| Garry sizes up what needs doing |
Garry is in the Deri, surrounded by planks of wood, as he surveys the repairs which are needed; he is surprised when Dani walks in.

| "What is this mess?" |
“What’s this mess?” she asks, and is told that Siôn came in with a sledgehammer and smashed the place up.
“He totally lost the plot! He can’t deal with things,” Garry tells her, and she thinks Siôn is not the only one.

| "The police wanted to ask me questions" |
She has had to come back as the police wanted to question her about one of Cwmni Perffaith’s clients being beaten up, and was asked what information she had about the company he kept.
Garry asks if she is still angry with him;

| "I can still hear the sound of the gunshot!" |
Dani replies, “I can’t forget what happened – I still hear the sound of the gunshot!” Garry hopes it will not spoil things between them.

| "We're not supposed to have secrets!" |
“We’re not supposed to have secrets!” she insists, “If I’d known about the gun, I would have thrown it in the river, and found a safe way of paying back your mates!”

| Garry is regretful |
Garry regrets he did not do that; “Then I would not have had life without my wife for three weeks!” he laments.

| "It's all right – they've gone" |
The police have just left Maes-y-Deri after talking to Vicky about her relationship with Dewi; they had seen Twitter messages between them. Debbie calls upstairs to Mark that they have gone, and he comes down.

| "The police have a description" |
“The police have a description of the attacker,” Vicky tells them.

| "I don't deny I was there!" |
Mark does not deny he was there, and Vicky continues, “Dewi is on life support! All I can see is him banging on the car window as Sioned and I drove off!”

| Debbie does not appear convinced |
Debbie is very suspicious; “You came back in a terrible state, with blood on your hands – and you’ve been scared ever since!”

| "I'm scared of being arrested!" |
Mark admits that he is scared of being arrested, as he must have arrived just after someone had attacked Dewi. Debbie warns him that he will only make matters worse by running away, and he is outraged that she should think he is guilty of the attack. Vicky, however, believes him.

| "I think running a pub would suit me!" |
Garry gives Dani a drink and muses, “I think running a pub would suit me! And you could be behind that bar.”

| "This is no time for joking" |
Dani admonishes him for joking at a time like this, but he says, “What if I’m not joking? I don’t think Britt will be back here for a while, and she has always been there for me through the years. Now we can repay the favour by being here. Britt has forgiven me, and I’d like it if you did the same. She’s left Siôn – she and the children have moved in with me.”

| "I'm going somewhere to hide" |
Mark announces, “I’m going away – somewhere to hide for a while. I went to prison years ago, but I deserved it. I’m not going back there for something I didn’t do! I love being here with you and Nicky.”

| "Flight is an admission of guilt" |
Debbie interprets his action as admission of guilt, and although Vicky believes him,

| Mark is determined |
he takes his bag, pulls up his hood and leaves.

| "You said 'no more secrets'!" |
Dani angrily recalls, “No more secrets – that’s what you said!”

| "That's how it will be" |
Garry pleads that is how it will be from now on, but she warns, “Don’t make promises you can’t keep!” In the absence of any privacy in the flat, they agree to go for a walk to discuss things.

| They encounter Mark . . . |
As soon as they get outside, they meet Mark, who greets Dani with,

| . .. who is in trouble |
“You’re back – and I’m leaving. I’m not sure where – it’s a long story, but I’m in trouble.” Dani says he must come into the Deri for a drink.

| "I didn't do it!" |
Inside, he explains that the cops are looking for him; “I was in the wrong place at the wrong time – but I didn’t do it! Haven’t you ever been wrongly accused?” he asks Garry.

| "Nobody believes you!" |
“Nobody believes you, and you start wondering if you’re guilty, and everyone’s out to get you. Dani, you know I’ve gone straight for years – I’m just looking for somewhere to stay until the truth comes out.”

| "It's not easy to disappear!" |
Garry warns that it is not easy to just disappear, and he does not want to get involved. Dani is adamant that she will not turn her back on a friend. She tells Garry to leave, while she has a chat with Mark.

| "What has he done?" |
As Garry comes out of the Deri, he sees Debbie and asks her what Mark has done; “He has done something stupid and wants me to find somewhere for him to hide.” Debbie comments that Mark must be desperate – or guilty, and predicts that if anyone can get the truth out of him, it is Dani.

| There is a high-profile police presence |
They pass a couple of uniformed police officers.

| "The cops are looking for me!" |
Mark tells Dani, “The cops have been round, looking for me!”

| "They're investigating an attack on Dewi Owen" |
Dani tries to console him, advising that they are investigating an attack on Dewi Owen. “Yes, Vicky’s boyfriend,” he replies, “He’s the problem. He treated her like dirt, and she had no-one else to look out for her but me. I went to his house to tell him to leave Vicky alone, and found him half-dead. Debbie doesn’t believe me, so why should the cops?”

In the café, with the police talking to John Post opposite, Garry asks, “It’s not this business with the bloke who used Cwmni Perffaith, is it? Debbie tells him about Mark going to sort him out for being so horrible to Vicky. “No wonder he’s on the run!” says Garry,

| "He might go where Dani has been" |
and when told that Dani might take him where she has been, he rushes out.

| "What would you do, in my shoes?" |
“What would you do if you were in my shoes?” demands Mark, and Dani is quite clear she would not run away. She could not handle what happened on Christmas Day, but now is angry with herself for not staying.

| "I still love Garry!" |
“The problem is – I still love Garry! Can I stay at Maes-y-Deri tonight?” Mark tells her she is always welcome there, but he will not be there. “You can’t run for ever,” she advises, “Go to the police and tell them – if you’re innocent, why worry? You know I’m talking sense!”

Mark argues that it would be like presenting himself on a platter to the police, but Dani assures him, “You’d be doing the right thing, so you’ll be able to deal with the consequences, whatever happens.

“Let’s have a night at Maes-y-Deri, just like you and me in the old days –

| They hug |
“forget about our problems, and if you’re ready, go to the police station tomorrow.”
They hear Garry’s voice outside, “Dani? Are you still here?”

| The police are still making enquiries |
As she goes out of the door, she sees the police talking to someone in the High Street. “I’ve decided to help, as he’s an old friend of yours,” announces Garry, “I can find him a place in Newcastle.”

| "I don't want this life!" |
Dani is angered by this; “He doesn’t need help! You and your dodgy mates! I don’t want this life! Check if he’s OK and tell him he can come out after they’ve gone.”

| "You've been a naughty boy!" |
Garry goes inside and teases Mark that he has been a naughty boy. Mark however tells Garry,

| "You're stupid!" |
“You’re stupid! You’ve got a perfect wife there – what else do you want in life?” Garry admits she is the best thing that has happened to him; “Then tell her!” urges Mark, “If she were my wife, I’d . . .”
They are interrupted by Dani returning to inform them the police have gone. Mark tells Dani, “You have to stay here and talk, and I’ll see you when you’ve finished talking, OK?” He slips out of the pub.

“Debbie told me about the trouble he’s in,” says Garry, but Dani insists he has not done anything. “I can understand why he wanted to sort Dewi out,” Garry tells her,

| "Mark wouldn't do that!" |
but she points out that is the way he would sort it out – but not Mark. Garry is adamant that an escort agency attracts the wrong types.
“I feel guilty enough that Vicky met him through the agency,” protests Dani.

| "Help me run the Deri!" |
Garry changes the subject and asks her to help him run the Deri, stressing that he is serious. “Working for Britt, my sister-in-law? No, not a good idea!” is Dani’s response,

| "It's not going to happen" |
“This place could do with a makeover – but it’s not going to happen.”
Garry asks if she is coming home, but she intends to stay at Maes-y-Deri.

| "I don't like waking up alone every morning!" |
“I’m lost without you,” he pleads, “I don’t like waking up alone every morning! Please, Dani.”
“We’ve said enough for one day – you’ll have to wait,” she advises him, “I’m going to walk to Maes-y-Deri – you’ve got enough work to do here.”
