24 May 2016

"You haven't seen my purse, have you?"
Dani comes into the café, looking for her purse, which she thought she left there yesterday;
"Look down the back of the sofa!"
Debbie has not seen it, and suggests, “Look in the car and down the back of the sofa.   Once I found a £10 gift voucher down the sofa – it was like Christmas!”   Dani wonders if the thief who stole from Anita’s and Bryntirion has struck again.
Siôn needs a Bardic name . . .
Siôn is thinking of possible Bardic names for himself,
. . . but Gwyneth does not think this is it
but Gwyneth is unimpressed with ‘Siôn Sir Gar’, (which Google Translate renders as Siôn county car.)
Siôn is to host a 'small event'
“I’m going to arrange a party to celebrate being honoured by the Gorsedd,” he says, “I want to host a small event at the Bardic Stones in Llanalun Parc on Friday.
"There's a lot to do before Friday!"
I’ve left a message, inviting the Chief Bard, Tudur Dylan, to say a few words.   I shall invite Britt, to show I have nothing to hide.”   Gwyneth replies that it is a lot to organise before Friday.
In the Deri, Dani describes the missing purse to Kelly and Iolo;  “It’s creamy pink, with a flower on it.”
"How's the new romance going?"
Retiring to a table, Kelly asks how the new romance is going, and advises Iolo, “I’ve got loads of names for the boxing tournament – Eifion, DJ, Dai – and Colin!”
"Colin?"
Iolo is rather surprised by this last name, but Kelly tells him that Colin reckons he is fast in the ring, floats like a butterfly and stings like a bee.   “I’m going to ask Ed and Gethin,” she adds,
"Haven't you forgotten someone?"
and Iolo points out that she has forgotten someone.   “Oh yes, I’ll put your name down!” she assures him.
"Cwmderi's answer to Muhammud Ali!"
Iolo warns, “I won’t fight Colin, though!” who Kelly describes as Cwmderi’s answer to Muhammud Ali.
Siôn was not impressed by Britt's performance
Siôn sees Britt in the street and informs her he was disappointed with what happened last Friday, emphasising, “That money business is all in the past.”
Colin does not look friendly
As Colin approaches, Siôn tells them of his plans for a party to which they are invited;  “To show I don’t bear a grudge,” he boasts.   Both Britt and Colin hurry away.
"I was club champion"
As they walk along the street, Tyler tells Kelly that he was a champion boxer at the Gorswen Club, so she will put down his name.
Siôn's ears are flapping
She comments, “I hear things are going well between you and Iolo – apparently you’re having fun!”
"I haven't been told about that!"
Siôn has been lurking in the doorway of the chippy, and heard this exchange.
Ricky is given a sandwich by his mother in the café, as the school ran out of chips and he had to have salad;
"No – I have not been stealing!"
she asks him, “Be honest – have you been stealing again?”   He protests his innocence, and
"What are you doing with Dani's purse?"
then Debbie sees the missing purse on the table where Catrin and Saeed are sitting.   “Hey, what are you doing with Dani’s purse?” she demands.
"You're coming with me, boy!"
Saeed explains that he found it and is taking it back to her, but Debbie hauls him to his feet and drags him off to the Deri.   He reassures Catrin that he has nothing to hide.
"Doesn't it make you angry?"
Colin goes home with Britt;  “Doesn’t it make you angry, him talking to you like that?   He cheated the community, not you!” he demands, but she replies that she is used to it.   “You should report it to the police!” he argues,
"You promised not to mention it again"
but she reminds him he promised not to mention it again.   He says he will collect her for the quiz at 6:00pm.
"Knowing my luck, Siôn will be there!"
“Knowing my luck, I expect Siôn will be there!” she moans, but Colin says it will make no difference if he is.
"He stole it!"
Debbie pushes the purse across the bar, alleging that Saeed stole it, but he explains, “I found it last night after Cwm Delhi closed – I was clearing up.”
"Of course – I got a takeaway last night!"
“Yes, I remember now,” realises Dani, “I got a takeaway in there last night!”   Debbie insists that she should check to see if anything is missing, but Dani considers it disgusting that she should accuse Saeed of stealing.
"We're waiting for a little word, aren't we?"
“We’re waiting for a little word now, aren’t we?” Dani prompts her, and Debbie is forced to say sorry.   Dani rewards Saeed for his honesty, and requires that Debbie has to be the quizmaster tonight.
"There's a lot of names there"
“You’ve got a lot of names there,” observes Gwyneth, “We shall need a buffet – I’ll get Debbie to organise something.”
"Did you know Iolo and Tyler were an item?"
Siôn enquires, “Did you know that Iolo and Tyler were an item?   Why hasn’t he told me?   I saw him at the weekend and he didn’t mention it.”
"It's his life, Siôn"
Gwyneth ask why should he, as it is his life.
Then Siôn’s phone rings;  it is Tudur Dylan, whom Siôn met at college.
"Oh, you can come!"
Siôn is amazed that he will be coming to the party.   After ending the call, Siôn remarks to Gwyneth, “Ask and ye shall receive!   I’m telling you, it’s all going our way.”
"We'd better go to the quiz, then"
She concludes they ought to go to the quiz in that case, although he is reluctant.
"I'll get Debbie to feed the five thousand"
She will also phone Debbie and get her to ‘feed the five thousand’.
"Why are you wearing Iolo's clothes?"
Colin asks Tyler why he is wearing Iolo’s clothes;  “All mine are dirty,” is the reply, “We share the same bed, so surely we can share the same shirts!”   He also comments that he has heard that Colin will be boxing,
"Yes, I have a good left hook!"
and Colin confirms that he has a good left hook.   He is rather put out by Tyler’s remark, “You have to be fit for boxing!”
"Britt was in a right state!"
Iolo tells Colin, “Britt really needs help – she was in a right state on Friday night.   It’s lucky that Dad is a fair person – most people would have gone to the police.”
"We'd better go for a run"
After Colin has gone, Iolo suggests to Tyler that they should go running, to improve fitness before the boxing.
"Are you ready, then?"
Britt makes excuses to Colin for not going to the quiz, but he insist that she is going with him.
"Everyone thinks I've lost my marbles!"
“Everyone thinks I’ve lost my marbles!” she wails,
"You shouldn't be cooped up here – like a hamster"
but he is adamant that she should not be hiding in the flat – like a hamster.  She goes to have a shower;
He dials 101
Colin gets out his phone, and is about to ring 101.
Debbie informs Dani that she has not prepared enough questions.   Tyler lets Dani know that he will not be boxing after all;  “What if they put me against Iolo?”
"You think this one?"
She wants him to choose which outfit she should wear tonight, and he selects the pink one.   “Iron it for me, while I do my makeup,” she instructs.
"I knew I'd done the right thing, talking to you!"
Colin is speaking on the phone, “Thanks very much – I knew I’d done the right thing, talking to you!”
"Let's go, before I change my mind"
Britt come back in and wants to leave, before she changes her mind.
The Deri is a hive of activity
The Deri is busy with quiz participants;  when Britt sees Siôn and Gwyneth there, Colin tells her to ignore them.
"Take my name off the list"
Tyler finds Kelly and gets her to remove his name from the boxing tournament list.
"I heard you were dating"
Siôn goes over to speak to Iolo and Tyler;  I heard you were dating, and wanted you to know I’m pleased for you.   You’ll have to come for dinner at Y Felin soon.
"I'm going to thrash you in the quiz!"
By the way, I’m going to thrash you in the quiz!”
"I almost phoned the police"
Britt is shocked when she learns from Colin that he almost phoned the police earlier;  “But I ended up calling the Samaritans.   That man makes my blood boil!”
"Going to give us a replay of last Friday?"
Debbie asks if they are going to get a replay of last Friday, so Britt has had enough and quickly leaves, followed by Colin.
"And the first question is . . ."
The quiz begins with  round on capital cities.
"We have to go to the police"
Back at Britt’s flat, Colin recalls, “As I talked to the woman on the phone, it made sense – we have to go to the police.   Siôn deserves to be punished!”
"He is being punished"
Britt’s answer is, “He is being punished – I know him – it’s on his conscience, eating him alive!   If we phone the police, Siôn won’t be the only one in trouble – I’ve known about the money for a long time.   They could arrest me for withholding evidence or perverting the course of justice.
"Don't take this any further!"
“No, Colin, don’t take this any further – for the children’s sake!”
"You're good for me, you know!"
After the quiz, Siôn and Gwyneth arrive home triumphant;  Siôn is glad that Britt left when she did, and tells Gwyneth, “You’re good for me, you know!   You knocked some sense into my head the other day.”
She replies, “I thought God did that!” then after a pause, comes up with a title for Siôn.
"Siôn o'r Cwm" (Siôn of the Valley)
Siôn o’r Cwm – what do you think of that?”
"That's perfect!"
He describes it as perfect,
They kiss, and then . . .
kisses her and then they head upstairs.
Colin makes Britt tea, and says, “You’re a strong woman – and moral as well.
"I would wreak havoc, chaos and destruction!"
If it were up to me, I’d go to this party on Friday to wreak havoc, chaos and destruction!   I’d throw sandwiches and sausage rolls at Siôn as he delivered his silly speech!”
"I want to prove I'm perfectly sane"
Britt does not want to cause another commotion;  “I want to prove to people in Cwmderi that I’m perfectly sane.
"Let's make him sweat!"
“But there’s nothing wrong with making him sweat before his big day!   Get him all hot under the collar for nothing – what do you say?”
"Sounds good to me!"
As she offers him a biscuit, Colin seems to relish the idea.
