| Marian is convinced there is to be a party |
“To go on the sandwiches for the party,” she explains, although Cadno insists there is no party.

| "Come and sit in your chair" |
DJ gently persuades Marian, “Come and sit in your chair – I’ll get you a cup of tea and a slice of Victoria Sponge.” He tells Cadno that she has been confused for the last couple of days, and arguing with her will only make things worse.

When he takes the tea to her, Marian says, “Thank you, Bob!” DJ and Cadno look at each other.

| Decisions, decisions |
While Colin agonises over which shirt to wear on his date, Iolo cannot believe it is with Kelly, and advises against the yellow one.

| "We've been together for some time" |
When asked, Colin replies that they have been in a relationship for some time.
Then Tyler arrives, he prefers the yellow shirt.

Iolo demands, “Isn’t Kelly twenty years younger than you?”
They explain to Tyler who Kelly is;

“Tall, thin, blonde – well, bluish blonde – really smart! Lives at number 10,” says Colin,

and Tyler suggests a different shirt.
At Maes-y-Deri, Dol is packing two bags and a suitcase,

making sure to take four cans of Carling with her;

she has difficulty carrying it all.

| "Should we call the doctor?" |
Cadno is worried; “Should we call the doctor, or just let her rest?”

They decide that if she is not better by the morning, then they will phone. She adds, “How are we going to manage, looking after her, the boys and the farm?”

| "Shall I peel the potatoes?" |
She goes over and encourages Marian to have a nap before dinner, and she offers, “Do you want me to peel the potatoes?” but DJ tells her that he is doing the cooking tonight. Cadno recommends that they listen to ‘the boss’,

which amuses Marian.

In the Deri, Gaynor tells Sam that she is having a meal with Siôn on St David’s day. When she sees Hywel looking depressed at the other side of the pub,

she goes over, but he assures her that he is fine,

although missing Sheryl, who is spending time with Wil.

As they watch Marian sleeping, Cadno tells DJ that he has taken on a lot; “I’m not the easiest person to be with – I’ve got a lot of baggage.”

He answers that he knows the situation, “You, the boys, Marian – Jim and Eileen – Eifion and Angela – and Sioned! I want to be with you, and be part of everything that comes with that. That’s how things are, and how I want them to be.”

Cadno admits she does not know what she would do without him.

| "And you've kept this secret for a month?" |
Iolo still does not understand how Colin has kept this romance secret for a month.

“Tonight will be different – people will see us together for the first time,” Colin tells him, “We’ve not been out locally before – I didn’t want to embarrass her.”

Then he makes a final check; “Coat, wallet, keys – and flowers. Right, off I go!”

| Dol is hoping to make money at Maenan |
Dol approaches Gaynor and Sam in the Deri with a large bag; when Sam thinks she is off on holiday, she explains that she has been sorting things at the house. “I’m taking this lot to Maenan to see if can make a few quid.”

Gaynor points out that Megan does not buy things, but people donate them. Sam is expecting Colin to come over as he has a surprise; “A new girlfriend, I hope!” comments Gaynor.

As Sam goes to fetch drinks, Dol begins, “We’ve got no electric at the house, so it gave me a chance to sort out. I know I haven’t made the best impression, but I meant no harm.”

Gaynor laughs, “Debbie said you’d apologise, in order to come to Llwyncelyn to see Sam!” Dol asks if that is out of the question, and receives the response,

| Anita comes in |
When Anita arrives at the bar, she sees Hywel and goes over; he looks very pleased to see her, and Gaynor notices this with concern.

| Colin is getting cold feet |
Colin has been waiting for several minutes outside the Deri when Kelly approaches, “Fashionably late,” as she describes it, “It takes time to look this fabulous! Treat ’em mean – keep ’em keen!” Colin appears to be ready to abandon the whole thing.
“Are you going to tell me I look all right, or what?” she demands, and he tells her she is fantastic and beautiful.

Before they enter the Deri she lays down some ground rules; “No funny business, no kissing, nothing like that – and you pay for everything. Let’s do it!” Looking at the flowers, she tells him, “Too much!” so on the way into the pub,

he stuffs them into the top of the shrub by the door.

Hywel is surprised to see the happy couple, and Colin is anxious that Anita might say something, but Kelly assures him, “She won’t!

Gaynor remarks that she did not think that Kelly was his type.

Eager to give everyone even more proof of Colin’s heterosexual orientation, Kelly grabs his bottom; he objects, “No funny business, you said!”
“Got to be convincing!” she whispers,

“I’ve got to nip to the loo – won’t be long, lover-boy!” Colin looks across at Hywel,

As Iolo sits in front of the television at number 7, Tyler comes downstairs and grabs the remote, wanting to watch a programme he recorded. Iolo objects, and then decides he is going to the Deri for a pint.

“To check on Colin and Kelly, you mean,” insists Tyler, but Iolo emphasises he can do what he likes.

| They have not quite got their history straight |
Things get awkward when the happy couple are asked questions like how long they have been together, with both a fortnight and a month being mentioned. “Well, it’s a month since we – you know – in that club, but two weeks since our first official date,” says the quick-thinking Kelly.

Then, announcing that Colin has brought her for a slap-up dinner, she invites Dol and Sam to join them, as Gaynor has left, having a lot to do at home.

Colin protests that four meals will prove expensive, but Kelly pleads, “Come on, Colin – it would make me really happy! You want me to get to know your father, don’t you?”

As Iolo comes in, carrying Colin’s discarded flowers, Hywel is concerned that people will talk about him and Anita; she is remarkably indifferent. “What’s the truth with those two? You expect me to believe they’re in love?” he demands,

and after initial reluctance, Anita asks if he can keep a secret.

Cadno brings Marian another cup of tea and tries to wake her; “Marian, it’s time to wake up, or you won’t sleep tonight.”

Colin and Kelly are feeding each other their dessert,

while Iolo, Dol and Sam watch; Iolo says that he would never have put those two together. Kelly explains,

“That’s why it works – opposites attract!”
As Hywel and Anita leave together, Kelly remarks, “Does Sheryl know you’re going home together?”

and Anita tells her not to be so childish, and that she will see Kelly later.

Iolo expresses doubt about that, as Colin and Kelly look into each other’s eyes and laugh.
Walking along the street, Hywel muses, “They might find there is something between them,” but Anita reminds him not to tell anyone.

She thinks she can probably find her way home from outside the salon, so he goes up to the flat,

When he is out of the way, Dol steps out of the shadows, finds a blanket and settles down on the sofa, in the warm.
