| "Better get ready for work" |
As soon as they arrive back at Y Felin, Siôn tells Gwyneth he had better get changed for work;
![]() |
| "Iolo won't want to see you" |
“Trust me, Iolo won’t want to see you,” she says, “Give him a couple of days to cool down.”
![]() |
| "Yes, you may be right" |
Siôn concedes that this might be the best course of action.
“I need to fetch Gwern and then start on the wedding arrangements – but we shall only need you and me, and a couple of friends,” she suggests. Siôn adds that they will invite family as well.
![]() |
| "I don't want to come between you and Iolo" |
She assures him, “The last thing I want to do is come between you and Iolo,” but Siôn thinks that with a bit of luck he will come to accept the situation.
“He is convinced that my plot is to snare you – he’s obsessed!” she alleges,
![]() |
| "Yes – obsessed!" |
and Siôn suddenly realises that she is right, and diagnoses that it is the OCD, which does not just manifest itself in washing hands.
![]() |
| "He needs treatment – and fast!" |
He exclaims, “It’s a complex condition – if he’s ill, he needs treatment, and fast!” He puts on his coat and goes out.
![]() |
| Sioned is fragile, after the hen night |
Sioned and Ed come out of the café, and she complains her head is pounding, after the hen night.
![]() |
| "I'll tell Dani you're not coming" |
Ed advises her not to go to the rehearsal; “And have Dani tell me off? No way!” Sioned replies,
![]() |
| "You want to flirt with Dani" |
“You want to flirt with Dani – why do you want her when you’ve got me?”
![]() |
| Catrin is told off |
Britt, who is preparing for Chester’s homecoming, moans that Catrin will be late for school, but she alleges she has an upset stomach. Britt cannot give her any attention as she has to make lasagne and shepherd’s pie for Chester.
![]() |
| Britt goes on and on about Chester . . . |
“He needs home-cooked food after all the slop he’s been given, poor dab!”
![]() |
| . . . while Catrin is completely ignored |
Catrin looks increasingly exasperated.
Coming out of the café, Iolo bumps into Siôn, and tells him that he is not at Llanarthur as he has changed his plans for the day.
![]() |
| "I know why you disapprove of Gwyneth" |
“I think I know why you’re so disapproving of Gwyneth,” Siôn tells him.
![]() |
| "Yes, she's a bad person!" |
“I thought it was obvious – she’s a bad person!” answers Iolo, but Siôn regrets he did not spot it earlier, and assures Iolo that there is help available, if his OCD is worse.
![]() |
| "That OCD needs to be tackled!" |
It needs to be tackled before it gets a hold on him.
![]() |
| "So this is how it's going to be?" |
“This is how it’s going to be, is it?” demands Iolo, “You don’t hear me any more – you hear the condition! I worked hard to get where I am, and this is what I get!
![]() |
| "It's under control, Dad!" |
“It is under control, Dad, phone the counsellor if you don’t believe me.’
![]() |
| "This is your own son talking!" |
As he walks away into the alley, he adds, “Gwyneth wants to destroy you – and this is not the condition talking – it’s your own son!”
![]() |
| Britt is much too busy |
Catrin asks for a drink of water, but of course Britt is too busy making shepherd’s pie. Colin comes in with a parcel, delivered by Mark.
![]() |
| A welcome home present |
Britt excitedly opens it – a tablet for Chester as a welcome home present.
![]() |
| "I can't wait to see Chester's face!" |
Completely ignoring Catrin, she enthuses, “Chester will really love this – I can’t wait to see his face!” Colin gets Catrin some water.
![]() |
| Iolo goes to his mother's grave |
Iolo goes to the cemetery, and by his mother’s grave he asks,
![]() |
| "What am I going to do with him?" |
“What am I going to do with him? He used to listen to you – well, most of the time.”
![]() |
| Dani is very impressed |
Getting into the spirit of the pantomime, Ed enunciates, “Now, Adorable, off you go to the party – if you or your sister don’t bag the prince, I’ll eat my hat!”
![]() |
| Sioned is disinterested |
Meanwhile, Sioned drinks coffee at the bar and looks bored. “As long as one of you gets him, I’ll be richer than ever!” says Ed.
Dani congratulates him on the performance; “Amazing as usual, Ed – everyone else needs to raise their game!”
![]() |
| "Meaning me?" |
“Meaning me?” demands Sioned, and Dani suggests that she could use her magic wand to improve her acting. “The script is the problem, not me!” Sioned insists,
![]() |
| "We can use it for toilet paper!" |
“It’s rubbish – but we know what to do if we run out of toilet paper!”
![]() |
| "Actually, you're sacked!" |
Dani is furious; “If that’s how you feel, there’s not point in you being here – actually, you’re sacked!”
Sioned stresses that she did not want to be in the pathetic pantomime anyway,
![]() |
| "Come on, Ed! |
and turns to leave, saying, “Come on, Ed!”
![]() |
| "I'm staying!" |
She is somewhat irked to find that Ed wants to stay.
![]() |
| Catrin has an idea . . . |
Catrin fetches herself another glass of water, then looks at the tablet,
![]() |
| . . . and is about to test the tablet's watertight properties . . . |
and is about to hold it under the tap when Colin appears;
![]() |
| . . . when she is stopped by Colin |
“I don’t think that’s a good idea, do you?”
![]() |
| "It will all change when he comes back!" |
After some encouragement, she admits, “We’re all right as we are, you, Mam, Aaron and me – it will all change when he comes back!
![]() |
| "He'll be worse than he was before!" |
“He was bad enough before he went inside – he’ll be worse now! I used to be proud of him, and my friends thought he was cool, but now they don’t want to know me – because of him. Do you think if I’m as naughty as Chester, I’ll get a new tablet?”
![]() |
| "You might get your cool big brother back" |
Colin suggests that she might get her cool big brother back, but she is unconvinced. “Shall I make you some lunch?” he asks, and she replies that she is starving.
![]() |
| "I won't say a word" |
“Your stomach better, is it?” he enquires, adding, “I won’t say a word.”
![]() |
| Iolo leaves the graveside |
As Iolo leaves his mother’s grave, he sees Sioned with a bunch of flowers.
![]() |
| Sioned has flowers for her Dad's grave |
“I miss Dad every day,” she admits, then continues, “Dani sacked me from the pantomime – I don’t care what she thinks of me,
![]() |
| She is disappointed by Ed |
“but I expected Ed to be more supportive!”
![]() |
| "Well, talk to him, then" |
Iolo advises that she needs to talk to him, not to her Dad;
![]() |
| "Yes, who should I be talking to?" |
Sioned asks, “Who should you be talking to?”
Britt comes in with some wrapping paper, intending to wrap the tablet.
![]() |
| "Are you sure about this gift?" |
“Are you sure about this gift?” says Colin, “Normality is what he needs – not fancy gifts. Big fuss won’t help him – he needs time to get used to everyday living again.”
![]() |
| "You know Chester better than I do!" |
He unexpectedly receives a hug from Britt, who tells him, “Sometimes I think you know Chester better than I do! He can have it for Christmas. It will help Chester to have you as a friend!”
![]() |
| Colin wonders how he got himself into this |
Colin is not so sure about this, but she goes on, “He’ll need you more than ever, as Garry’s not coming home.”
![]() |
| "I think I made it worse!" |
Siôn tells Gwyneth that is afraid he has made it worse, as Iolo denies being ill, and he suspects this is not part of the OCD. “But I won’t let this come between us,” he says,
![]() |
| A small red box . . . |
as he produces a small red box,
![]() |
| . . . containing a ring |
containing a ring.
As he puts the ring on Gwyneth’s finger, Iolo arrives,
![]() |
| "It's official, is it?" |
and concludes, “It’s official, is it?”
![]() |
| "Can I have a word in private?" |
He asks to have a word, in private, with Siôn.
![]() |
| "Look, I'm not ill!" |
“Look, I’m not ill – I’m concerned about you!” he insists, but Siôn emphasises that he does not want to fight every day.
![]() |
| "I'll put up with her!" |
Iolo continues, “You know what I think of her – and there’s nothing else I can do – we have to find a way of moving on. I’ll put up with her – I’m trying to meet you halfway here.”
![]() |
| Ed is expecting some recriminations . . . |
Ed cautiously arrives home and sits on the sofa; Sioned comes in and seems conciliatory.
![]() |
| . . . but Sioned seems to be all sweetness and light |
“Forget about the rehearsal – there’s no point in arguing over the panto!
![]() |
| He wonders how long this will last |
“I fancy watching a box set – you can choose.”
![]() |
| Gaynor wants to be promoted |
Gaynor commends Dani for her hard work, but is really angling to take over the part of Sorceress Shh, recently vacated by Sioned. Dani has someone else in mind for the part; “Me!” she says.
![]() |
| "You're already the director!" |
When Gaynor objects, Dani points out, “It was my idea to have the panto, so I make the decisions!”
![]() |
| The calm before the storm |
On the sofa, Sioned comments, “This is nice. We can spend more time together now we’re out of the pantomime.” Ed takes issue with the word ‘we’, as he has not been sacked.
![]() |
| "You're the star of the show, aren't you?" |
“Sure, you enjoy it – you’re the star of the show, aren’t you?” she snarls, “You know you’re not that good, don’t you? You think you are, and feel very special, with all that praise!”
![]() |
| "It's nice to have a laugh!" |
Ed says that it is nice to have a laugh, and she goes on,
![]() |
| "You can't treat me like that!" |
“Yes, a laugh at my expense! You can’t treat me like that!”
Siôn tells Iolo that they will be having a simple wedding, and as Gwyneth comes back in,
![]() |
| "You won't get an apology . . ." |
Iolo is ready to go; he tells her, “You won’t get an apology,
![]() |
| ". . . but I won't make trouble" |
but you won’t get any trouble from me either.” Siôn has a phone call and goes into another room.
![]() |
| "I'm here to keep an eye on you!" |
Iolo spells out his position; “I’m here to keep an eye on you, and I won’t turn my back!” She replies that she is not afraid of him,
![]() |
| "It's the quiet ones you should watch!" |
but he reminds her, “It’s the quiet ones you should watch!” She promises that she will always be one step ahead.
![]() |
| "We understand each other now, Siôn" |
Siôn returns, and Gwyneth announces that she and Iolo understand each other.
![]() |
| No prizes for guessing how he came by this |
Since we last saw him, Ed seems to have sustained another injury;
![]() |
| "What are we going to do with you?" |
as she applies a cold compress to his head, Sioned purrs, “What are we going to do with you? It will have gone down by the morning, so no-one will be any the wiser.
![]() |
| "You need to be more careful" |
“You need to be more careful – everything’s all right now.”
![]() |
| But answer came there none |
Ed utters not a word.
