As she looks at the wedding dress . . .

As Cadno is looking at her wedding dress, she receives a text from DJ;

. . . there is a text from DJ

“Can’t wait until you’re Mrs Ashurst. Love you for ever.”

She looks at the photograph

She smiles, then looks at the photograph of her and Eifion with the boys when they were younger.

"There's a story behind all these things"

Jim is tightly clutching Courtney’s scarf; he tells Eileen, “There’s a story behind all these things. The day she bought this scarf – where was she – what was she thinking?

"Why didn't she tell me she was pregnant?"

“There are so many things I don’t know, or understand either – why didn’t she tell me she was pregnant?”

Eileen tries to console him that Courtney would have told him, given time, but he is again wondering, “What if someone took advantage of her? The more I think about it, the more sense it makes – she wasn’t going out with anyone.

"Maybe it was a teacher!"

“She never brought boys home – maybe it was a teacher!”

"Ricky is the baby's father!"

Eileen feels she has no choice but to admit, “It wasn’t a teacher – Ricky is the baby’s father!”

"What? Ricky Jones?"

He looks at her, astonished,

"Everything you need to know is in here"

and she fetches the diary; “This was in the bag as well – everything you need to know is in here.”

"I meant what I said last night"

Anita is all ready to leave, but is still fussing about Kevin; “When I woke this morning, I was happy with the decision I made last night –

"Meic would want me to do this"

“I know Meic would want me to do this.” Kelly calls for her to come or they will be late, and she assures Kevin that everything will be sorted out in the New Year.

They leave for Bali

She gets in and Kelly drives the car away.

Eileen informs Jim that she was going to tell him when the time was right.

"I was imagining all kinds of things!"

“I was making myself ill, imagining all kinds of things – I thought she had been groomed or attacked!” he tells her.

"I thought it would finish you off!"

She pleads that she thought that reading the diary would finish him off, but he demands why Courtney hid from them the fact that it was Ricky. Eileen is about to go to Penrhewl, where Sheryl will be doing the bridal party’s hair.

A gift at breakfast-time

In the Deri flat, as DJ is tucking into his breakfast,

Linda gives him a watch . . .

Linda presents him with a gift, a watch,

. . . with an inscription

inscribed on the back, “Time is the most valuable gift. Mam x.”

Here comes Dai

Dai walks in, all dressed up; “Nefi wen!” he exclaims, “Am I the only one who’s ready?” DJ shows off his new watch,

"Now you know exactly how late we are!"

but Dai only comments, “A watch – now you know exactly how late we are!” He grabs a sausage from DJ’s plate and leaves.

"I don't trust him at all!"

DJ tells his mother he has to go; “I need to check what’s in his speech – I don’t trust him at all!” and he rushes off, close behind Dai.

"What are you doing here?"

Kevin is once more checking the papers in the dresser drawer when there is a knock at the door, and Nansi, his mother, bursts in.

"I thought there might be something I wanted"

“I didn’t like you having to implement out masterplan on your own,” she says, “I thought there might be something I wanted –

"All Anita's winter clothes will be in the wardrobe"

“Anita always liked clothes, and all her winter ones will be in the wardrobe – very handy!”

"She wants me to have half the house"

Kevin informs her of Anita’s decision to give him half the house; “She says I deserve my share, and will sort it out after the holiday.”

Nansi demands where that will leave her;

"Thinking of yourself as usual!"

“Thinking of yourself as usual!” replies Kevin.

Nansi is determined not to lose out

Nansi insists, “If we don’t steal her money today, you will have to promise to give me my share!” Kevin has had a change of heart, as he is adamant that he will not take a cent from her. He regrets coming back, and does not want the money; all he wanted was to show he deserves a chance and a future.

"What about Debbie – that cheap tart?"

Nansi bitterly replies, “I never heard such nonsense! And what about that Debbie – the cheap tart who stole your father’s business?” He stresses that he does not want to ruin her business, and will return the spare key before she notices. “You’re letting yourself down!” roars Nansi, “A few kind words from Anita and you’ve gone soft!” Kevin is clear that he will leave here, knowing he has done the right thing.

Ricky is having a laugh with his mates

Ricky, with Saeed and another mate, is sitting on the bench, looking at his phone when Jim approaches, wanting a word with Ricky;

"Fancy earning some extra pocket money?"

“Fancy earning some extra pocket money for Christmas? We’re expecting a delivery at APD – I said I’d do Dai a favour as he’s going to the wedding, but I need some help. How does £20 for half an hour’s work sound?”

Ricky agrees to help

Ricky is not going to turn down this kind of offer, and Jim tells him, “I’ll see you over there about two.”

Kevin has just been to the cashpoint

Kevin posts the keys through the letterbox

and then posts the keys through the café door.

Sioned thinks she has found a tenant for Anita

Anita and Kelly arrive at the airport, and Kelly has a phone call from Sioned, who may have a tenant for the room at Anita’s which Kelly is vacating.

"This makes me look bad"

Anita is displeased that this is public knowledge; “It makes me look bad, as if I’m throwing you out.”

"Have you thought how Sheryl feels?"

Kelly’s response it, “So you do worry about what people think! Have you thought how Sheryl feels about the prospect of Kevin coming back permanently?” Anita says that Sheryl is OK about Kevin now,

Unusual background for an airport – looks more like docks

and Kelly rages, “Are you really that naïve? He put her through hell, and she might be trying not to play the victim, but deep down, she’s desperate for him to disappear off the face of the earth!”

Anita loses her temper

Anita is becoming angry with her attitude, maintaining that Kevin is breaking his heart after making one mistake. “Raping someone is not a mistake!” shouts Kelly, “Stop defending him – because you’re letting yourself down!” Anita concludes that perhaps she should not go to Bali after all, and stalks off, dragging her case behind her.

"You look lovely, Cadno!"

As Sheryl finishes Cadno’s hair, Eifion arrives with Bobi and Arthur,

Bobi and Arthur bring Mami a present

who present her with a gift.

"Old, new and blue – three out of four"

Eifion explains, “It’s a bag from an antique shop – old, it’s new to you

She loves the bag

and there are blue pearls on it. Three out of four isn’t bad!”

It hits Eifion – just what he is losing

He tells her that she looks lovely,

"It's a change from wellies and a jumper!"

and she acknowledges that it is a change from wellies and a jumper.

"My stomach is playing up"

Eileen is ready to leave for the wedding; Jim announces that he has a bad stomach,

"You go!"

so will stay at home, but insists that she must go.

He takes another look at the diary

As soon as she leaves, he gets out Courtney’s diary again.

Nansi regards the photos with disdain

Nansi sneers as she looks at the six photos of Meic and Anita; “You ugly little traitor!” she snarls at Kevin, “You never made anything like this for me! I was never good enough!”

"Stop spouting your poison!"

Kevin bawls at her to stop spouting her poison and advises that he is getting his stuff and leaving.

"I'm not leaving empty-handed"

“I’m getting my stuff too!” Nansi exclaims, “After all I’ve done for you, I’m not leaving empty-handed. You might have had a change of heart, but I’m taking my share.” She heads upstairs.

The time for the wedding draws near

The congregation gather in Bethania, which now has a yellow colour scheme after its refurbishment;

"You look gorgeous!"

Ed remarks to Sioned, “You look gorgeous – it brings back nice memories!”

“When I found out you had slept with my sister!” she replies. Eileen arrives, and then Eifion, who sits in one of the side pews, a wild sort of look in his eyes.

Tears stream down DJ's face

DJ has tears running down his face, and explains to Dai that it is so sad, with everything that has happened, particularly to his mother.

"You're getting married – don't cry!"

Dai encourages him, “You have to concentrate on today now – you’re getting married – don’t cry!” He tries to distract DJ by the old trick of pretending to have mislaid the ring.

Then they all stand, as Cadno, preceded by Bobi and Arthur, walks up the aisle.

"She likes cheap stuff!"

In Anita’s bedroom, Kevin finds Nansi going through the jewellery box and moaning, “She likes cheap stuff – I thought she had better taste.”

"I never want anything to do with you again!"

Kevin announces that he is going in ten minutes, and not with his mother; “I never want anything to do with you again!”

"You ought to look closer to home!"

She regards it as funny, him looking at her as though she were a piece of dirt, and suggests he should look closer to home.

"Jim, sorry I'm late!"

Ricky arrives at APD and goes in search of Jim, hanging his coat just inside the security cage. Jim is quick to seize the coat, then shuts the door and padlocks it,

"Do you know what this is?"

following which he holds up the diary. “Do you know what this is?” he demands, “This is Courtney’s diary – where it says that you are the baby’s father!”

"I'll call the police!"

He walks away, as Ricky threatens to call the police.

"What are you doing here?"

Nansi has reached the bottom of the stairs when Anita returns unexpectedly, and wants to know what she is doing there. Kevin tries to explain that this is not how things are supposed to be, but then Anita sees her belongings piled up on the sofa.

"Hey! This is my stuff!"

“This is my stuff!” she shouts, “What’s going on? Are you stealing them?” Nansi describes them as Kevin’s inheritance,

"I tried to stop her, Anita!"

and Kevin maintains that he tried to stop her.

"After everything I've done for you!"

“After everything I’ve done for you!” rages Anita, “I’ve just argued with Kelly over you – that’s why I haven’t gone!”

Nansi interrupts, “Oh, boo-hoo! No Christmas in Bali for you!” and Kevin screams at his mother to shut up

"I was giving you half the house!"

“I was giving you half the house,” begins Anita, but Nansi protests that he should be getting all of it. Anita continues, “Everyone warned me about you, but I trusted you – and all the time you’ve been plotting with your mother!”

They struggle for possession of the phone

She attempts to grab the phone, but Nansi tries to wrestle it from her, pushing Anita backwards.

"I can't find a pulse!"

She falls over the case, and ends up on the floor, after her head has come into violent contact with the radiator. Kevin rushes over and panics as he cannot detect a pulse.
