25 April 2016

Mark is rather wary of APD
Mark, on his post round appears to give APD a wide berth;  Dai emerges from the shop with his Western Post,
Looks of mutual suspicion
and they both eye each other suspiciously.
Mark spreads his accusation
Mark sees Sheryl outside the salon and hands her some post;  “I would be better if someone was in prison,” he tells her, “Dai – he tried to link me to Dewi’s murder, and planted a mobile phone in my house to set me up.”   As Colin approaches, he walks off.
"I don't know what's going on in his mind"
Sheryl asks Colin what it is all about;  “I don’t know what’s going on in his mind these days!” replies Colin, who wants to book a trim.
Tomos & Ellis have Y Felin on their books
The Estate Agent visits Y Felin, and is told by Siôn that he does not want the house advertised before the weekend.   He advises Gwyneth that they should be able to sell quickly.
"It's my birthday – can you come?"
Aaron walks in with an invitation for Siôn;  “It’s my birthday on Wednesday – can you come?” he asks.
"Oh, I can't wait for Wednesday"
Siôn replies that he is looking forward to the ten-pin bowling and pizza to follow already.
"We must tell them about the move"
Gwyneth urges Siôn to tell Britt today that they are moving, but he prefers to leave it until after the birthday party, saying, “We don’t want to spoil his birthday.”
"It was a shambles from beginning to end!"
Megan is not happy with the performance of the student who preached yesterday.   “It was a shambles from beginning to end!” she laments, and Anita agrees that it was not the most dynamic sermon she has heard.
"I'll see if JH can come"
“What am I going to do?   I shall go to Maes Glas and see if JH can come!” resolves Megan, but Anita points out that he is getting on a bit, and suggests Megan should deliver the sermon.
"I need Eileen's signature"
Mark delivers to Eileen’s flat and needs her signature, but Sioned tells him she is out until lunchtime.   “I’ve got to go to APD now –
"I hope Dai's not there!"
I hope Dai’s not there!” he says,
"You should stop this, now!"
and Sioned advises that he should stop this business now for his own sake.
Siôn wants local people in the house
“I’ve told Tomos & Ellis to start off with local adverts,” Siôn tells Gwyneth, “Money isn’t everything, and it would break my heart to sell to people from outside the area.”
"We haven't started packing yet!"
Her opinion differs, in that she wants as much money as possible;  “We don’t want it on the market for months.   We’re moving the week after next – and we haven’t started packing yet!   I’m going to work – if we meet for lunch we can write a ‘to do’ list!”
Sheryl visits Sara
Sheryl calls on Sara, who suggests that Cwmderi could be twinned with somewhere in Uganda.   Sheryl gets to the point;
"Almost every article is negative!"
“I’m here to talk about Telcaro – this is what I have found out about them, and I’m quite shocked by it.   Almost every article is negative – and I think they wrote the only positive one themselves.”
"I can give you a discount on six of these"
As Dai is promising two customers a discount if they buy six energy-saving lightbulbs,
Mark comes in
Mark enters APD.
"What's this I hear?"
Diane demands, “What’s this I hear about you showing a photo of Dai around Maes-y-Deri?”   He admits he has shown it to a lot of people as he wants the truth about what Dai tried to do to him.
"He tried to set me up!"
“He tried to set me up!” accuses Mark.   Dai simply wants the letters and for him to go, but Mark will not be silenced;  “You think you’ve got away with it, but you haven’t!”
Dai is sure that he has lost his marbles, but is told, “It’s only a matter of time before the pigs come knocking at your door!”
What do the customers think of this behaviour?
Mark throws the letters at him and goes.
"We have to do something!"
Sheryl informs Sara, “It’s terrible, especially what goes on in certain parts of Asia – there’s a story of a boy being sold by his parents because they were too poor to feed him.   We have to do something!”
"That's only one side of the story"
Sara replies that Telcaro’s side of the story is missing, and that she has been told that when they found one factory was using children, they stopped trading with it.
"You must be naïve to believe that"
Sheryl calls her naïve for believing that, and urges her to find another supplier, handing over a list of ethical companies which Megan has given her.
Sara says she will look at the list . . .
“When you’ve had a look at it, we can have another meeting – how about Friday?” says Sheryl, and Sara agrees, but as soon as Sheryl is out of the door,
. . . but soon screws it up
she screws up the list and throws it down.
"JH had no idea who I was!"
In the café, Megan is even more downhearted;  “I spoke to JH, but he had no idea who I was – I’ve never seen such deterioration!   What am I going to do?”
"Pleased with yesterday's service?"
Siôn and Gwyneth come into the café;  Siôn comments, “I hope you were pleased with yesterday’s service.”
"You weren't there!"
Megan snarls that as he was not present he has no right to an opinion.   “The word on everyone’s lips is ‘hopeless’!” continues Siôn, relishing this exchange.
Megan answers, “He was only a student – young blood is the future of every chapel!”
Megan does not take kindly to Siôn's suggestion
“Then stand aside and make room for new blood!” is Siôn’s final comment before Gwyneth expresses her preference to have lunch in the Deri.
"Send him a solicitor's letter!"
At APD, Diane furiously concludes, “The only answer is to send him a solicitor’s letter!” but Dai doubts whether that will shut Mark up.
"Why is Mark picking on me?"
He wonders why Mark is picking on him, as it makes no sense.   “He doesn’t have any sense!” rages Diane, “I’ve been so supportive of him – and he drags your name through the dirt!
"Report him to his bosses!"
We should report him to his bosses – there were two witnesses here earlier.   We can’t allow him to go round, saying you’ve got something to do with a murder!”
Dai argues that although it is ridiculous, they should not pay too much attention to what he is saying.
"OK, we'll double the amount"
Sara is on the phone, wanting a delivery this week and another next week;  “And as you have been so accommodating, we’ll double the amount of clothes,” she tells them.
She has evidently taken no notice of Sheryl
She is holding a Telcaro catalogue.
"Are you crazy or what?"
There is a banging on Mark’s door, and Colin demands, “Are you crazy or what?   You could be sacked for what you did at APD!   Rumours about your antics are all over Cwmderi like wildfire!”
"It was Dai!'
Mark repeats his accusations, but Colin points out, “You don’t have a shred of evidence –
"It's all in your head!"
it’s all in your head!   Look, in your state you can’t see it, but you’re acting like someone who is paranoid!   Come on, we’re going out for lunch.”
"No-one writes sermons like you!"
Anita tries to cheer Megan;  “Your sermons are as good as anyone’s – that’s why the members chose you as leader – no-one writes sermons like you!”
"I can't deliver them"
“You heard what Siôn said,” replies Megan, “Perhaps I have taken on too much.   I can write sermons, but I can’t deliver them – Siôn is the expert at that.   The thought of stepping into the pulpit makes my blood run cold!”
All this time, Anita has been checking her phone, and after some prompting tells Megan,
Anita explains her romantic problems
“I’m not sure what’s going on.   I’ve been seeing a lot of Sam and thought we were getting on well, but haven’t heard a word since last week.   He’s not answering my calls and texts – and it would be awkward going round to Llwyncelyn.”
"We really should tell everyone"
In the Deri, Gwyneth is adamant that they should tell everyone about the move, and worries how Garry will react to Gwern going to Newport.   Then there is the reaction from Britt and the children to consider.
"No, I'm going to wait until after the party"
Siôn insists he will wait until after the party, and Gwyneth leaves for work.
"I went to see Sara"
Sheryl tells her that she has been to see Sara, and hopes that she has been persuaded.   Gwyneth is sure that she can knock some sense into Sara.
Diane recommends a firm of solicitors
Diane tells Dai that Evans & Evans are good with these cases, and that if he will not go and see them, then she will, on his behalf.
"Look, leave it for now!"
He tries to dissuade her.
Then Mark and Colin come in;
Colin studies the menu board
while Colin decides he will have chicken curry and chips, Mark stares at Dai.   “I don’t know how you can show your face in this village!” he says.
Dai informs him, “What you need is a psychiatrist,
"What's wrong with you up here!"
so they can see what wrong with you up here!”   Mark insists that they are both in it together;  “Don’t drag Diane into your vendetta against me!” Dai shouts, “You’ve lost it!   You’re ‘dwlalipop’!”
Do I detect a trace of guilt on Sioned's face?
While the other drinkers look on, intrigued, Mark announces, “And you’re a murderer!   Dai Ashurst is a murderer who tried to frame me for what he has done.
Dai does his best to ignore this diatribe
You want to know what?   He planted Dewi’s mobile in my house, to link me with the murder – that’s how far he went to send me to prison instead of him!
"That bloke is guilty!"
That bloke is guilty, and should be in prison for the rest of his life!”
Siôn prevents them from coming to blows
Dai has had enough and jumps up to confront his accuser;  Siôn stands between them,
"You're going to pay very dearly for this!"
as Dai predicts, “You’re going to pay very dearly for this!”
