Opening time at APD
Dai opens up APD and Diane complains she placed an order last week, which has not arrived;  “Have you checked out the back – that’s where the deliveries go?” he asks.
"What?   Moonlighting already?"
When she enlightens him that this is an Awyr Iach order, he rages, “We’ve only just opened, and you’re moonlighting already!   I might as well run the place on my own – you and Jim have both turned your backs on me!   Why don’t you ask Anita to sort it out?”
Diane answers that Anita has enough on her plate, and she will sort this out herself.
The front door has come through the night unscathed
Kevin has been out for a pint of milk and reports that the front door has not been touched.   Anita commends him on a good painting job, and says she is going to the Antur;
"Will you be all right on your own?"
“Will you be all right on your own?” she asks.
"I shall go and look for a job"
He points out that he is used to being on his own, and thinks he will go out and look for a job.   “I intend to find somewhere else to live, and want to pay for my keep – at the moment I can’t afford a pint of milk.”
"Yes, Mam, I'll come over"
Jason has a phone call at home from his mother, asking him to help at APD to shift something,
Sara wants to get back to work
but he is keen that Sara should not go back to work at Awyr Iach.
"I'll bring some paperwork home for you"
He advises that she should go and post the Christmas cards, and he will bring some paperwork home for her;
"You can come back on Monday"
“If you’re still all right after the weekend, you can come back on Monday,” he says.
A delivery blocks APD's back door
Much to his annoyance, Dai finds a delivery of cement and other item has been left right outside the back door of APD.
"What are you shouting about, Dai?"
He shouts for Diane, who is by this time at Awyr Iach.   “APD’s deliveries are more important!” he shouts, “The sooner Jim is back, the better!”
"I need someone to help – now!"
Kevin approaches as Dai insists, “I need someone to help – now!”
“So my timing is just right!” announces Kevin, surprising Dai, “I need a job and you need help!”   Diane assures him that they are not that desperate, and as Jason joins them,
"You're surplus to requirements!"
Kevin asks, “Shall I take these bags in for you?”   Dai informs him that he is surplus to requirement, but he picks up a bag of cement, nevertheless.
The struggle over a bag of cement
Dai attempts to wrestle the bag from him, with the inevitable consequence that the bag bursts and falls to the ground.
"Go back to Alcatraz!"
Dai growls, “I don’t need help from jailbirds!   Go back to Alcatraz!”   Diane warns him not to come near APD again.
Britt seems to be having difficulties
In the Deri, Britt has been putting up decorations, and has dislodged a curtain rail;
"Go and change the barrels!"
as Mathew comes in, she asks him to go to the cellar and change the barrels.
"I don't know how to do that"
He shamefacedly admits he does not know how, as his previous experience has been solely as a barman.   Britt concludes that she will have to do it herself.
Diane leaves another furious message
At Awyr Iach, Diane is leaving an irate message on the phone, “I ordered 500 gilets several days ago, they haven’t been delivered and I’ve lost count of the messages I’ve left you!”   She lowers her voice as Sara comes in,
"Jason hasn't brought me the paperwork"
complaining that Jason has not brought her the paperwork he promised.
Diane expunges outdoor.com (which actually exists) from her screen
“There’s no need – everything is in order,” replies Diane, “I’ve been sorting things out all morning.   We don’t want you getting stressed, do we?   You may as well wait until the New Year to come back.”
"I'm coming back next Monday!"
Sara is adamant that she will be back next Monday.
Oh dear – fiddling bank accounts – it didn't end well for Siôn . . .
Then Diane turns to the online banking screen on the computer and transfers £1,500 from the Antur account to Awyr Iach.
. . . but she does feel guilty about it
She looks guilty.
Dai likes the prospect of a free pint
As a reward for refixing the curtain rail in the Deri, Britt instructs her new barman to give Dai a free pint.   Jason tells him, “I don’t know why you wouldn’t give Kevin a chance – you need someone!”
Dai’s response is, “What he did to Sheryl is unforgivable – and he lied to your Mam!”
"That's more cloudy than the top of the Black Mountains!"
Then he takes one look at the pint he has been given and exclaims, “That’s more cloudy than the top of the Black Mountains!”
"Did you wash the taps and pipes?"
Britt discovers that Mathew did not wash the taps and pipes, but he argues he was not told to do so.
"Is she always like this?"
He asks Dai, “Is she always like this?   Just because Dani gave me a job without asking her first.”   Dai explains that her son is in prison.
"If you don't sort those pipes out . . ."
Britt is off again;  “If I tell you to do something, I want it done straightaway!   If you don’t sort the pipes out, you’ll be out of a job!”
"No, it's not about that"
Anita goes to Awyr Iach to see Diane, who suspects that Kevin has sent her over to complain about his reception at APD.
"A month's rent has been transferred back"
Anita enlightens her;  “I’ve been looking at the Antur accounts – a month’s rent has been transferred back to Awyr Iach this morning.”   Diane denies all knowledge of this,
"We must have a hacker, then!"
so Anita comes to the conclusion they have a hacker, and wants to contact the police.
"I may have made a mistake"
Diane then changes her story;  “I’ve been working on Awyr Iach and the Antur – and keeping an eye on APD – it’s not easy without Jim – and I’m up to my eyes.   I may have made a mistake.”
Anita concedes that it is easy to make a mistake when very busy,
"You're the one giving shelter to a rapist!"
and Diane remarks, caustically, “You’re the one who’s busy giving shelter to a rapist!   I’ll sort it out!”
"Message from your husband, Colin"
Mathew has just received a phone call and gives a message to Britt;  “Your husband, Colin, has to work late in the shop.”   Britt replies that she was relying on him to help tonight.   “I washed the pipes and the beer looks great,” he boasts, “Could I do another shift?”
Britt seems to have amnesia – as far as Siôn is concerned
She points out, Colin’s not my husband – I lost him years ago.   If Teg was still around, Chester wouldn’t have gone off the rails.”
"Now that looks much better"
She inspects the beer and agrees it looks much better.
"I think Diane has something to hide"
Anita goes to see Jason and Sara, telling them that Diane is acting oddly, as if she had something to hide, and hopes she is not in financial trouble.   She would not accept any help.   Jason explains that she has just taken on too much work,
"Right, I'll go and have a word with her"
but he will go and have a word with her.
"Have you tried the Deri?"
When he comes out of the door, he meets Kevin and asks if he has tried at the Deri for a job, as Britt does not seem happy with the present barman.   Although not confident, Kevin will give it a try.
The old one about the missing bubble
Dai returns to the Deri to collect the spirit level he left behind;  he tries the old chestnut, about the missing bubble, on Mathew, but as he has been a welding apprentice, he has heard them all.
Dai suddenly looks less than happy
Dai is less than pleased when Kevin comes in, looking for work.
"You sent Meic to an early grave!"
“Last time you were here, all you did was send Meic to an early grave!” roars Dai.   Kevin insists that Dai is not perfect either, and points out that they all make mistakes.   “Oh – so that’s what you call raping an innocent girl, is it?” Dai demands.
Jason attempts to get to the bottom of the matter
Jason goes to the back entrance of Awyr Iach, and tells Diane, “Anita says your behaviour is strange, and Sara is concerned about you.”
"I've ruined the business!"
Then the truth comes out;  “I feel so ashamed – I’ve ruined the business –  I sent an order for 500 gilets – I was trying to save Awyr Iach money, and they were a bargain.   But it’s a fake company, and doesn’t exist, and they won’t answer my calls and e-mails!”
The amount does seem to cause some alarm . . .
When she admits that the cost was £1,500, he deduces, “So you moved the money from the Business Units account?”   She admits she was trying to balance the books, and has really messed up.
. . . but he reassures her it is not insurmountable
“Right, Mam,” he soothes, “This is not going to sink Awyr Iach, so it’s not the end of the world.   We’ve got insurance, so I’ll see if it covers that.
"Just put the money back in the Antur account"
All you need to do is put the money back in the Antur account – I paid in a few cheques yesterday, and we have a new order this morning, which is more than enough to cover it.   Panic over!”
"They'll think I'm a real fool!"
Diane is still very concerned about what Anita and Sara will think – probably that she is a real fool.   He suggests, “They don’t have to know everything, do they?   It might be a good idea to leave the ordering to Sara and me – and no more moving money around!   It must have been a ‘senior moment’!”
Kevin hopes for a bit of goodwill
Kevin asks for a pint of lager in the Deri, pointing out that it is supposed to be the season of goodwill.   Mathew warns him to behave, and he replies, “The last thing I want to do is go back behind that big wall.”
"More than I can say for the clientèle"
Dai is happy with his replacement pint;  “That one’s fine – more than I can say for the clientèle!”
Jason comes in, telling Sara, “She was trying to pay the rent, not moving it back!”   Sara replies that if she is so scatterbrained, she is not fit to do the job.
"You're lucky to get a pint here!"
Then Jason buys Kevin a pint.
Diane explains away her slight aberration
Diane advises Anita, “I’ve put the money back now – my mind is all over the shop, and Jason thinks I’m too old to work!”
"There's a nasty smell at the bar!"
Dai comes across, remarking, “There’s a nasty smell at the bar – it turns my stomach, to be honest with you, Anita!”
"I heard about APD"
She gets up and commiserates with Kevin about being turned down at APD.   “And here, too!” he replies.   Britt reminds him he is lucky to be served.
Anita tells Britt, “You’ll be glad if people give Chester a chance when he comes out!”
Britt is offended by the comparison
Britt points out there is no comparison between Chester and what Kevin did to Sheryl.
Anita makes a public announcement . . .
Anita loudly announces to everyone in the pub, “No-one in this village is perfect – everyone does things they regret!”
. . . which makes Kevin cringe
Dai appears to agree;  “You’re spot-on, Anita!”
"But some things are worse than others!"
then he adds, “But some things are worse than others!”
