Ricky is exasperated.
![]() |

![]() |
| Debbie's resolve begins to falter |
“If you report this to the police, it’s like saying his feelings don’t matter. You know how boys that age can be – they do all kinds of stupid things to teach their parents a lesson.
![]() |
| "I'd prefer my son to trust and respect me" |
“I want to give Jim a hiding, and see him rot in jail – but would prefer it if my son trusted and respected me.”

“Between you and me, I think Diane Ashurst is going cuckoo!” she goes on, “And I don’t want to be part of this vendetta she has against Jim. It’s to do with the business, and now I know about it, I want to withdraw the complaint!”

| "I just wanted to scare him" |
“I locked him in the APD stores, without a coat or fleece or anything. I just wanted to scare him – I don’t know what I would have done if Dani and Diane hadn’t stopped me. And what makes it worse – he’s not willing to give evidence against me – he feels sorry for me!
![]() |
| "A sixteen-year-old feels sorry for me" |
“A sixteen-year-old feels sorry for me, because I’m pathetic – and no good to anyone.”
![]() |
| "You mean everything to me!" |
Eileen assures him that he means everything to her; “People do stupid things in situations like this – remember what Sioned was like when we lost Denz? But she got through it – and things will get better for you!”
![]() |
| "I can't carry on like this!" |
“But when, Eileen?” he pleads, “I can’t carry on like this!” and sobs piteously.
