5 January 2016

Apparently it is Edinburgh now
Gemma is packing, ready for departure to Edinburgh with DJ, who protests that he will not support Edinburgh as he is a Scarlets fan.   Gemma has been sent a photo of the room where they will initially be staying;
"That looks a bit cramped"
DJ remarks that it is so small, they will be on top of each other.
“I hope so!” says Gemma, “But any room beats a cell.   Once we’re settled we can look for a flat.   You’re a good chef, so it will be easy to get a job.”
"Sorry to hear you've separated"
Siôn is in the shop, where Colin tells him, “It’s a good sign that Britt is in a general ward, but I’m sorry to hear that you’ve separated – it must be difficult under the circumstances.”
"Sorry, I thought it was official"
When Siôn glowers at him, he apologises, “Sorry, I thought it was official – your brother-in-law told me.”
Siôn rebukes him, “You should pay more attention to your stock than to village gossip – this is two months out of date!”
Colin gives away two boxes of chocolates
Colin makes amends by giving him two boxes of chocolates on the house.
Only a few weeks ago she said another child could kill her
Sheryl sits in the salon with Hywel and tells him, “I’ve been thinking that the only way we can move forward properly is to have another child – don’t look at me like that!   It makes sense – remember how you felt when we took Nicky?”
Hywel does not want another baby
Hywel emphasises that it was a mistake, and that they should just enjoy each other’s company as a normal couple.   “Don’t normal couples have babies?” she enquires
More road works going on in the village
As Cadno delivers vegetables to the shop she encounters Gemma, who announces, “DJ and I will be glad to leave this hole!   Didn’t you know?
"We're leaving for Edinburgh"
We’re leaving for Edinburgh at the end of the week – there’s a goodbye party in the Deri tomorrow night, and you’re welcome to come.”
Cadno rings DJ . . .
Cadno immediately rings a number and leaves a message;  “DJ, it’s me – we need to talk, please.   Can you come to Penrhewl as soon as possible?”
. . . and Gemma is eavesdropping
Gemma, hiding round the corner, listens to this.
"I've come to get the children"
Garry arrives at Y Felin, proudly informing Siôn, “I’ve come to get the children – do you remember what Britt said?”
"I'm their legal parent!"
Siôn protests that he is their legal parent, but Garry reminds him that he is their uncle.   When Siôn insists that they are not going anywhere, Garry makes himself comfortable;
"I'll have a cuppa while I'm waiting!"
“I’m waiting for the children to come home from school, to see what they say about their mother’s wishes.   I’ll have a cuppa while I’m waiting!”
"I've had one of my brainwaves"
Anita find Hywel in the café, and announces, “I had one of my brainwaves last night, thinking how you two could move on, after such a terrible experience.   Raising money for a charity – that helped me with Eira – and Meic, to some extent!   It would be something to focus on.”
"You threaten me again . . ."
Garry hears the children approaching, and warns Siôn, “You threaten me again, like you did in the hospital, and you’ll need a special ward, not Britt!”
"Mam wants you to live with Dani and me"
When Catrin and Aaron come in, Garry tells them, “Mam wants you to live with Dani and me.”
Why?” asks Catrin;  Garry realises that Siôn has not told them anything, and informs them that Siôn and their mother are not going to be together any more.
"Don't you love each other now?"
“Don’t you love each other now?” Catrin demands.
“It’s difficult for Siôn to say, but you’re right, Catrin,” Garry replies, “I want you to pack your things into the biggest bags you’ve got – toothbrushes, clothes, whatever, and your school things in your school bags.”
Catrin is worried about Siôn
Catrin is hesitant, but Garry assures her that Siôn will be all right on his own;  “It’s Mam that’s important now,” he tells her.
"I don't think I should have come"
When DJ arrives at Penrhewl, he is not sure that he should have come.   “Were you going to Edinburgh without telling me?” asks Cadno.    DJ tells her he does not want any fuss, and the leaving party was Ed’s idea.
Cadno is full of apologies
Cadno is very penitent about creating this mess, and acknowledges he has been through hell on her behalf.   She gives him a set of Star Wars DVDs.
“May the force be with you!” he jokes, “That means a lot to me.”
"I sent you a photo album"
Cadno confesses that he means a lot to her, and reveals that she made a photo album for him, Memories of Penrhewl, to cheer him up, and Gemma was supposed to post it.
"Well, I didn't get it!"
“Well, I didn’t get it!” he replies.
“Is that the girl you want to spend the rest of your life with?” demands Cadno.
"Will we ever come here again?"
The children have packed their bags and are ready to leave;  “Will we ever come here again?” asks Aaron, and Siôn tells him that they will have a proper chat when Mam comes home.   Garry ushers them out of the door,
"Don't forget – the next payment is due"
reminding Siôn that the next monthly payment is due by the end of the week.
"Big mistake you are making!"
Cadno puts on a ‘Yoda’ voice, “Big mistake you are making – unhappy in Edinburgh DJ and Gemma will be!”   DJ asks her what there is to keep him in Cwmderi;
"Me!"
she replies, “Me!”
They kiss – and of course . . .
Cadno leans forward to kiss him, and at that moment Gemma walks in.
. . . in walks Gemma
Cadno demands that she wants an explanation, and Gemma says the same;  “Why didn’t you post the album?” asks Cadno.
"I threw it away!"
Gemma answers, “I thought you fancied him – and I was right – so I threw it away.   I know it was wrong, but nowhere near as bad as what you just did – I just caught you kissing each other!”   She walks out.
"That's right, run away from the truth!"
“That’s right, run away from the truth!” shouts Cadno, “The truth is we do have feelings for each other.”   DJ follows Gemma.
"Don't you have anything to do in the kitchen?"
In the Deri, Hywel tells Anita that he is warming to the idea of fundraising.   Siôn demands, “Don’t you have anything to do in the kitchen?   You’re supposed to feed our customers, not chat to them!”
"Did you know they've separated?"
Anita excuses his outburst;  “Did you know they’ve separated?   Garry has taken the children to his flat.   I’d better get back to work, or he’ll bite my head off!”
Hywel suggests fundraising in memory of Meilyr . . .
Hywel explains the fundraising idea to Sheryl, but she does not share his enthusiasm;  “You know what I think,” she tells him.   He replies that, when it comes to babies, he is cursed, having had no luck with any of them.
. . . but Sheryl has other ideas
She also wonders, “When will my luck with babies change?”
"Just get in, will you?"
In the background, Siôn is becoming more agitated;  on the phone he says, “Can you do a shift for me tonight?   I’ve got things to do – just get in, will you?   OK, I’ll pay you double!”
"We'll have chips next time"
Garry discovers the children do not like curry;  “Right, we’ll have chips next time.   Now we have to do the washing up.”
"Do we have to?"
Aaron asks if they have to, and Catrin wonders when they will see Mam.   “Next week, probably –when she gets stronger.”
The questions keep coming;  “What about Chester?   Where’s Auntie Dani?”   Garry is suitably vague, saying that she is on a course somewhere, to do with work.
"Where will everyone sleep?"
Catrin then poses the question, “Where will everyone sleep when Dani, Chester and Gwern are here?”
Aaron pipes up, “And Mam?”   Garry assures them he will sort something out.
Siôn looks at a card . . .
Siôn, at Y Felin alone, looks at a Christmas card
. . . and than at his trashed tree
then throws the Christmas tree to the floor.
"Take your things away!"
In the Deri flat, Gemma gets all DJ’s things for him to take away;  he says he feels terrible, but her reaction is,
"It didn't look that way to me!"
“It didn’t look that way to me!”   He feels very guilty after all she has done for him;  the last thing he wants to do is upset her.
“What do you expect me to do?” she demands, “Stay here and watch you snogging Cadno in the Deri?   Don’t pretend you care – go back to your new girlfriend!   If you love her, you shouldn’t have slept with me – you should have told the truth!
"I'm leaving as planned"
But, hey, these things happen, don’t they?   I’m leaving for Edinburgh on Thursday as planned.”
"I'll try and stay at Bryntirion"
DJ says he is going to ask Diane if he can stay for a few nights at Bryntirion.
"He didn't call, did he?"
Gaynor visits number 7;  “He didn’t call, did he?”   Seeing Colin’s puzzled look, she adds, “Your father.   He called yesterday on his way to see you, he said, but he must have got cold feet.”
"It's not his feet that are cold!"
“It’s not his feet that are cold,” snarls Colin, and he does not want to discuss his father.   “Turning up when I haven’t seen him for years!   And for what?   Probably expects me to look after him in his old age.
"He's obviously after something!"
He had enough chances to see me, but chose not to – he must want something.”
"At least, go and see him"
When Gaynor tells him that his father has a bedsit in Cardiff, Colin responds, “He’s not coming here!”   She urges him to go to Cardiff to make sure his father is all right.
Siôn is drowning his sorrows
As Siôn sits at the foot of the stairs, drinking whisky, Hywel calls,
"I'll stand that up again"
and restores the tree to its upright position.
"Sheryl needs you more than me"
Offering him a drink, Siôn maintains that Hywel should be with Sheryl.
Oh dear – a long-bladed knife brings back memories!
Gemma does the washing up, and looks thoughtfully at a large knife,
Just what does she have in mind?
before putting it away in a drawer.
