As two police officers are leaving the hospital ward, Tyler arrives, having been summoned by Iolo to take him home;

Tyler is horrified at what he sees.

| "I don't want Dad to know" |
“Thank you for coming,” says Iolo, “I didn’t want to get a taxi, or phone Dad – I don’t want him to know.”
He is feeling a lot of pain where he was kicked and has a broken rib;

| He tells Tyler of the attack |
“The police says there have been a series of attacks on gay men recently. There’s always three of them – and one is a woman – she hit me first,” Iolo tells Tyler. When asked what Tom did, Tyler is amazed to hear that he was one of the attackers.

| "He'd removed his photo" |
“I tried to show the police his photo on Volcano, but he had removed it.”

| "He didn't come home last night" |
Kelly goes to number 7, looking for Iolo, and when told by Colin that he did not come home last night, she remarks,

| "Ooh – he must have had a good time!" |
“That makes sense – he texted last night to say he was having a good time.”

| Tyler feels responsible |
Tyler is blaming himself for this situation, but Iolo emphasises that it could have been worse; “It was a fantastic night, everything was perfect, we were talking and laughing, getting on great. I never suspected it was a trap – why do they hate us so much?

“I’ll never forget that woman’s face, and the other bloke with a bat – I thought I was going to die!”

| "Sorry, Siôn, there's a shortage of Welsh cards" |
Siôn is looking for a tenth birthday card in the shop, and Colin apologises that there are not many in Welsh. Siôn expects that Iolo will have already got a card and present for Aaron.

| "Er, Iolo is very busy – somewhere" |
Colin warns him that Iolo is very busy today, somewhere unspecified, over Cwrtmynach way probably, and he may not be at the party.

In the Deri, Kelly sends a text to Iolo; “You must be having a fab time. Cannot wait to hear all the goss!”

| "New boyfriend, is it?" |
Garry asks if it is a new boyfriend, and she replies,

| "I wish!" |
“I wish! Were you here last night?”
Garry says that he was not, but he heard about it, and when asked what he thinks is going on,

he indicates he suspects there is something not quite right with Mark’s head. As his barman has just arrived, he hurries off, meeting Gwyneth on the way. She wants him to collect Gwern from school; he grudgingly agrees, commenting,

“See you at the party – oh, sorry, you’re not invited, are you?”
Britt walks towards the postbox, and encounters Gwyneth on the way, who hopes that Aaron will enjoy the party. This starts Britt off again, “As if you care!” When Gwyneth suggests that they should behave like adults, she is told,

“It’s you and Siôn behaving like silly teenagers – you need to grow up, not me!”

As Britt posts a letter in the box, she notices, in the window of Tomos ac Ellis, a photo of Y Felin, and appears concerned.

Gwyneth hurries home and admits to Siôn that she almost told Garry about the move; she insists that everyone must be informed tomorrow. Siôn is agonising over what to write in the birthday card;

“It might be the last time I go to one of the kids’ parties.”

| "I'm the villain – not you" |
Gwyneth points out that she is the villain, not him, and Siôn hopes that Britt will be in a better mood by the time of the party.

| Iolo has made it back to number 7 |
Iolo hobbles back into number 7 and tells Tyler that he will be fine now,

| Sitting down is a difficult business |
as he painfully lowers himself into the chair.

Taking out his phone, he sees the inappropriate text from Kelly. As soon as Tyler has returned to school, Colin comes in and is horrified when he sees the state of Iolo.

| "What the hell?" |
“What the hell?” he exclaims. Iolo tells him that he has been in hospital all night as he was beaten up, and his eye socket is broken.

| "Stop looking at me like that!" |
“Stop looking at me like that!” Iolo says,

| "I think I'll go for a lie down" |
“I think I’ll go and lie down for a while.”

| Getting out of the chair is even worse |
As Colin helps him up, he asks whether Tom was with him; “Tom did it!” Iolo replies.
Colin insists, “Tyler should not have enouraged you to go on this Volcano – it wouldn’t have crossed your mind otherwise. Look where it’s landed you!” Iolo describes himself as ‘just unlucky’,

and pleads with Colin not to say a word to anyone.
Colin informs him that this will be far from easy; “Your Dad is expecting you at Aaron’s party, and Kelly’s been asking about you!” Iolo begins his painful ascent of the stairs.

Siôn arrives at the party and gives Aaron a present;

he sees Saeed sitting with Catrin and assumes there is some budding relationship there, but Catrin denies it.

Britt confronts Siôn and asks, “Planning to sell without telling anyone? It is in Tomos ac Ellis’s window – what a way to find out!”
As she badgers him further,

he informs her, “Gwyneth, Gwern and I are moving to Newport. I was going to tell you tomorrow.”

“This is HER, isn’t it?” says Britt in her usual snarl, “Come on, do you think I’m completely stupid!” When Dani enquires if she is OK, Britt answers,

“No, things are not OK, not by a long chalk!”

| "OK, rev the engine a bit" |
Gethin has just effected a car repair and gets Garry to rev the engine;

| "Siôn and Gwyneth are moving to Newport!" |
Britt arrives and breathlessly tells Garry, “Siôn and Gwyneth are moving to Newport the week after next! He just told me!”

| "I saw her at lunchtime!" |
Garry is irked that he did not know anything about this, although he saw Gwyneth at lunchtime.

| "Y Felin is already up for sale!" |
Britt adds, “Y Felin is already up for sale!”

Iolo has taken more painkillers and refuses any food; there is a knock on the door, and he urges Tyler not to answer it.

| Siôn is told that Iolo's whereabouts are unknown |
Tyler however does so, and tells Siôn that Iolo is working somewhere. Siôn is adamant there is a bit of an emergency, so Tyler will get Iolo to phone him.

| Gwyneth is flat-hunting |
When Siôn gets home, Gwyneth has found a couple of likely flats online;

| "Britt already knows!" |
Siôn looks downcast and admits that Britt knows about the move, as she saw the house in Tomos ac Ellis’s window. “I said we should have told people,” she answers.

| "All right – so you were right!" |
Siôn shouts irritably, “All right – so you were right!”

| "OK Garry, I'll be over there now!" |
Gwyneth receives a call from Garry demanding that she goes to see him right away.

Then Siôn’s phone rings; it is Iolo and he begins to tell him the news.

| Stir-fry for dinner tonight |
Tyler and Colin are working on a stir-fry when Iolo, looking rather stunned, tells them,

“Dad’s moving to Newport, and wants to meet me to explain properly.” There is a knock on the door; “Don’t answer it!” panics Iolo, and they all remain silent.
Outside, Kelly bangs on the door,

then the window, shouting, “Iolo!” several times,
![]() |
| She peers through the letterbox |
finally looking through the letterbox, before giving up and walking away.

| "When exactly was this move decided?" |
In the Deri flat, Garry demands, “When exactly was this move decided? Gwyneth explains that after everything that has happened, they need to move somewhere ‘without baggage’, and that she has intended to tell everyone tomorrow.

| Garry reveals his suspicions |
Garry’s opinion differs from this; “I think you were going to put the house on the market and move away without saying. Right, let’s talk about Gwern. Newport – do you think he’d be happy there? Leaving school, everyone he knows, family and friends?” Gwyneth replies that he will make new friends.

| He is somewhat scathing about Siôn |
Garry is growing angry; “Siôn and you – Siôn and Bethania – Siôn and his baggage! That’s what all of this is!”

| "Are you willing to let Gwen come to Newport?" |
Gwyneth argues that children adapt easily to change – it will be a new and exciting experience for him. “Let’s be completely straight with each other – are you willing to let Gwern come to Newport?”

| An extremely emphatic "NO!" |
Garry moves within inches of her face and loudly makes it very clear; “No!” She replies that she will be in touch, and leaves.
