1 March 2016

"Did you go to the police?"
Sioned returns to the shop flat, and Ed anxiously asks, “Did you go to the police?   Do you intend going?   I don’t want to lose you – but I can’t expect you to live with what I’ve done!”
"I can live with that!"
She replies, “You didn’t do it deliberately – it was an accident, wasn’t it?   And you did it to protect me?   I can live with that – or I’ll try my best.   Mark will be proved innocent and released at some point.”
"What if he's not released?"
Ed asks what if he is not released, and Sioned tells him, “You’ve got the choice – Mark’s freedom or yours – and I know which one I’d choose!”
Ed is very relieved
He hugs her.
"Shall I cook tonight?"
Sam offers to cook for Gaynor tonight, as he says he was renowned for his curries on board ship, but she has bad news for him;
"I think you should start looking for somewhere else"
in view of her ‘date’ tonight with Siôn, she asks that Sam start looking for somewhere else to stay,
Sam pretends he does not mind
she will need some privacy in the future.
"I don't blame him"
Garry prepares to open the Deri, Britt complains that Chester would not go to school today;  “I don’t blame him,” says Garry, “It’s the Eisteddfod today, and he’s not competing.   He’s 15, and folk songs aren’t ‘cool’!”
St David's Day type music
Siôn approaches, wearing his daffodil, and bringing Welsh traditional music CDs for the celebrations, but Garry tells him, “We’re not bothering with St David’s Day!”   Siôn protests that the Deri always does so,
"You're nothing to do with 'The Deri Arms' any more!"
but Britt gleefully reminds him that he is nothing to do with ‘The Deri Arms’ any more.
Ed feels that a great weight has been lifted from him;  “I feel optimistic for the first time since I don’t know when!”
"Do you still want to marry me?"
He kneels and addresses Sioned;  “Sioned Rees, do you still want to marry me?”
She eagerly agrees to this, and in response to his regret that he has no ring, produces Marian’s;  “She would be over the moon!” Sioned says.
Marian's ring is slipped on to her finger
He places it on her finger,
A weight off his mind – for now
and they embrace.
In the shop, Ffion asks Gaynor if she is doing anything special tonight;
"I've arranged to meet Siôn"
Gaynor replies that she has arranged to meet Siôn.   This interests Gwyneth, who is also there.
Daffodils for the school hall
Ffion pays £10 for the large quantity of daffodils to decorate the school hall.
"Is Siôn seeing Gaynor?"
Gwyneth asks Eileen if it is right that Siôn is seeing Gaynor.   “I’m not sure, but if he is, he doesn’t waste any time!” Eileen answers.
Gwyneth walks straight past Siôn
As Gwyneth steps out of the shop she encounters Siôn, but ignores him, which he finds puzzling.
When Ffion calls at the Deri for some glasses, in which to display the daffodils, Britt points out that Chester is staying home.   Ffion is quite willing to agree to this, as long as he is catching up on his school work.
Chester is unduly interested
He assures her that he is, and as she leaves, Chester watches her intently.
Angela tells Eileen what happened
Angela asks Eileen, outside the shop, if she has seen Sioned today, and reports the quarrel she had with Ed last night;  “I was worried, as he was not at all nice – threatening, even!”
This must be serious – Eileen closes the shop
They go into the shop, and Eileen locks the door.
Upstairs, Sioned has just poured glasses of champagne, as Eileen and Angela walk in;
Sioned exhibits her ring
“I was just going to give you a surprise – Ed and I are engaged!” Sioned announces.
Eileen and Angela look none too impressed
Eileen cannot understand this;  “Ed was threatening you last night, and now you want to marry him!   Think carefully before marrying a violent man!”
"We just argued!"
Sioned protests that there was no violence, but they just argued;  “Have you never argued with Eifion or Jim?
"I overreacted – no big deal!"
“I overreacted – it’s no big deal!”
"I'd never harm Sioned"
Ed solemnly confirms that he would never harm Sioned.   Angela warns that she is going to be keeping her eye on him.
"I'm busy!"
Siôn goes to see Gwyneth at Awyr Iach, but she says she is busy.   “Would you like to come over and celebrate St David’s Day?” he asks, and she wonders if he does not have something better to do tonight.
"Nothing's better than your company!"
“Nothing’s better than your company!” he tells her.
"Gaynor wants me to move out"
That evening, Sam explains to Dol in the Deri that Gaynor has asked him to move out.
"Has Siôn been in?"
Then Gaynor approaches them, remarking how quiet the pub is, and asking if Siôn has been in.
Is Dol really serious about these Welsh lessons?
She gives Dol a leaflet about Welsh lessons at Llanarthur every Sunday, and offers to buy them drinks;  Dol would like a brandy.
"Don't you start!"
At the bar Gaynor comments on the lack of celebration, and Britt replies, “Don’t you start!   Sion already told us off about that!”
Chester has been studying . . .
Ffion arrives, bringing back the glasses, and Chester tells her that the studying went well until his brother and sister came home.
. . . but something else seems to be on his mind
As Ffion leaves, he once again stares appreciatively at her, occasioning Garry some amusement.
"I wasn't sure you were coming"
Siôn is pleased to see Gwyneth at Y Felin;  “I wasn’t sure if you were coming.”   Gwyneth says that she is sure there would be plenty of people to take her place;
"I was thinking of Gaynor"
“Megan wouldn’t be such good company!” he jokes, but she was thinking more in terms of Gaynor.
He admits that he has had a few meals with Gaynor, and Gwyneth admits to being jealous.
"So you do have feelings for me"
“So you do have feelings for me – I’m glad, because I feel the same,” Siôn says,
Siôn gets amorous
and kisses her.
When she expresses doubt that she should have come,
"I'm not sure I want to be 'safe'!"
he assures her, “You’re safe – I’m more or less a minister!”   She confesses that she does not want to be ‘safe’,
Siôn is making a meal of it
 another kiss ensues.
"Please can Ed's ban be lifted?"
Sioned asks at the bar of the Deri if Ed’s ban can be lifted, as they want to celebrate their engagement;  Garry refuses, but is overruled by Britt, who insists that they need the takings.
Angela is already not very steady on her pins
Angela, already grasping a bottle, comes in with Eileen,
A drunken profession of love for her sister
and swears undying love for Sioned, in a drunken fashion.   Eileen drags her away,
Eileen now wants to hush up the matter
warning her, “Watch what you say!   I’d like to bury this illness quietly, without proclaiming it to all and sundry.   We’ve sorted out the auction and we’ll do so with the rest.   Don’t drink any more!”
Gwynetn and Siôn are still at it . . .
As Siôn and Gwyneth are kissing on the sofa, there is a knock on the door, and Gaynor appears with two takeaway meals.   “I wasn’t sure if you were coming, so I brought something to eat,” she tells Siôn,
. . . until interrupted by Gaynor
then is surprised to see Gwyneth,
"I came to ask for advice"
who concocts a tale about coming to ask Siôn for some advice.
Siôn maintains that the advice he has given has not been adequate, and Gwyneth adds, “I’d like to discuss it further.”   Gaynor decides this is an opportune moment to leave the food and beat a retreat.
"It would be a shame to waste this"
“It would be a shame to waste this,” Gwyneth tells Siôn.
"He's a one, that Ed!"
Dol comments, “He’s a one, that Ed – likes them young!   He was after our Vicky for a while!”   Gaynor returns, rather subdued to the Deri,
"Been stood up, have you?"
and Dol sensitively comments, “Been stood up, have you?”   Gaynor tells Sam that she may have been a little hasty, and that he is welcome to stay at Llwyncelyn.
Dol is after some champagne
Dol goes to the bar, where she picks up a bottle of champagne;  Ed remarks that he does not remember offering any to her.   “Share and share alike, innit?” she replies, “Haven’t seen you round our place with Vicky recently.
"Perhaps your fiancée will let me have it"
“Perhaps your fiancée will let me have it!”   Ed tells her to take it.
Britt gives her sales pitch to Sioned;  “Don’t forget the Deri for your wedding!   Have you decided on a date yet?”
"I want Angela for my bridesmaid"
Sioned does not want to wait, as she is keen for Angela to be her bridesmaid;  “So we’d better do it before too long – I want to make sure you’re there.”
"I'll be there for your wedding"
Angela assures her that she will definitely be there, whenever they decide to get married.
Angela is having trouble standing up
Eileen exhorts them not to let Angela’s illness spoil the evening;  Angela unsteadily rises to her feet, heading for the toilet, and Eileen accompanies her, to stop her falling over.
Britt brings over some auction leaflets,
"I thought this had been cancelled!"
which Eileen sees when she returns.   “I thought this had been cancelled!” she grumbles, feigns a headache and leaves.
"Where are you going, Mam?"
On the way Angela asks where she is going,
Eileen is definitely not happy
and Eileen glowers at her, without uttering a word.
