18 August 2016

A wet morning in Cwmderi
Sioned crosses the road in the rain,
Ed appears to be skiving
notices Ed sitting in the café and walks on.
"It must be really embarrassing!"
Then Kelly enters the café, remarking to Gaynor, “I heard about the scandal – it must be really embarrassing for you!”
Gaynor is initially worried
Gaynor is concerned that her private life is in the public eye, but Kelly goes on, “Some of the parents will be up in arms – their kids failed their A-levels!”
"Disappointing results, not failure"
Gaynor is relieved, and answers, “They’re disappointing results, not a failure – several of the pupils did very well!”
Ffion stares fixedly . . .
Gethin tells Ffion, who is standing, looking worried, outside the garage, “I’d say this is a good result for you – your class’s results are excellent.   You look a step closer to being head of the Lifelong Learning School.”
. . . at the (small) inspection pit
She is not listening, as she looks down into the inspection pit;  “How can you work here, day after day, knowing what happened?   I feel sick just being here.   The school results mean nothing now!”
She tells Garry her suspicion . . .
Garry comes in, commenting sarcastically about Gethin working hard;  Ffion blurts out, “I saw him last night – in the trees at Penrhewl – he was there!”   Gethin tries to point out she was imagining it,
. . . and he takes it very seriously
but Garry takes the matter very seriously, asking why he was not told this immediately.
Colin is in a quandary . . .
At number 7, Colin looks thoughtfully at his phone,
. . . but Britt's number seems to have changed since Tuesday
finds Britt’s number, then hesitates.
Tyler and Iolo are home from the Registry Office
As they walk along the street, Iolo texts Kelly to tell her that they are going to the Deri;  when they enter number 7,
"All arranged for 15 September!"
they announce to Colin, “The wedding is all arranged for 15 September.”
Colin is unmoved
Colin continues looking depressed, and Iolo urges him to look a bit happier.
"A wedding is not much fun for a single bloke"
“A wedding is not much fun for a single bloke,” laments Colin, “I’ve hardly been out with anyone since Gaynor,” and when Tyler suggests he might meet someone at the wedding, he reacts, “I’m not into men!”
Tyler reassures him that he has plenty of straight women friends, but Colin grumbles, “Probably the same age as my daughter!
"I'm destined to be a bachelor"
I may as well accept it now – I’m destined to be a bachelor.”
Ed has just finished a tough shift and returns to the taxi office;
Sioned has bought a present . . .
Sioned has bought a present for the two of them, but Ed is less than pleased
. . . a replacement for the one she threw at Ed
when he sees that it is a replacement plate.   “I’d better go home for a few hours’ sleep,” he grunts, and Sioned asks for a kiss before he goes.   After a very peremptory peck on the cheek, he leaves.
"It has been a hard morning!"
When she meets Eifion outside the shop, Gaynor says she has had a hard morning, with the A-level results;
"I'll come and cheer you up"
he would like to cheer her up, so she invites him for lunch.   “You’ll have to excuse Sam’s mess!” she adds.
"People will start talking!"
Gethin joins them, commenting, “People will start talking!”   Eifion considers that they already are, and Gethin laughs as he recalls, “Sara’s face was a picture – blaming Jason for something he didn’t do!”   Eifion considers it unthinkable that Gaynor would be interested in Jason.
"I don't like people talking about me!"
Although Gaynor does not like the thought that people are talking about her, Eifion advises that she will have to get used to it, and they agree to meet at 1:30pm.
Colin is not entering into the spirit of the occasion
In the Deri, Tyler buys the drinks to celebrate the big day, but Colin sits morosely.   Kelly tells him, “We’re her to celebrate a wedding, not a funeral!   There’s not much time to rummage through my wardrobe – assuming I’m invited, and how about a stag party?”
"We were in London not long ago"
Iolo replies that they were in London not long ago, so that can count as a stag party, but Kelly is insistent that they must have a proper one.
"Everything will be pink!"
Tyler announces that Dani is their wedding planner.   Kelly finds this hilarious;  “Everything will be pink!   But then, maybe you want everything pink.”
"Because every gay man likes pink?"
Iolo takes exception to this;  “Because every gay man likes pink?”   When she tells him not to be so touchy, he is adamant, “I’m standing up for myself, not being touchy!”
Colin stares at his phone
Meanwhile, Colin is staring at his phone, oblivious of what is going on.
"Why did you buy that plate?"
When Sioned returns to the shop flat, Ed informs her, “I didn’t go to bed – too many things are going round in my head.   Why did you buy that plate, Sioned?”   She replies that the other one broke.
"Were you reminding me?"
“Are you sure you weren’t trying to remind me that you threw the plate at me?”
"How many more times?"
She is becoming angry;  “Why would I want to do that?   How many more times?   I lost my temper, threw the plate, no-one was hurt and that’s the end of it!   Why do you think I’ve been so upset?   I was pondering what could have happened.”
"You're pretending!"
Ed maintains she is pretending to be upset, thinking he will forgive her.   “I’m not listening to this!”
She loses her temper again
Sioned shouts, “You haven’t been working hard – I saw you in the café this morning.   Don’t you try to make a fool of me again!”   She struts out of the flat.
Ffion is peering out of the window when Gethin arrives back at Cysgod y Glyn;
"I'm going to the police!"
“I can’t carry on like this,” she says, “I’m frightened of my own shadow – that’s why I’m going to the police!”   Gethin is shocked.
Not the visitor Gaynor wanted to see
As Gaynor is preparing for Eifion’s arrival at Llwyncelyn, Colin turns up;  Gaynor tells him that his father is not there,
"It's you I want to see!"
but he wants to see her.   “There’s something very wrong!” he announces.
"You can't go to the police!"
Garry has been summoned to Cysgod y Glyn, where he stresses, “You can’t go to the police!   You’ve not listened to me, and you’ll put us all in danger!”
Gethin pleads with Ffion to listen to what Garry says,
"I can't live like this!"
but she insists, “I can’t live like this – I can’t sleep, knowing he’s watching my every move!”
"He was in Birmingham last night"
“He was not in Cwmderi last night!” states Garry, “He was in Birmingham, in a hotel in Broad Street.   I’ve got someone watching him.”   Ffion wants to know the name of the hotel so she can inform the police.
"If you open your mouth . . ."
“If you open your mouth, your nightmare will be just beginning!” he warns, “He has friends – and friends of friends – all on the loose, and ready to seek revenge on his behalf.   It won’t be only your own life you ruin, but Gethin, Arwen, me and the rest of my family.   I won’t let anyone do that!”   He leaves the flat.
Poor old Colin does not know what to do
Colin explains to Gaynor, who looks at her watch, “I think it’s all over – perhaps I should phone to be sure – but it might make matters worse – what would you do?
"Suddenly she didn't want to know!"
“Everything was great – we couldn’t get enough of each other – then suddenly she didn’t want to know.   She wants to be left alone – and then she went to Newcastle without telling me!   What am I supposed to do?”
Gaynor is becoming impatient and advises, “Man up, maybe?   Do something about it, rather than sitting here, moaning!”
Gaynor's 'date' arrives
Eifion arrives, and Colin looks surprised;  “Haven’t you heard?   The rest of Cwmderi is gossiping about us!” says Eifion.
"You two?   Together?"
“You two?   Together?   I think I’d better go!” Colin mutters, and makes a hasty exit,
They look amused
as they laugh.
"Why did you ask him to come?"
Ffion cannot understand why Gethin asked Garry to come over;  he replies, “He’s the only hope we have at the moment!”   She asks what hope does the family of that dead person have – mother, father or children somewhere?
"Our only choice is to obey Garry!"
“If anything happened to Daniel, you’d want to know about it!” she says.   Gethin explains that they have fallen into this world by accident, a world where people are dispensable.   The only choice they have is to obey Garry and keep quiet.
"I'm going to have a bath!"
“I’m going to have a bath,” Ffion says, “And here’s my phone, as you obviously don’t trust me!”
"Not another lecture!"
Sioned locates Ed in the Deri;  “This is where I thought you’d be.”   Ed does not want another lecture.   “Why do you think I’d do that?” she continues, “I’m concerned about you – you drink every time you have a problem!”
"A man's got to have some comfort!"
“A man’s got to have some comfort” Ed moans.
She hopes that it is not steroids he turns to next, as the last thing she wants is for him to make himself ill.
"I'd hate to be a young widow!"
“We’ve only just got married – I’d hate to be a young widow!” she tells him, before leaving for home.
"I heard the wedding's back on!"
Garry remarks to the celebrating group in the Deri, “I heard that the wedding was back on!”
"How about another bottle – on the house?"
When Kelly suggests he might like to donate a bottle for their celebration, he complains, “These two have sponged off me enough already.   Dani spent a fortune on you in London, and here you are, making a show of it, and expecting me to contribute even more!   I don’t know why you’re bothering – you’re only wasting Dani’s time.”
"Because we're gay, is it?"
Iolo’s anger is rising again;  “Because we’re gay, is it?   You’ve obviously got a problem with us getting married – because we’re two men!”
"You've had too much of this!"
Looking at a glass of wine, Garry concludes, “You’ve had too much of this – you’d better leave!   When Iolo has stormed out,
"He's getting to sound more like his father every day!"
Garry offers some advice to Tyler;  You’d better find a new boyfriend – he’s getting to sound more like his father every day!”
"I'm more of a lager man"
After moving some boxes, so he can sit down, Eifion advises Gaynor that, although the wine is pleasant, he is more of a lager man.   “That’s what’s nice about starting a relationship – getting to know each other.”
They get down to business
They embrace.
"I don't know how to help him"
Walking away from the Deri, Tyler tells Kelly, “I thought he was getting better, but now he thinks the world is against him and everyone is homophobic.   I don’t know how to help him.”
"He's a lot stronger than you think"
Kelly is of the opinion that Iolo has to face his demons and help himself.   He is a lot stronger than Tyler suspects.
At the bar, Ed wants another whisky.   “I think you’d better go home,” Garry tells him, but he points out that is the last place he wants to be.
"Honeymoon period over?"
“Don’t say the honeymoon period is over?” Garry enquires,
"This is your last one!"
assuring him that this whisky will be his last.
"Garry, I want the address in Newcastle!"
Colin arrives at the bar, demanding the address of Gloria and Neil in Newcastle;  “I’m going up there to see Britt and persuade her to give me another chance!”
"Neil has had a stroke"
Garry asks if he knows why Britt has gone to Newcastle;  “Neil has had a stroke, and is in hospital.   The last thing Britt needs is you, making a fool of yourself!   If you know what’s good for you, you’ll listen to me!”
"Things will make sense in the morning"
When Ffion returns from her bath, Gethin admits that the camping was a stupid idea;  he predicts that everything will make sense after a good night’s sleep.
"Neither you nor Garry can stop me!"
Ffion does not subscribe to this opinion;  “Neither you nor Garry can stop me going to the police!   You know as well as me that it’s the right thing to do – we could have witness protection – a new start with a clean slate!”
He stops her picking up the phone
As she reaches for her phone, Gethin stops her, and stresses, “We’re not going anywhere!”
