| Jim looks forward to a quiet pint |
Jim relaxes in the Deri; “There’s nothing better than a quiet pint in my local,” he remarks, rather prophetically. Siôn is in a strange mood behind the bar; at the other end is Kelly, who looks at Siôn rather inquisitively.
![]() |
| Siôn takes exception to Kelly . . . |
“Why don’t you just take a photo?” demands Siôn, “Or write an article for that rag of a paper you work for?”
![]() |
| . . . and pours himself a large one |
He pours himself a large whisky.
![]() |
| "A landlord shouldn't pick on the customers!" |
Jim comments, “In my extensive experience of drinking in pubs, the landlord shouldn’t pick on the customers!” Siôn does not care, and says that it is mere chance that he is a barman.
![]() |
| "You usually manage these do-gooder projects" |
“I was hoping to interview you as chairman of the school thingy, says Kelly, “Friends of Ysgol Cwmderi – you usually manage these do-gooder projects!”
Siôn tells her that it is nothing to do with him, and they are both surprised when Jim tells then that Eileen was elected chairman last week.
![]() |
| "To hell with them!" |
Siôn seems to be acting abnormally; “No-one tells me anything! No-one will listen to me! To hell with them all!”
![]() |
| "What have you been doing?" |
Ed visits Maes-y-Deri and shows Vicky the pictures he took; “What have you been doing? Stalking Dewi?” rages Vicky, “That was just a goodbye kiss – so what? What’s wrong with you?”
![]() |
| They wake Mark |

| Anita is pleased that she has helped |
When Anita calls, she is pleased that her idea is helping them to move on; “Put me down for £20,” she says.
![]() |
| "He's pathetic – giving you gifts and money!" |
Ed will not give up; “He’s two-timing you – and you won’t face the truth about how pathetic he is, giving you gifts and money, like a sugar daddy!”
![]() |
| "No, you're pathetic!" |
Vicky maintains he is the pathetic one; “Dewi doesn’t mind the age difference – anyway, you’re older than Sioned!” Ed tries to tell her that there is something special between him and her, which she vehemently denies. “It’s none of your business – just go!” she orders.
![]() |
| "Do you know how I can contact Iolo?" |
Kelly, concerned by Siôn’s odd behaviour, calls at Garry’s flat as she cannot contact either him or Iolo.
![]() |
| Chester sees an opportunity |
When Chester hears about Siôn, a mischievous smile spreads across his face.
![]() |
| Hywel runs through his script |
In the Antur, Hywel is rehearsing what he will say on CwmFM about his bike ride.
![]() |
| "You're an old pro" |
Jason expresses his sympathy about what has happened, and Hywel admits he is nervous about being back live on air, after so long; “For an old pro like you, it’s like riding a bike,” says Jason.
![]() |
| "Riding a bike is what I am going to do!" |
Hywel informs him that riding a bike is what he is going to do, and he is enthusiastically supported by Jason, who offers to accompany him.
![]() |
| "Team Awyr Iach!" |
“Team Awyr Iach! We will donate kits and money,” he promises. Hywel cannot believe it.
![]() |
| "Buying this place was the beginning of the end" |
In the Deri, Siôn is still behaving out of character; “Buying this place was the beginning of the end,” he tells Jim, who is becoming increasingly anxious,
![]() |
| "They only look after number one!" |
“My pipedream – to turn the pub into the heart of the community. What community? This village doesn’t care about me or anyone else! They only look after number one!
![]() |
| "I must have been mad!" |
“What came over me, thinking I could run Bethania and the Deri? I must have been mad!”
![]() |
| "Pint of lager!" |
At this point, in walks Chester, with a smirk on his face; he demands a pint of lager, and when Siôn refuses to serve him, he decides to serve himself.
![]() |
| Chester is about to drop it . . . |
He picks up a glass and deliberately drops it on the floor; far from disgust, Siôn joins in, dropping one himself, and then upends a whole tray of glasses on the floor.
“Has the whole world gone mad?” demands Jim,
![]() |
| . . . starting a chain reaction that wrecks the pub . . . |
as Siôn rampages though the Deri, overturning tables and chairs. He takes down one of the pictures and batters it on a table,
![]() |
| . . . and terrorises the customers |
inviting Anita to join him, as she has come to see what the commotion is all about.
![]() |
| Chester is impressed by what he has started |
As he overturns the bookcase, Chester cannot believe what he has set in motion. Jim attempts to contact Iolo,
![]() |
| The bar is next in line for the sledgehammer . . . |
but then he and Anita see Siôn re-enter the bar, now armed with a sledgehammer.
“This is fun!” shouts Siôn, while Jim threatens to call the police,
![]() |
| . . . and even Chester thinks it is getting out of hand . . . |
and Chester, by now scared, urges him to stop.
![]() |
| . . . then the beer taps do not last long |
After a few hefty blows at the bar, the beer taps are the next target, and are soon sent flying.
![]() |
| Meanwhile, in the peace and tranquillity of the café . . . |
In the café, Mark compliments Hywel on his CwmFM performance; “It brought a lump to my throat,” he says,
![]() |
| . . . Mark starts off the Meilyr Memorial Fund |
and hands over £10 to start the fund. “The whole village is behind you,” he adds.
Ed sidles in and takes Mark aside;
![]() |
| "I saw him kissing another girl!" |
“Dewi’s two-timing her now – I saw him kissing another girl. I’m worried about her – she won’t accept the truth.” Mark agrees to have a word with her.
![]() |
| Kelly is interviewing Eileen, when . . . |

| Siôn continues his trail of destruction . . . |
As Mark emerges from the café, Siôn strides purposefully past in the direction of Bethania, the sledgehammer over his shoulder;
![]() |
| . . . causing consternation in the village |
he is watched by some concerned villagers, and Megan runs after him.
When she enters the chapel, she hears shouts and grunts from upstairs,
![]() |
| He rips up books like a maniac . . . |
where Siôn is systematically ripping up books
![]() |
| . . . then breaks the WC pan in half |
and ramming them down a toilet with the handle end of his sledgehammer, resulting in the lavatory pan breaking.
![]() |
| "No, Siôn! Not Bethania!" |
Returning downstairs, he is about to start wrecking the chapel when Megan manages to stop him. “No Siôn – not Bethania!” she shouts, “Don’t destroy this place! Whatever happens, we’re on your side.”
![]() |
| Siôn admits all his wrongdoings |
“No, you’re not, nor is anyone else!” responds Siôn, “I stole money from Bethania’s account to buy the Deri, then I made an even bigger mess of things by asking Garry Monk to pay the debt for me!”
![]() |
| Megan seeks divine assistance |
Megan recites, “Forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us.”
Siôn continues, “So there’s no way round it – Garry’s dirty money has been keeping this place going for months.
![]() |
| "Hold this for a minute – I'm going to the police!" |
Hold this a minute,” as he hands Megan the sledgehammer, “I’m going to the police!”
![]() |
| "You're not going anywhere near the police!" |
Unexpectedly, Megan informs him, “You’re not going anywhere near the police! They have paid far too much attention to Bethania lately. The last thing Bethania needs is another scandal!
![]() |
| "Don't drag Bethania down with you!" |
“Don’t drag Bethania down with you! Do you hear me?”
Vicky is drying her hair and singing;
![]() |
| "I can feel another lecture coming on!" |
“I’m always happy when no-one is hassling me,” she tells Mark, “But I can feel another lecture coming on!”
“I don’t want this Dewi to hurt you – I’m not happy about him,” Mark tells her.
![]() |
| "It's not concern – it's jealousy!" |
“That’s OK – he doesn’t want to go out with you!” she replies. She dismisses any talk of Dewi cheating on her, and demands why Ed is stalking Dewi. “It’s not concern – it’s jealousy!” she says.
![]() |
| "I should have pushed you harder" |
Megan is reviewing the situation; “I should have pushed you harder about those ‘foreign accounts’.”
![]() |
| "I shall resign from the chapel!" |
When Siôn tells her that obviously he will be resigning as the chapel leader, she has other ideas.
![]() |
| "You will not!" |
“You will not – this is not about you any more. Everything is closing in our villages – leaving Bethania without a leader would give them an excuse to close the place, especially after this scandal. You’ve no choice but to stay.
“Even if you are leader – in reality, I myself as deacon will be in charge. Now that your conscience is clear, maybe you will make an excellent leader.”
![]() |
| Siôn bursts into laughter |
Siôn starts to laugh; I’ve been suffering for months, not sleeping and not thinking about anything else – and for what? If I’d told you everything earlier, I would not have had to borrow from Garry, and I wouldn’t be in this hole now!”
![]() |
| Yes, he appears to have 'lost it"! |
He throws up his arms and laughs hysterically.
Vicky lays in wait in the alley;
![]() |
| "Why did you tell Mark about the photo?" |
seeing Ed, she demands why he told Mark about that photo with the kiss. He denies that he mentioned it, only that he saw Dewi kissing someone outside his house.
![]() |
| She warns him off . . . |
“You’re just a weirdo, causing me trouble!” she complains, “I don’t want you calling at Maes-y-Deri again, or talking to Mam or Mark!”
![]() |
| . . . but he will not be dissuaded |
Ed pins her against the wall and tried to kiss her. She fights him off with, “Whoa! Perv! Leave me alone! You’re worse than Dewi!
![]() |
| "Get lost!" |
“Sioned deserves better than you – get lost!”
