11 February 2016

"What's going on here?"
Britt is surprised to find the flat full of boxes;  Chester tells her that Dani is in a rush to go somewhere.   Dani comes in, arguing with Garry about wallpaper, and wants to start taking her clothes over to the Deri.
They certainly like Astro Chocs
“You never told me you were moving today!” moans Britt, and Garry reveals that he was not told either.
“I haven’t brought any furniture – where are we going to sit?” demands Britt,
"You can have the old, drab stuff!"
so Dani concedes that, as they have new things, Britt can have the drab ones.
Siôn does not fancy dinner with Gaynor
Siôn receives a text from Gaynor, reminding him of dinner tonight, but he replies that he is not available.
"I want to make myself at home in the flat!"
As they carry boxes along the street, Garry says that they do not have to unpack tonight, but Dani insists, “I want to make myself at home,” then, seeing Dai coming out of the Deri, shouts, “Oi!   Where do you think you’re going?”
"Where do you think I'm going?"
“I’m just popping to the Sahara for a glass of water,” he replies irritably, “Where do you think I’m going?   Mixing paint – Garry agreed Duck Egg and that’s what you’re getting!”   Dani is not happy with the choice of colour, so Dai tells her, “I don’t care if you want Zinnia Gold or Pompeii Ash, as long as you decide, so I can start painting!”
A bribe changes hands
Dani hands him a £20 note, saying, “I have the last word, OK?”
"You spend more time at the garage than here!"
Ffion is concerned that Gethin spends more time at the garage than at home.
"The work's endless!"
He replies, “I’m manager and mechanic – the work’s endless!   But I’m not saying anything to Garry until the Deri’s open – timing is everything!”
He reminds her that she has to go and see Chester, but she is very reluctant;
Ffion does not want to face Chester
“How will taking all kinds of cheek from him do any good?”   Gethin insists that she is patient and will listen, but will not take any nonsense.   It will be good for her confidence – and her profile.
“You’ll have to deal with that sort of stuff if you want the head’s job,” he stresses,
"All right – I've got the message!"
and she confirms that she has got the message.
Britt has a plan . . .
Britt goes to Gwyneth’s and moans to her again;  “The Queen of Sheba is leaving us all the drab things!   I’m trying to get over a serious injury and this is what I get.   That place is so shabby it breaks my heart.   There’s no point in talking to Garry – the only answer is to do something.   I’ve got the very idea – move in with you!”
. . . and it does not go down well with Gwyneth
Gwyneth is not at all happy with this plan, and argues that there is not enough room here for them all.
"If we're going to reignite this relationship . . ."
Britt carries on, regardless;  “We’ll find a way – she’ll hate that we’re both on the same side.   If we’re going to reignite this relationship, there’s no point in wasting time.   The only thing that has cheered me up is spending time with you.   Why don’t we go for it – we’re good for each other!”
Gwyneth does not relish the thought
Noticing Gwyneth’s sour expression, she admits, “I know you need some time to think about it – but it makes sense, you’ll see!
"We'll have a very happy future!"
We’ll have a very happy future!”   When she leaves, Gwyneth breathes a sigh of relief.
Dai mixes two cans of paint and gives them to Garry;
"I've never seen Duck Egg that pink before!"
“I’ve never seen Duck Egg that pink before!” he says, “I’ll give you another heart attack if you put that on the Deri’s walls!   You shouldn’t accept Dani’s bribes!”
Dai seems to be on to a nice little earner here
Slipping Dai a couple of banknotes, Garry instructs Dai, “We’ll mix the colour I want and put it in the tins of Dani’s choice!”
Hywel arrives for a chat
Hywel calls on Siôn, apparently wanting someone to talk to.  Siôn seems to be enjoying his new-found freedom;  contrary to Hywel’s expectations he enjoys cooking what he wants.
Siôn is an enthusiast of the single life
“I have all the duvet to myself, I can watch documentaries, and listen to the music I want.   Nobody tells me what to do – I love it!”
"I miss Sheryl terribly"
In contrast, Hywel is missing Sheryl terribly, but thinks he may get used to it eventually.
Chester, at his usual pursuit
As Chester is playing a computer game as usual, Ffion comes visiting,
"I play Monument Valley"
and in an effort to bond with him, says that she is playing Monument Valley.   “I completed that ages ago!
"With both hands tied behind my back!"
I could finish it with both hands tied behind my back!” boasts Chester.
"Are you scared of going back to school?"
“Are you scared of going back to school?   I do understand,” she assures him, but he replies that being an alcoholic is not the same.   This infuriates Garry, who snatches the game console from him.   Ffion asks Britt and Garry to go;  “We can sort this out on our own,” she says, and then invites Chester, “Shall we start again?”   He resumes his game.
"Thinking about it is worse"
“I was scared of going back to school – scared of what they’d say about me,” she admits, “Once I went I realised that thinking about it was worse.   It was a relief.   The teachers will give you enough time to catch up, and we can photocopy any work you missed.   If you’re worried about what everyone will think – they will understand.”
"This chat is boring!"
Chester insists he is not worried, but just does not want to go to school.   When Ffion is still convinced that something is worrying him, he tells her, “Yes – how boring this chat is!”
"I can stay here all afternoon"
Her response is, “I’m in no hurry – I can stay here all afternoon, but I won’t leave until I get a sensible answer.”
Chester finally admits he is worried about his mother;  “What if something else happens?”   Ffion assures him that he will be allowed to keep his mobile, so he can contact her at any time of the day;  he nods and thanks her.
"Come back to school with me now!"
“You can come back to school with me now – it will make a change from this flat.   Damien has been asking after you,” Ffion tells him, “The longer you leave it, the harder it gets – believe me, I know!   If you’re not happy, you can come straight home – what do you say?”
"Yes, all right!"
Chester gives a rare smile, and agrees.
Hywel continues, “I’m on my own again – no-one to come home to, or to ask how I am.”   Siôn exhorts him to make the most of it, but he continues mournfully,
"Well, I hope she's coming home!"
“I know Sheryl’s coming home – well, I hope she is – but I do miss her!   How about coming for a couple of pints?”
"Sorry – I've got rather a lot on!"
Siôn replies that he has rather a lot on at the moment.
Britt thanks Ffion for the miracle she has worked
As Garry and Britt head to the Deri, they thank Ffion for the miracle she has worked with Chester.   Dai comes past with the paint, and exchanges a sly wink with Garry, who then has a word with Ffion.
"Someone is starting work at the garage"
“Gethin has been very hard recently – tell him I’ve got someone coming to help him, starting next week.”
"Maybe I'll get to see a bit more of him"
Ffion is glad to hear this;  “Maybe I’ll get to see a bit more of him,” she smiles.
"I don't want to lose your friendship"
Siôn has gone to see Gwyneth, but only has the chance to tell her he does not want to lose her friendship, before there is a knock at the door and Gwyneth tells him to hide, in case it is Britt.
Indeed it is Britt, complete with a bag of belongings, which she has not unpacked since leaving the Deri.   Gwyneth protests that she has not said Britt can move in, but once more is subjected to Britt’s insistence;  “I just feel it’s the right thing for us, and I hoped that you’d come to the same conclusion.”
More moans and groans about Dani
Then she sits down, decribing how ‘madam’ came to the flat on the pretext of wanting a lampshade, but really wanted to brag about her new bed and sofas.
Siôn listens intently
Just round the corner, in the kitchen, Siôn is listening.
"You'll never guess what I did today!"
Gethin returns home as Ffion is preparing dinner;  “You’ll never guess what I did today!” she tells him.
“Change a van’s engine and gearbox while answering the phone non-stop?” he replies.   He is ecstatic when she tells him someone is starting in the garage.
"He has to give me the manager's job now!"
“Garry has to give me the manager’s job now!”
“You were right about Chester – it did me good!” says Ffion, triumphantly.   Then the buzzer sounds;  it is Hywel,
"I have to do regular checks"
who has come to check on the electrical equipment in the flat, which he says he has to do periodically.
"Since when?"
“Since when?” asks Ffion, sceptically.
Gethin assures him that if anything goes wrong, they will give him a shout,
Ffion feels sorry for her ex-husband
and when he has gone, Ffion remarks, “Poor thing!”
Britt will not give it a rest . . .
Britt will not give Gwyneth any peace;  she asks if she has made up her mind.   “I just think it makes sense, doesn’t it?   It’s what we are looking forward to – making a fresh start!”
. . . so Gwyneth puts it off until tomorrow
Gwyneth tells her to come back tomorrow – and at last she goes.
"You've moved on quickly!"
Siôn emerges from hiding, and remarks, “You’ve moved on quickly!”   Gwyneth is speechless.
Hywel at Meilyr's grave
In the rainswept cemetery, Hywel speaks to Meilyr;  “I might as well keep you company –
"No-one else wants me around!"
no-one else wants me around!”
“When is she moving in?” demands Siôn, and Gwyneth answers that she is not;  he adds, “She thinks she is.”
"I don't want to hurt her"
Gwyneth maintains that in Britt’s fragile state, she is afraid of hurting her, and admits she was daft enough to think there was something between her and Siôn.
A sudden kiss from Siôn
Impulsively, he steps forward and kisses her;  she protests, “I can’t do this now!”
"You decide what you want!"
As he heads for the door, he tells her, “You decide what you want!”
