| "Sorry I went over the top last night" |
Next morning, Kelly comes downstairs and apologises for going over the top last night, but explains she has very strong feelings about Kevin.
![]() |
| "I was trying to decide what's right" |
Anita did not sleep a wink; “I was trying to decide what’s right – I don’t know whether inviting Kevin is the right thing to do,” she says. Kelly is concerned that it is still a possibility, and walks out of the house.

| A rather subdued breakfast-time |
At Penrhewl, breakfast is a quiet affair;
![]() |
| "You were late last night" |
Cadno remarks that DJ was late home last night. “You said you wanted time to yourself, and I was trying respect that,” he replies, “I went to Bryntirion and talked about the wedding – I decided not to invite Mam.” Cadno concedes that she is his Mam, and he knows how he feels.

| "Diane wants to help you choose a dress" |
Then he remembers, “Another thing – Diane wants to help you choose the perfect wedding dress. I told her you don’t want any fuss, but it is the first time for both of us, so we deserve a splash!”
![]() |
| "I don't want any help!" |
She insists she does not want to talk about it now, nor does she want help choosing a dress.
“Right – fine! I’ll go to work, as it seems you want peace and quiet,” DJ tells her.

| Ed is surprised by breakfast in bed |
As Ed lies in bed, Sioned brings him his breakfast, and says, “We are husband and wife – and I feel bad about . . . you know.” He answers that anyone with sense would say she is better off without him,
![]() |
| Sioned's 'feeling bad' does not last |
but she orders him to eat it before it gets cold.
![]() |
| Ed rings his brother |
As soon as she is out of the room, Ed picks up his phone and calls his brother, Andrew; “Hiya – Ed here. Can I come and see you?”
![]() |
| "Can we expect more abuse from Angela?" |
Sheryl asks Debbie in the café, “Has Angela gone now – or can we expect more abuse from her?” Apparently she has now departed;
![]() |
| "How is Sara?" |
Debbie then asks Jason how Sara is, after the shocks she has had lately.
![]() |
| "Did you hear about Cadno?" |
“Talking of shocks,” she continues, “Did you hear about Cadno finding out that her mother had died by reading it in the Western Post? Have you ever heard anything like it?” Eifion, who is sitting nearby, is himself shocked to hear this news.
![]() |
| "Kevin is being released next week!" |
Then Kelly comes in to inform Debbie, “You’re not going to like this – Kevin is being released next week!” Debbie is under the impression he will be staying away from Cwmderi until Kelly adds, “Anita is considering letting him stay with us!” Debbie demands whether Anita is nuts,
![]() |
| Debbie disappears in a cloud of dust |
before shouting to Gwen that she is going out, and storms off.
![]() |
| "What do you think you're doing?" |
When Sioned catches Ed packing a bag, she demands to know what he is doing; “I’m going to Edinburgh to see Gemma – she needs my help,” he tells her.
![]() |
| "Husbands and wives should discuss such matters" |
She points out that a husband and wife should discuss these matters first, but he is adamant that he is going.
![]() |
| "Gemma's having a rough time" |
“She’s going through a rough time, and won’t leave the flat.”
![]() |
| "I hope you're telling the truth!" |
Sternly, Sioned warns, “I hope you’re telling the truth!
![]() |
| "And you wouldn't like it either!" |
“I wouldn’t like it if you weren’t – and believe me, you wouldn’t like it either!”
![]() |
| "I know it would be hard for you" |
When Debbie bursts into number 10, Anita says she knows how hard it would be for her, Sheryl and everyone else.
![]() |
| Debbie rages furiously |
“No – if you understood, you wouldn’t let him come anywhere near Cwmderi again!” rages Debbie, “Don’t tell me to calm down – you need to screw your head back on! Anyway, what’s Kevin to you? He’s Meic’s son! Did Meic put in it in his will that he could come back here, or are you still bitter that Meic left the café to me?”
![]() |
| "Shut up, Debbie!" |
Kelly has come in and heard this; she tells Debbie shut up, but to no avail.
![]() |
| They are astonished by Anita's next pronouncement |
Anita shouts, “You’re wasting your time – I’ve already given my permission for him to come here!”
![]() |
| "You're going to regret this!" |
Debbie warns her that she will regret this, and if anything happens to anyone again, she will be to blame, then marches out of the house, closely followed by Kelly..
![]() |
| Cadno, weeping over the washing . . . |
Cadno has just brought in the washing when she bursts into tears; Eifion comes in at that moment.
![]() |
| . . . but Eifion is on hand to comfort her |
“Why didn’t you tell me?” he asks her, “I know how things were between you at the end, but I have some good memories of Dora – she didn’t like me at all at first.” Cadno tells him that was all an act, and regrets that she cannot offer him tea, as they have no water.
![]() |
| "Iolo is staying away out of respect" |
She is not encouraged when Eifion tells her that Iolo is staying away out of respect;
![]() |
| "I'd rather have water than respect!" |
“I’d rather have water than respect!” objects Cadno.
![]() |
| "Let's have a look at this, then" |
Eifion decides to have a look at the problem, and try to restore the water, at least until Iolo comes. He adds that he is not doing it for her, but because he is thirsty.
![]() |
| Debbie is rather dazed by the news . . . |
As Jason and Sara fuss over Debbie in the café, Mark comes in and is appraised of the situation.
![]() |
| . . . then she tells Mark that Kevin is after her |
“Anita’s letting him stay there – he’s coming back to get his revenge!” Debbie wails,
![]() |
| "He's not that sort of bloke!" |
but Jason maintains that Kevin is not that sort of bloke. “Why do you think he went to prison?” she demands, “He raped Sheryl, but only attacked me!
![]() |
| "Nobody cares about me!" |
“Nobody cares about that, as Sheryl made the front page.”
![]() |
| "I won't let him hurt you!" |
Mark vows that he will not allow Kevin to harm her, but she is convinced that he will wait for his chance.
![]() |
| Hywel does not welcome the news either |
When Hywel walks into the café, he is told the news and he is similarly dumbstruck.
![]() |
| Kelly waits for one of these mythical buses |
Kelly is standing at the bus stop when Anita phones her, asking where she is;
![]() |
| "I'm going away, I don't know where!" |
“It’s none of your concern! I’m going away, I don’t know where – and I don’t care!” replies Kelly.
![]() |
| "I didn't say anything to Kevin!" |
Anita pleads for her to come back, as she has not in fact said anything to Kevin, and would never do anything like that behind Kelly’s back. She reiterates that they need to talk about it.
![]() |
| "Ooh – what can I hear?" |
Then Kelly hears Sioned’s voice, pleading with Ed,
![]() |
| . . . only Sioned, remonstrating with Ed, as usual |
“I just want you to be reasonable – this is not about Gemma – you’re turning your back on me! How can you do this to me? How am I supposed to cope?”
![]() |
| The old journalist instinct kicks in |
Kelly peers round the corner, to see them coming along the back street;
![]() |
| "My bus is coming, Sioned!" |
Ed says, “I have to go – this is not doing either of us any good! Here comes my bus.”
![]() |
| Is he actually escaping from her clutches? |
The sound of a diesel engine can be heard, as he strides away from Sioned.
![]() |
| Sioned is waylaid by Kelly . . . |
Kelly meets Sioned in the alley, and, as the bus can be heard departing, asks, “Are you all right? You look upset – is Ed running away? I’ve seen the black eye!”
Sioned angrily puts her in her place,
![]() |
| . . . who receives a mouthful |
“Whatever happened between me and Ed is a private matter! This is not about you and what you think, so for goodness’ sake, grow up!”
![]() |
| "There we are – running water again!" |
Eifion has restored the water supply, and asks what Cadno is doing about the funeral, offering to go with her.
![]() |
| Cadno wants to keep away from Carwyn |
“No, I want to keep it short, so as to spend as little time as possible with Carwyn,” she tells him, “Actually, DJ thinks I’m heartbroken, but actually I feel a bit relieved, for Mam and myself. DJ even wanted to postpone the wedding!”
![]() |
| "Angela has asked for a divorce" |
Eifion reveals that Angela has asked him for a divorce, which Cadno finds rather ironic, as her wedding is approaching. He also mentions Mathew staying for a few weeks, and Cadno remembers him being a “mischievous pain” when he was younger.
![]() |
| "Oh, you're here again!" |
As they laugh about it, DJ appears,
![]() |
| "Look, the tap's working!" |
and Eifion takes great delight in demonstrating the now working tap.
![]() |
| "I thought that nightmare was over!" |
In the salon, Hywel tells Sheryl he thought that nightmare was over. Anita comes in, and Hywel demands, “What’s your game?”
![]() |
| "Well, Sheryl has agreed to it" |
He is angry when he hears that Sheryl has also approved his return to the village.
![]() |
| "I believe in keeping my enemies close" |
“Yes, I agreed he could come back,” she admits, “I’m not happy about it, and I’ll never forget what he did, but I do believe in keeping my enemies close – or I’d be forever looking over my shoulder.”
![]() |
| "You're playing with fire!" |
Hywel is of the opinion that she is playing with fire, but she is confident, “No, Kevin will be doing that!”
![]() |
| Tea – now the water is back on |
Cadno gives DJ a cup of tea,
![]() |
| "You stopped me from doing it!" |
but he is annoyed that Eifion did the repair which she had stopped him from doing.
![]() |
| "We should let Dai and Diane get involved" |
Cadno has been thinking and acknowledges that they should let Dai and Diane feel that they are involved with the wedding.
![]() |
| "I've given it serious thought" |
Back home, Anita is sorry for what she said, but had lost her temper with Debbie. She has given the matter serious thought, listened to her conscience and talked to Sheryl, but predicts that Kelly is not going to be happy with her conclusion.
![]() |
| "I'm never going to like it . . ." |
“I’m never going to like it if Kevin comes back,” begins Kelly,
![]() |
| ". . . but I don't have the right to punish you" |
“But, given the circumstances, and considering what Uncle Meic would have wanted, I don’t have the right to punish you.”
![]() |
| "Will you stay, Kelly?" |
Anita asks that if she gives permission for Kevin to come here, will Kelly stay.
![]() |
| "Well, I'm not leaving you on your own!" |
In tears, Kelly replies, “Well, I’m not leaving you on your own!”
![]() |
| Obviously, Ed does not want to talk to her . . . |
Alone in the flat, Sioned tries to phone Ed, but only reaches his voicemail; in a fury, she throws down the phone,
![]() |
| . . . so, after some thought . . . |
thinks for a moment,
![]() |
| . . . she deliberately injures herself . . . |
then proceeds to inflict painful scratches on her own arm,
![]() |
| . . . and inspects the results |
in an effort to simulate physical abuse.
