| The villagers are demonstrating (has Madge brought her husband?) |
As the protestors gather outside Awyr Iach, Sheryl announces through her loudhailer, “This is an official picket line – all Awyr Iach workers are on strike!”
![]() |
| They are all in good voice |
She insists that Dol will be supporting the protest, and the crowd cheers enthusiastically
![]() |
| "Going to hit me like you did on Sunday?" |
At school, Chester meets his former mates; “What do you want?” he demands, “To hit me like you did on Sunday?” They taunt him, asking what he will do; will he tell Ffion?
![]() |
| "I'd like a word, Chester" |
Tyler breaks up the confrontation and tells Chester he wants a word with him.
The jeers erupt as Jason and Sara approach;
![]() |
| Sara becomes confrontational |
Sara warns Sheryl to get out of the way or she will call the police. “They are already aware – this is an official picket line!” Sheryl tells her.
![]() |
| "If you want a job, you'd better get in there!" |
When Dol arrives, she is told by Sara that if she wants a job, she had better go inside.
![]() |
| Kelly will get this in the Western Post tomorrow |
Kelly is taking notes, and Sheryl informs her, “This strike will succeed, and Awyr Iach will change their policy on exploiting third world children.”
![]() |
| "Telcaro is not welcome here!" |
Raising her loudhailer, she shouts, “Telcaro is not welcome here!”
![]() |
| "You're on your own a lot lately" |
“I’ve noticed you’re on your own a lot lately,” Tyler tells Chester, “And other teachers have noticed. There’s an anti-bullying policy at this school.” Chester just wants to get away, but Tyler continues, “Groups who were once friends of yours now ignore, verbally abuse or hit you.”
![]() |
| "I'm just fed up with it" |
“I’m just fed up with it,” Chester replies, “It started after that business with Mrs Llywelyn – they think I lied.”
Tyler enquires why they would think that;
![]() |
| "Or are you the victim?" |
“You are the victim here – aren’t you?” and as Chester stand silently, he adds, “Ffion didn’t do anything to you – did she?” Chester runs away.
![]() |
| Gaynor and Ffion appear . . . |
Gaynor and Ffion come round the corner at this opportune moment, and Tyler advises them,
![]() |
| . . . and are told that Chester virtually confessed |
“Chester more or less confessed – he made it all up.”
![]() |
| Iolo's OCD appears to be resurfacing |
Iolo obsessively washes his hands, then disinfects them.
![]() |
| "Mr Davies is telling the truth, isn't he?" |
Gaynor is at Britt’s flat and questions Chester; “Mr Davies said you confessed – why can’t you do that now?” Chester denies that he said anything; Gaynor presses the point, “But you didn’t deny it, did you? Mr Davies is telling the truth, isn’t he? It was all a lie.”
![]() |
| Chester nods, shamefully . . . |
He nods almost imperceptibly,
![]() |
| . . . and Britt considers the repercussions |
and Britt looks very sheepish, as Gaynor says she will allow them to talk, and will come back later.
Britt demands why Chester did such a thing;
![]() |
| "It's not that simple" |
“It’s not that simple,” he answers,
![]() |
| He makes an attempt to drag Garry down with him |
and shows her the bruises on his arm, explaining, “Uncle Garry did that last week when he forced me to go to school – he’s behind this!”
![]() |
| Lunchtime at number 7 |
As chanting can be heard outside, Tyler and Iolo eat their lunch; there is a knock at the door, and Tyler insists that Iolo should answer it.
![]() |
| Iolo does not appreciate Kelly's attempt to hug him |
Kelly comes in and tries to hug Iolo, but is rebuffed. “Where have you been, stranger?
![]() |
| "What happened to your eye?" |
“What happened to your eye?” she asks.
She is not taken in by the explanation that his toolbox fell on it, sees that they are having lunch, so promises to come back later; Iolo replies that he will be working later.
![]() |
| "Why did you hit Chester?" |
As expected, Britt hurries to confront Garry; “Why did you hit Chester?” she demands. Garry tells her that he did not, but simply grabbed his collar and dragged him to school.
![]() |
| Dani considers it is time to end this |
Dani has had enough of this whole affair, and puts Britt in the picture; “Garry insisted that he stick to his side of the story!”
![]() |
| "I was trying to protect you" |
Garry then points out that it was in order to protect Britt from a slander accusation from Ffion.
![]() |
| "Now I know how he did it!" |
Deflated, Britt complains, “I’ve been telling everyone for weeks my son was innocent – I knew a young boy could never carry on with a lie this serious for so long. Now I know how he did it! You should both be ashamed of yourselves!”
![]() |
| "Sorry, Miss" |
Gaynor returns, and Britt encourages Chester to tell her he is sorry. Britt promises she will make sure he says the same to Ffion later,
![]() |
| "You may be expelled" |
and Gaynor emphasises, “I want you to realise you have hurt a lot of people by your actions – it is possible that you will be expelled!”
After she has gone, Chester whines, “I’m sorry, Mam!”
![]() |
| "You will be sorry – believe me!" |
Britt assures him that he certainly will be.
![]() |
| Sheryl predicts the protest will continue |
Sheryl is adamant that the picket will continue until Awyr Iach severs its links with Telcaro.
![]() |
| Sara's version of public relations |
Sara comes out, and when asked for a statement about Telcaro, replies, “Get out of my way and get stuffed!”
![]() |
| "Britt and Chester are coming to see me!" |
Outside the café, Ffion tells Tyler that Britt and Chester are coming to see her, and she is not looking forward to it.
![]() |
| "Why did you want to see me?" |
Tyler is on his way to the Deri, where he has been summoned by Kelly. She wants to know what is going on with Iolo;
![]() |
| "You're going to tell me!" |
“You’re going to tell me whether you like it or not!” she threatens.
Tyler obliges; “He was beaten up in Swansea on Tuesday night by a gang of homophobes – they’ve done the same to a few others – and was kept in hospital overnight. If you think he looks bad, you should have seen him last week, but he doesn’t want anyone to know.”
![]() |
| Kelly thanks him for the information |
Kelly is very appreciative that he has told her.
![]() |
| What an unconvincing apology! |
At Cysgod y Glyn, Chester makes a very half-hearted apology to Ffion, and his mother orders him to do it again, “And look at her when you say it this time!”
![]() |
| "You were to blame!" |
He obediently does so, but cannot resist adding, “You were to blame for letting me come here on my own!”
![]() |
| "Are you saying this is my fault?" |
Ffion is predictably enraged by this; “Are you saying this is my fault? You have no idea of the hell I’ve been through – sleepless nights, terrible police questioning, people thinking I’m guilty.
![]() |
| "I was only doing my best for you!" |
“If you hadn’t confessed, I would have been forced to live with this the rest of my life. I was only doing my best for you, and you throw it back in my face.
![]() |
| "I'm taking this to court!" |
“It’s only fair that he pays the price – only it won’t be him paying, but you, Britt! I’m taking him to court for slander – he has to realise what he’s done!” Britt pleads with her not to take this course, but Ffion is adamant, “I’ve made up my mind!”
![]() |
| The CnocCnoc comments are a PR disaster |
As Sara looks at the scathing comments posted on CnocCnoc, Jason describes the whole sorry affair as, “A PR disaster! A wise course of action would be to issue a statement that we have severed all ties with Telcaro.
![]() |
| Jason tries to make her see sense |
“We have to be tactical about this or this protest will go on and on – then I won’t have any choice but to go to Australia! Come on, you know it makes sense.”
![]() |
| "Right, lets work out a statement" |
Sara, despite her determination to keep on fighting, finally agrees to his suggestion, and they draft a statement.
![]() |
| "Why didn't you tell me, Iolo?" |
Kelly is back at number 7, where she tells Iolo, “I forced the information out of Tyler – but why didn’t you tell me? There’s obviously something else wrong!”
![]() |
| "There's something wrong – in here" |
He is convinced that there is something the hospital did not tell him; he has an unspecified feeling in his chest and knows that something is wrong. She urges him to go to A&E to check it out, but he suspects it is the result of smoking when he was fifteen.
![]() |
| "Don't touch me!" |
“Come on, Iolo!” says Kelly, and tries to put her arm round him, but he insists that she does not touch him.
![]() |
| "This is your OCD again" |
“Do you think the attack triggered your OCD again?” she asks.
![]() |
| Ffion may not be getting shot of Chester |
Ffion meets Gaynor, who says that the governors will meet next week; “He can’t possibly stay, can he?” Ffion demands, and is told, although it is not her decision, there is a possibility.
![]() |
| "What a terrible day I've had! |
At the end of the working day, Dol comes out, going on about this being the worst day of her life, and how she has been forced to work against her will.
![]() |
| Just as a placatory statement is going to be read . . . |
Then Jason and Sara emerge to read their statement. “What lies will she spout now?” shouts Stacey.
![]() |
| "Stuff you! I'm not going to budge an inch!" |
At this, Sara loses her temper, screws up the statement and locks the door; “Awyr Iach is closed! There are no jobs for anyone from now on!”
![]() |
| The well-aimed jet of water is a source of amusement for Mal |
As she walks away to the sound of jeers, Stacey unleashes a jet of water from her bottle directly at Sara’s face. A huge cheer erupts.
![]() |
| "Are you crazy or what?" |
Back home, Jason demands, “Are you crazy or what?” Sara wants to show them who is boss, so he points out,
![]() |
| "This fiasco has cost us thousands!" |
“A boss without any workers – thanks to you! This fiasco has cost us thousands. I don’t have any choice but to go for that job. You’re digging yourself into a deeper hole.
![]() |
| "You've got until Friday!" |
“You’ve got until Friday to sort this mess out – or I will go to Australia!”
