Mark prepares to record the evidence
Mark sets his mobile phone as a voice recorder;  when Ed comes to see him,
"Should put it over there?"
Mark asks about the best place to position it.   “Sit down, this is important,” says Ed,
"You're making a fool of yourself"
“Don’t do this to Dani – you’re making a fool of yourself.   You’ve got it into your head that Dani killed Dewi, but you’ve got no evidence.”   Mark replies that is why she is coming round there, he hopes to get her to confess.
Ed urges him to forget it;
"Forget about being falsely accused and locked up?"
“Forget being falsely accused and locked up?” demands Mark, “Why are you interfering?”   Ed assures him that sometimes in life things happen that you least expect,
"I know Dani did not do it!"
and that he knows Dani did not do it.
"Well, you must know who did!"
Mark replies logically, “If you know she didn’t do it, you must know who did!   If you knew, you would have told me, wouldn’t you?”   When Ed agrees with this, he continues, “Right, so you don’t know whether Dani is guilty or not.”
"No more false accusations"
Ed insists that the last thing he wants is for another person to be falsely accused, and when Mark stresses how important this matter is to him, Ed adds, “I understand that more than you think!”
"With any luck, I'll get the truth today!"
Mark is confident that with any luck, he will learn the truth today, and as Dani is due any minute, he asks Ed to leave.
Britt signs the petition
Catrin and Saeed are collecting signatures on a petition against the school closure, and Britt willingly adds hers.
Stacey the cyclist
Stacey cycles along the street to where Hywel is waiting outside the Deri;  “I haven’t been on a bike for ages,” she admits.
"Doesn't look as if anyone is coming"
It appears that no-one else is going to join them, so Hywel suggests they adjourn into the Deri, telling Stacey to get the drinks while he locks up the bikes.
"I'm not your wife now!"
She replies, “Don’t boss me around – I’m not your wife now!”
Ed returns to Sioned, where she hugs him;
"I'm useless, Sioned!"
he admits, “I didn’t tell Mark  – I’m useless, Sioned!”
"You've done the right thing!"
She assures him that he has done the right thing;  if he had told the truth, Mark would phone the police and Ed would be in prison – and that is not what they want.
As she finds paper and an envelope,
She prepares to write 'the Angela story'
Sioned resolves, “We shall have to use the story about Angela – we’re desperate.   If we don’t do something, this is going to drag on for ever!   This is the best idea, and he’s more likely to believe it if it’s in black and white.”
"I've been wanting to catch up for ages"
Dani arrives at Maes-y-Deri with a bottle;  “I’ve been wanting to catch up for ages,” she tells Mark and pours two glasses of wine.   “It’s a lot of work in the Deri, but I’m happy.”
"Thoughts going round and round"
He recalls how he lies awake in bed, with thoughts going round and round in his head.
"The murderer is still out there"
Dani sympathises, “You’ve been through a tough time, knowing that the murderer is still out there – perhaps he may do it again, or already has!”
He looks carefully for any sign of guilt
Mark replies, “He – or she – must be plagued by a guilty conscience.   That keeps them awake, I bet!   I want them to get what they deserve.
"You could help me catch them"
I was thinking you could help me catch whoever did it – the two of us could do it, I’m sure.”   Dani has been trying to figure it out, but without success.
"Do you know who killed Dewi?"
“I think you know more than you’re willing to admit – do you know who killed Dewi?” Mark demands, and Dani assumes he is joking.   “Do I look as if I’m joking?” he asks, and she had better leave.
Mark blocks her escape route
He blocks the doorway, commenting, “No – I think it’s better that you stay!”
"It's nice to have a sensible chat"
In the Deri, Stacey tells Hywel that it is nice to have a sensible chat;  “All I do at home is argue with Dol.”   He wonders how she can live with Dol, then Stacey asks him if he has heard from Sheryl.
Hywel appears to have written off Sheryl
He ruefully reports that he has tried to call her, but she does not answer;  “After all we’ve been through, you’d think I deserved a call or an e-mail – but nothing.   It shows how much I mean to her.”
"Might as well cancel the bike ride"
Depressed, he intends to cancel the bike ride, as no-one seems to be interested.
Stacey signs the petition
Catrin and Saeed arrive, seeking more signatures, and as Stacey signs it, Hywel gets up, knocking a drink over the petition
"Where were you on 15 January?"
Mark demands where Dani was on 15 January, and after consulting the calendar on her phone, she tells him that was when she was away.   He insists she could have come back to Cwmderi;
"A blonde woman planted the phone!"
“A blonde woman was here, planting Dewi’s phone!” he says, but Dani points out there are lots of blonde women.
"It's nothing to do with me!"
“I didn’t plant the phone – it’s nothing to do with me!” she asserts, but he is adamant that she knows the house – indeed she even lived there, and she knows when he comes and goes.
"You and Garry killed Dewi, didn't you?"
He continues to accuse her, “You and Garry killed Dewi, didn’t you?   You killed a man and let your best friend take the flak!   Prove where you were that night, and stop telling lies!   You pretended to be a friend all these years, and after everything I’ve done for you, this is the thanks I get!   You planned it all – just tell the truth!”
"I'm phoning Garry!"
Dani is frightened;  “You’re so wrong about this!   I’m phoning Garry!   Mark, you’re scaring me!”
A struggle ensues . . .
He warns her not to do so, then rushes across the room to try and wrest the phone from her hand.
. . . and it is fortunate that Sioned arrives . . .
As they tussle noisily, Sioned happens to be approaching the house, the letter in her hand.
. . . in time to break things up
She bursts in and pulls Mark away from Dani;  he throws the phone to the floor.   “What’s wrong with you?” screams Dani,
"You're supposed to be my friend!"
“He thinks I killed Dani – I told everyone you were innocent, and this is all the thanks I get!   You’re supposed to be my friend!”
As Sioned picks up and reassembles the phone, Mark makes an apology, but Dani insists, “Don’t come near me ever again!” and rushes out.
"What's happening to me?"
Mark sinks to the floor, demanding, “What’s happening to me?   I’m going totally doolally!   I can’t switch this off – Dewi’s killer is in my head all the time!   The fact that he is out there, laughing at me, is driving me bonkers!   I don’t know what to do!”
"You have to forget about Dewi"
Sioned, sitting beside him, says soothingly, “I knew you were hoping to get closure, but you have to forget all about Dewi, for your sake and everyone else’s.   You weren’t thinking straight, or you wouldn’t have done what you did.”
"I just want my life back!"
He simply pleads that he wants his life back.
“You just have to accept you’ll never find out who did it, and move on,” advises Sioned, “You didn’t kill him – be grateful for that!”   Mark doubts that Dani will ever forgive him.
"This is the end of it, isn't it?"
“When you explain, I’m sure she will,” Sioned tells him, “This is the end of it now, isn’t it, Mark?   No more suspicion, no more accusations.”
Sioned leaves him . . .
As he is calmer now, Sioned leaves, and once outside the door,
. . . and the 'involve Angela' plan . . .
tears up the letter,
. . . is consigned to the bin
disposing of it in the green bin.
That petition is in rather a mess
The petition is in a sorry state, but they will attempt to collect more signatures after school tomorrow.
"What is the point of waiting?"
Hywel returns and tells Stacey he has been thinking that perhaps Sheryl will not come back, and wondering what is the point of waiting.
Hywel prepares to move on to his next woman
“Fancy a meal here tonight – about six?”   Stacey thinks this a good idea.
Dani tries to recover from the shock . . .
Dani is sitting alone in the Deri flat when Mark walks in and scares her;
. . . when she is faced with Mark again
she tells him she does not want him there.
"What can I do to say I'm sorry?"
He tells her, “I’m sorry, I don’t know what came over me.   What can I do to say I’m sorry?   You’re one of my best friends!   I’m going to stop searching for the killer!”
"Stay out of my way!"
Dani is adamant she does not care what he does with his life, as long as he stays out of her way.
"He's realised he has to let things go"
Sion informs Ed that she has sorted it out with Mark;  “I think he’s going to let it go – he scared himself today!   Dani was there and he went crazy – it was lucky I was there.   He has realised he has to let things go.”
"He may say that today, but . . ."
Ed suspects that Mark may change his mind, but Sioned tries to persuade him,
"We're free, Ed!"
“He’s serious – I think we’ve heard the last of Dewi.   We can start sleeping at night – we’re free, Ed!”
"No – we just haven't been caught yet!"
He is far from convinced;  “We’re not free – we just haven’t been caught yet!”
