On the way to APD . . .
On their way to APD,
. . . they see Eifion approaching
Dai and Diane see Eifion approaching;
"Look who's appeared from under his rock!"
Dai shouts, “Look who’s appeared from under his rock!   Hope you had a happy Christmas after spoiling it for everyone else!   I’ll catch up with you another time!”   Eifion diverts down the alley to avoid them.
Diane says she is fed up with people threatening each other, and asks Hywel to take Dai for a coffee so she can do stocktaking in peace.
"She's been on edge for days now!"
Dai moans, “She’s been on edge for days, and I don’t know what’s wrong.   Every time I ask, she says it’s just ‘stuff’!”   Hywel admits that he has been kicked out of the flat by Sheryl.
"You might be safer in New Zealand"
By the cashpoint, Sara tells Eifion that she thought he would have left the country by now, and mentions that DJ has moved to Crymych with his mother.   “New Zealand is looking for people – you might be safe there!” she suggests.   Eifion smirks, thinking that now he has a chance.
An unwelcome hospital visitor
Anita is told that she can leave the hospital, but as she is gathering her things together, Kevin comes in
Anita is about to sound the alarm
and her first reaction is to press the alarm button.   He dejectedly explains that he wants to apologise.
"I phoned for the ambulance"
“I phoned for the ambulance,” he says.
"After trying to steal everything I had!"
“After you and your mother tried to steal everything I had!” rages Anita, but Kevin continues to blame his mother for it all, alleging that she poisoned his mind while he was in prison,
"I was grieving for Dad"
and that he was grieving.   “Don’t you dare try to blame Meic for this!” replies Anita.
“When Dad died, I was in a very dark place, and bitter about things.   I came up with the idea of stealing from you,” he begins,
"Then I changed my mind"
“But then I realised how supportive and kind you were to me – and I changed my mind.”
"How about the £10,000?"
Anita is unimpressed, demanding, “How come £10,000 disappeared from my bank account?   The bank phoned me to check that I verified the transaction.”   This confuses Kevin, as Nansi received the money;  Anita goes on, “Yes, otherwise they would have to report it to the police –
"I do have my self-respect!"
and that would prove to everyone in the valley that they were right about you!   That I was stupid enough to put a roof over your head – I do have my self-respect, you know!”
"I regret having the idea in the first place"
Again Kevin insists that he tried to stop Nansi doing this, and regrets having the idea in the first place.
"Persuade her to give everything back – today!"
Anita tells him, “If that’s true, the answer’s simple – persuade Nansi to give everything back to me – today!”
"Why didn't you tell me?"
At Penrhewl, Cadno is ironing when Eifion sidles in and asks why she did not tell him that DJ had gone, alleging that he had stayed away from visiting the boys so they could sort out their differences.
"I'm not looking for someone else!"
She puts him straight, “Don’t you dare think I’m looking for someone else because DJ has gone!
"I'm off men for life!"
I’m off men for life – you’re nothing but trouble!”   He goes upstairs to see Bobi and Arthur.
"Cadno didn't even wish him happy Christmas!"
As Diane is tidying up APD after the incident, Dai has been on the phone to Linda, and moans at Diane that Cadno did not even ring DJ to wish him happy Christmas.   “I bet she didn’t have much fun either,” Diane replies, “She must be breaking her heart – maybe she needs a push in the right direction from someone who could remind her how good things were with DJ.”
"This 'stuff' you're on about – is it hormones?"
As he asks, “This ‘stuff’ that you’re on about – is it hormones?” his question is cut short by the arrival of Debbie.
"Off you go to Penrhewl, Dai!"
Diane wants to talk to her, so she sends Dai off to Penrhewl.   Debbie’s problem is that key to the door of the café will not turn,
Debbie has some free WD40
so Diane gives her a can of WD40 ‘on the house’, and asks how Ricky is.
"No, Ricky's not himself"
Debbie’s reply is, “He’s not himself, and won’t come out of his room.   Mark says it’s my fault for buying him stupid computer games – he must miss Courtney more than we thought!”
Diane knows exactly why
She hurries off to open the café, while Diane looks very concerned.
Nansi enjoys a life of leisure
Nansi is lying on her hotel bed, stuffing herself with chocolates when Kevin returns, advising,
"A 'get out of jail free' card"
“We won’t have to hide any more – we’ve been given a ‘get out of jail free’ card.   Anita’s not going to the cops!”
Nansi’s response is, “So we can catch that flight tomorrow –
"We're off to sunny Spain!"
we’re off to sunny Spain, y viva España!”
"We have to give everything back!"
Kevin, on the other hand, is adamant that they have to give everything back – including the money, as Anita does not deserve this.
Nansi whines, “She’s all right – she has a roof over her head, friends and a village.   Don’t ask me to give it all back –
"And leave your own Mam without a penny!"
and leave your own Mam without a penny!”
"It wasn't much fun here either!"
Dai arrives at Penrhewl and tells Cadno that Christmas was odd without her there, and she agrees that it was not much fun at the farm either.   Dai hears footsteps on the stairs and shouts, “Look, boys, what Uncle Dai’s got for you!”
"You've got a cheek, being here!"
Then he is shocked to see Eifion, who explains he is only there to see the boys.   “You’ve got a cheek, being here at all!” snarls Dai, and Eifion makes a hasty exit.
"I begged him not to go"
Cadno reveals that she begged DJ not to go, but Dai maintains that he was shattered – an emotional wreck.   She insists that it is as simple as him not wanting to be with her, but Dai is at pains to point out,
"Nothing is simple for DJ any more"
“Nothing is simple for DJ any more, now he has to live with the fact that his Mam has only got a year to live –
"The cancer is back"
the cancer is back, and there is no cure!”
We should be told – was this iPad bought with Anita's money?
Nansi looks at a Spanish villa on her iPad and enthuses, “The rent on some to these flats is cheaper than in Amlwch – this will be a fresh start!”
"You'll soon get fed up with that"
Kevin predicts that she would soon be fed up with Sangria and Spain;
"Start the New Year with a clear conscience"
“If you give everything back, I’ll stick with you – help you pay the debts and get your flat back.   Then we can start the New Year with a clear conscience!”
"And an empty bank account!"
“And an empty bank account!” adds his mother.   Assuring her that she will not regret it, he goes to have a shower and fetch his things.   As soon as the door closes,
"Taxi, to Cardiff Airport!"
Nansi rings reception;  “Taxi please, straightaway, to Cardiff Airport!”
Diane relives her experience . . .
Diane looks warily around the scene of the recent escapade,
. . . then calls Debbie to come over
then calls Debbie, telling her that they need to chat.
Cadno asks Dai why DJ did not say anything to her;
"He wanted you to be the centre of attention"
“The wedding,” answers Dai, “He wanted you to be the centre of attention – that’s the type of man he is – he thinks of others.   Now the situation is clearer, perhaps you could find your way to Crymych – to sympathise with them.
"He'll be glad of a bit of company"
DJ is seeing things more clearly and the dust has settled, he’ll be glad of a bit of company.   The best peace Linda can have is to know that DJ is being cared for when the time comes.”
Cadno agrees that is possibly best, and he finds a pen to write down the address and postcode,
"Just change the date!"
in the drawer discovering a wedding order of service.   “You might be able to use this again,” he says, “Just change the date!
Dai does not think much of the garden gnome
When you get there, tell DJ we didn’t appreciate the garden gnome he gave us for Christmas, OK?”
Eifion comes downstairs in his house,
Eifion looks at the rose
sees the white rose buttonhole, grabs his coat and goes out.
"Funny place for a chat!"
Debbie and Vicky arrive at APD, thinking it a strange venue for a chat,
"I wanted you to see exactly where it happened"
but Diane explains, “I wanted you to see exactly where it happened.”
"Sounds like Midsomer Murders!"
Debbie comments that this sounds like Midsomer Murders.
Diane describes the scene . . .
“Things could have worked out differently for Ricky if I hadn’t turned up.   Jim locked Ricky up in there, without a coat or anything – I don’t know what his intentions were – perhaps to scare him.   It scared me witless!   I’ve been worried about Ricky – sorry for not telling you sooner.”
. . . and Debbie wants to know all the details
Debbie wants to know the whole story from the beginning.
"Booked a taxi, have you?"
The next time Kevin returns to Nansi’s room, she has her bags packed and is ready to go;  “The lady at reception tells me you’ve booked a taxi,” says Kevin,
"I'm taking it all back to Anita"
and she lies that it is to take all her ill-gotten gains back to Anita, adding that she should go alone, as it was all her idea.
Kevin points out one important omission
He points out that she has forgotten to pack the necklace;  “Where would I be without you?” she laughs, and he imagines that she would be halfway to Spain.   She begs him again, “Come with me – this is our last chance to have a life together!   The sun – and the cash – would mean so much more if you were with me!”
He will not entertain the idea, threatening to call the cops and tell them everything.   He is doing this as it is the right thing to do.
The necklace is handed over
Nansi reluctantly hands over the necklace, and Kevin takes away the bags.
Eifion is back at Penrhewl yet again!
Cadno discovers Eifion in the kitchen at Penrhewl once again;  he says, “The fact that you’re off men for a while means that you realise you’re not supposed to be with DJ, and although you’re angry with me now, I’m glad about what I did.”
"DJ's mother is dying"
Cadno informs him that DJ’s mother is dying;  “Dai explained and gave me his address.   He thinks if I go over there, there may be hope for us.”   Eifion judges that she is not fit to drive, and offers to take her there,
"But I'm not going"
but she has decided she is not going.
"It was something that Dai said . . ."
She muses, “Something that Dai said – that I could marry DJ some other time –
"I'm still in love with you"
my heart sank, because I’m still in love with you.”
"That's fantastic!
Eifion thinks that this is fantastic news, until she adds, “It’s not!   We’ve been here before – it was far from perfect.
"I'm not willing to take the risk – again!"
I’m not willing to take the risk and go back to the hatred, lies and betrayal!   The reason I was in love with DJ is that he is everything you’re not – sensible and dependable – someone who would never hurt me.
"You're useless!"
You’re useless – the boys and I deserve better!”   Eifion concludes that he had better go.
"Any idea how dangerous it could have been!"
After hearing the full story, Debbie is furious;  “If he had set off those fireworks, do you have any idea how dangerous it could have been?”
"Yes, I know – I was there!"
Diane stresses that she was there in the middle of it, and has not been able to sleep since.
“Ricky was not willing for me to call the police – he said that Jim needed help, not more stress,” Diane continues.
"Yes, Ricky is most important in all of this"
Debbie appears to agree, and says that Ricky is the most important person, but as soon as she is outside APD, she makes a phone call.
"Police?   I want to report Jim Probert!"
“Police?   I want to report Jim Probert from Siop Sioned – he tried to kidnap my son and wanted to harm him!”
