At APD, Dai tell Jim they need to order more tiles, but Jim is reading in the Western Post of two boys, killed on the M4;

“I was at school with the father of one of them,” he tells Dai.
Dai wonders why they were out at 2:30am, surmising that they had been drinking.

| "It must be a relief that Courtney's back" |
“It must be a relief to you that Courtney’s back from her walkabout. Don’t tell me you weren’t worried about her,” he says.

Jim replies that he knew nothing about it, but is certainly worried now.

| "OK, Iolo, I'll be over there in five minutes" |
Dai has a phone call from Iolo, asking him to repair the broken window; picking up his toolbox, he hurries off.

| "Why didn't you tell me about Courtney?" |
Jim sees Angela passing and demands, “Why didn’t you tell me about Courtney? What happened?”

| Angela tries to play it down |
Angela insists that Courtney simply overreacted, that it is now all over and she did not want to make a fuss. Jim is not placated;

| "My little girl ran away, and I can guess why!" |
“Anything could have happened! My little girl ran away, and I can guess why! I don’t blame her! She deserves better than you – you’re not fit to call yourself a mother!”

| Debbie takes Angela's side |
Debbie has arrived in the middle of this tirade, and protests that he should not speak to her friend Angela, a sick woman, like that.

Jim explodes, “Sick? She’s not sick! She’s lying, and I don’t give a damn who knows! It’s all lies – she fooled us all, and Courtney’s is not the only life to be ruined –

“because Eileen and I have split up!”

| Diane is 'helping' someone else today |
Diane is at Maes-y-Deri, doing some cleaning; she takes her mop and bucket and heads upstairs.

| "It was not a burglary" |
Dai arrives at Y Felin and temporarily boards up the window; he will replace the glass later. Iolo informs him, “It was not a burglary, as nothing was taken, and theres some valuable stuff here.

“Gwyneth lives here now – and she’s got some dodgy friends.”

| "She's always been trouble!" |
Dai maintains that she has always been trouble. “I’ll speak to Dad before we call the police,” Iolo continues.

Then Dai has a phone call from Diane,

who has managed to break the bathroom window at Maes-y-Deri with her mop. He demands what she is doing there, but she simply instructs him to come and fix it.

“Is today National Window Smashing Day?” he asks Iolo.

| "What you've done is terrible!" |
In the yard of APD, Debbie furiously tells Angela, “What you’ve done is terrible! All these months you pretended to be ill; people felt sorry for you, and raised money, believing there was something seriously wrong! How could you?”

| "Why won't you listen to my side of the story?" |
“Why won’t you listen to my side of the story?” whines Angela, but Debbie insists there is not another side to this story – she deceived everyone, and there must be something wrong with Angela’s head.

| "What has Courtney done to deserve this?" |
Jim demands, “What has Courtney done to deserve this? You’ve caught us all up in this web of lies – and you’re getting exactly what you deserve!”

| Britt hears the news . . . |
In the café, Britt feigns ignorance when Iolo tells her that Y Felin has been ransacked;

“Dad is on his way back. It’s ironic that they changed the locks and then had a break-in. The house alarm was not on, although I set it when I left.” Britt suggests that it was either burglars or vandals. Catrin is concerned that her books and CDs are still there, so Iolo assures her that nothing was stolen.

| Tyler apologises to Iolo |
Tyler offers an apology to Iolo for suspecting that he had been gossiping to the rugby boys, and offers to help him clear up at Y Felin, after the break-in.

| "Why are you cleaning here?" |
Dai arrives at Maes-y-Deri and demands why Diane is cleaning there; she replies that she is helping get the place tidy for when Mark returns.

“What about that Vicky?” asks Dai, “She’s got two arms, hands and legs!”
As Debbie sits in the café flat, Angela appears and wants to explain;

“You’re the only friend I have left!” she wails, “When I started fainting four months ago, I found it was anaemia, but I was so exhausted, I thought it might be a tumour. All of a sudden, Eifion treated me like I was special. Then I found that I was all right, but I had got used to all the attention and love.”

Debbie looks disgusted as Angela adds, “For the first time ever, I was the most important person to someone. The illness made me special!”

Debbie points out, “People thought you were dying, and gave you money! This village won’t forgive you!”

Angela argues that there is no need to tell everyone straightaway; “Just give me some time – I can tell them I’ve had a new diagnosis – that I’m not going to die! Please keep quiet until I can do that, then no-one will be any the wiser, and we can give the money back!

“To prove I’m serious, I’ve withdrawn the money – look!”
Debbie objects to becoming part of her lie, but Angela goes on, “Everyone will get their money back – just give me a fortnight, to make sure this new story is believable.

“Help me, please, Debs – I know you will.” She goes, leaving the money in Debbie’s hand.

As they begin the clearing-up process, Iolo tells Tyler he is sorry for trying to push him into a relationship, and that he will be happy as long as they are open with each other. Siôn arrives home and is told by Iolo what happened; he shows the broken picture and mentions that the alarm had been turned off.

“Britt?” says Siôn, Iolo nods, and regrets that they have no proof,

but Tyler finds a key fob with a photo of Chester, Aaron and Catrin. He suggests that Britt should be asked to come and answer some questions.

| A hypothetical story from Debbie |
In the café, Debbie tells Diane a hypothetical story of someone who discovers their friend has been faking an illness and pretending they were dying to get sympathy – and cash – thousands of pounds. Diane remarks, “That sounds like a loopy woman from America!

“She is obviously not a friend, but a con artist! There’s a name for that – Munchengladbach syndrome or something. Prison is the place for swindlers like that!”

Britt expresses surprise that she has been invited to Y Felin; Iolo explains that they wanted to talk to her before they go to the police.

She seems to think there is no need to involve the police, arguing that there have been a few break-ins lately. Siôn advises her, “Tyler found this key fob,” and she unwisely replies that she has been looking for that

Tyler addresses her, “Stop lying, Britt! Who else would want to smash a photo of Siôn and Gwyneth? And you knew the alarm code.”

When Siôn suggests that the police would be interested in what they have to say, she is about to leave,

but first maintains she ought to remove the rest of her belongings, and the children’s, from the house. Iolo and Tyler go upstairs after her to keep an eye on what she takes.

Dai presents Diane with a bill for the Maes-y-Deri window repair; “£150! Who do you expect to pay that?” she demands. He tells her that she broke it, and that APD is not a charity. “I’m not paying that, but I will buy you a pint!” she offers.

Angela arrives at the bar beside them, saying that she needs a drink; Diane commiserates that some days must be difficult for her.

Britt gets back to the chippy flat with a bag of CDs for Catrin, who asks, “Does this mean I’ll never go to Y Felin again?

“You’ve quarrelled with him, but I still like Dad.” When Britt points out that she knows very well he is not her father, Catrin adds, “He’s been like a father to me, and I’ll miss him. What you’re doing isn’t fair!”
Siôn thinks he had better return to St David’s, as Gwyneth will be worrying,

and Iolo suggests that he and Tyler have a couple of pints after the rugby game tomorrow.

Angela is sitting with Dai and Diane at a table in the Deri when Debbie comes in; she says to Diane, “You know that woman I told you about, who deceived her friend? She’s not as far away as America – she’s sitting next to you!’

Then Debbie announces loudly, “You should all hear this – Angela has managed to fool us all! She’s a liar – she isn’t ill – it’s all a scam! You’re as healthy as the rest of us, aren’t you, Ange? But a bit more wealthy after deceiving us for months!”
