Britt is serving a customer in the chippy when Siôn enters, asking how she is;

she hands the cod and chips (£4.90) to the customer, and tells Siôn not to go round and see Chester, who has again refused to go to school.

Then Madge reports that there is no more fish in the freezer, much to Britt’s dismay.

| "A fish and chip shop without fish!" |
When she announces this to the customers, “But we have pies, sausages, fish cakes and pasties,” Dol is rather uncomplimentary about a fish and chip shop with no fish.

Sam asks where she gets her fish from, and offers to fetch a further supply; Britt writes the address

and says she will sort out the bill with Fred next week.

Chester is not very pleased when Siôn comes visiting

and offers him the box of chips. “I don’t want them – I’d rather starve!” he says, “What do you want? I haven’t changed my mind about therapy.”

Siôn replies, “I know you, and you can’t change that. You’d rather starve than eat chips that I paid for – you’d rather suffer as you are than show that your Mam and I are right. You’re a clever boy, throwing your future away just to annoy a man you say means nothing to you. This is about your future and the kind of person you’re going to be!”

“Well, I’m not going to be like you – I’m sure of that!” Chester tells him.

Siôn wishes he could turn the clock back, as there is a lot he regrets doing, but it is too late to do that. He urges Chester that he can change, so as not to turn out like him, Garry or his mother.

Siôn goes, leaving the chips behind.

Mark has been waiting to see Dani in the Deri; he wants to have a chat with her, but she is working tonight.

She agrees to go round to Maes-y-Deri tomorrow afternoon.

Sioned and Ed come into the Deri and order a meal from the new barmaid.

Sioned is amazed that they are sitting down for a meal together, and Ed comments, “I can’t remember the last time we smiled at each other.”

Mark arrives by their table, informing them, “I’ve persuaded Dani to come over after lunch tomorrow. It won’t be easy, but I hope to get the truth out of her – and tape her confession.”

Sioned points out that he has no evidence, and after he has gone, she tells Ed, “This is spiralling out of control!”

Dani goes to number 7 to see Iolo about a leaking tap, but Tyler tells her that he is about to go out, and suspects it is for a date. “I’m not jealous about it, but I don’t want him getting hurt after last time – and he’s being cagey about it.”

Iolo has come downstairs and heard this; “I can look after myself,” he assures Tyler, adding,

“Mind your own business!” He leaves the house; after a few seconds consideration, Tyler grabs his keys and follows, with Dani chasing behind.

Britt tempts Geraint with the special offer, “Two sausages for the price of one?”

but he is very dismissive and tells her to forget it.

Just then, Sam returns with the box of fish from ‘Fred’s Fish of Llanarthur’

which is welcomed by Madge, manning the fryer.
Sam tells Dol that his boat is finished and now in the harbour,

and she decides, “We could do with someone like you at Awyr Iach – you’d be an asset,” while she helps herself to the chips Britt has given him. He agrees that the money would be handy.

Iolo’s van arrives at a run-down building,

and Tyler’s car is not far behind.

“Is there anything going on between you?” asks Dani, and despite Tyler’s denials, she continues, “You’re going to a lot of effort for someone who means nothing – you like him, don’t you? It’s obvious!”

Tyler explains that he has been trying not to admit it to himself; “I was angry with him for telling everyone, and then he went on Volcano!” Dani urges him to go and tell him how he feels, but Tyler replies that he cannot just gatecrash.

She maintains there is only one way to find out, and she does not think he is on a date in there.

They walk in and find it is a gym;

As they attempt to make a hasty exit, they are spotted by Iolo; “What are you doing here?”

Dol explains to Sara how Sam would be an asset to Awyr Iach. Sara reminds her she is supposed to be at home with her feet up; “You know, backache!” Dol insists that the tablets are doing their job – at the moment.

Sara tells Sam to come to the house in half an hour for a chat.

Sioned is becoming agitated; She tells Ed, “We’ll have to think of another story. Your lies got us into this in the first place!

“I can’t do this any more – I can’t relax, I can’t sleep – it’s all I think about!” Ed answers that blaming someone else will not help.

“Once Mark realises it’s not Dani, what if he comes after me? Dani was a good friend, too!” panics Sioned, then suddenly stops.

“Angela!” she exclaims,

and when Ed strongly objects to this, demands, “Do you have a better idea?”

Iolo is irate that they have followed him after he told them not to; “I thought you were meeting someone else, and wanted to make sure you were safe,” blurts out Tyler. Kelly wants to know what could happen in a gym with her.

“You only broke ribs a few weeks ago – this is not the way to deal with the attack!” insists Tyler, but Iolo is adamant that he does not need a bodyguard, and that they should go home.
Dani remarks about, “Taking self-defence lessons from Kelly!”

and Kelly objects to her ‘taking the mick’. She also advises that the two boys need to talk,

but Iolo stresses he has nothing to say.

Sam goes on about his years at sea and his hobby of fishing, and when asked by Sara about anything relevant to Awyr Iach, he adds that he can repair anything, makes a good cup of tea and bakes cakes. He would welcome the opportunity to drive the van and make deliveries,

Sam finds Dol in the Deri and advises he has got the job, but they will not see much of each other as he will be out, making deliveries.

This pleases Dol as she has bought a dress off the internet for a fiver and has to collect it from Carmarthen on Thursday

Chester comes in and surprises Britt with, “Have you cancelled the therapy? Don’t, because I’m willing to go, not that I’m sure what one session will do – and I don’t want anyone to know – I’m not soft in the head!”
Siôn has just arrived, so Britt announces the news to him;

“Oh, you took notice of what I said, then?” Britt looks rather disconcerted as Siôn adds, “You’ve taken a big step forward!”

Iolo comes out of the gym and tries to ignore Tyler, who is waiting, having sent Kelly and Dani home. Tyler admits to his jealousy,

but Iolo points out he had his chance some time ago. Tyler insists, “I was really, really jealous – I want you!

Sioned has worked out all the details; “We could say she was an escort, she killed Dewi and planted the phone. I’ll say that she made me promise not to tell anyone for Courtney’s sake!”

Ed replies that the whole idea is nuts, and that whatever Angela may have done, this is not fair.

“So you choose her over me?” rages Sioned, “You’d rather see me in prison than accuse her?”

Ed tells her, “I don’t want anyone to go to prison for something I did! I deserve punishment – no-one else! I have no choice – I have to tell the truth.

She shouts, “Then Mark will go to the police, and you’ll go to prison! Do you hear me? We discussed this and decided what to do.”
“No! You decided – and things have gone from bad to worse!” Ed accuses her, “I have a duty to do what is right!” ![]() |
