Jim stirs his tea in a particularly preoccupied way;

| "Have you thought about the tests?" |
Eileen asks Sioned if she has had any more thoughts about taking the tests, as she is going to the clinic after lunch. Sioned refuses, despite Ed’s insistence that she should go; “If you know what it is, you can deal with it,” he urges her.
Jim stumbles over some of the belongings Ed and Sioned have brought with them, and shouts,

“There are boxes and bags everywhere – I hope this is temporary!”

| "You should be ashamed, taking money from Garry Monk!" |
Eileen condemns him for taking money from Garry Monk, but he answers, “We’ve got two extra mouths to feed – it’s just as well I did!”

Vicky displays a t-shirt Debbie has had printed, but Liam dismisses it; “This is not a sponsored run!” He receives a text, and leaves for the café, with a box of t-shirts and his bag;

| Dol has definite doubts about Liam |
Dol is very suspicious.

| Ed wants to get in there |
Ed stands outside the Deri, still protected by a very stout padlock.

| "Mam's taking me shopping!" |
In the shop, Courtney tells Eileen that her mock exams are almost over, and then Angela is taking her shopping; as she leaves, she meets Jim coming in.

| "She has to know about this illness!" |
He apologises to Eileen for his outburst; “I was worried about Courtney and these tests. I’ve had enough – she has to know about this illness.

| "I must talk to Angela!" |
“There shouldn’t be different rules for your child and mine – I have to talk to Angela!” Eileen suggests that it might be better if she had a quiet word, as Angela is likely to do the opposite of what he wants.

| Debbie gets little support |
In the café, Debbie welcomes the arrival of the t-shirts, although Angela and Eifion do not share her enthusiasm.

| "Contact Stacey – she has loads of money" |
Liam advises Debbie to contact Stacey, as they need money for a good solicitor. Then his phone rings again;

| "Where are we meeting?" |
“Have you sorted out where we’re meeting?” he asks, “No, so, why are you ringing?” Off he goes, complete with bag.

| "Something about a new kitchen for the Deri flat" |
Ed is trying to find Jim, and Sioned tells him, “He said something about a new kitchen for the Deri flat,” which troubles Ed. “You think I should have these tests, don’t you?” she asks, adding, “I’m scared – the last time I had tests, they were positive.”

| "I shall be here for you" |
He assures her that whatever happens, he will be here for her, but his mood changes abruptly when they hear on the radio that police are looking for Dewi Owen’s mobile phone.

| Ed invents another taxi customer |
He announces that he has a job to the airport, and hurries off.

| Eileen comes to see Angela |
Eileen goes to the café to see Angela; “I saw Courtney earlier, and I couldn’t look her in the eye – I think we should tell her!”

| She says she has seen the consultant |
Angela once again flatly refuses; “How many more times? I don’t want her to worry!” Then she comes up with the story, “I saw the consultant this morning, and he said that it’s unlikely that Courtney has inherited it.”
Eileen points out that this does not concur what she has been reading, so Angela angrily replies, “You read too much! Not a word to Courtney!

Ed once again loiters outside the Deri, and looks unsuccessfully in the skip for any useful tool to gain entry.

| "His behaviour was strange!" |
Dol mentions to Debbie that Liam’s behaviour was strange, but her suspicions are described as nonsense. When Debbie tries to persuade Dai to wear a t-shirt, he replies in, his usual outspoken fashion,

| "Stuff that! A murderer's photo on my chest?" |
“Stuff that! I won’t wear a murderer’s photo on my chest! There’s no smoke without fire – and he’s been arrested twice!”

| "That's exactly what I said!" |
“That's exactly what I said,” agrees Dol, and adds, “Does APD need a cleaner? I’ve got good references.” Dai informs her that APD already has a cleaner, and he is married to her.

| "Are you going back to the Deri?" |
Ed comes in and asks Dai if he is going back to the Deri, but is disappointed when told that he is going to Llanarthur to collect items for the kitchen.

| Jim chats to Courtney |
Jim visits Angela’s house, where Courtney is alone; after some prevarication he asks, “Are your exams causing you any headaches?”

| "You get headaches?" |
When she says she does get occasional headaches, he is concerned, but she explains,

| "At certain times of the month!" |
“At certain times of the month. Dad, you’re being being weird!”

| Jim beats around the bush . . . |
He sits her down and tries to explain, “I realise that you’re growing up. Well, um, you know how adults keep secrets sometimes? Well, you’re mature and sensible enough to deal with anything now.”

She asks him what is wrong.

| "Your mother's ill – it can be serious" |
He manages to come to the point; “Your mother’s ill, with a Brain Aneurysm – it can be absolutely harmless, and people can lead a normal life, but it can be serious.”

| "Is Mam going to die?" |
Courtney demands if her Mam is going to die; as he tells her she has a right to know,

| Dad tries to comfort her |
she hugs her father.

| Ed lurks opposite the Deri |
Still waiting opposite the Deri, Ed sees Liam and his ubiquitous bag pass by,

| Dol is doing some detective work |
followed by Dol, who is stalking him.

| "You've told her?" |
Predictably, Angela is furious that Courtney now knows about the illness, but Jim insists that someone had to tell her. “No-one had to say anything, and you know that’s what I wanted!” she shouts at him. Then she tells Eifion, “This fool had to open his big mouth!”

| "Why didn't you tell me, Mam?" |
Courtney protests, “It’s not Dad’s fault! At least he thought I was mature enough to know! Why didn’t you tell me, Mam?” She runs upstairs.

Jim is adamant, “She has a right to make her own decision about her health and have the tests if she wants!”

| "What's this about tests?" |
Eifion, who has listened to all this, enquires, “Tests? What tests?”

When Angela explains, his reaction is, “It would have been nice to have been told.”

| About to secrete his bag under the stairs . . . |
Liam enters the back door at Maes-y-Deri, checks no-one is around and hides his bag in the cupboard under the stairs. Dol, still doing her surveillance,

follows and notices a bag handle hanging out;

| "I knew it!" |
she investigates, unzips the bag and finds drugs and cash.

| "It doesn't take a genius – he's dealing!" |
Debbie arrives, and Dol tells her, “Look what I’ve found! It doesn’t take a genius to work out that he’s dealing! These, all the dosh and the phone calls!”
Vicky has just appeared, then Liam demands what is going on.

Dol tells him, “No drugs here, mate!” but he insists they are his vitamins.

| "Monopoly money, is it?" |
“And that? Monopoly money, is it?” she says.

| "I was going to tell you" |
When Courtney comes downstairs, Angela says how sorry she is, and maintains they were going to tell her. Seeing how concerned Courtney is, Angela tells them,

“I can’t do this any more! I don’t know how this started, but it’s gone too far! I’m not really . . .”

| She has certainly got Eifion convinced |
Eifion interrupts her at this point, saying that they will do all they can for her – they will look after her. “There’s no need . . .” she begins, but again she does not finish her sentence.

“What about these tests?” asks Courtney, “I’ve thought about it and I want to know!”

Ed is now sitting in the chippy, with a panoramic view of the Deri, munching away, when Sioned sees him and he tells her he came back early.

| "You can come with me to the clinic" |
“Good, you can come with me to the clinic – I’m going for these tests! I need you, please!”

She hands him some flyers to put in the taxi.

| "I had to do something to help" |
Liam explains that he saw how fragile Mark was in the prison, and knows how they take advantage of the weak ones, so he found some people who have contacts on the inside, to keep an eye on Mark.

| They do not appear happy about it |
He is to meet someone who will deal with the matter, so Mark is kept out of it.

| "Right, I have to go!" |
His phone rings and he announces that he has to go.

| All three of them will go for the tests |
As Eileen prepares to go to the clinic, Courtney arrives with her mother, saying that she will go and be tested. Then Sioned comes in, with the same intention.

Eileen assures Angela, “Its better this way!”

| "Better for who?" |
“Is it? For who?” demands Angela, “How would you like people staring and pointing the finger?” Eifion urges her to calm down and tells the others that he does not want anyone else to find out about this illness, as it is too stressful for Angela.

| Job done – now Mark is (allegedly) safe |
Liam arrives back, minus the bag, and insists that now Mark will be all right, although Dol is doubtful about this.

| "I've got to get Sioned's phone charger!" |
At last, Ed sees Dai, complete with his helmet, approaching the Deri, and wants to go in to retrieve Sioned’s phone charger which he says she left behind.

| "Sorry, boy – no can do!" |
He is not happy with Dai’s response; “Sorry, boy – no can do! It’s too dangerous – the place is full of asbestos, and you’re not insured!”

| "We're waiting for you" |
Ed loses his temper and bellows, “Just let me in!” Sioned is approaching and tells him they are waiting for him to drive them to the clinic.
Dai walks away, muttering, “You want your head read! Phone charger, indeed!”
