Siôn suspects intruders
During the night, the intruder alarm at Y Felin sounds;  Siôn comes downstairs, armed with a cricket bat.   He shouts, “Craig?   Are you in here?   Wiliam?”
He silences the alarm
He realises what has happened and silences the alarm.
Meanwhile in number 7, Colin who has to be up early for the paper delivery, had been boiling the kettle when the power cut occurred.
Colin, about to light the candle
Iolo is also up, and surprises Colin in the dark;  “Sneaking up behind me like that!” exclaims Colin.
Dai looks out to see if other lights are out
Dai peers out of the window and disturbs DJ, sleeping on the sofa, who  checks the time on his phone – 5:30am;  Dai walks into something and predictably shouts, “Nefi wen!”
"It's only 5:30am"
DJ admits that Gemma caught him kissing Cadno.
At Cysgod y Glyn, Chester, sleeping on the sofa, shines a torch at Ffion;  “Sorry – didn’t mean to frighten you, Miss!” he says,
"You don't have to call me 'Miss'"
and Ffion advises he does not have to call her ‘Miss’, as they are not at school.
Chester does not want to sleep
“It’s not that I can’t sleep,” he confides to her, “I don’t want to.   I get the same nightmare over and over again – I keep seeing Mam get shot.   It’s a bit better now I know she’s recovering, but that won’t help me in court!   I’ve heard that it can be tough in Young Offenders’ Centres.”
"Your Mam knows it was an accident"
Despite Ffion assuring him that Britt knows it was an accident, he insists, “It was my fault – I pulled the trigger.   If I hadn’t picked up the gun, nothing would have happened!”
Colin makes lukewarm coffee . . .
Colin is having coffee, made with the half-boiled water, and Wiliam asks if he wants a drop of brandy in it, brought back from their trip to Paris.
. . . adding a little 5-star brandy
“I hope that Eileen doesn’t breathalyse me behind the counter,” jokes Colin, adding, “You must have enjoyed yourselves in ‘Gay Paree’.”
Iolo is rather subdued
Iolo looks rather subdued, and when Colin asks what he thinks caused the power cut, he snaps, “How do I know?   I’m not a psychic!”
"All this break-up business"
“It’s understandable, you being upset about your father and this break-up business,” replies Colin, then realises that this is news to Iolo.   “You do know they’ve split up?   At the beginning of the week.”   Suddenly Wiliam gets up and has to leave for work – so he says.
"I expected better of you"
Dai is not impressed with DJ;  “I expected better of you, but you are your father’s son, I suppose.   Why did you decide to move to Edinburgh to live with Gemma, then kiss Cadno?   She’s taking advantage – doesn’t want to lose a farmhand!”
"Don't talk about Cadno like that!"
“Dont talk about Cadno like that!” urges DJ, but Dai asks how he thinks she got the name ‘Cadno’ (fox), and that she can be sly.   DJ is adamant;  “Not a word to Cadno, do you hear?   If you do, I’ll never forgive you!”
Chester asks a lot of questions
Chester asks Ffion, “Was my father killed in this room?” but Ffion says she is not sure;  “Was he stabbed?   And what about Aaron’s father?   Didn’t he kill himself?   Weren’t you married to him?”
"You should ask your mother, not me"
Ffion says these are things he should ask his mother, not her, about Teg.
"Dad's ghost might visit us tonight!"
Chester ponders, “We are a weird family!   Dad’s ghost might visit us tonight –
Ffion looks a little uneasy
Siôn used to say bad luck or ghosts would come to the house if we didn’t take down the Christmas decorations by the 6th.”
Ffion tries to reassure him, “Just because Siôn and your mother are separated doesn’t mean you won’t see Siôn – I’m sure he’ll always have a place in his heart for you.”   Chester however predicts that he will not miss Siôn at all.
"It's only 5:45am!"
Iolo is about to phone his father, but Colin points out it is only 5:45am.   Siôn is pleased to hear Iolo’s voice;
"I don't want to discuss it"
“It’s been terrible, but I don’t want to discuss it, especially over the phone,” Siôn says.
"I'll be over after breakfast"
Iolo promises to come over after breakfast, and apologises that he has not been there for his dad.
Siôn heads towards the broken window . . .
Suddenly there is the sound of breaking glass;  Siôn grabs a torch and the cricket bat, looking towards the window.   “Craig, is that you?” he shouts, then slowly turns to find Wiliam standing behind him.
. . . then turns to see Wiliam
He says, ominously, “I don’t that would be much use against Craig – or against me!”
Iolo tells Colin that he is worried about his dad, simply because he is his dad.
"I haven't seen my father for fifteen years"
In contrast, Colin recounts, “I haven’t seen my father for fifteen years, and he turned up in Cwmderi earlier this week.   He tested the water with Gaynor and got cold feet – he left without seeing me.
"I don't feel guilty at all!"
“We have always had a strange relationship – and I don’t feel guilty at all!”
Wiliam fabricates a story
Wiliam explains that he broke the window so he had a good excuse for being late to work;  “You phoned me, as you were worried about vandals!”
When asked by Siôn why he really is there, Wiliam continues, “I was sorry to hear about you and Britt.   We have to make sure you don’t do anything silly.”
"I won't mention you or Craig"
Siôn promises that he will not mention anything about him or Craig;
Wiliam becomes threatening
“You’d better not – or who knows what I’ll do next time?” threatens Wiliam.
Dai has boiled some milk on the gas hob, and made coffee;
"Are you sure you're doing the right thing?"
“Are you sure you’re doing the right thing, finishing with Gemma?
"It feels too convenient to me"
You have to tread carefully where Cadno is concerned – it feels too convenient to me.   Not too long ago, she let you go to prison in her place.”
"There's no point pretending"
Iolo is becoming philosophical;  “If lovers or relatives don’t get on, there’s no point pretending.”
"Are you getting fed up with Wiliam?"
Colin remarks that it sounds like he is getting fed up with Wiliam;
"He's getting on my nerves"
“I’m fed up with ‘Wiliam the policeman’ – he can change, just like that, especially lately.   I tried to get him to talk openly on our trip – but he didn’t want to talk about anything.   He just made more of a fuss of me, as if he was feeling guilty – and that got on my nerves!”
"Now I remember why I'm single"
Colin comments, “Now I remember why I’m single!”
"I've always been fond of Cadno"
DJ tells Dai, “Although we’ve argued a lot recently, I’ve always been fond of Cadno.   I liked Gemma too, I helped her realise that leaving Cwmderi is the best thing for her – a fresh start.
"Gemma helped me to see what was right under my nose"
She helped me to see what is right under my nose.”
“Cadno!” says Dai, “I just want you to be happy, but it makes my skin crawl to think of Cadno taking advantage of you.
"Go and boil some more milk"
Right, now go and boil some more milk for another coffee!”
"Sorry about all that ghost talk"
Chester apologises for talking about ghosts and his dad;
"I should have given it more thought"
“I should have given it more thought before letting you stay here,” admits Ffion, “I didn’t want to upset you about Teg.”   Chester thinks that in a strange way he feels closer to his father.   “You must just remember what a kind, lovely man he was,” she tells him, then she blows out the candle.
Wilima completes the official paperwork
“There, you’ve got a crime number for your insurance,” says Wiliam, as Siôn sweeps up the broken glass.   Siôn maintains that Iolo sounded upset when they spoke earlier.   Wiliam tells him, “I don’t know if I can trust you.”
“We both what what’s best for Iolo,” insists Siôn, “But your relationship doesn’t seem to be working.”   Wiliam is surprised that Siôn is giving advice on relationships.
"Finish with Iolo!"
“He doesn’t deserve all the deception – finish with him,” Siôn advises.
But Wiliam responds, “I’ve invested too much in Iolo and the relationship to do that – I even turned down work in London to be with him.”
I think there is a piece of broken glass in there somewhere
He picks up a shard of broken glass and brandishes it in front of Siôn;  “Are you sure you haven’t told him anything?   I’m not going to let you ruin my relationship, or my career!”
Iolo demands some answers
At that very moment, Iolo walks in, demanding, “What are you doing?   Dad, are you all right?   Who did this?   Did the same bloke do this?   If so, you need to report him, or arrest him, or this won’t stop!   Why would you cover for a man like this?”
"Things would be worse if I went after him!"
Wiliam warns that things would be worse if he went after him,
"William is corrupt!"
then Siôn speaks up, “Wiliam broke the window!   He’s corrupt, but calls himself a policeman.”
"Don't listen to him – he's paranoid!"
Wiliam accuses Siôn of being paranoid and highly stressed.
Siôn points out that Wiliam is protecting Craig;  “All we want is for you to leave Iolo and me alone!”
Wiliam asks Iolo, “Is that what you want?”
"Yes!"
and as the lights finally come back on, Iolo gives his answer;  “Yes!”
Wiliam looks at the pair of them,
"I'll make sure you regret this!"
snarls, “I’ll make sure you regret this!” and walks out.
Iolo hugs Siôn
Iolo hugs his father.
