Britt is at the school to see Gaynor, who informs her that the governors are meeting next Thursday at 3:00pm,

and they would like her to be there, to discuss the implications. “So he’s going to be expelled then?” assumes Britt.

| "I shall have to tell the police" |
Gaynor explains that it will be a joint decision, after weighing up the pros and cons. “This is a serious situation, and I shall have to tell the police that Chester was lying – I am only following guidelines.”

| A moment of calm, before Britt explodes again |
Britt loses her temper and snarls, “You’ve ruined his future just like that! How do you sleep at night after writing off a young life?”

| "What was that all about?" |
She dashes out of the door, colliding with Tyler and shouting, “Watch where you’re going!”

| "I forgot to set the timer!" |
Gwyneth is upset at having burned the cakes for the farewell party tonight,

| "I'll go and get something from the café" |
but Siôn calms her; “I shall go and ask Debbie for something from the café – I want to go and visit Iolo before the party – I haven’t heard from him.”

| "My mind is all over the place!" |
Gwyneth apologises, as her mind is all over the place since Garry refused to let Gwern go with them to Newport. “If I can’t reason with him, we won’t be able to move – we’ll have to stay in this dump for ever!”

| "He might change his mind in a couple of days" |
When Siôn maintains that Garry might change his mind in a couple of days, she protests, “This is Garry we’re talking about – not a reasonable person!”

Siôn recommends that she relax, with a warm bath and candles, and should not let Garry control her feelings.

| "I've just heard about the 'showdown'!" |
At school, Tyler tells Ffion about the ‘showdown’ between Gaynor and Britt; “She is going to tell the police that Chester lied – are you going to press charges for slander?”

| "I've got every right!" |
Ffion insists that she has every right to get some form of justice; “What if the sneak sways the panel into letting him stay here?” Tyler points out that he is only a young boy; “And he’s the victim, is he?” she demands.
Tyler adds that it could ruin his life – and Britt’s, but Ffion maintains he should have thought of that.

Tyler simply urges her, “Do it for the right reasons, not just for revenge.”

Sheryl sneaks up on Hywel in the café as he is compiling a CD of Siôn’s ‘best bits’ on CwmFM; “That must be a short CD!” she comments.

| She has a call from 'a client' (who does not speak Welsh) |
Her phone rings and she answers in English; “I can’t talk at the moment, but I’ll get back to you.” When he asks, she tells him it was a client.
The laptop is hurriedly closed when Siôn walks in,

and tells Debbie, “It’s a bit of an emergency – we’ve had an accident in the kitchen. Can you help us out?” She is not keen until he mentions, “Name your price!”

then invites him into the café kitchen.

| "I'm not going to the party!" |
At number 7, Iolo, wearing his rubber gloves, is busy cleaning when Tyler comes home; “I’m not going to the party tonight – how can I, looking like this?” Iolo says. There is a knock at the door, and Iolo rapidly retires to the kitchen;

Tyler lets in Siôn, who is horrified to see the state of Iolo.

| He come sout with the old 'falling toolbox' story |
“The toolbox fell on me!” is the unconvincing explanation, “I can’t come tonight – everyone will stare at me!” Tyler suggests he could use some concealer, and Siôn concludes in that case, Iolo will be there.
When Siôn has gone, Tyler advises Iolo, “If you don’t go, he’ll think there’s more to this.”

Gwyneth tries some yoga to help her relax,

| She rings Garry's number . . . |
then summons up the courage to ring Garry again; he is outside the garage,

| . . . but he is not interested |
and when he sees the name on his phone’s screen, he rejects the call. Then he sees Britt, and shouts to her.

| "You've ruined everything!" |
She is absolutely furious with him, growling, “You’ve ruined everything! I have to find a new school for Chester – and she’s told the police.”

| Britt gets physical |
As she continues, she hits Garry several times, but he does not retaliate; “If you’d been a good uncle, this wouldn’t have happened!”
He replies that it was worth the risk, but she shouts, “Was it worth punching Chester?”

As he protests that he did not, she walks away round the corner, kicking the flat door as she passes.

| Debbie has brought the cakes |
Siôn arrives home with Debbie, who has brought a selection of cakes. “I’ve asked her to stay for the party, as she’s been so helpful,” he tells Gwyneth,

“I’ve seen Iolo and know why he’s been avoiding me – he had an accident at work – his face is a bit of a mess.”

| "Don't worry, we'll get Chester out of this" |
Britt hides by the alley and Garry asks if she is all right, insisting that they will find a way to get Chester out of this mess.

She grumbles, “Siôn would know what to do – but he’s celebrating with his fancy friends. I never belonged, and was a fool to think I did. Be honest – you and me – we’re not like everyone else, are we? Siôn is better off without me, without Chester, without the Monks!

At the party, Iolo is concerned that everyone is looking at him.

Siôn tells the gathering that the last few months have been very difficult, and if it were not for Gwyneth’s love and support he does not know where he would be.

When there is a knock at the door, Hywel suspects, “Probably Megan, come to wish you well!”

However, it is Garry who tells Gwyneth, “Sorry to interrupt, but we need to talk.”

In the Deri, Britt apologises to Tyler, who replies,

“My life has not been easy either– I know what it’s like to be on the outside. It’s not that I excuse what he did, but everyone deserves a second chance.”

Garry tells Gwyneth, “What you said yesterday – you’re right! We have to do what’s best for Gwern, and I’m willing to compromise.” This comes as a shock to her, but he continues,

“I’m not playing games – this is serious. Gwern lives with me for the rest of the term, comes to you in the summer, so he can settle in and make friends before starting at the new school. We can sort something out for the autumn.”

Gaynor remarks to Ffion, “He’s looking at me – I hope he’s not going to come over to talk about Chester. Britt is bad enough!”

Debbie, who is rather unsteady on her feet, enquires about Iolo’s injuries,

so he decides to return home.

As Debbie peers at a bottle, she almost falls over; “Someone has had more than enough,” says Hywel.

Iolo arrives home in a bad mood,

| . . . and then he sees Tyler using his mug |
which is not helped when he sees that Tyler is using his mug. He goes to snatch it, but Tyler objects, and in the ensuing struggle, the mug is smashed on the floor.

Iolo sinks to his knees in tears.

| "What's the matter with you?" |
“Don’t have a hissy fit! I’ll buy another one,” says Tyler, “It’s only a cup – what’s the matter with you?” Iolo sobs piteously.

| That English-speaking 'client' phones again |
Sheryl has another phone call, again answering in English; “Sorry, I’m at a party, but I can talk.” When she has finished, Hywel remarks that this ‘client’ is troublesome and asks who it is. “You don’t know her,” is the reply,

| "I get the feeling you're keeping secrets from me!" |
and he suspects she is keeping secrets from him.
“I’m finding it difficult to settle back into everyday life – that’s all,” she explains.

| "Don't interfere!" |
Garry does approach Gaynor, as expected; “I know you’re his uncle, but don’t interfere!” she tells him, and leaves for home. He follows her out.

| "I'm worried about Iolo" |
Siôn worries that accident has taken its toll on Iolo; “There’s more to it than he admits,” he tells Gwyneth.

| It must have been a good party, then |
Then he looks across at Debbie; “It wasn’t supposed to be that kind of party,” he smiles.

| Garry comes clean about his involvement |
Garry follows Gaynor into Llwyncelyn and announces, “Chester actually wanted to confess he lied – weeks ago, before the panel.

| "I can be very persuasive!" |
“I told him not to admit it. I can be very persuasive!”
Gaynor tells him that the decision is now out of her hands,

| "Explain to the governors that I forced him" |
but Garry asks, “Will you just explain to the governors that I forced Chester to carry on lying?”

| "Regardless of who gets hurt along the way" |
Gaynor agrees to do that, but comments, “I think you’ll do anything to save a member of your family, regardless of who gets hurt along the way!”
Garry insists that he had his reasons, and it still plays on his conscience.

| "I'll make sure they know your part in this" |
Gaynor makes sure he is in no doubt; “I had to tell the police – but I’ll make sure they know your part in this!”
