"Sorry I can't work my notice"
At Penrhewl, Eifion is on the phone;  “My ex-partner had a nasty accident with a tractor, and I have to do all the work on the farm.   Sorry I can’t work my notice – thanks for being so understanding.”
Another of his devious smirks
He grins with delight.
Britt is not pleased to see Colin
Colin visits Britt in her flat;  “Shouldn’t you be sorting papers?” she comments.   He notices that it is very quiet there, and she explains, “The children are on a sleepover.”
"What – you didn't invite me over?"
Colin is rather hurt;  “You had the place to yourself – and you didn’t invite me over?”   Britt says that she was shattered and had an early night;
"With who?"
noticing a pair of trainers on the table, Colin enquires, “With who?”
“They’re Chester’s – I’m sending them to him in Newcastle!” she snaps, and adds, “You’ve come here to check up on me, haven’t you?   Get out!”   Colin worries that she is going off him,
"Can you blame me?"
and she answers, “Can you blame me – the way you’re behaving?”
Jim's back is giving him trouble
Jim is feeling the effects on his back of shifting all that concrete,
"You need Uncle Bob's udder cream!"
and Eileen suggests, “Uncle Bob used to rub ointment on his back that he used for the cows’ udders.   They don’t make farmers like that any more!”
"We've got to keep Eifion happy!"
Jim is off to Penrhewl to make sure that Eifion is happy, and says that they can pay him the same as DJ for the time being, but he is worth two of DJ.
"Britt throw you out of bed early?"
Colin comes up to the flat, wanting to go to the Cash and Carry;  seeing his miserable demeanour, Jim remarks, “What’s wrong – did Britt throw you out of bed early?”   Colin replies that he would have to find a way into her bed first.
"Remember, Cadno's in a worse situation than you"
Jim reminds him that compared with Cadno’s problems, Colin’s are insignificant.
Vicky is getting into this building lark
Vicky is enjoying the building work so far, but stresses that they need a skip for all the rubbish.
"Fill up the skip at night!"
Mark has the solution;  “There’s one next door, that will save us a couple of hundred pounds – but wait and fill it up during the night.   That attic is going to be like a room in a boutique hotel – just the place for young Einstein to do his homework.   I know someone who sells power showers for £50, but don’t ask where they come from.”
"I've got the place under control, Jim!"
Jim arrives at Penrhewl, where Eifion tells him, “Everything is running like clockwork.   This is where I was always meant to be.   There’s a lot to do – I don’t think DJ did very much.”
"Look at the way he left us in the lurch"
Jim now has a very low opinion of DJ:  “Look at the way he left us in the lurch.”   When Eifion advises that he is bringing Cadno home later, Jim agrees to have a word with her about Eifion’s employment.
Colin has a vacant look
Eileen compiles her list for the Cash and Carry;  “Do we have any cat food?” she asks, but Colin is miles away.
"What's bothering you?"
“Right, Colin, out with it!   What’s bothering you?”
"She's lost interest in me"
He complains that Britt has lost interest in him, and does not want to be with him.   He cannot understand why the spark has fizzled out, and suspects she has found someone else, in which case, Eileen considers he is better off without her.
"Perhaps she's making a point to Siôn"
“If I get on her nerves, I want to know why!” he insists, “Perhaps she’s fed up with my sense of humour – or she’s proving a point to Siôn that she can move on without him.   Would you have a word with her?” he asks Eileen.
She is not keen, but Colin keeps badgering;  “Tell her I’m one hell of a catch!   That if you were single, you’d choose me.   And ask her if I’m interesting enough in bed!   Maybe she’s bored.”
"Your antics in bed are nothing to do with me!"
Eileen draws the line at this;  “Your antics in bed with Britt are othing to do with me!   And not something I’m going to drop into the conversation!   Sort out your own problems – I have more important things to do.”
Cadno is back home again
Eifion helps Cadno from the 4x4 at Penrhewl;  the thought of seeing the farmyard where it happened stopped her from sleeping last night.
"Does that field belong to Penrhewl?"
Eifion sees a couple of ramblers, goes over and finds it is Jason and Sara;  they ask if the field over by the crossroads belongs to Penrhewl.   When Eifion confirms that it does, they think it ideal for their proposed camping night for the villagers, to get them back to nature.
"I'm in charge now!"
Eifion, explaining that he is in charge now, gives them permission to use the field,
Cadno becomes emotional . . .
then returns to Cadno, who is in tears
. . . when she sees the tractor
after seeing the tractor parked nearby.
She hugs Bobi and Arthur
Inside the farmhouse, she sits down, and is overjoyed to see the boys;  she thanks Eifion again for looking after everything.
"Watch your fingers!"
After measuring, Mark begins sawing some timber;  Debbie has asked Dai to come over, and he warns Mark, “Watch your fingers!   You’ll saw through the sofa in a minute!”
"We're doing it ourselves!"
Vicky announces that they are competition for APD – they are doing it themselves.
"The pigs have just landed at Llanarthur Airport!"
Dai bursts out laughing at the prospect, commenting, “And the pigs have just landed at Llanarthur Airport!”   Debbie stresses that she wants to check the work is being done properly, and Mark says that they cannot afford APD.   “I’ve heard it all now!” snorts Dai,
"You've not heard the last of this!"
“But you’ve not heard the last of this,” and he stomps off, as Mark resumes his sawing.
"If I had no feelings for you, I wouldn't mind"
When Britt goes to the shop, Colin tells her, “If I had no feelings for you, I wouldn’t mind who you slept with!”   She protests that she is not with anyone, but he continues, “I’ve only seen you once this week – you had the flat to yourself last night, and didn’t invite me over!”
She alleges that the children tire her out during the holidays,
"There are several ways to relax!"
so he suggests, “I could have brought wine, then we could have had an early night!   There are several ways to relax!”
Gaynor thinks she should make a hasty retreat
Gaynor is just entering the shop as Britt rather forcibly replies, “All I want to do in bed is sleep!”   Gaynor advises them that they need to talk, and retraces her steps out of the shop.
"Been discussing me with your ex, have you?"
“Oh – so now you’ve been discussing me with your ex!” snarls Britt and flounces out.
"Failure is my middle name!"
Colin sadly confesses to Eileen that ‘Failure is his middle name.
"Any chance of a bit of work?"
She enquires whether there is any chance of his doing some work today.
At Maes-y-Deri, Mark is visited by Joseph Rees, the Buildings Regulation Officer, who goes upstairs to look at the work so far.
"You do have planning Permission, don't you"
Mark deduces that Dai, who is not far behind, has called him in.   “You do have planning permission?” asks Dai, but Mark has done his homework and replies that at less than 40m3, planning permission is not required.
"The work must reach certain standards"
Dai insists that it is important that the work reaches certain standards, as loud banging can be heard coming from upstairs.
"It's going to be a long recovery"
Eileen has cooked a meal at Penrhewl, and Cadno acknowledges, “It will be a long while before I’m fully recovered.”
"I thought DJ would be here!"
Then she adds, “I thought DJ would be here to welcome me.   I remember him being at the hospital when I woke, but he left without a word.”
Cadno is told he has gone to New Zealand
Eileen points out to her that DJ has gone to New Zealand, and Cadno cannot understand why he has gone, as she was relying on him.
"And left us in a real mess!"
Jim explains that he just packed his bags and passport, leaving them in a real mess.   “Eifion has been a great help – he has given up his job and is here full time.   Now the place is running like clockwork,” says Eileen.
"You should have discussed this with me!"
Cadno protests that this should have been discussed with her first, but she does not have the strength to argue.
"The cowboys have arrived at the saloon!"
Dai comes into the Deri and comments, “The cowboys have arrived at the saloon, have they?”   Mark reveals that the inspector is happy with the work so far, and Dai advises, “Building and drinking is not a good idea!”
“What are you going to do, then?” asks Mark, “Phone the Health and Safety?”
"He has done us a favour, really"
Debbie considers that Dai has done them a good turn, getting the work checked, but Mark wants nothing more to do with him.
That is not welcoming to the customer
Britt, with a sour look on her face, pulls a pint for Colin, and then Jason and Sara come in with their camping plans.
Sara outlines their camping plan
“How do you fancy a short break, sleeping out in the fields?   You could rent a tent or a warm sleeping bag.”
"That sounds romantic!"
Colin thinks this sounds romantic, but Britt has other ideas;
"You can keep yourself company!"
“If you want to sleep under a tree, you can keep yourself company!”
Jason then tries to sell the idea to Gaynor, but anticipates she is too posh for it.
"Are you going to provide someone to keep me warm?"
“You’d be surprised what I do in the back garden – if I get some peace and quiet!” Gaynor replies, “Are you going to provide someone to keep me warm?”
"That can be arranged!"
Jason is sure that something could be arranged, and she would not be disappointed;  then he is chided by Sara for flirting.
"That's the effect I have on women!"
“That’s just the effect I have on women!” he explains.
"The boys are being little angels"
Cadno rests on the sofa, and is pleased that the boys are being so good;  she asks if they have mentioned DJ.
"Forget about DJ!"
Eifion is quick to encourage her, “Forget about him – I doubt if he’ll be back any time soon!   It won’t take long for him to forget Dai, Penrhewl and you.   He always runs away to avoid responsibility – that’s why he left Ireland.”
"Did you make his life difficult?"
Cadno has her doubts;  “Did you put pressure on him?   Make life difficult, so he had no choice?”   Of course Eifion vehemently denies this, urging her to forget him and concentrate on getting better.
"DJ didn't choose me!"
She sighs, “He made his choice – and didn’t choose me!”
