12 April 2016

The Y Felin shredder is working hard
Siôn is busy, shredding paperwork with any connection to Bethania;
"That's a bit extreme!"
Gwyneth feels this is rather extreme, but he insists, “It’s no use to me any more!
"This CwmNi stuff can go as well!"
And I might as well get rid of this CwmNi stuff as well.”   She reminds him he is still on the CwmNi committee, but he does not think he will be much longer.
“I’ll get rid of everything, so I can concentrate,” he tells her, “It’s odd how one letter can finish your career and shatter your dreams – there is no way of appealing!”   Then he picks up his Bible;  “Barren words that are no good to anyone!” he says,
"You've got more faith than me!"
handing it to Gwyneth.   “You’ve got more faith than me!”
"Can you have a look at this laptop?"
Eifion finds Hywel in the street and tells him that Courtney spilt coffee on the laptop;  “Can you have a look at it?   You owe me a favour after throwing me off the rugby team.   She needs her course work off this today,
"I don't want Jim finding out"
and life would be easier if it was sorted out before Jim finds out.”
"Isn't that Courtney's laptop?"
At that moment, Jim is approaching, and he recognises Courtney’s laptop;  Hywel takes it and goes.   “How is Courtney?” Jim asks, “Has she mentioned the wedding?”   Eifion replies that she was disappointed he did not turn up,
"Well, you told me not to come!"
but Jim snarls, “Well, you told me not to go!   I’ll come over later to see her.”
"I'll never do it in time!"
When Eifion gets home, Courtney tells him that she has been given an extension until the end of the week.“Even if all the stuff is on there, I’ll never type it up in time!   And I need to get these stupid questionnaires filled in.   I need research evidence to support my findings.”
"I'll get people to complete these"
Eifion volunteers to ask people to complete the questionnaires for her.
"What's wrong, Eileen?"
In the shop, Colin asks Eileen what is wrong;  she answers that she is missing Sioned, who has sent a few texts from her honeymoon.
"And I miss Angela too"
“And I miss Angela too – what she did was terrible, but she is still my daughter.”
Colin advises her, “I saw Jim go into the café – go and see him, as you’re obviously missing him as well.”  Eileen says that he did not bother going to the wedding, and if he wants her, he knows where she is.   Colin concludes, “You’re as stubborn as each other!”
Sam has the results of his fishing trip . . .
Then Sam comes in, after his successful fishing trip.
. . . and secures his first order
He opens his insulated box to reveal his catch;  Eileen is eager to take a dozen off his hands.
"Pugwash is selling this boat"
He tells Colin that his friend, ‘Pugwash’, is selling his boat;
"Looks like it will sink!"
looking at the photo, Eileen judges it likely to sink.
Sam tells her, “Boats are like women – a touch of paint and filler, and they’re like new!”
Eileen resents this comparison
which Eileen does not appreciate.
Colin does not seem eager
“We could buy this together, Colin, as a partnership.   Repair it and then take it out – something we could do together – and we could make some cash.”   Colin does not look too keen.
Eifion comes in, asking if he can leave one of Courtney’s questionnaires with each of them.
"I gave her Mam £20!"
Sam suspects this is a scam;  “I gave her Mam £20 when she was supposed to be ill!”
Hywel has deployed a hairdryer
Meanwhile, Hywel is reporting to Courtney, “It’s amazing what a hairdryer can do!   You might have more problems, but should be able to open documents.”
"We want you back in the team"
When Eifion comes in, Hywel asks him if he will rejoin the rugby team.   Eifion is reluctant;
"It leaves a bitter taste!"
“Being falsely accused leaves a bitter taste!” he says.   When Courtney advises that the laptop is working again, Hywel suggests that one favour deserves another.   “I’ll let you know,” grumbles Eifion.
"Can you have a word with Siôn?"
Gwyneth asks Hywel if he will come and have a word with Siôn;  “He’s completely lost it since losing the ministry – I’ve never seen him so low!”
Eileen goes to the café and tells Jim, “We can’t ignore each other for ever.”
"I'm not ignoring anyone"
He protests he is not ignoring anyone, and asks if she has heard from Sioned.   “She is enjoying herself – the wedding went well.   People are asking where you were.”
Jim seesm in a hurry to get away
Gwen brings Jim his sandwich and he hurries away, fearing that Dai will be after his blood.
"Is Courtney all right?"
When Eifion comes in, Gaynor enquires about Courtney, as she has heard from Mr Lewis that she wanted more time to finish her coursework.   Eifion replies that the problem with the laptop has now been rectified.
"How about a slot on CwmFM?"
At Y Felin, Hywel suggests that Siôn might like a slot on CwmFM;  “A sort of ‘Thought for the Day’, just some musings on the day’s news?”
Siôn however considers himself that last person that anyone would want to listen to;
"Sinner of the Valley?"
“What would you call it – ‘Sinner of the Valley’?”
"It's better than hiding away at home"
Hywel insists it would be better than hiding at home, maintaining that Siôn has not been out for days.
“How do you know that?” demands Siôn,
"You sent him here, didn't you?"
then looks at Gwyneth;  “You sent Hywel here, didn’t you?   I don’t want anyone’s pity – or charity!”
"I was trying to help"
Gwyneth assures him she was helping him to discover things he could do, apart from the chapel;  she suggests that losing Bethania is not the end of the world, but he disagrees.
"I knew the rules, but gave in to temptation!"
“Not for you, perhaps – it’s my fault – I was rushed into something without considering the implications!   I’m to blame for everything – I knew the rules, but gave in to temptation!”
"Well, if that's how you feel . . ."
Gwyneth takes offence at this;  “If that’s how you feel, I’ll pack my bags!   Sorry for leading you astray – you obviously don’t want me here!   No-one can call you an adulterer if we’re finished.”
Gaynor looks at the photo of the boat
Gaynor is impressed by the freshness of the fish and buys two.   She makes fun of Colin;  “You look pale – does looking at a picture of that boat make you feel seasick?   You used to be sick as a dog on the pedalos on Marine Lake!”   Colin attributes that to the candy floss.
"It was the sea that took him away!"
“Dad fancies buying the boat and wants my help to do it – but it was the sea that took him away!” laments Colin.    Gaynor thinks it is a chance for the sea to bring them together again.
"Sam and Son, Fishmongers!"
“And if you catch fish like this every day, you can make some money – Sam and Son, Fishmongers!”
Eifion returns with several completed questionnaires,
It is all getting too much for Courtney
but Courtney is becoming frantic;  “Stop going on and on about them – I regret mentioning them!”
Eifion losing his temper does not help
Eifion protests that he has not stopped since she deliberately broke the laptop;  unfortunately, Eileen followed him in and heard this.
Her mother's badgering is the final straw
“Fine – I don’t need your help!” Courtney shouts, then she has another call from her Mam;  “Leave me alone! she cries.
A cwtch from Gran
Eileen comforts her
Colin makes a contribution
Colin finds Sam in the Deri and gives him a contribution towards the cost of the boat;  “It’s not half, but I can’t withdraw any more.   I think I might need a lifejacket to start off with.”
"Courtney had laptop problems"
Hywel tells Eifion that the laptop is now fine;  Jim overhears and is told that Courtney had problems with it last night.
"You haven't been a lot of help since Angela left!"
“You haven’t been a lot of help since Angela left!” Eifion tells him.
Jim does not like being kept in the dark
Jim is furious that he was not told.
Gwyneth, about to ride off on her motorbike
Gwyneth appears to be serious about leaving;  when asked where she will go, she replies, “Anywhere but here!   You’re not happy, and I can’t share my life with someone who’s given up.
"This is not the man I fell for!"
This is not the man I fell for – I’ve had my share of disappointments – but I fought back!  You helped me – what would have happened if you had not supported me when I came out of jail?”
"I don't want our relationship to end!"
Siôn does not want the relationship to end, and promises to put the smile back on her face.   He will phone Hywel and accept the CwmFM slot;
"I have all the sermons up here!"
“I’ve got plenty of sermons – in my head!”
Gwyneth stresses, “If I stay, we have to start enjoying ourselves and make the most of what we have.
"We'll go for a motorcycle ride!"
We’ll go for a spin – I’ll fetch another helmet!”    Siôn does look a little apprehensive of being a pillion passenger.
"Not all the planks are rotten"
Sam and Colin inspect the boat;  “Not all the planks are rotten,” is Sam’s diagnosis.
Gaynor strolls up the road from school
Gaynor returns from school to find the boat is parked outside her house;
"I don't want it parked in my garden!"
“It looks worse than the photo,” she says, “I don’t want it parked in my garden – go and ‘anchor’ it somewhere else!”
Courtney's equilibrium has been restored
Eileen has managed to calm Courtney and given her something to eat;
"I'm fine now"
she resumes her work.   Jim marches in with Eifion, and exclaims, “I am her father you know!”   Eifion maintains it is about time he behaved like it.
"Trying to control everything!"
Jim turns to Eileen;  “Typical – sticking your nose in and trying to control everything!”   Courtney shouts at them to stop, pointing out that both Eileen and Eifion have been helping her.
"Where have you been until now, Dad?"
“Where have you been until now, Dad?” she demands, “You promised me you’d be at the wedding.”
"I thought it would be better if I stayed away"
He replies that he thought his presence would make matters worse.   She rages, “So you took the easy option and ran away, as usual!   At least Eifion was here to help – I wouldn’t have got through this without him!”
"I should be looking after you"
Jim says that he should be looking after Courtney, but she does not favour living with Dai and Diane as well.
"You go and sort out yourself and Eileen!"
“I’m happy here and you’ve got a home with Eileen!   If only you realised that and sorted yourself out!   I don’t need your help!”
