even the giraffe's happy!"
“Sheryl’s happy, Hywel’s happy – even the giraffe’s happy!   When I’m first minister, I’ll make happiness a law!   How about that steak now?”   They leave the pub together.
"I shouldn't have dragged him here"
When Diane comes in with Jason and Sara, she apologises for dragging him out – it is just she is so glad to see him.   “I lost him to Australia once and I don’t want to do it again!”
"We both love this idiot!"
Sara is also in a more conciliatory mood;  “We have one thing in common – we both love this idiot!” she says.
"How do you like your steaks?"
Back at number 7, Colin asks how Britt likes her steaks, and she replies, “Rare – like me!”
A rather over-pressurised wine bottle
As she struggles to open the bottle, the contents spurt explosively all over her.
"No, I don't think I'll wear your pyjamas!"
She refuses Colin’s offer of a t-shirt and pyjamas to replace her wet clothes, instead going home, as it will soon be time to collect the children.
"Table for one, is it?"
When she has gone, Colin mutters, “Table for one, is it?   Looks that way!”
"How are you and Hywel getting on?"
Julie enquires how Sheryl and Hywel are getting on, and Sheryl describes it as being ‘tough’;
"Things made more sense the other side of the world"
“Things made more sense the other side of the world,” she admits,
"What if I mess up again?"
“What if I mess up everything again?”
Julie reassures her that as Hywel loves both of them, things will work out, and Sheryl tries to smile.
Hywel has a suggestion to make . . .
Hywel tells Sheryl, “Today could be a chance to start again as a family.”
. . . and produces a ring . . .
He takes a ring from his pocket, and she, although looking rather scared, tells him that would make her very happy.
. . . which Sheryl accepts
He slips the ring on her finger and kisses her.
Ffion arrives, against her will
Ffion comes in with Arwen and Daniel, as they wanted some crisps;  Garry is glad she has come and says, “If there’s anything I can do . . .”
"You can pay for these crisps!"
Ffion curtly replies, “Yes, you can pay for these crisps!”
"Let's have a bit of hush!"
Julie rings the bell behind the bar to call for silence, so that Hywel can address the party-goers.   While he is speaking, Garry’s phone which has been left on the bar, rings
"I don't care who it is – we're busy!"
and Julie answers it, telling the caller, “I don’t care who it is – we’re busy!”
"It was only some Craig!"
When she informs Garry, “It was some Craig!” he looks very concerned.
"We've learned to love again"
Hywel continues, “We still think about Meilyr every day, but with Esther, we’ve learned to love again.   We’re now able to adopt her officially, and going to spoil her silly!   This is her home.”   He takes a glass and proposes a toast, “To Esther Gwenllian Hughes!”
"No – Esther Gwenllian Hughes Llywelyn!"
Sheryl corrects him;  “Esther Gwenllian Hughes Llywelyn!”
