Hywel is in the bedroom when Sheryl reappears; “At last!” he says. She again expresses her regret that she left without warning and asks how Esther is. He tells her how worried he has been about her.

“I panicked, that’s all – you were going on and on about my decision,” she tells him; he objects to being blamed for this. “I couldn’t think straight, and needed space to prepare myself,” she continues,

| "Now you can tell the police you've changed your mind" |
and Hywel tells her that she can now tell the police she has changed her mind, and Kevin will have to leave.

| "But I haven't!" |
He is outraged when she answers, “But I haven’t changed my mind – I had doubts and questions, but I’d feel a lot worse if I didn’t know where he was. My mind is made up!”

| Jim opens the box . . . |
Mark delivers a parcel to the shop, and Eileen admits she has not even written any cards yet;

Jim opens the box and finds a new steering wheel, with Courtney’s name on it.

| "I ordered it months ago" |
“I ordered it months ago, and forgot all about it,” he tells them. Mark thinks that he should leave.

| "We need you at APD, Jim" |
Then Diane comes in, apologising for upsetting Jim yesterday, and stressing that they need him at APD, and do not want his share in the business.

| "What – selling his share?" |
This comes as news to Eileen, but Diane confirms he said he did not want anything to do with APD. Eileen maintains that he did not mean it,

| "Yes I did mean it!" |
but Jim disagrees; “Yes I did! I want to sell my share!”
As Sara gets the washing out of the machine,

| "You worked so late last night!" |
Jason rushes in, wondering why he slept so late. “Because you worked so late last night,” Sara tells him, “Let me come in this morning and help. Your Mam is obviously not doing enough, and I’m bored here!”

| "I'll come home for lunch" |
Jason tells her that as it is their first Christmas in the house, she should go shopping for decorations, and offers to come home for lunch.

| "It's very tough for Jim" |
Mark comments to Sheryl, “Poor Jim – I didn’t know where to put myself! It’s very tough for him.” Debbie comes out of the shop and approaches them.
“Why did you let him come back here?” she demands.

| "We must show him we're better than him!" |
Sheryl states that they have to show Kevin they are better than him. Debbie is getting very worked up, shouting, “I’ve got to do something about this!” Mark tries to calm her, suggesting that he might not be here long, and the best way is to keep out of his way. Sheryl looks anxiously at number 10.

| The chain is back on the door again |
Inside, Kevin has refitted the chain on the door, insisting that Kelly did not fix it properly, and that she had left early this morning to avoid him.

Anita hopes that things will soon settle down.
Then there is a knock on the door;

| Sheryl faces her attacker |
it is Sheryl, who comes face to face with Kevin.

| "Don't worry, I won't come near you" |
“Don’t worry, I won’t come near you – I know the rules!” he says, and Sheryl confirms that she also knows the rules. She had a shock when the police told her he wanted to come back, and asks him why.

| "Look Sher, I'm so sorry!" |
“I had nowhere else to go – everyone turned their backs on me – this is home. Look, Sher, I’m so sorry!”

| "I don't want to talk about it!" |
She does not want to talk about it, having now moved on, with Hywel and Esther. “I was sorry to hear about Meilyr – you must have been through hell!” he says, and she wonders how he heard about that.

| "Mam turned her back on me" |
“You do hear stories on the inside – from Mam, before she turned her back on me,” he replies. Sheryl hopes that it works out for him, but reiterates that she want him to keep away from her. “Yes, Hywel has already warned me,” he says.

Sara is buying holly and decorations from the shop; “I was going to decorate the shop, but my heart’s not in it,” comments Eileen.

| Jim will not release his grip |
Jim, still clutching the steering wheel, asks if Courtney would have liked the colour, but when Eileen suggests putting it away somewhere, he will not let go of it.
She suggests, “Shouldn’t you go back to APD? They need you there – and working with Dai can’t be that bad!” He demands what is the point of working; she says, “It helps pay the bills, for a start.”

Once again he stresses, “What is the point? and Eileen urges that he has to try.
Vicky comes in to buy mince pies, “For the elves at Awyr Iach,” she says, “I love Christmas!”

Esther is sitting on Hywel’s lap when Sheryl returns, in rather a state,

| Sheryl tries to calm herself |
and has a glass of milk to recover her equilibrium. “Do you want to play with your giraffe?” Hywel asks Esther, and then goes over to talk to Sheryl.

| "I went over to see Kevin" |
“I went over to see Kevin – I wanted to tell him to stay away – but you’d been there before me,” she says,

| "You didn't tell me you were going" |
and complains that he did not tell her he was going.

| "You didn't tell me you let him come back" |
Hywel counters with, “Well, you didn’t tell me you had allowed him to come back!” and is about to go and sort Kevin out, but she stops him, insisting that she had to face him, on her terms;

now she is confident that he will not come near her, and warns Hywel to keep away from him.

| "I'm going out for some fresh air" |
Kevin advises Anita that he is going out for some fresh air,

| "Well, be careful" |
and is cautioned to watch out for Hywel and Debbie. “I don’t need you to hold my hand,” he replies, “I can’t lock myself in here for ever – I might as well be in prison. I can take care of myself.”

As Dol describes the Deri as, “Quiet as the grave,” Kevin arrives,

and is greeted with, “Come on in – don’t be shy!” On hearing his accent, she adds, “You’re a Gog? Well, no-one’s perfect!”

He looks at the photo of Meic on the wall, and remarks that the place has changed, since he was last here, a lifetime ago. Dol buys him a pint of lager.

Sara comes in, looking for Jason, who has not come home for lunch.

Dol tells her, “He’s sorting a delivery,” and, when Sara looks at Kevin, she adds, “Hands off – he’s mine!”

At Awyr Iach, Vicky wants Jason to go to the Deri to talk about the staff Christmas party, and he eventually agrees. Then Eileen arrives to talk to Diane, who is looking at some excellent value gilets; “Ideal for the Christmas market,” she says.

Eileen asks her, “Please don’t be in a rush to buy Jim’s share – he hasn’t thought it through, and is feeling very low at the moment.”

Sara goes to the café to inform Debbie that she has just seen Kevin at the Deri with her mother. Debbie rushes out, with Mark,

who was having a cup of tea in the kitchen, in hot pursuit.

Dol tells Kevin that she works at Awyr Iach; he comments that is where the bank used to be. She asks where he has been, and he replies that it is a long story and offers her another drink. When told that his name is Kevin, she says, “Oh, my Deb married a Kevin!”

At that moment, Debbie rushes in, shouting, “Mam, are you crazy? Drinking with a rapist?”

Dol exclaims, “So that’s your long story, you filthy . . ! I wouldn’t touch your poison with a bargepole!”

and throws her drink over him. Debbie advises Vicky to come home as it is not safe at the Deri,

and Sara is very displeased when she sees Jason chatting with Vicky there, instead of coming home to her.

Mark tries to sound menacing, as he tells Kevin, “A word of advice – keep away from my family!

However, despite his condition, Kevin finishes his lager.

Jim is still inseparable from the steering wheel; Eileen suggests taking some flowers to Courtney’s grave.

“What is the point? They will only wilt and die, like everything else! I can’t face visiting the grave!

“Flowers and holly won’t bring Courtney back – nothing will do that!”

Diane visits Sara, where she is told that Jason prefers being in the Deri to having lunch with her.

Then he comes in, complete with Santa hat,

Diane thinks this is her cue to leave, and Jason also hands her some mistletoe;

“I live in hope!” Diane grumbles.
Eileen walks across to the the remains of the shrine, while Jim watches from the shop door.

As she looks down at Courtney’s photo, he joins her; “Sorry for losing my temper – I shouldn’t take it out on you,” he says, “Thank you for being there for me.”

Eileen reminds him that it is difficult for them all.

He takes the flowers from her,

During the night, Sheryl wakes to find Hywel dressed, and asks where he is going at this time of night.

He tells her that the alarm at CwmFM has gone off, and he suspects that Dai, who has been working there, must have done something.

He goes to a cupboard and pulls out a carrier bag.
